Otters Mead Boutique Lodges Reviews

"We had an absolutely lovely stay at Otters Mead. Mary Ann and Gary really went out of their way to make us and the kids feel at home. The lodge was spotless and had everything we needed. The hot tub and fairy lights added a lovely touch. Plenty of activities nearby for the children too. Can't wait to come back!"
Emma - Nov 2024
"Really enjoyed our stay! The lodge was spotless and super comfy. Loved the peaceful countryside views and the kids had plenty of space to play around. Would stay again!"
Emily Carter - Aug 2024
"We had such a lovely stay at this lodge! The place was spotlessly clean and felt really peaceful, perfect for unwinding. The host greeted us warmly, with fresh flowers and some welcome treats like milk, wine, tea, coffee and even shampoo and conditioner - a really nice touch. We stayed in Mead 2, which comfortably sleeps four with two bedrooms. The master bedroom was spacious, with an en-suite shower, a double bed, a walk-in wardrobe and even a TV, dressing table and hairdryer - all really handy. The second bedroom was a twin, also with a good wardrobe, dressing table and TV. The shared bathroom had a bath, which was great. The kitchen had everything we needed for a family of four, including a dishwasher and a washer-dryer, so no worries about laundry or dirty dishes. They even thought about plastic glasses for around the hot tub, which was a lovely addition. Speaking of the hot tub, it was tucked away at the back, super private and perfect for relaxing in the evening with fairy lights twinkling. The Wi-Fi worked perfectly, which was great for planning our days out. Theres plenty to do nearby - lovely pubs for meals and a day trip to Norwich (about 40 mins drive) and Great Yarmouth (around an hour) for some seaside fun. We stayed for four nights from Bank Holiday Monday and felt totally relaxed. Would definitely recommend and were already thinking of booking again!"
Emma Clarke - Apr 2024
"We spent five days at Mead Two and honestly, it was a lovely stay. The welcome pack caught us off guard in a good way - way more stuff than we expected, which meant we didnt have to pack half as much. The lodge itself felt like a proper home, super comfy and fully kitted out with everything we needed. The onsite shop was handy too, with pretty decent prices on essentials. Meeting the owners on both arrival and departure was a real plus - theyre genuinely friendly folks. We all had such a great time and were definitely planning to come back. Would highly recommend this place for a chilled break!"

"We had such a great stay! The lodge was spotless and super comfy. Everything we needed for a relaxing self-catering getaway was there. Perfect location too, surrounded by beautiful scenery. Highly recommend it!"
David - Feb 2020
"Honestly, we were really impressed with how spotless everything was - its such a change from places that feel a bit neglected. The small business vibe really shows, as you can tell the owners genuinely care about your stay. Some small suggestions: having a second key would be handy and clearer instructions for the fire and boiler would help. Spare pillows and blankets would be a bonus and a dressing gown for the hot tub would be lovely. Also, itd be great if the fridge was turned on when we arrived and if there was a recycling bin provided. Overall, quite a lovely stay!"
Amelia - Feb 2020
"We really enjoyed our stay! The lodges were spotless, hot tubs ready to go, super private and it was so peaceful and quiet overall."
Emma - Jan 2020
"Looking forward to our next stay already!"
Emma - Dec 2019
"We stayed at the lodge recently and honestly, it was a lovely experience. The place looked almost br and new, super clean and everything was in perfect working order. The towels, linen and gowns provided were top-notch, making us feel really pampered. Its quite spacious too, which was great. The heating was easy to control, so we were always cosy and we loved the electric fire with the big TV and DVD player for chill-out evenings. The kitchen was well stocked, though with plates and cutlery for two, we didnt really need to use the dishwasher much. Overall, its a fantastic spot for two exploring Norfolk - wed definitely recommend it as a comfy base!"

"We stayed at this holiday home recently and honestly, it felt like new inside-spotlessly clean and really well kept. The owner, Gary, was super friendly and always ready to help, which made our weekend even better. We had a tiny hiccup with the hot tub, but he sorted it out quickly. The little touches like the complimentary wine, toiletries and tea/coffee made a real difference compared to other places we've stayed. The site is still evolving, so its only going to improve. Wed definitely come back!"

"A great place to stay. The location is great and very central so nowhere is too far. The lodge had everything we needed, was really clean and beautifully presented. The hot tub was well used by us all. The only thing that we would like to see added is a couple of recliner type chairs at the back by the tub as it was the only shady spot! The owners were very welcoming and helpful."

