Winston Farm Lodges Reviews

"Just got back from a lovely short break at Winston Farm Lodges and honestly, we had a fantastic time! After doing quite a bit of research, we decided to go for the Kingfisher lodge and it truly lived up to expectations. The place is spotlessly clean and kept to a really high standard - you can tell the owners take pride in their maintenance. The little touches, like milk and eggs in the fridge when we arrived, made us feel really welcomed. Plus, there was salt and pepper on the table, which you dont often find in rental places. We had asked beforehand if the twin room could be made into a super king and they had no issue with it - the two singles actually made a huge comfy bed for us. The layout of the lodge was perfect for us as two couples without kids. Having the bedrooms at opposite ends with the living and kitchen area in the middle gave us plenty of space and privacy. Both bathrooms are large and luxurious too, which is a big plus. Steve and Claire, our hosts, were lovely - Steve popped by daily to check on the hot tub and even arrived one day with a bunch of sausages, which was such a sweet gesture. Weve never had that kind of hospitality before. We also met Steves dad, Tony, whos a real character and an absolute pleasure to chat with. The best part? The lodges close proximity to the canal. We couldnt get enough watching the narrow boats go by - its so peaceful and pretty. Were already planning to come back for a two-week stay in the Heron lodge during the summer, especially to enjoy the outdoor space more. A huge thanks to Steve, Claire and the whole team - were really looking forward to returning soon!"

Honestly, we loved it so much that weve already booked for next Easter. Cant wait to go back! Its a lovely place for a relaxing break."

Luke - Jul 2022
"Lovely, peaceful location right beside the canal. The site is very well maintained and the owners are very friendly and welcoming, even bringing over sausages and steak from the farm. Lots of picturesque places to visit within easy driving distance, and lovely walks along the canal. We had a great week and will definitely return."
Lisa - Jul 2022
"Absolutely lovely! The lodge was spacious, clean and well maintained. The surroundings were peaceful with just the gentle passing of narrowboats along the canal. The hot tub and decking perfect for a summer evening. We arrived to find fresh eggs and milk. Later the owner popped round (along with the children, the dog and a lamb in tow) to make sure we’d settled in ok and delivered some fresh steaks and sausages. The personal touches of this family run business would be lost on a larger commercial operation. If you want a relaxing break away this comes highly recommended."
Hazel - Jul 2022
"We had a fantastic break. The lodge was exceptional and the owners were so helpful. Would most definitely recommend as the best lodge we’ve stayed in."
Array - Jul 2022

Karen - Jul 2022
"Fabulous location of this very comfortable lodge where you sit on the huge deck area and watch the narrow boats go past. The accommodation is really comfortable and the owners are lovely people who responded really quickly when we had a small problem with the lodge. They even bring some fresh steak and sausages which were fabulous. If you want a chilled break in lovely surroundings give this a go."
Kevin - Jul 2022
"Beautiful surroundings right by the canal , if you want a quiet and peaceful weekend then this place is just that , was very clean and beautiful lodge ,the people who own it was lovely they even gave us some steak and sausages to cook on the barbecue, would definitely go back ?"
Karen - Jul 2022
"Absolutely fabulous break…..location and lodge were excellent."
David - Jun 2022
"Our 2nd visit to Lapwing. Beautiful spot right by the Shropshire Union Canal. Lodge was spotlessly clean, lovely fixtures/fittings/bedding/towels including towels and gowns for hot tub. Washing machine, dishwasher, oven, gas job and fridge freezer. Very rarely at lodges do you get outside sofas as well as table and chairs and such a big patio that you have at Winston Farm. Welcome pack was a nice gesture. The Mere at Ellesmere, Chick Castle, Chester Zoo and Llangollen all worth visiting. Only suggestions we could make was for more hangers or a set of draws inside wardrobes."
