Stratford Upon Avon Lodge Retreat Reviews

"Would stay again"
Philip - Apr 2024
"Some issues should have been identified and sorted prior to our arrival given the star status of this lodge ie handles missing on doors, broken toaster (which they were already aware of but waited to see if it was consumer error!) and a few other bits but the facilities are lovely and the hot tub was perfect! We would definitely return."
Kay - Apr 2024
"Really cosy and had everything you could need. Immaculate in cleanliness and decor with the most amazing bathroom."
Kay - Apr 2024
"Couldnt fault the lodge itself it was lovely & the surroundings were nice & it was quiet the only drawback was the lack of facilities on the site"
Russell - Apr 2024
"Minimal cutlery & crockery. No longer appear to offer complimentary cleaning pack which was a welcome bonus.Overall though, nice comfortable lodge."
Verified Guest - Apr 2024
"Lodge would be improved with the addition of a few more crockery/cutlery items I.e. 4 plates, 4 forks isnt really enough in a lodge for 4 people as it meant as soon as something was used for prep/serving, there wasnt enough. It also meant we were constantly running the dishwasher half full as nobody wants to wash up on holiday. Having stayed in other self catering lodges/houses, Id say at least double the amount would be perfect."
Joanna - Apr 2024
"Lodge was lovely and clean, staff were very helpful.Only thing it was lacking was a mop, 2 dogs and hot tub in wet weather and nothing to mop floors, other than that everything was great."
Sarah - Apr 2024
"Nice lodge, seating area could have been more comfortable and you need a stick for the Tv which was really limited."
Verified Guest - Mar 2024
"Lovely lodge. Modern and calm decor. Really comfy beds as well. Not a fan of leather sofas but we had taken fleecy blankets so softened them up with those."
Ellen - Mar 2024
"Lacking chopping board as we cook some food there"
Verified Guest - Mar 2024
"Absolutely amazing"
Leanne - Mar 2024
"Another wonderful holiiday here"
Lisa - Mar 2024
"The lodge in general was beautiful, super cosy design and was just perfect for us. The bed was super comfy, storage was great, and the hot tub was fab! A few minor problems we experienced were due to a lack of some pretty important kitchen tools, such as a pair of tongs! In a self catering lodge, you would presume there would be these, along with dishwasher tablets, more than one tea towel and cloth, some cleaning supplies, a sponge, etc. There was also a few problems with the furniture, the sofa not being the most comfortable, as well as a few things being loose and potentially becoming a trip hazard, bit of plastic on the bottom of the door etc. We also couldnt use the gate off the balcony, and with a dog this was a bit of a pain! The hot tub also came with lots of slugs! None in the tub thankfully, but lots surrounding and therefore would suggest maybe including something to stop this, like slug repellent. With regards to the hot tub, there was also a man who came onto the deck and went to clean it, obviously this is no problem but I think some warning would have been nice as it scared the life out of me. The outside lights also didnt work, one flashed on and off, the other didnt work at all, so taking my dog out at night was not very fun!"
Eleanor - Mar 2024
"All am amenities in the lodge.Take your own dishwasher tablets or washing up liquid, but plenty of tea and coffee in the lodge.Lovely rooms and bathrooms and large sitting area."
Carol - Mar 2024
"Great lodge, very comfortable"
Kate - Mar 2024
"Just returned from a great 4-night stay at Stratford Lodge Retreat. Check in was slightly delayed as the lodge wasnt quite ready at 4pm but staff were very helpful and friendly. On arrival to the lodge (37) everything was immaculate and in great condition! Beds were comfortable and lots of towels. I would recommend brining your own soap & cleaning products and dishwasher tablets if you want to use that as there were non in the lodge. On the first morning we had an issue as there was no heating or hot water but we phoned the team and despite an hour wait they managed to get the boiler working and had an engineer come whilst we were out. The rest of our stay was perfect and would highly recommend as a perfect base to explore the area!"
James - Mar 2024
"Nice Lodge. Fab hot-tub. Good location. Reception staff very friendly"
Verified Guest - Mar 2024
"We had a lovely holiday here and would definitely recommend others visiting. The lodge was clean, tidy and smart on arrival. It has been decorated to a good standard and looks modern. Having a hot tub was also a big plus. Our biggest gripe was the lack of basic amenities available, and not being made aware of this prior to arriving at the lodge. No washing up liquid, dishwasher tablets, kitchen spray or soap was provided in the kitchen. This obviously made it difficult to keep the place clean and hygienic. We called reception as we presumed this was an error, but were told we needed to buy these items ourselves, either from reception or elsewhere. We felt this was very poor form considering the price you pay to stay here - it would have cost the company about £1-2 to provide a small bottle of washing up liquid, some cheap hand soap and a few dishwasher tablets. It felt very stingray to not include them, and just a lack of sense to not inform guests that these items werent included when every other lodge we have ever stayed at has provided at least the basic cleaning essentials. Another note is that our swimwear got bleached by the chlorine in the hot tub! It smelt very strongly of chlorine and our skin felt dry, sore, and itchy after spending time in there."
