Woodlakes Country Park Reviews

"Spruce was an amazing lodge with a breathtaking view of the lake. Kids had a great time and loved their cosy rooms. Only negative is the sofas were not comfortable at all but it's not an issue as we spent more time in the hot tub! Amazing little break at Woodlakes. Would recommend and definitely return."
PETER - Feb 2024
"Pleasant lodge, good size for a small family. Lovely clean hot tubClean but needs attention to detail.Downsides - Sofas desperately need replacing, as you fall through them. It definitely needs new mattresss throughout the property as you mat aswell of slept on the wood. Lamps in the lounge would be a great touch as otherwise in the evening your sat in a goldfish bowl."

"Good place to stay hot tub needs roof so can sit in even when raining bar was more for dinning that for people to have a pint and chill"

"Really good holiday and views. Amazing location. Only issue was fridge drawer being broken but otherwise great value for money"
Kerry - Nov 2023
"We loved the location, lodge was overlooking the lake for fishing great for husband and for me relaxing in the hot tub on the decking. It was very peaceful and lovely to walk around the site, lots of wildlife. We did go to one of the site restaurants Jacks fantastic meal :o)The lodge was nice some of the furniture probably needs to be updated, work has started as shower room appeared to be new. Would definitely like to go again!"

"Lodge was dirty, ill equipped & very basic, website advertised it as luxury boutique lodge in which I paid boutique money it was anything bu. Only thing that was lovely was the stunning view.luckily the weather was joyous & spent most of our time outside of the lodge."

"Lodge was way below standard very basic and unwelcomingBroken beds, worn out sofas, broken blindsDining insufficient only 4 chairs Outside dining cheap and nastyGeneral bits and bobs either cheap or missingOne small Tv in lounge area with poor reception Poor to non existent WIFINo Mobile signalNo welcome pack or little quirks like flowers to brighten the welcomeArea was fantastic and Jacks restaurant was fabTo top it off we were welcomed by a large dog poo in the area where a hot tub would beWill not be going back"
Geoffrey - Nov 2023
"Awesome location nice friendly staffFantastic accommodation however a few minor problems with the fittings but not enough to complain aboutIt would be nicer if there was more to do for the kids like a games room Overall excellent 10/10"
Jennifer - Nov 2023
"Booked a new lodge, given the keys and went inside then told it wasnt quite ready and had to move to a different lodge The new lodge we were first offered was a much smaller pod with childrens beds which wouldnt work for a 15 and 19 year old, so asked to stay somewhere else. We were then moved into a XL lodge they werent renting out as it was being renovated and had no hot tub. We stayed here for one night and then moved to our final lodge which had 2 rooms, a hot tub and large living space. The facilities on the park in theory were perfect however we found the Thai restaurant and Jacks restaurant were too expensive as well as the cafe not being open and the enchanted forest just sitting there with no option to properly use it we were slightly disappointed. All the staff were incredible and very helpful even if they didnt fully know what was going on. Overall we enjoyed our stay, there was plenty to do nearby and the wood and lakes are beautiful."

"A beautiful location and some lovely additions to the park - enchanted forest, Jack's restaurant and Pan Asia. However, we did experience quite a few problems. We called ahead to check the details. When we booked, there was a BBQ included. I was told on the phone that they no longer have BBQs. I expressed my upset because we were not told this earlier. They said 8 weeks ago was when they took away the BBQs. As a paid customer, I feel that we should have been informed of this change to our booking. When we arrived at the park to check in, we were just handed the key and a map. No further information or welcome pack.On Thursday morning, we had no water in the pod for approximately an hour. We had no hot water for around 3 hours which meant we could not shower. I went down to reception to tell them. I didn't get a helpful response and after an hour we went back to tell them we still had no update on the water. We were told that the hot tubs were being filled which meant there is no water for the other pods. We planned to go out for the day so this had an impact and meant we went out far later than planned. On Sunday, our shower broke. We told reception at 9am. They seemed more helpful this time and apologetic. However, we were not kept updated and we had to go back to reception after an hour and a half. We were told that they have been trying to get hold of someone but no one is picking up. This was frustrating as again we couldn't have a shower. We asked if we can use another pod to shower in. After 20 minutes, they got us a pod but the hot tubs were being filled so there was no hot water. After 45 minutes, we were sent to a different pod. This pod had no water at all. After four hours in total of looking for a shower we were eventually sent to a pod with hot water. After this inconvenience, we decided to come home a day early We checked out and were given an apology. They know there is a problem with the water and it needs sorting as it does have a negative impact on your holiday. The park has many benefits and the garden was perfect with a dog."

