Date of stay: 29th June 2018
The year old Willow Platinum Swim lodge was fitted out to be very high specification and had plenty of space for the four of us. The blinds in the bedrooms were fiddly but everything else was top drawer including the very large hot tub. The forest lodges are set in trees a short walk above the main site buildings and as such have automatic lights that come on after darkness an unintended consequence is the attraction of insects in an area where you might have an open bedroom window.
Chris, Glasgow

Catherine, Newcastle Upon Tyne
Date of stay: 15th June 2018
We had a delightful stay for a seven day period in June 2017. The cabin was fantastic, the only downside was the slightly broken and ineffective shower. Had we raised this with staff I'm sure something would have been done but it was not sufficient to ruin our stay by any means. Staff were fantastic on all accounts and even posted out to me some left property following departure. We were disappointed to learn that the onsite restaurant was to be closed during our stay but happily different daily options were offered as an alternative and we really enjoyed the ferry ride and BBQ at Tower Knowe.

All in all there were 4 adults and 2 dogs in our cabin and we had a throughly lovely trip and even caught some sunshine.

I am looking to book again for next year.

Date of stay: 1st June 2018
Absolutely loved our holiday. We spent most of the time in great outdoors because there is so much to see and do in the park and surrounding areas. Loved the kids' parks and swimming too. The artwork around the lake made our walks more interesting and the wildlife was great to see - red squirrels, rabbits, hedgehogs, lots of types of birds. The ferry was handy for getting across the lake and we enjoyed our trips out to Bellingham, Hadrian's Wall and the Kielder Observatory.
Helen, Harrogate
Date of stay: 28th May 2018

Date of stay: 14th May 2018
What a brilliant place. Prior to visiting we were really pleased with the price and the booking process. To be honest we were not expecting the lodges to be so amazing for the price we paid. Very well kitted out, comfortable beds and brilliant hot tubs which we made full use of. The location is stunning, lovely countryside and lakeside walks. And lots os activities (including the massive free trampoline) for the kids. The staff are trained to a very high standard - EVERY person was friendly and helpful. already looking forward to our next visit.

Date of stay: 4th May 2018
Second time in Keilder so we love the place.
Devon, Penshaw
Date of stay: 4th May 2018
Otterstone spa was lovely, loved the hot tub but it wasnt that dog friendly. I understand why the front of the decking was open, to enjoy the scenery and wildlife. However, the dog could just get out. He is very friendly but I wouldnt want him just roaming around, due to this we had to make our own little fence to keep him in. I think a 3ft light fence around the bottom would be more dog friendly and child friendly too
Pam, Tenbury, Worcestershire
Date of stay: 27th April 2018
Fantastic week, can't wait til next time
John, Sunderland
Date of stay: 27th April 2018
We stayed in a two bedroom log cabin. There was a lovely bathroom with a shower over the bath. The open plan lounge/ dining room/ kitchen area was a generous size. The kitchen was adequately stocked with crockery and cutlery, pots and pans, kettle, toaster, microwave.

Fantastic holiday in wonderful surroundings. Having absolutely ZERO mobile signal was a bit of a shock (& blessing??).
Lodge was perfectly adequate - reasonably equipped, very comfortable, spacious albeit looking a tiny bit tired in places.
Resort centre very nice, bonus that lodge guests have some activities included.
Pool is small but didn't stop kids loving it.
Perfect area for biking/walking.

Great lodge and hot tub. Just a bit annoying have to take leads out of PS to watch TV, think a lead was missing. Beds were comfy, nice bedding and bathrooms. Bathrobes were useful and plenty of toilet rolls, etc provided.
Catherine, Harrogate North Yorkshire
Date of stay: 9th April 2018
All fantastic, it was plusher than home. Free toiletries and dishwasher tabs included. We even used a complimentary selfie stick to take a family photo on the lake and at South Shields,
Rachel
Date of stay: 9th April 2018
Fantastic 3 night stay with son and my parents and their elderly dog. Made the most of the GoActive activities, the pool and the free ferry ride. Staff were friendly and helpful. Hot tub was just the ticket after busy days visiting the bird centre, whizzing around on segways and walking and swimming. Bit too pricey for us to do again but really enjoyed it!
Kirstie, York
Date of stay: 6th April 2018
Apsolutly amazing. We have stayed here in the past and it just keeps improving. The facilities are just right without being overly commercial. Its just right, please dont get all touristy though, it doesnt want to feel like somesort of holiday camp eg Centre Parks (thats not whats needed) You have everything spot on. Its a perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of a hectic life to spend quality family time, in luxury.
Sonia, Whitley Bay

