We recently spent our honeymoon at this lovely place during a UK road trip. Out of six different properties we stayed in, this one was definitely our favourite. The hosts were super friendly and genuine, making us feel really welcome. The attention to detail was spot on, with great facilities like a DVD selection, snacksand a comfy atmosphere. We also adored the local wildlife - especially the birds and wild rabbits nearby. We’re sure we’ll return someday!

We had such a great break! The place looked even nicer than the pictures, super clean and cosy. There was plenty of treats waiting for us plus fresh milk in the fridge. Loved the peaceful spot with a stream and sheep in the fields. The hot tub and sauna were perfect after a long day. The owners are lovely-nothing was too much trouble. Highly recommend!

We had a lovely, chilled weekend here. The place is so well thought out, really attention to detail. We loved using the fire pit and pizza oven once the rain stopped. The surroundings are stunningand we’d definitely recommend it. We’re already thinking about coming back soon!
Emma - Apr 2024
The pod was adorable and cosy. We didn't chat much with the hosts, but they thoughtfully left snacks and explained how everything operated, which was super helpful after our long hikes. The scenery is breathtaking, even with the rain. Definitely booking again, loved it!
Harriet - Apr 2024
We had such a lovely weekend here! The setting was perfectand the pod itself was super cosy and well-equipped. Loved the personal touches when we arrived - really made us feel special. The DVD library was a nice touch, especially since the Wi-Fi was a bit patchy. Matt and Shenda really have thought of everything to make sure guests enjoy their stay. Honestly, photos don’t quite capture how charming this place is. Thanks a lot for a fantastic break!
Emily - Mar 2024
We had a fantastic minimoon here! Thanks so much for being flexible with our daughter and providing a travel cot-it made everything so much easier. The gift voucher was a lovely touch. Both of you are such welcoming hosts - truly something special about what you've built.
Tommy - Mar 2024
We had a lovely time at Pheasants Nook! The location is perfect with plenty of sights just a short drive away. The cabin itself was spotless and super comfy. The sauna and hot tub were real highlights, even when the weather was a bit gloomy. The owners couldn’t have been nicer or more helpful. We’re already planning to return!
Emily - Jan 2024
We had an awesome time staying in this glamping pod! The facilities really did have everything we needed, plus some extras. It was perfect to disconnect and relax, especially with the hot tub, saunaand pizza oven all on hand. We spent our weekend unwinding with DVDs and card games, which was so nice. Honestly, we can't recommend this place enough and will definitely be back for another stay!
Oliver - Jan 2024
We had such a lovely stay! Honestly, it’s one of the most relaxing holidays we’ve ever had. The sauna and hot tub are brilliantand the cabin is super well thought out and stocked with everything you could need. The bed was really comfyand the bathroom had all the essentials-shampoo, conditioner, body lotionand plenty of soft towels. The pizza oven and barbecue were a real highlight; we made good use of them. Can’t fault anything and definitely plan to return! Cheers to Matt and Shenda!

Matt and Shenda really made us feel at home right from the start. The pod was spotless and had a lovely fresh smell, which was a nice touch. The setting is just perfect, nestled in nature and super peaceful. No WiFi, which we actually enjoyed-it gave us a proper chance to unwind and soak in the views. The outdoor facilities, especially the hot tub and fire pit, were fantastic. We’d definitely come back again, no doubt about it!

Lake District Wildlife Park - CA12 4RD
about 14 Miles
We love this day out in Cumbria where you're encouraged to "take a fresh look".  Some of the amazing animals you will get to see include the only Canadian Lynx in the UK and you will have the opportunity to help their Lynx Conservation Project.  The Asian Fishing Cat is also well worth a look - these cats are known for diving under the water and catching fish!  Other activities include fantastic flying displays and play areas for the little ones...
Ullswater Steamers - CA11 0US
about 20 Miles
This is an award winning Lake District attraction and they have been operating cruisers on Lake Ullswater for over 150 years.  There is no better way to explore the lakes than on water and you could even combine a cruise with a spectacular walk.  For great days out in this region then this attraction is highly recommended and will appeal to couples as well as families.  Corporate groups are also well catered for.
Rydal Mount & Gardens - LA22 9LU
about 20 Miles
Rydal Mount & Gardens are wonderfully situated between Lake Windermere and Rydal Water offering breathtaking scenery. The home of William Wordsworth from 1813 - 1850 the grand home is now lived in by the poets descendents but parts of the house and grounds are open to the public. Why not take a guided tour and see the rooms where many of the famous poems were written. The gardens are beautiful at all times of the year but in the summer offer a spectacular display of colour. There is also a gallery and a tearoom. Discounts are available for group bookings.
South Lakes Safari Zoo - LA12 0LU
about 26 Miles

This is an amazing Cumbria attraction well known locally as well as nationally for how close you can get to the animals.  Described as the most interactive animal park in Europe it's well worth a visit if you are staying in the area.  Open from April to end October some of the highlights are the tigers, penguins, bears, hippos and rhinos.  At 2pm during certain seasons it's feeding time so don't forget to plan your day around this so you can watch the animals enjoying their feed.  Look out for seasonal events such as Halloween Zoo Boo (free entry for kids in fancy dress) and The Magic of Christmas.

Tullie House Museum & Art Gallery - CA3 8TP
about 33 Miles
This is a museum and art gallery in one and will suit those looking for an educational and cultural day out.  You can explore the fantastic art collection including Fine Art, Decorative Art and Textiles.  If you love nature then this aspect of Tullie House will appeal. The museum holds large and important collections of zoological, botanical and geological material. And for lovers of history there is plenty to wet your appetite here. Tullie House collects a wide range of historic materials including objects, ephemera (printed material), photographs and associated information files.  We think this museum and art gallery are excellent value for money as well.
Castle Douglas - DG7 1TJ
about 33 Miles
We also recommend a visit to Castle Douglas and the Treasure Hunt Treasure Trails. These treasure hunts are great fun for the whole family and are an entertaining way to explore a new town or village. Children will enjoy solving the clues whilst learning about the history of the area. The walking trail is suitable for wheelchair users and those with pushchairs so no one is left out of the fun.
Mabie Farm Park - DG2 8EZ
about 35 Miles
Mabie Farm Park is a firm favourite. Ideal for families with younger children ,this family oriented farm park has lots of animals to meet and also offers Donkey Rides, Paddle Boats and Slides as well as Trampolines and Bouncy Castles. Kids can run around on the Soft Play Area while mum and dad relax in the Tea Room. There is also a Farm Shop onsite selling toys, gifts and fresh local produce including cakes and jams. Seasonal activities can also be enjoyed including a spookly tea and walk on Haloween. The Farm closes for the winter on October 31st.
Lakeland Wildlife Oasis - LA6 1JH
about 36 Miles
Located in the Milnthorpe area of Cumbria we love this local attraction.  With an eclectic mix of fascinating wildlife and hands on displays this centre is educational as well as fun.  You can wander around at leisure admiring the exhibits which range from chameleons to computers. Some of the most threatened species are kept at the park as part if international breeding programmes.  Check out their website for the latest opening times and admission costs which are great value for money.  There are discounts for pre-booked parties of 12 or more.
Happy Mount Park - LA4 5AQ

Happy Mount Park has attractions for the whole family including several play areas, a miniature railway, crazy golf, putting green and trampolines, there is also a paddling pool where the little ones can splash around in the summer and a café where the adults can relax with a drink. During the summer months and especially during school holidays live music can often be enjoyed.
