Wigmore Lakes Lodges Reviews

"We had a pretty decent stay overall. Katies call the day before was really helpful, giving us all the info we needed and making check-in smooth. The lodge looked just like the pictures, but we did notice a strange wet dog smell in the lounge - weird since its supposed to be pet free. We wiped everything down with antibac and used some air freshener, which helped. There was no vacuum, just a brush and dustpan, so cleaning was a bit limited. The TV was tiny and the en-suite shower wasnt great - it kept switching between freezing cold and boiling hot, which was annoying. The weather was pretty rubbish, so we only managed to use the hot tub once and it took ages to warm up from 27C. Such a shame we didnt get to explore Wattleborough or Shrewsbury more, but the setting was lovely and peaceful!"
Emily Carter - Mar 2025
"We had a fantastic stay! The place was spotless and the Christmas tree was a lovely touch. Definitely planning to return with friends soon!"
Emily - Dec 2024
"Nice stay, would recommend it"
Emma Carter - Nov 2024
"Really enjoyed our stay, will definitely return soon!"
Emma - Oct 2024
"Our Wigmore Lakes Lodges review: The place was spotless when we arrived, which was great. The single beds could do with new quilts and mattresses, though. Not a big deal, just an observation!"
Alex - Oct 2024
"We spent a week at Wigmore Lake last Monday to Friday and honestly, it was quite a mixed bag. When we first arrived, we got a call around 10:30 in the morning, which was really helpful. The lady on the phone was lovely-she explained how to access our key and pay the deposit without any fuss and she asked if we had any questions, which we appreciated. Arriving early turned out to be a good thing because our caravan was ready, so we could get in straight away after a long drive. That was a relief! The caravan itself was quite spacious, especially the open-plan living room, kitchen and dining area. The hallway was a decent size too and the bathrooms were surprisingly good for a holiday park. We liked the decking around the caravan, offering a lovely view of someone fishing in the lake-really peaceful. Theres a fish shop just next door and I can honestly say their fish and chips were fresh and tasty. Plus, we found out you can get Tesco delivery right to your caravan, which was handy since both of us ordered a few bits. Now, onto the not-so-great bits. Parking wasnt very clear, which caused a bit of confusion. Bob, the guy on site, came over to ask us to move our car into our assigned space, which was a bit of a faff. We live in the countryside, so flies are normal for us, but this place had a serious problem-flies everywhere and no fly killer available! That was pretty gross. The flooring in the living, kitchen and dining areas was another letdown. It was tacky and sticky underfoot, so we had to wear slippers the whole time, which wasnt ideal. The floor looks quite worn and aged, not what youd expect from a luxury lodge. Speaking of small details, if you need to keep medication in the fridge, check the settings because ours was turned right down and my insulin wasnt very cold. The bedrooms were tiny and we only found a double bed in our room-shouldve double-checked the listing, my bad. The TVs were small; one in the master bedroom and a slightly bigger one in the living room. The brown leather sofas werent comfortable at all, which was disappointing. The dining table definitely needs some attention-looks like it could do with a good sanding and varnish, as the finish was peeling and looked pretty old. The garden furniture was quite a letdown too. The photos showed lovely rattan furniture, but in reality, it was metal with fabric seats that looked like theyd seen better days. The hot tub was another disappointment. It was dirty at the bottom and half the jets werent working-compared to our home spa, this had less power, which was a shame. The decking had been patched up where holes had appeared, but the repair wasnt great. Dogs need to be on leads at all times, which is fair, but if your dog loves a good run, theres a secure dog field nearby in Rowton Grange-only three minutes away and costs £6.50 for half an hour. The cows even came over to say hello, which was quite funny! On departure day, we were told to strip the beds and put the bedding and towels into the red bags provided. The hot tub was emptied by 7 am, which felt a bit early and they left the gate open even though we had a dog and there was another dog on-site. Not the end of the world, but a bit careless. Overall, the accommodation had most of what was advertised, but honestly, I wouldnt call it luxury. The caravan could definitely do with a refresh-just some little touch-ups would make a big difference. The site itself is quite small, with plenty of space to add more facilities or caravans. We made the best of it and had a decent stay, but we wont be returning. Its not quite what we expected, but at least we got some peace and quiet and the view was lovely. Still, plenty of room for improvement, I think!"
Emily - Sep 2024
"We enjoyed our stay overall, but the kitchen lacked some essentials and the twin room was a bit tight. Still, lovely week!"
Emma - Sep 2024
"The lodge was pretty shabby, honestly. Katie was lovely, though."
Emma Johnson - Sep 2024
"The lodge felt a bit tired and the decking was left uncleaned on arrival. Not as spotless as other Hoseasons stays, but it was very relaxing - exactly what we needed after a busy week!"
Emma Clarke - Sep 2024
"We really enjoyed this 3-bed lodge, it had everything we needed for a comfy stay. Its definitely our favourite so far, even if the hot tub wasnt quite as private since it faced the lake. Still loved it!"
Emily - Jul 2024
"Really enjoyed our stay, everything was spot on as usual."
James - Jul 2024
"Relaxing stay with lovely surroundings, would recommend!"
Emma Carter - Jul 2024
"We booked this thinking it was a lodge, but honestly, its more like a caravan than anything! The place definitely needs a proper deep clean - sticky floors and a smell of urine in the main bathroom, which only disappeared after cleaning but then came back by the second day. We only stayed for two nights. Outside the door, theres a mat leading to the hot tub, but it kept slipping and revealed a big hole underneath - not great. On the bright side, the staff were quick to respond, cleaned the floors and fixed the mat, which was good of them. Still, its clear the whole place could do with a serious scrub to make it more comfortable. Wouldnt rush back, but appreciate the efforts of the team."
Jamie - Jul 2024
"Beautiful scenery, peaceful fishing spots"
Alexandra Harper - Jun 2024
"We had a great stay! The place was super comfy, with all the gadgets like a dishwasher, WiFi, washing machine and coffee maker. The en suite bedroom with a TV and bath was lovely. Just remember to bring a beach towel for the hot tub!"
Emma Carter - Apr 2024
"Really loved the stay, would return!"
Emma - Feb 2024
"Great spot for a peaceful getaway"
Emma - Feb 2024
"We had a lovely stay! The lodge was spotless and well looked after and the location was perfect. The sofa wasnt the comfiest, but honestly, its a tiny gripe compared to the overall experience. Definitely good value!"

"Lovely spot, peaceful and well-situated, truly can't complain!"
Oliver - Jan 2024
"We had a lovely stay at the lodge. It was spotlessly clean and super comfy, with everything we needed. The hot tub was checked daily, which was a nice touch. The location is perfect for exploring nearby spots. Katie, the owner, was so friendly and helpful and Bob, the warden, keeps the place looking fantastic. Definitely recommend!"