Amazing property with a truly stunning view. But some areas where more thought could be taken to improve things or fix things that are broken. For example, the observatory door was broken and members of the public kept going in; the Dolce Gusto needs replacing; instructions for using things would have been helpful.
Christopher, Bolton

Date of stay: 2nd January 2018
Lodge was excellent, only criticism we had was that there wasn't sufficient lighting in the outside area near to the hot tub. When entering and leaving the tub - especially in the bad weather we had - it was difficult to see what you were doing. Usually by the time you had got settled the upstairs security light had turned off, it definitely needed a second outside light. Lodges were really well heated and most of the time we were walking around in t-shirts, the kitchen, which we used quite a lot, was very well equipped.

Highly recommend this resort, it's not cheap, but it is lovely. Ideal if you have an active dog who loves to walk
Joan, West Auckland
Date of stay: 27th December 2017
The freezer and cupboards contained food left from previous tenant.
The stargazing pod was very dirty and there was no means of lighting the wood burner. I was told a log would be provided.
The shower in the ensuite leaked and some of the radiators needed bleeding.
Paul, Cumbernauld
Date of stay: 15th December 2017
Beech p.stars is a great lodge, bose sound is good for ur music, ps4 works via a hidden switch under the shelf,, not many tv channels, bathrooms are great,,
Kirsty, Rotherham
Date of stay: 8th December 2017
The hot tub was a great addition, the only grumble was you had to go out the front of the lodge and round the side, where as the ones we have stayed in before have been out through the patio doors and have been private so the dog can come outside with us, where she wasn't able to this time as there wasn't a fence to keep her in the decking area.
Kristina
Date of stay: 8th December 2017
I would recommend this lodge to anyone. It is nicely furnished, clean and comfy.
Adam, Durham
Date of stay: 1st December 2017
The lodge was again wonderful, but as trends change and almost year round use, the lodge is starting to become a bit dated. Still a wonderful setting though. Amazing hot tub, and stunning panoramic views from the balcony. A quaint kitchen, and a few of the bedrooms are a bit small. Already returning to Kielder next year.
John, Dipton,co Durham

This is a lovely Lodge though I do believe the water pressure needs attention and of cause WiFi is a must after spending most of your time out and about you still need to be able to contact the rest of the world.

Holidayed in November for 4 nights. It rained for 3 days, snowed on and off too but the lodge was warm and cosy and we had a great time just chilling out. Would highly recommend. And we are booking again.

Charlotte, Newcastle Upon Tyne
Date of stay: 17th November 2017
No wifi in cabin but at the restaurant and shop. (The none wifi made the experience better in our opinion just it's not well advertised) Also the oven in cabin 4 is insanely noisy until you have used it a few times. Apart from that perfect.
Gill, Whitley Bay
Date of stay: 13th November 2017
Loved the holiday the only slight problem was no parking directly outside the lodge. This would not have been a problem as we could take the car next to the lodge to unpack then park a short distance away, however due to someone else parking inconsiderately this was not possible. But that did not distract from the overall wonderful holiday.
Ian, Leeds

Date of stay: 6th November 2017
We booked the platinum stars cabin due to the stargazing pod. Our welcome from the staff was great, with a glass of prosecco whilst checking in. The cabin itself was beautiful, very modern, very clean and facilities were great. The PS4 was a great touch, although no games were provided. The hot tub was lovely, we had very clear nights so star gazing was a must. Unfortunately due the outside lights by the hot tub not having an option to turn them off, this hindered seeing the amazing stars from the hot tub due to the light pollution.
The stargazing pod is a great feature, its cosy and has has a log burner inside to keep you warm. While we were there it was totally useless due to condensation, nothing could be seen out of the top or any of the windows because of this issue. This was very disappointing for us. As this was the main reason we booked this particular lodge.
We drove a view point to stargazing and it was great. The staff were very helpful, on departure we were sent away with sweets, tea and coffee.