Abi - Mar 2024
"Lodge was everything we excepted.Clean, tidy & well equipped."
Barrie - Mar 2024
"Great stay thank you"
Verified Guest - Feb 2024
"We had a lovely stay here ,the staff were very helpful and friendly in particular Barbara on reception and Chris in maintenance. The lodges are very clean and well equipped. The icing on the cake was the hot tub.Our dog loved his stay there too with areas specifically designed for dog exercising. This is our second visit to Darwin Escape lodges and won't be our last."
Brian - Feb 2024
"Beds fabulous Sofa and chairs looked nice not that comfy tbh"
Joanne - Feb 2024
"The lodge was lovely, clean and well maintained. The hot tub was a lovely addition. The grounds were well maintained. The beds were nice and comfortable. The lodge was lovely and modern and well insulated. We will definitely book again!"
Nathalie - Feb 2024
"Second time visiting. Park lovely and hottub super clean but lodge could have been cleaner, cobwebs in the bathrooms etc. The furniture is starting to look a bit tired."
Preeya - Jan 2024
"Loved it, stopped there as our lodge after working in the area. Very spacious and top quality."
Rob - Jan 2024
"Fell lucky and got the lodge at a very reasonable price and had a lovely stay as a mixed generation family of 7 people. We had stayed here before but felt that the standard of the lodge wasn't as good as last time. There were items from previous guests left in the top of two different wardrobes showing it hadn't been cleaned thoroughly enough and gatherings of fluff under the sofa.Last time, the lodge seemed very well equipped but this time, we only recieved 1 dishwasher tablet (for a 3 night stay) no washing up liquid and minimum cutlery etc.It didn't ruin or affect our stay but just felt disappointing. On the plus, the furniture / beds / towels / bedding were all very comfy and felt like good quality.Having parking for two cars right outside the lodge is brilliant. The short drive in to Stratford is also a huge bonus...Great location!"
Verified Guest - Jan 2024
"Had a wonderful stay in Stratford-upon-Avon Lodge retreat. The lodge was so beautiful and we can't wait to return. If I was being really really fussy I'd say cushions on the sofa would be great as we had to use pillows and there was a huge cobweb on a light in the en-suite shower room. None of the clocks in the lodge were correct with large clock on wall ticking but not changing. Also doors hit mirrors in bedrooms and shower screen in bathroom. Was worried about them breaking. Might be an issue with young children. But obviously none of that impacted our stay. It's so lovely and relaxing and the hot tub was beautifully warm. Its a great distance to be able to pop into the town and explore but far enough away to get peace and quiet. Also great free WiFi and free car charging! Thank you for a great stay. Cant wait to return."
Annee - Jan 2024
"absolutely fabulous place. The lodge is really modern spotlessly clean and in a great location. The hot tub was lots of fun! and private too"
Verified Guest - Jan 2024
"The lodge was perfect for us. We chose the larger Lodge as was off season and we had plenty of space to move around the lodge. We took advantage of the hot tub every day !!"
Sue - Nov 2023
"Lovely park, clean inside and around on paths"
Jill - Aug 2022
"We had a lovely week at stratford on avon lodge retreat it was beautifully laid out and extremely quiet. Some of the lodges did seem to be a bit of a walk from the designated car park which would make it very awkward for some people carrying their luggage . Overall it is a lovely place to stay"
Margaret - Aug 2022
"We did not want to leave. Our neighbours did not want to leave. The lodges were perfect. This pretty much sums it up! It’s so relaxing - what a lovely area of the world."
Judith - Aug 2022
"A lovely modern lodge in a perfect location close to many lovely towns and villages."
Helen - Aug 2022
"We had a lovely holiday in the lodge, well equipped with everything you need for your holiday, the only thing we would say is that the bath didn't get even luke warm so had to fill it up from the boiling hot water from the sink, we mentioned this to the very helpful receptionist who sent someone to have a look at it but said it that the temperature was regulated to stop accidents buti it didn't even get luke warm The views were amazing and not far down the road was Hatton Village, a great place for all the family."
Anne - Aug 2022
"Lovely lodge & only 10 minutes away from Stratford upon Avon city centre"
Array - Aug 2022
"Great holiday, will definitely be coming back. Barbara at reception was so welcoming and helpful, the works needs more people like Barbara!!"
DEBORAH - Aug 2022
"Excellent quiet location. Good base to visit surrounding areas. Dog next door did keep barking and the children kept hitting their ball against our van. One point thought they had broken a window."
Rachel - Aug 2022
"Quite location, would book again."
Martin - Jul 2022
"The lodge was stunning. Stylish but cosy. Very well appointed. The bed and en suite with freestanding bath and shower room was a real treat. The surroundings were very well kept. Not sure if letting the wild flowers grow between lodges is deliberate but we loved it. It's a short drive to Stratford on Avon and easy to get a taxi. We'd love to stay here again."
Sam - Jul 2022
"Very nice site and the Lodge was just perfect also a great location which was nice and quite."
