"Weve stayed here a few times now and keep coming back. The whole process from check-in to check-out is so smooth, which we really appreciate. The lodges are spotless and well-equipped for self-catering, making everything easy. We love that the hot tubs are enclosed - perfect for privacy and letting the dogs roam freely without worries. Plus, the fact that dogs are welcome is a huge bonus. Prices are fair too and the beds are super comfy. The staff are always friendly and helpful!"

"Had a lovely weekend here! The lodge was spotless and had everything we needed. Perfect for a chill break with my wife and our dog. Well be back for sure!"

"The lodge wasnt quite what we expected. The pictures showed a gas hob and double oven, but ours had an induction hob and just a single oven. The pots werent suitable for induction and it wasnt very clean apart from the obvious surfaces and bedding. Bit disappointing, really."

"We really enjoyed our stay at this lodge. Plenty of space for six, all rooms were spotless and everything else was well-equipped. Just wish there were extra baking trays!"

"We stayed in one of the bigger lodges and honestly, we werent told upfront that the balconies would be closed. That was a bit disappointing since it was something we were looking forward to. The lodges themselves are still lovely, but definitely starting to look a bit tired and could do with a refresh. The location and staff, though, are absolutely fantastic-couldnt fault them at all!"

"The lodge is pretty decent overall, but it definitely needs some love and care. The spa pool was a bit neglected and the kitchens cutlery and glasses were quite sparse for a larger group. Also, we found crisps on the sofa cushions and it wasnt very clean either."

"Charming place, would definitely return"

"The park is lovely, with plenty of trees, but it makes the area quite shadowy. The house felt quite plain and minimalistic, almost too bare for our taste. Still, worth a visit!"

"We had a fantastic stay at the lodge! It was really roomy and perfect for us. The inside amenities were spot on and everyone was very happy. Only minor thing was the carpets, which were a bit grubby when we arrived and the snooker table felt was patched up with tape, but honestly, it didnt spoil our trip. Were definitely recommending it to friends and family!"

"Good value, but some fittings and carpets need fixing."

"We just finished a three-night stay at Rainbow Spa Lodge 77 and honestly, we really enjoyed it. After coming across some pretty negative reviews online, we were a bit unsure if wed made the right call, but we decided to keep an open mind. From the moment we stepped inside, we were pleasantly surprised-its a lovely place, very clean and surprisingly spacious throughout. Sure, some things are a bit old-fashioned and the outdoor area could have done with a quick tidy, but these small issues didnt spoil our stay. The hot tub and sauna were fantastic and the mobile signal was decent, especially since were all with O2. The only thing that let us down a bit was the restaurant - food was pretty bland, tasted like it came straight from a packet. Still, were definitely planning to come back!"

"Overall, the apartment was nice, but it really needs some updates. Adding side tables, bathroom shelves, a full-length mirror and a shaving mirror would make a big difference!"

"Honestly, we had a bit of a rollercoaster experience at Piperdam. About a week before our trip, we were told there was an issue with the hot tub - apparently, they were waiting on a part and hoped to have it fixed by our arrival. They offered us a few options: a full refund, a 20% refund, or just find somewhere else. We went for the 20%, mainly because we knew there was a swimming pool onsite. When we got there, though, the reception didnt mention that the hot tub still wasnt working at all, just that it was heating up and might be ready the next day. Bit disappointing, but oh well. The cabin itself was a letdown, especially considering it was advertised as a log cabin with a hot tub. The hot tub lid was a mess - not something that just happened, it looked like its been neglected for ages. Honestly, it felt like the resort had known about this issue for quite some time and selling that cabin was unfair. The place was supposed to be pet-free, but it looked tired and honestly, Ive seen pet-friendly cabins at other resorts in better shape. The kitchen was pretty sparse - only four cups, four plates, four bowls and a handful of cutlery. For a self-catering place, thats really poor. We even found an ant in the fridge and on the surfaces, which was a bit gross. Sleeping wasnt great either - the mattresses didnt even fit the beds properly and in the twin room, there was only one pillow. Not ideal. The sauna was a red flag too - the water bucket had a metal spoon in it, which couldve caused burns if someone wasnt paying attention. We ate at the restaurant, but honestly, it was overpriced for what you got and some items were missing from our order. The assistant manager sorted it out and refunded us, which was decent of them. We did better at the Birkhill Inn - the portions were huge, the food was delicious and it was way cheaper than Piperdams offerings. All in all, not the best experience, but we made the most of it!"