Date of stay: 30th October 2017
Our lodge (no.32) was a bit tired looking especially on the outside deck where much of the wood varnish was peeling away. It also could have been a lot cleaner in places such as bathrooms and in the corners and along the skirting boards.

It would be handy to have access to a mop and bucket for the floors in the kitchen and lounge areas especially when you're staying for seven nights.

Date of stay: 2nd October 2017
Willow was stunning, and far exceeded our expectations. It was a Lodge of exceptional quality. Attention to detail was impressive. Bedrooms were exquisite. Bathrooms/Shower Areas were superb. In the living/dining/kitchen areas, everything had been considered before we arrived. Overall, superb quality.

The ONLY problem we had - and we did raise this with staff - was the unfinished road leading up to the Lodge. It was a 'mud track', which meant we were unable to avoid bringing mud and dirt into the Lodge. This needs to be attended to as matter of urgency.
David, Knott End On Sea.

Date of stay: 22nd September 2017
Recently spent 4 nights with my 2 dogs at Kielder Waterside. stayed in an "Otterstone Lodge" which was lovely - very well equipped, clean, comfortable, warm and welcoming when we arrived.
Lots of thoughtful little touches around the place, from toiletries to tea bags and a welcome pack on the table. Was even provided with a selfie stick!
Decking went around 2 sides of the lodge and was enclosed so I could have the door open and not worry that the dogs would disappear!
Had come prepared with spray and citronella burners but luckily, not too many midges about at this time.
Lots to do if you wanted to.
I suspect if you came in school holidays it would be busy and noisy but at this time of year it wasn't too busy.
Lots of nearby walks and dogs can go off lead most of the time.
Slight lack of dog bins around, would be good if there were some near start and finish of the walks...might encourage people to bin the waste bags instead of leaving them lying around or hanging from the trees!
staff at reception very pleasant and helpful.
Was given complimentary hot drink, bottle of water and tin of sweets when checking out.
All in all, a lovely break, thoroughly enjoyed by both myself and the dogs.
Hoping to go again next year.

(Didn't use the on site restaurant so can't comment on it.)

Date of stay: 22nd September 2017
Lodge very nice and comfortable . Site and surroundings as expected . Only real disappointment was almost complete absence of wildlife despite all the claims on the brochures - neither we nor anyone we spoke to saw a single red squirrel and the bird variety seemed rather limited- plenty of rabbits though.

Enjoyed boat trip which was very informative

Date of stay: 18th September 2017
The price was ok for the stay, but a little on the high side so our expectations were also high. Could have done with a few more dishwasher tablets. Only staying for a few days and although self catering didn't really want to have to take loads of cleaning stuff to rationing the dishwasher tablets wasn't great, just a couple extra would have been good.

Date of stay: 11th September 2017
All very beautiful except for the very muddy, puddle strewn and uneven road which unfortunately made it a little difficult for our elderly parents when going outside for a walk or to the car.
Once that is rectified we would certainly revisit with them.

Date of stay: 11th September 2017
As above it was lovely. I think the hot water tap in the kitchen should be labelled as I turned it on not realising and hurt my finger.
Furniture was good quality. Loved the walk in ensuite! The little touch of milk was nice. Didn't want to leave
Leanne, Chorley
Date of stay: 8th September 2017
Bed a bit small and the brown cabins could do with a lick of paint. But everything else was super, the great bits massively outweigh the small bed!

Beautiful lodge with excellent furnishings
Elizabeth, Hull
Date of stay: 1st September 2017
Beautiful lodge with lovely, comfy furniture, bathrooms with underfloor heating and a nicely fitted out kitchen. It was delightful having complimentary slippers and fluffy robes, and the hot tub was divine, however it would have been great if there had been somewhere inside the lodge to hang the robes up - there were no hooks anywhere!
Cleanliness was great everywhere - apart from a thick layer of dust on the light shade over the dining room table, which some previous occupants had drawn pictures in!
We also had trouble with several of the TVs. We had maintenance out three times and actually didn't have a working tv in the master suite at all for the whole week.
The BBQ hut was great, we all really enjoyed using it.

The lodge was perfect for our needs as a family of 4, plus a dog. The hot tub was a huge treat, especially as we had an uninterrupted view. It was starting to look a little tired, particularly around the windows, but it was spotlessly clean.