Here are some of the activities and experiences you can enjoy on your visit to Otters Mead Boutique Lodges. If you discover a worthy inclusion to this list on your hot tub break, please let us know and we'll add it so that other visitors can enjoy it too.
Dinosaur Adventure Park - NR9 5JW
about 7 Miles
This fun family day out has been well planned and we think is certainly worth a visit.  New for 2010 is the PrimEvil at Dinosaur Adventure.  Other fun activities include the Dinosaur Trail, Arachnophobia, the Raptor Races and the adventure play area.  The secret animal garden is also popular.  You can play a role in wildlife conservation and sponsor an animal if you wish.  At the moment if you sign up for their newsletter there is a chance to win a family ticket.
Pensthorpe Nature Reserve & Gardens - NR21 0LN
about 7 Miles
if you and your family are interested in nature and wildlife then Pensthorpe Nature Reserve & Gardens is the perfect place for a day out. This beautiful area of national parkland is home to a huge range of common and rare birds from sparrows to Red Crowned Cranes and also has a red squirrel enclosure - part of a conservation programme and now home to a family of adorable squirrels. Other activities to enjoy at Pensthorpe include pond dipping and Landrover discovery tours. Pensthorpe also played host to BBC'S Springwatch in 2010.
Melsop Farm Park - NR20 3DT
about 10 Miles
We love this attraction in Scoulton, Norfolk with a great collection of animals.  Children and adults alike have the chance to get hands on with the animals in the special handling areas.  On rainy days there is always the indoor play area for the little ones and when it's time for a bite to eat the cafe on the farm is open all day selling drinks and snacks.  Hot food is available over lunch times.
Bishops Boats Seal Trips - NR23 1RY
about 16 Miles
This is a really unique attraction running daily seal watching trips from the middle of March right through to the end of October.  The experienced skippers will lead you out on one of the traditional wooden boats where you will have the chance to see both common and grey seals.  If you love animals then this is one attraction not to be missed! They also do some boat trips combined with guides on dry land such as seal watching combined with a visit to Blakeney Point Nature Reserve, owned by the National Trust.  We think this attraction is excellent value for money as they keep their admission prices low.
Sheringham Park - NR26 8TL
about 17 Miles
The National Trust Sheringham Park in Norfolk was designed by Humphry Repton and the book of original designs can still be seen. The park has many attractions including a viewing tower and a gazebo with amazing coastal views, wildlife trails which young children will love and an exhibition barn where visitors can learn the history of the park.
Banham Zoo - NR16 2HE
about 19 Miles
This award winning wildlife attraction has much to offer both families and couples looking for a fun and educational day out.  You can discover a whole wild world of animals with over 1000 different animals from around the world. You will probably want to try and spend the whole day here so you don's miss out on anything.  Highlights include the amazing animals presentation, the birds of prey display and the feeding talks, all of which take place at set times of the day.  This attraction is fantastic value for money and highly recommended.  Their latest event is the Snow Leopard Club Naming Auction and there has recently been a baby giraffe born at the zoo.
Bewilderwood - NR12 8JW
about 21 Miles
Bewilderwood is a fun day out for the whole family located in the Wroxham area of Norfolk.  This imaginative adventure park has won awards and we think kids especially will love the characters and the magical tree houses. You can even book your ticket online and beat the queues by visiting their website where you can also view video clips of the park. This place is also the setting for the book 'A Boggle at BeWILDerwood', by local children's author Tom Blofeld.  Parents are not left out either as you're encouraged to take part and play alongside your children.

The site also has a family friendly cycle route a gift shop and a small café
Suffolk Owl Sanctuary - IP28 6HX
about 37 Miles
This amazing owl sanctuary located in the Stowmarket area of Suffolk should be high on your list of places to visit in the area.  The attraction is also a registered charity and carries out important work in the care & rehabilitation of owls from the region.  The sanctuary also raises awareness of owl conservation throughout the UK.  Between April and the end of September there are two superb flying displays each day so you should try and make your visit coincide with one of these displays if you can.
Africa Alive - NR33 7TF
about 38 Miles
Africa Alive is one of Suffolk's largest attractions and one of the most popular in the whole of the UK.  The Africa themed park is very unique and gives visitors the chance to see some amazing creatures in a habitat which is as close to nature as possible. The park can be explored by car and on foot and Hyenas and Giraffes are just some of the animals you will encounter as you make your way around the park. Watch out for the lightning fast Cheetahs and keep your eyes peeled to spot the more reclusive creatures. During a day at Africa Alive there will be plenty of shows and educational talks taking place and if the weather turns then the indoor Adventure Play Ground comes in very handy. The site also has a well stocked Gift Shop and a Discovery Centre.
Natureland Seal Sanctuary - PE25 1DB
about 38 Miles
Awarded the Lincolnshire Family Attraction of the Year award in recent years this fun day out is recommended. You can see seals and penguins, as well as other animals in the popular pets corner.  Feeding time for the seals and penguins is the real highlight of the day. Entertainment, education and conservation are the main aims of this attraction. Natureland's work with abandoned baby seals has become known worldwide and it's carefully researched rearing and treatment program is now used by many other rescue centres.

This is a museum with a difference and a must see if you are into horse racing.  You can take guided tours around the museum or choose to wander round yourself admiring the exhibits.  New for 2010 is a Junior Fun Tour which is ideal for children.  Simply ask the gallery staff for a Fun Tour pack when you enter the museum and kids can answer questions and spot clues and tips on the way round.  One of the most popular recent exhibitions is the Thoroughbred: State of the Art exhibition in Gallery 5 on until 31st October.  Check out their websites for the latest exhibitions.
