Blackwood Forest Lodges

Tucked away in 270 hectares of beech trees, Blackwood Forest has atmosphere in spades. It really is unique - a retreat surrounded by nature and well away from the hustle and bustle of every day life. The park sits within the Forestry Commission Estate and there are loads of walks and bike rides right on your doorstep.

Blackwood Forest Lodges has a coffee lounge and shop, and its own site ranger who can take you on guided walks and activities. Hampshire is renowned for its unspoilt beaches and seaside towns, such as Bournemouth and Southampton, which are full of lively cafés, bars and restaurants as well as a host of entertainment venues.

Golden Oak Hideaway is ideal if you're getting away for a romantic break; it's been built exclusively for a couple and has panoramic views of the forest. The ensuite bathroom has a sunken bath big enough for two and you can enjoy lounging in the hammock, relaxing in the outdoor hot tub - or staying cosy by the log burning stove.

The historic dockyard at Portsmouth is a great place to visit - you can take a stroll around the Mary Rose, which sat at the bottom of the sea for almost 450 years!

Fabulous place
Lorraine, Hampshire
Date of stay: 14th May 2018
A few soft furnishings would deaden the sound a bit more, eg, a rug. Loved how dark it was at night as I'm not a good sleeper and need a very dark room. I've never been anywhere this dark.
Can I suggest that you put yoga videos on the tv and hire out mats. There's lots of space and a real feeling of retreat in the forest.
Paula, Essex
Date of stay: 16th October 2017
Lovely cabin but too remote for our liking. Everything on site, bar, restaurant etc closes at 8.30pm which we did not know prior to our visit. It would have been nice to have an evening at the bar as the closest town was a 20 minute drive away.
Lisa, Newark, Nottingham.
Date of stay: 9th October 2017
Excellent place. Fantastic. Only suggestion would be some sort of Lighting outside along paths at nights.
Sherrie, Basingstoke
Date of stay: 18th September 2017
Excellent, quiet and relaxing away from the hustle and bustle of every day life.

Date of stay: 15th September 2017
I feel that the price we paid for the time of year we went was not value for money.
It was expensive for 4 nights but on day one could not check in until 4pm and checkout on the last day was 10am. On this basis it is not very affordable and I am unsure if I would go again.

Date of stay: 31st July 2017
This year we noticed that the lodge was beginning to look a bit tired in the kitchen and bathrooms. But this was only because the rest of the facilities are to such a high standard by comparison and it will not put us off going again.
Simon, Dartford
Date of stay: 28th July 2017
Before visiting Blackwood forest i just assumed it would be a glorrified Centre Parcs. Im very happy to say i couldnt have been more wrong! The cabins are beautiful, spacious and clean, the nieghbouring cabins are a decent distance away and the beds are really comfortable. My family and I could not have had a more relaxing experience. The hot tub is highly recommended:) the staff were amazing and really helpful. Im not one for holidays but after a week, my wife and I are already looking to get another booking in for later this year.

Date of stay: 19th May 2017
The break was really welcome and we didn't have cause for complaint. I do have one suggestion though - we had three people staying in our lodge, and we found that after we had all been in the hot tub there was no where to really dry our wet things, especially as we had got wet on a couple of walks so had lots of things that needed to dry.
Kerrie, Warwick
Date of stay: 5th May 2017
As above. Cleaners need to be more thorough as people pay a lot of money and don't expect to have to clean things before they unpack.

Date of stay: 9th May 2016
Tree House accommodation is well appointed and the pictures can do no justice on how beautiful and peaceful are the surroundings. I stayed in the actual separate Tree House part of the accommodation. To throw open your curtains to a view of the forest was amazing.
Christopher, Rye

Our only issues were cooking a big family Christmas dinner in a single oven was a little bit difficult.
Jill, Southampton
Date of stay: 4th December 2015
When you walked into the lodge you could smell how freshly clean it was the only thing I would say is that they need to pay more detail to cleaning away the cob webs.
Sarah, Billingshurst Sussex

The treehouse was brilliant to stay in with the family it was big and spacious spotlessly clean we will be returning at Xmas we have two lodges then

The entrance and road to the lodges was very poor, plus speed bumps were not needed as the road was in a bad state.
Jennifer, Southampton
Date of stay: 31st August 2015
I did have to clean all the kitchen equipment before we used it as was still a bit grubby :-/
The whole cabin wasn't as clean as I would have expected unfortunately but it didn't ruin our weekend :-)

Mahdi, Kuwait
Date of stay: 12th June 2015
The lodge was a great place to pick and stay in. It had all what is needed for comfort and situated in a beautiful forest. The toilets, bed rooms are great recipe for relaxation. Nevertheless the cleanliness of the place was below the standard of the lodge. This is my 2nd time in this park and same has been noticed back then. The kitchen was not clean for use and as for the outside BBQ and sesting area it was very dirty that we had to avoid sitting outside. I will go back to the property because I enjoyed my hokiday, however I wish better cleaning job is done.
Sarah, Billingshurst Sussex

The Lodge was lovely it was all modern and had everything we needed in it. Everything was very clean and comfortable and the best part was the hot tub which was checked and cleaned daily if needed. I would recommend this Lodge to anyone.
Katie, Leicester
Date of stay: 1st December 2014
The lodge was excellent well equipped, clean, contemporary and comfortable, everything you could want. I did think the lodges would be more spaced out than they were but they are beautiful and in a stunning setting.
Kim, Kent
Date of stay: 14th November 2014
We would pay next time to choose our cabin as this one was a little more over looked than the last but it did not spoil the holiday at all!
Mick, Norwich
Date of stay: 14th November 2014
We have stayed in many lodges, new and old, but we found this lodge to be the best we have ever stayed in. Cleanliness would have been 10 but the oven wasn't very clean, however this did not bother us as we didn't use it.
Tina, Kings Lynn
Date of stay: 17th October 2014