As a family of 4 with 2 under 10 and a dog we all really enjoyed our holiday. Having a birthday celebration at the Boat Inn made it a great treat as the staff were really helpful and friendly.
We can't wait to go back again and explore the walks and cycle rides further.
Rama, Walsall
Date of stay: 18th August 2017
The accommodation was beautiful but we had a bit of a mishap whereby our initial accommodation that we booked hadn't been cleaned when we got there so we were quickly upgraded. Unfortunately though, again it was very beautiful but there was no towels in there, the tv remotes didn't work properly (very temperamental and frustrating) and the lodge phone stopped working after just 2 days!! What was worse is that THERE IS NO PAY PHONE ON SITE! This was informed but nothing sorted. So with no signal on the mobile phone we couldn't contact family. Very disappointing.
Amy, South Lakes
Date of stay: 14th August 2017
The Redesdale lodge had everything we needed. Oven with grill and hob, microwave, kettle, toaster, washing machine and tumble drier, dishwasher, under counter fridge and an under counter freezer. All the utensils and pots and pans you needed from cheese grater to baking trays. Very well stocked and had everything we needed.

The site is amazing with everything you need and more.

Our Otterstone 5 cabin was in an open area near the bird of prey centre and had lovely views over the surrounding hillsides. The cabin had a double bedrrom with en-suite shower and twin room with separate bathroom. It looked like the overhead shower had been removed from here and the whirlpool bath took forever to fill up! The water tank was extremely noisy and would start filling up in the early hours but apart from that, the cabin had everything you could need and each bedroom had freeview TV as well as the lounge. There were lots of rabbits and birds to watch and the red squirrel hide is only about a 10 minute walk away. The on-site restaurant had a good choice and Sunday roasts were served all day. We waited a while for service one evening but once our order was taken, food arrived quickly. Plenty of activities to choose from and you get a schedule in your welcome pack. A bonus was a parking permit for the week. Will definitely return.

As above but just to say the hot tub was great and the Planetarium talk in the games room on the Thursday was very interesting. That said we were the only three present and if there were ever 15 people in there it become very hot and stuffy but well worth the £5.

The lodge was absolutely stunning, a true home from home, with all the luxuries you would expect from a high end holiday resort. We were impressed at how warm and cosy it was. The site is much bigger than you would assume, and would be best suited to families with transport as there's only so far you can get on foot or via the ferry. The surroundings are breathtaking, beautiful scenery to be enjoyed by young and old alike. Plenty of areas for picnics, bike rides or even a hike. Our lodge was within walking distance to the main reception, which had a small shop which also sold gifts, connected to this was the swimming pool which was quite small but not in a bad way - my children liked that it wasn't overcrowded and they could have almost free rein most of the times we visited.

A beautiful relaxing place to stay. The lodge was clean, tidy and well furnished.

A little miffed that you can no longer hire boats or canoes etc. It would have been great to get on the water rather than just look at it.

Bar and restaurant was good for food and drinks. Didn't have too many ales on tap though.

All in all a great break with excellent surroundings.

We absolutely loved it - especially the hot pool on our large decking area. Added bonus - we were not bothered at all by any midges or mosquitoes, but there was bite repellent provided in the cabin if we had needed it.
The one clear evening we had to study the dark sky was fantastic - never seen so many stars and even saw several shooting stars.
Amanda, Basingstoke
Date of stay: 8th August 2016
Lovely log cabin (a proper one, not a clad caravan), in a beautiful setting, plenty to see and do, lots of laid on activities. Set on the beautiful, man made Kielder Water. Very relaxing. Miles from anywhere so very cut off. Make sure you do your food shop on the way there as it is half an hour to the nearest co-op, which is not very big. Although there is a v small shop on site for essentials, and the on site restaurant caters well and has v friendly staff. Your cabin key fob also has a key for the games room, which we didn't find out until later, useful to know for rainy days. Beautiful place to just sit in the hot tub and stare at the view. Lots of wildlife - many many birds, red squirrels (which we didn't see as the kids were too noisy), and deer. The local castle had a stick man trail for the younger kids, easier for them than walking around the lake.
Nicola
Date of stay: 8th August 2016
Location is idyllic, staff are friendly knowledgable and very helpful. The furniture and fittings is of good quality - PS3 for children and hot tub for everyone makes it worth the upgrade. Window frames are old and tired and mouldy but I believe they are to be refitted soon - not a major issue but surprised given the quality of everything else and luxurious price tag!