"Nice overall, but a few small upgrades could help a lot."

"Overall, our weekend was lovely, especially celebrating my daughters 21st. The lodge was nice and spacious and it was spotless, which we appreciated. However, a few things were a bit annoying-some broken dining chairs, a kitchen cupboard hanging loose and the shower door downstairs wouldnt shut. Plus, no wifi! Still, wed come back for sure."

"Weve visited Piperdam several times, but honestly, this last stay was a bit of a letdown. The lodge looked a bit worn out, with frayed carpets and missing fridge parts-definitely not what we expected. The hot tub was more lukewarm than hot and the jets barely worked. Still, we cant fault the facilities or the friendly staff and Howies Bars food and drinks were spot on. Just a shame about the little details!"

"We had an amazing family holiday, despite some minor letdowns with the lodge and restaurant. Overall, it was truly a fantastic experience for us all!"
Sarah - Mar 2024
"We really enjoyed our stay! The lodge was spacious and comfy, the hot tub a lovely surprise and the bar and restaurant had a nice vibe. Great value overall."

"We recently enjoyed a really relaxing break at a lovely spa lodge with plenty of space and a comfy feel. The sauna and hot tub on the big terrace were perfect for unwinding and the peaceful woodland surroundings made it even better. That said, the fridge was a bit of a letdown-quite small for the size of the lodge, especially in a semi-rural spot. Also, if you're planning to use the oven, dont forget oven gloves because none are provided and there arent any plastic glasses for the spa area either. The crockery was enough for each person, but we kept things tidy as we went. Oh and hooks for towels and robes on the back of doors would be a real help!"

"We really enjoyed our stay overall, the lodge had all we needed for a relaxing break. Just a couple of light bulbs were out, which was a minor bother. The meal at the restaurant wasnt quite up to usual standards, especially since I couldnt eat the roast beef this time. Still, weve had better visits before and wed probably go back!"

"We stayed in the lodge and noticed a weird smell. Tried emptying the bins, but then found the washing machine was full of dirty water that wouldn't drain. Bit of a hassle!"

"Great stay, super comfy place with fantastic showers and a cosy sauna."

"We had a fantastic holiday! The staff really went above and beyond and the area was stunning. Only thing missing was a card machine and some mirrors inside the lodge. Thanks, piperdam!"
Emma Carter - Feb 2024
"The sofas are super comfy, though a bit worn and ripped in places. The beds comfy, but the base was quite a bit bigger than the mattress! Honestly, we enjoyed our stay overall."

"We stayed at the Braveheart Pet Lodge at Piperdam and honestly, it was a pretty good break. The space was fantastic and the games room kept everyone entertained. The lodge did feel a little worn out in places and we werent expecting no teapot, that was odd. The hot tub was a bit temperamental, but overall, we had a lovely time!"

"We stayed at the Byron from Monday to Friday and overall, it was a decent spot. Check-in and check-out times are a bit unconventional, but its manageable. The lodge is pet-friendly, which was a big plus for us. The floors and furniture were fairly clean, although the rugs really could do with a wash - they looked pretty grimy. The walls and skirtings could also use a fresh coat of paint to brighten things up. The vacuum was quite stinky when turned on, so that was a bit off-putting. The room was quite small and oddly laid out-walking through the bathroom to get to the bedroom felt a bit awkward. The bed was large and very comfy, though. We spent some time in the bar, which was fine, but it could do with a good hoover. Food was tasty but a bit pricey - those truffle chips were just chips with Parmesan on top, nothing fancy. Still, its not a bad place for a short stay!"
