"Our Leonards Cove review: Weve just come back from another lovely stay at Leonards Cove. Last October, we had a fantastic time with a big family gathering at the farmhouse, so we knew it was a place we loved. This trip was just me and my partner and we stayed in the Pound Cove Spa Loft. Its a perfect spot for two - loads of space and really comfy. Despite the cold weekend, the loft kept us warm with central heating and a log fire, which was lovely. That said, it wouldve been even cosier if theyd had a fire already set up with some logs waiting for us - most places weve stayed usually do that, so it felt a bit of a shame we had to buy extra logs (£20!) just to get it going. The hot tub was definitely a highlight and we enjoyed some great walks nearby. We also tried the new Italian restaurant and the food was really nice, definitely worth a visit. The only small gripe was the towels - we booked a place set up for five people, with three bedrooms, but only got two small bath towels and two hand towels for the three nights. I mean, I wouldnt dream of using the same towel for three days at home, let alone on holiday! Wouldve been better with proper bath sheets. Apart from that, the loft was well equipped and we really loved it. Well probably come back - just maybe bring our own towels next time! Its a lovely spot for a cosy getaway."

"We've just come back from another lovely break at Leonards Cove. In October we had an amazing stay with lots of family at the farmhouse. This time it was just me and my husband and we stayed in the Pound cove spa Loft. It was lovely, only the two of us so loads of space. It was a bitterly cold weekend but lovely and cosy in the loft with central heating and a log fire ( this is not a criticism but it would have been much nicer and more welcoming if a fire was made up and a few logs to get you going on arrival as most places we've stayed seem to do. We did have to spend another £20 on logs, so something to be aware of). The hot tub was great though and we had some lovely walks.The new Italian restaurant was lovely, we had a really nice meal there.* the only slight down point was the lack of big towels. We booked this accommodation which was set up for 5 people( 3 bedrooms) but we were only given 2 hand towels and 2 small bath towels ( there were 2 towels for the hot tub too). I thought this was a bit tight, we were there for 3 nights and I wouldn't use the same towel for 3 days at home! Also would prefer bath sheet size towels ????Apart from the towel thing though the loft is really well kitted out, we loved it and would go again ( bringing towels????)????"

"We had a lovely stay at this charming spot tucked away in a peaceful, private area. The owners were genuinely friendly and always ready to help if needed, yet they didnt intrude on our privacy. After a long day of cycling, the hot tub was just what we needed - absolute bliss! The only thing to mention is that the cottage sits directly under Stansteds flight path, so theres quite a bit of aircraft noise. It took us a couple of hours to get used to it, but it didnt ruin our holiday at all. Would definitely recommend!"

"The apartment is big and spacious. It is well equipped (except for a hairdryer!). Bedrooms are a good size with comfy beds. Great that it has a hot tub too."

"Our stay was really enjoyable! We booked the farmhouse and it was spotlessly clean with all the essentials. The warm welcome from the host made a big difference, showing us around and making us feel at home. The hot tub was a real highlight, perfect for relaxing after a day out and the outdoor gas fire was lovely during the cool evenings. We visited Blackpool Sands and Dartmouth, both beautiful spots. Definitely planning to come back with the family soon!"

"We recently stayed at The Pound Loft and honestly, its a lovely spot. The place itself is really pretty and perfect for a quiet getaway. The main issue we faced was privacy - every time we were in the hot tub outside or just relaxing on the bed, we kept getting disturbed by people checking the jacuzzi or coming into the build to build a fire. It was a bit awkward, especially since we were hoping for a peaceful retreat. Having set times for activities mightve helped us plan better. On our last night, a huge gust of wind caused a tree to break and drop its top on my car! Luckily, no damage, but it was pretty scary. We called a guy to clear the branches and he chopped some off but didnt take the whole tree down, which was understandable. I had to move my car just in case more branches fell. When we mentioned it to a couple of staff members, they just laughed and said, at least you had some excitement, which was a bit odd, but hey, it made for an unforgettable story! Overall, a nice place with a few quirks."

"We had such a lovely stay at Goddard's Mead! Rob and Sharon really put their heart into restoring this historic building and it shows. They gave us a warm welcome, along with Bonnie, which made us feel right at home. The location is perfect for exploring Essex - we spent ages wandering around Thaxted and nearby villages, soaking in the history and charm. Definitely recommend for a relaxing break!"

"We really enjoyed our stay, but the outdoor areas could do with some sprucing up. The tables outside look a bit tired and the cottages in front could use a fresh coat of paint - they kinda spoil the view. Despite that, we'd definitely stay again because the location and views are fantastic!"

The bed was a bit too firm for our liking, but grabbing a mattress topper from Argos in Sainsburys sorted it out quickly. Weve stayed there before, so maybe just our preferences. Definitely recommend!"

"At first sight the chalet was underwhelmingand in need of some minor repairs to rendering but once through the door it was amazing with the most beautiful view to wake up to. The patio area was well equipped with hot tub, sun loungers and a table and chairs. Loads to do in the area . Staff were very accommodating and helpful . My family and I truly had a fabulous holiday."