Lovely spacious lodge. Comfy beds, good facilities in kitchen, lots of space around the lodge so don't feel overlooked. Only lost a couple of points as only provided one bath towel each for the whole week. If I'd realised I would have brought some hand towels. Could also do with fly nets on Windows as gets ally hot but too many midges to open windows.

We have no fault to report on the lodge, everything was great despite reading the mixed reviews before we booked it. You can park outside your lodge. What I will suggest is stock up on food and drinks before you get there as there is very little shops, remember you are literally in the middle of nowhere and no phone signal either. The onsite shop has bare essentials and there is a shop in Kielder itself where Kielder Castle is but other than that none nearby. There is a pay phone inside the lodge itself which you can use but remember to have change. Other than that the lodge was really nice. We will be back.

We had an absolutely amazing time, everything was fantastic from check in and departure, our only 2 pieces of feedback are that despite it been advertised that all activities would be operational the boat trips were not available and the floors in both bathrooms needed some attention due to wear and tear this left some areas of the grout quite sharp.

Enjoyed our stay very much. The weather was good for The beginning of March which I think made a massive difference to our stay. The surrounding area is beautiful and we had no problem finding places to eat, would recommend the carriage tea rooms for a light lunch or breakfast. No telephone reception for mobile phones but you can use wifi in the on site pub. A pay phone in the lodge provided peace of mind if we needed to be contacted or we wanted to check home. Loved it here and would definitely come back.

Teresa, Ashington
Date of stay: 4th March 2016
The lodge overall was more spacious than it appears from the outside, so was bigger than I was expecting. If there was any down side at all, I would say that the ensuite shower room and toilet was very compact. I am quite petite in stature and I found there wasn't a lot of room for manoeuvre. The kitchen was fully kitted out with a dishwasher, cooker, washing machine, microwave etc with all the relevant manuals in a drawer to hand for correct and safe use. This was my first experience of a hot tub, and I will definitely be booking a lodge with a hot tub next time. Perfect, regardless of it being the first week in March in Northumberland!!!!

Lovely lodge. Clean and good facilities. Fully relaxing holiday. Hot tub lovely. only small point there seemed to be a high level of chlorine in the water, not great for your skin. A better shower would also improved the lodge. Bedrooms quite small. Kitchen great and equipped well. Would stay there again. Note lodges are on a steep hill up from the visitor centre.

Date of stay: 8th February 2016
There is no mobile signal or wifi at the lodge therefore a pay phone is provided- unfortunately this didn't work either, so it's a good job we didn't have an emergency.

Lovely site but really disappointing that there are so many lights on the paths - we went to photograph the stars, with being a dark sky park. That was hampered a great deal by the site lighting. There are plenty of alternative types of light that could be used, or at the very least take every other light's bulb out. Shame.

party of 4, myself (50) my mother (76) daughter (18) son (14), we stayed over Christmas and had an amazing time. We were early to check in but the staff checked too see if our lodge was ready and let us in early. The lodge was lovely, spotlessly clean and some essential supplies such as milk, tea, coffee and biscuits left for us, there was also a small hamper with chocolates jams and cookies and also a nice bottle of Prosecco. lovely touch along with bathrobes and slippers for every one and a Christmas tree in the living area. There was wreath on the door and even a real tree with lights outside the front. The only things I could negatively comment on if I had to, was that the sofa was not the most comfortable and the pub was closed throughout our stay (we knew the pub closure prior to our visit), neither things spoiled our stay, just me being picky.
The hot tub was lovely after a nice walk in the cold, especially in the snow on Christmas day! the children even managed to exist without wi-fi although they did make a trip down to reception to try and check in with the outside world.
Every member of staff provided excellent customer service, with special thanks to the lady in the shop and the guy who put the lights on our tree, they were so helpful and nothing was too much trouble. All round a great break, we would definitely do it again and would recommend it for a get away from it all Christmas.

The only things that would have added to the trip would have been a back entrance out of the cabin as it was awkward going right around but nothing major. Also an outer gate to close off the outside back from the hot tub so we could let our dog roam in that space with us, other than that it was perfect.
So calming and comfy and lots of little extras that made our festive break memorable, especially the Christmas tree and hamper, lovely touches!

