Calvert Kielder Reviews

"Very clean but with a place this big USB sockets should be available, we only brought 1 plug charger the rest were USB but nowhere to plug them in"
Verified Guest - Feb 2024
"Beautiful lodge in a beautiful setting, definitely has a wow factor when entering, the pictures on the website don't do it justice.Had a few little issues which we had to sort via an email instruction (Hot tub reset and turning the underfloor heating off).Overall the lodge has everything you would need and more, most the site was closed this time of year, which we knew so can't comment on the facilities."
Jamie - Feb 2024
"All positive would recommend luxury accommodation in Kielder Forest. The stars were out fantastic dark skies."
Verified Guest - Jan 2024
"Only issue was cold hot tub till 2nd evening! Not acceptable when you pay a lot more for a lodge with hot tub"
Dawn - Nov 2023
"The lodge was perfect for a couple. We found it to be very comfortable and immaculately clean with good quality self catering accessories provided and excellent facilities. It was also very peaceful and quiet which all made for a very enjoyable and relaxing break. We didn't use the restaurant facilities at the park so we can't rate or comment on this aspect sorry."
Mrs P - Nov 2023
"The Bradbury was beautiful and the furniture of good quality. However there was a lack of glasses and crockery in the kitchen. No soup/cereal bowls, no casseroles, no glass tumblers.
Shower in the main bathroom was broken (it would not turn on), we reported this on the first day. A new one was needed but wouldn't be fitted until the day we left. 4 adults had to use the en-suite to shower which was not really acceptable in a chalet of this price.
Hot tub has been placed so that when you lift up the cover the scenery was completely blocked."
Sharon - Aug 2020
"Had a great time lodge was excellent very well equipped my only downside is the park it is in has very little for small children one tiny park not much in it..also at lodge there needs to be a gate to close off the decking from the road outside if you have a dog or young children its less than ideal"
Lesley - Jul 2020
"Excellent. Hot tub amazing."
Ann-marie - Mar 2020
"Perfect. No other words required"
Bud - Mar 2020
"Will be returning in due course. As its self cater in the lodge make sure you get your essentials. I came from the south and the nearest for food etc at a good price is at Co-op in the village Bellingham. Its nine miles from the lodge. You could use a shop near Boat Inn but its very pricey. Plus Bellingham has a nice bakery next door to Co-op. Elf Kirk has a beautiful view :)"
Kim - Mar 2020
"Had the best time, just what we needed. We didnt have chance to visit all of the sites, so we will have to come back to make sure we fit it all in.

Thank you for a wonderful time"
Kelly - Nov 2019

Claire - Dec 2017
"Loved it & would definitely return"
Adele - Oct 2017
"This is an amazing lodge with lots of features and gadgets. The views are lovely during the day and even better at night with clear skies.
The lodge is extremely spacious and has everything you need and more.
Lodges were well spread out and very private, we didn't hear a thing .
The only reason we haven't given 10 is there was a smell of drains in the main bedroom and the bedroom lights flickered on and off randomly during the night.
The booking form does warn you the hot tub may not be ready for use on the first night and it wasn't. This is the first time we've experienced this.
We had a take away one night and the food was lovely, plenty of it and reasonable price.
The odd negative we have put were reported so hopefully they'll be put right.
There is an activity centre a few minutes drive away that has a pub which serves lovely food and a small shop that sells essentials.
We would definitely recommend this lodge and hopefully will return in the future."
Elizabeth - Oct 2017
"Fantastic retreat in the middle of nowhere. Log fired hot tub for aching legs at the end of a 20 mile hike. Local pub The Pheasant for Sunday roast, fantastic break away in the countryside."
Anita - Oct 2017
"Excellent lodge and facilities"
Janet - Sep 2017
"Amazing holiday, loved every minute."

Kielder Water Bird of Prey Centre - NE48 1BT
about 1 Mile
Housing the most fascinating collection of Birds of Prey in the North East this centre is definitely worth a visit if you are staying in the Kielder Water area. Located in Falstone it's easy to get to and makes a great day out for both families and couples.  As well as seeing the amazing birds you can learn all about the captive breeding programme and the excellent work being done there.  Some of the highlights of the day might include watching a Falcon stoop down from the skies at over 100mph and admiring the grace of the Eagles, Kites and Hawks.
Tullie House Museum & Art Gallery - CA3 8TP
about 24 Miles
This is a museum and art gallery in one and will suit those looking for an educational and cultural day out.  You can explore the fantastic art collection including Fine Art, Decorative Art and Textiles.  If you love nature then this aspect of Tullie House will appeal. The museum holds large and important collections of zoological, botanical and geological material. And for lovers of history there is plenty to wet your appetite here. Tullie House collects a wide range of historic materials including objects, ephemera (printed material), photographs and associated information files.  We think this museum and art gallery are excellent value for money as well.
Go Ape Northumberland - NE48 1NT
about 24 Miles
Go Ape! has really taken off and become one of the most popular attractions in the UK.  The Northumberland course is set in the stunning grounds of Matfin Hall.  Described as a high wire forest adventure this really is one for the more daring as the course takes place right up in the tree tops.  Giant tree top obstacle courses include ladders, bridges, tunnels and some of the country's best zip lines.  You will be provided with all safety equipment and training on site.
Cragside House and Gardens - NE65 7PX
about 27 Miles
Cragside House and Gardens (National Trust) are a popular Northumberland attraction with a beautiful stately home and gorgeous grounds to explore. The rhododendron labyrinth is a unique and fun addition to the grounds and there is also an adventure playground where children can let of steam. It is the stunning scenery that attracts most of the visitors though with many bringing a picnic for a relaxing family day out. The house itself hosts exhibits which change regularly. World of the Water Wizard is currently on display.
Alnwick Castle and Gardens - NE66 1NQ
about 36 Miles
Alnwick Castle and Gardens today are perhaps best known for their roles as Hogwarts in Harry Potter movies but have for many years been a family favourite attraction in Northumberland. The beautiful medieval castle is open to the public and during school holidays and at Christmas and Halloween a range of activities can be enjoyed including Santa's Workshop, a Pumpkin Parade, Spell Making Lessons and Owl and Bird of Prey Flying.