Attractions Near Woodlakes Country Park

Here are some of the activities and experiences you can enjoy on your visit to Woodlakes Country Park. If you discover a worthy inclusion to this list on your hot tub break, please let us know and we'll add it so that other visitors can enjoy it too.
Melsop Farm Park - NR20 3DT
about 23 Miles
We love this attraction in Scoulton, Norfolk with a great collection of animals.  Children and adults alike have the chance to get hands on with the animals in the special handling areas.  On rainy days there is always the indoor play area for the little ones and when it's time for a bite to eat the cafe on the farm is open all day selling drinks and snacks.  Hot food is available over lunch times.
Pensthorpe Nature Reserve & Gardens - NR21 0LN
about 24 Miles
if you and your family are interested in nature and wildlife then Pensthorpe Nature Reserve & Gardens is the perfect place for a day out. This beautiful area of national parkland is home to a huge range of common and rare birds from sparrows to Red Crowned Cranes and also has a red squirrel enclosure - part of a conservation programme and now home to a family of adorable squirrels. Other activities to enjoy at Pensthorpe include pond dipping and Landrover discovery tours. Pensthorpe also played host to BBC'S Springwatch in 2010.
National Horse Racing Museum - CB8 8JL
about 27 Miles
This is a museum with a difference and a must see if you are into horse racing.  You can take guided tours around the museum or choose to wander round yourself admiring the exhibits.  New for 2010 is a Junior Fun Tour which is ideal for children.  Simply ask the gallery staff for a Fun Tour pack when you enter the museum and kids can answer questions and spot clues and tips on the way round.  One of the most popular recent exhibitions is the Thoroughbred: State of the Art exhibition in Gallery 5 on until 31st October.  Check out their websites for the latest exhibitions.
Banham Zoo - NR16 2HE
about 30 Miles
This award winning wildlife attraction has much to offer both families and couples looking for a fun and educational day out.  You can discover a whole wild world of animals with over 1000 different animals from around the world. You will probably want to try and spend the whole day here so you don's miss out on anything.  Highlights include the amazing animals presentation, the birds of prey display and the feeding talks, all of which take place at set times of the day.  This attraction is fantastic value for money and highly recommended.  Their latest event is the Snow Leopard Club Naming Auction and there has recently been a baby giraffe born at the zoo.
Dinosaur Adventure Park - NR9 5JW
about 31 Miles
This fun family day out has been well planned and we think is certainly worth a visit.  New for 2010 is the PrimEvil at Dinosaur Adventure.  Other fun activities include the Dinosaur Trail, Arachnophobia, the Raptor Races and the adventure play area.  The secret animal garden is also popular.  You can play a role in wildlife conservation and sponsor an animal if you wish.  At the moment if you sign up for their newsletter there is a chance to win a family ticket.
Ickworth House, Park & Gardens - IP29 5QE
about 31 Miles
The National Trust Ickworth House, Park & Gardens is a Beautiful 1800 acre country estate with many attractions including a fantastic adventure playground for the children and a range of nature trails which the whole family will enjoy. The site also has a family friendly cycle route a gift shop and a small café
Bishops Boats Seal Trips - NR23 1RY
about 34 Miles
This is a really unique attraction running daily seal watching trips from the middle of March right through to the end of October.  The experienced skippers will lead you out on one of the traditional wooden boats where you will have the chance to see both common and grey seals.  If you love animals then this is one attraction not to be missed! They also do some boat trips combined with guides on dry land such as seal watching combined with a visit to Blakeney Point Nature Reserve, owned by the National Trust.  We think this attraction is excellent value for money as they keep their admission prices low.
Natureland Seal Sanctuary - PE25 1DB
about 35 Miles
Awarded the Lincolnshire Family Attraction of the Year award in recent years this fun day out is recommended. You can see seals and penguins, as well as other animals in the popular pets corner.  Feeding time for the seals and penguins is the real highlight of the day. Entertainment, education and conservation are the main aims of this attraction. Natureland's work with abandoned baby seals has become known worldwide and it's carefully researched rearing and treatment program is now used by many other rescue centres.
Sheringham Park - NR26 8TL
about 38 Miles
The National Trust Sheringham Park in Norfolk was designed by Humphry Repton and the book of original designs can still be seen. The park has many attractions including a viewing tower and a gazebo with amazing coastal views, wildlife trails which young children will love and an exhibition barn where visitors can learn the history of the park.