Date of stay: 30th June 2014
Loved the lodge was very comfortable and spacious. Especially liked the hot tub. The weather was good aswell so we sat outside and had a few barbecues. I was pleasantly surprised at the standard of the accommodation, but thought that an iron and ironing board could have been included
Jordan, London
Date of stay: 28th April 2014
Lovely cabins and beautiful views
Lucy, Arundel
Date of stay: 14th April 2014
Thw two twin rooms were a bit on the small side but the master bedroom was huge!
Karlie, Hertfordshire
Date of stay: 31st March 2014
The Lodges were amazing, perfect for what we needed it for, the weather was also great. We had a 4 bedroomed Lodge which also gave us 2 fridges, one with a tiny little freezer compartment.
Don't get me wrong, we are not fussy or picky and we only had minor irritations.
The only reason why we gave this a lower score on facilities and cleanliness were the following:
There was mould growing round each shower cubicle or bath in the lodge, bearing in mind the lodges have only been there 12 months. The company need to pay a bit more care and attention to cleaning these..
As we ate and drank there the whole weekend we noticed that there were no ice cube trays, they provide dishwasher tablets, cloth for washing up and a tea towel but no washing up liquid. The living room looking out to the hot tub was filthy. The previous clients had left their cigarette butts on the floor on the verandah and they hadn't been swept up either by the staff.
We could only hang wet towels from the hot tub over the backs of the chairs on the verandah and not a line of some kind.
We were slightly over looked, maybe some bamboo to go around the hot tubs so a little more discreet.
Slightly more than what we normally pay for a log cabin mind you.

All in all we had a great time and will be returning.
Jeremy, Wantage
Date of stay: 24th March 2014
Great lodge with everything to hand however the kitchen sink was very dirty when we arrived. No real drama as we cleaned it very quickly, just surprised.
Sarah, Chichester
Date of stay: 3rd March 2014
Fantastic accomodation. The only problem was that the cabins as well as many other accomodations were unable to accomodate for a todler with regards to sleeping.. A travel cot is too small and the single beds are very high. It would have been helpful if they could have provided a bed side rail/support but even then the height of the bed was too unsafe to consider using one. Had to sleep with the little one in a double bed pushed up against the wall.
Jane, Bristol
Date of stay: 10th February 2014
we loved staying in this lodge because it is very spacious and got everything we need.
Emma
Date of stay: 27th January 2014
There was no DVD player which was strange
Maria, Folkestone
Date of stay: 20th January 2014

Lynn, Wraysbury
Date of stay: 30th December 2013
Extremely impressed with quality of accommodation and equipment. The additional touches with the Christmas tree and 'welcome' sign using the Scrabble board goes a long way. Will most definitely be returning.
Bridget, Cape Town
Date of stay: 23rd December 2013
As we were there in the dead of English winter, it would have been nice to have an open fire, otherwise it was excellent.
Glen, Maidstone Kent
Date of stay: 25th November 2013
seemed quite small when we first walked in but turned out to be perfect for the two of us
Sarah
Superb place for families and so dog friendly. Wi-Fi not brilliant so teenagers not so happy but they survived! Accommodation lovely. Food and service at the restaurant A1!
Michelle
Brilliant relaxing holiday!
Mark
Fantastic holiday. Very relaxing and wonderful to be away from everything.
Sam
A very enjoyable, peaceful and laidback short break during February half term. Accommodation was comfortable, spacious and warm. The hot tub was a treat after rainy cycling, walking and archery! Cabins feel private enough due to the site layout and space between them. We looked out onto clear forest land and felt nice and secluded. Enjoyable time away from overcrowded suburbia!
Emma
One of our group found going for a run impossible cos of the very wet/boggy tracks taking the teepee thing down left it very muddy. For us tho, the signage when starting to find a walking route and then staying on such a route was very difficult, the signage is very bad.
Divaykant
Quite clean and peaceful
Garry
Excellent lodge close to the Retreat and location close to little villages with good pubs all serving excellent food. Lodge had everything you need to be a home from home. The hot tub was great way to relax. Thoroughly recommend the holiday.
Marie
The only problem we had was we were unable to read any of the dials on the oven as they had over time been wiped off. The staff were very prompt on coming up to show us how to start the oven. WiFi very slow on loading manuals so it maybe useful to have them either on the tv or in paper copy for guests to read.
John
A fantastic place to relax and unwind.
Lisa
Excellent place had a great time. Only one suggestion maybe some sort of lighting outside at night along paths. Really enjoyed it.
Sharon
I loved staying in the log cabin and the staff were very helpful. I do feel that it would be nice to have more on site than just the one hub, you obviously have to drive all the way out and in to get provisions. The hub only hold a limited stock. My one complaint would be the road in and out is dreadful and although the cabins are in the woods, I think the road should be tarmac. We stayed in the cabin quite a bit as we were worried about our tyres keep driving in and out, we only have a small car not a 4 x4 range rover.
Sherrie
A lovely nice, quiet and chilled weekend. Problems with WiFi all weekend what but can’t be helped because of location. Staff were brilliant in trying to sort it. Would have like a DVD player as we wanted a relaxed and lazy chick flick (group of 8 ladies) evening. Overall brilliant weekend though.