The lodge was very comfortable and spotlessly clean, you are kept beautifully warm inside, when the weather is cold outside.
The furniture looks new and is comfortable too, especially the double bed. There is a roomy wardrobe inside the bedroom and plenty of drawers, bring more coat hangers with you.
I found the Hadrian lodge brilliant value for money, in fact I couldn't fault it whatsoever.

Lodge a bit grubby. Hole in wall behind bathroom door and could do with new sealant around bath

We felt that this Lodge would benefit from more lighting in the kitchen area, and a larger outside Porch to facilitate changing of boots/shoes and outdoor clothing before stepping inside the living area.

This is my second year at Keilder and I'll return hopefully next year. The reception staff are first class, very helpful and friendly. The lodge is clean and comfortable, very important for me dog friendly. Loads of lovely walks. Kitchen was being refurbished while I was there which I was a bit disappointed about as was looking forward to eating there, again bar/ restaurant dog friendly. This year I upgraded for a hot tub, loved it and will do that again.

Lodge had all home comforts described. Kitchen well equipped (we found it useful to bring our own baking tray this visit though). The only reason for this low cleanliness scoring 8 was due to one bedroom carpet smelling slightly of sick

Had a really great time on what was our honeymoon. Only a couple of points to raise we felt that the oven didn't seem to be at the right temperature and the hob did not heat as expected.
Something else that would have been useful would be the option to hire dog cages as we had to bring our own or doggie daycare.

The lodge itself was beautiful, a lovely hot tub with stunning views overlooking the reservior and the whole lodge itself was immaculate, couldnt fault it at all. two parking spaces for both our cars and we even had some robes and slippers which were great for use with the hot tub, as the skies are so dark around Kielder you can sit out on your private decked area in the hot tub looking at the stars! beautiful holiday and a fantastic lodge.

Fantastic view over the water from this lodge. Very quiet location. Lovely hot tub (shame about the midgies). Lighting in the lodge very dim, difficult to read. This could easily be rectified with a couple of floor lamps. Only one towel per person provided for weeks stay.
David, Thorpe Le Soken
Date of stay: 14th August 2015
The Lodge was lovely - it's setting, with its views was ideal, we could even watch the meteor shower from our bed!

It was well looked after but attention should be paid to light bulbs and the knives were appalling and virtually useless.

Having said that we would not hesitate to return to that Lodge again.

Very spacious, clean and comfortable cabin. Warm and dry with enough heaters to stay comfortable through the colder months.

Comfortable beds, had to move some furniture to fit in the travel cot which had been provided but I'm sure the staff would have helped if necessary.

Nice clean bathroom with a good shower and heated towel rail.

Had a well equipped kitchen and handy extras that you don't always expect like washer dryer and a payphone. Lovely comfy sofas.

We probably didn't have the best view on the park but pleasant enough to look out on the trees, birds and rabbits. Nice and quiet with the exception of the house martins nesting above the window which really just added to the charm.

There were minor problems eg the plug in the bathroom washbasin could not be easily removed to allow the water to drain, and more coat hooks would have been useful for the wet clothes. Perhaps a removal line over the bath would be possible. The single bedroom was very dusty, which unfortunately seemed to cause the youngest (aged 9) member of the party to cough. Something which resolved on her return home. On the whole the cabin was comfortable and well supplied with utensils, etc.

The cabins were lovely and comfortable with fantastic views of the lake and forest. The outdoor seating area would have been ideal if we had had good weather so perhaps another trip in the summer is called for. Overall we loved our stay. My only criticism is that there are no hooks on the back of the bathroom doors/hot tub area. Apart from that the cabin was perfect!

Our lodge was beautiful and not overlooked. The double bedroom was huge and our only gripe would be that it lends itself to a king size bed, not a double. The furniture was modern and the kitchen had all the amenities we needed.

Enjoyed staying in the Redesdale it was warm and clean and comfortable. We were happy with the kitchen equipment, especially the dishwasher and the washer dryer was a plus for all the muddy wet clothes from an active 4 year old ! We felt it was just a little expensive but would stay again.

Date of stay: 13th April 2015
Generally the accommodation was very good - certainly better than a certain other holiday site! Kitchen was very well-equipped and spacious enough to cook properly. One thing the huts desperately need, though, is hooks to hang coats, dressing gowns, towels, etc. Also, no point having an ironing board without an iron :)

Date of stay: 10th April 2015
Loved the lodge, which was very well equipped. The area is beautiful and certainly worth visit.
The shop was poorly stocked and I believe this is an area for improvement (especially since I noted an ASDA delivery van!)
My children took part in the 'go active' water walkers activity which they absolutely loved, might be an idea to put it on the lake in an enclosed area over the summer months?
I think that the mountain biking routes could be better advertised at leaplish reception as it wasn't until I went to Kielder village that I was aware that there were so many routes
Overall we all loved our time at Kielder water and would definitely revisit.

We had a lovely relaxing family break at Kielder Lodges. The Staff were very helpful and friendly. It was so relaxing and even the poor weather didn't stop us from enjoying the hot tub. Louise, Unsworth
Date of stay: 30th March 2015
The lodge was great and we enjoyed the hot tub too.
One slight concern was the provision of a foam fire extinguisher for use in the cabin. We realise that this is the most non toxic type for people to touch, however they are dangerous to use on electical fires unless the power is isolated first and we think that the most likely type of fire you would get in the cabin would be electrical in origin. They are also not effective if you are not trained to use them. ie you must spray the foam up above the fire to make a smothering blanket of foam over the flames rather than spray it at the fire! It would be better to supply dry powder or Co2 extinguisher, or perhaps just stick to the fire blanket

Great location, fabulous break. Only couple of little issues (only one bathrobe supplied instead of three, no slippers all of which we needed for using the hot tub, also damaged lead for DVD player),which were resolved immediately by very helpful and friendly staff. Hand towel in bathroom would have been beneficial.

A clean and spacious cabin, some attention to detail needed with more specific things (dirty crockery; dryer was very poor). Expected more than one bin bag and washing up liquid to be provided. Shower room was very cold, but the rest of the cabin was warm. Beds were comfortable and linen clean. Hot tub was great and was cleaned every day.

Date of stay: 27th February 2015
I picked this holiday at fairly short notice, as it had good disabled access whilst still having activities for small, boisterous children! Wheelchair access was not perfect as the area is pretty hilly (after the first day I opted to drive down the hill, because pushing a fully grown man up that steep an incline is not my idea of a holiday!) but all things considered it is as accessible as it could have been made to be. The cabin was very well appointed and well furnished, and the children were very impressed with their bathroom as it had a whirlpool bath! The playgrounds are lovely and well maintained, the shop is well stocked and the pub is lovely! I recommend!

Lovely and comfortable. Had been three years previously but had revamped and redecorated which was good as was concerned may have been a bit shabby. As we went in February was a bit cold the first day as heating had been off but soon warmed up. Only negative was the washer / dryer which when switched to dry only as per the cycle programme it filled up the bottom with water and then had to be emptied then spun which made towels wetter than when they went in. Didn't dry them very effectively either. Rest of stuff worked well and when a bulb had blown in bedroom, they came and replaced it promptly.

The Otterstone Superior Lodge was absolutely superb. It was really, really well fitted out with everything that you could possibly need for a holiday. We had a lovely relaxing family break enjoying the excellent facilities. The hot tub was great! The accommodation was fabulous! The beds were very comfortable! The rest of the facilties were suberb! The staff were very friendly and helpful. The only negative comment was the step hill we had to climb to reach the lodge. Otherwise a perfect break and we certainly intend to return.

Real home away from home. Very well equipped kitchen, comfortable settees and beds plus complimentary toiletries in the bathroom and shower room. Never had a self catering holiday before and this far exceeded our expectations. Hopefully we will be back one day.

The lodge was lovely, clean and warm. It has everything you could need in the kitchen and bedrooms. The hot tub was a real treat at night. Adding an extra screen would give more privacy but the location of our lodge didn't have many passers by. Those who like to eat out should note that there is only a few places to eat so bring enough food.
Jennifer, Braco

The only issues I had were that the knives in the kitchen were a bit blunt and the tv kept switching itself off on certain channels but apart from that, great!

Lovely lodge - well equipped for six (no spares though for others joining us). Spotless inside and plenty towels and clean extra bedding. One of the best lodges we have stayed in.

Dining area too small for 5 people. Beds were comfortable
Patricia, Norfolk
Date of stay: 26th September 2014
Cabin excellent although we could have done with some hooks in bedrooms and bath rooms for robes etc and shelving for toilet bags. A coat stand near the door would have helped with coats.

First time we've stayed in one of these types of cabins. Had everything you need.

Date of stay: 22nd September 2014
Towels were a little limited - could have done with one main towel and a hand towel, as opposed to just one main towel.

Could have done with some larger serving and cooking utensils in the kitchen.

Otherwise it was a lovely lodge, highly recommended.

Had a brilliant time something for all ages and abilities. As said before outside lighting would improve safety now there is a hot tub outside but lack of it didn't stop our enjoyment.

Lodge had everything you need and was clean. TV, DVD and ipod dock were good. Hot tub was great and really made it for us. Would have liked to see some lighting on the decking area around the hot tub. But a minor issue and it is a dark sky area, so need to protect those fab views of the stars.

The upper walls in the cabin were very dusty, the outside light didn't work, it was advertised as have bar-b-que facilities but this it only a small walled off area and unless you took a bar-b-que on legs it was impossible to use a disposable one. It really is not feasible to pack a bar-b-que into your car. Perhaps it would be a good idea to hire them out ? I feel the price was expensive for a four night holiday. I did enjoy the peace and quiet, and because of the size of the site it never felt overcrowded.

we had agood weekend despite weather my companions were thrilled to seee all rabbits and red squrirrel, but can't help thinking you're missing a trick by no having a propper shop or super market in the are it could be done sympathetically

For the price it would have been good if the cleaning staff could have had a wipe round mid-week and the outside furniture was a tad grubby.

The lodges were set into the pine forest, not too many ranging from 1 to 3 bedrooms, some have hot tubs which looked to be fun, I booked last thing so did'nt get the option of one. Ours was an Otterstone lodge which was recently refurbished to a very high standered, as were many of them, I honestly could'nt fault the Lodge, modern, cosy, clean plenty space, perfect for my family.
Veronica, Middlesbrough
Date of stay: 21st July 2014
The chalet with table tennis etc closed and scruffy. Because we went down the road to the water ski club it was good. The children learnt to ski. Otherwise the archery/shooting/zip wire were horrendously expensive for the time allotted. We enjoyed our holiday and would go again but mainly for the water skiing.

This was our third time at Kielder, we really liked the refurbished lodge however had to mark it down a wee bit as the kitchen appliances were a let down, the Dinner plates were too big for the dishwasher! and the washing machine seemed to please itself and the dryer part refused to work, annoying but didnt ruin our trip or anything.
Amanda, Wetherby

Not much of a lakeside view however lovely surroundings

disappointed with the lodge we were told it had been upgraded which was great as we got a hot tub, it was the lodge itself I had stopped in ine at Thirsk so I was very disappointed with this one it was dark and dingy and not very clean the Mirror in the bedroom was filthy but this did not stop us enjoying our holiday
Sharon, Falkirk
Date of stay: 14th July 2014
The lodge was the best that we have ever stayed in and very clean. We got a lovely surprise when we arrived, the girls were very pleased that they had a TV in their room and I was very happy to find a washing machine. Only thing would be in the summer that a fan may be put in the lodge as it can get very warm.

Deb, Malvern
Date of stay: 27th June 2014
Clean and spacious, well fitted kitchen. Only one towel per person (a bath towel, take hand towels), there are good towel rails and in cold weather the heating would be adequate (we didn't need it). the gated outdoor area was great for dogs and children, so yo can have the door open in safety.

Overall the accommodation was excellent, my only problem was that as there is no mobile phone signal you rely on the payphone in the accommodation, this was out of order for the week of my stay.

Lighting in the lodge could be better for reading.
Lighting in the lodge was great if you want a romantic meal
Ten out of ten. Try it you'll love it.
I intend to book again.
Christine
a very warm welcome the staff were brilliant. The shop on site being open 24 hours was a extra bonus as my husband had a severe attack of indigestion late at night and the thought of driving late at nite to find a petrol station in the middle of no where was not fun thanks again staff were great Our lodge was also very nice and well equipped,a lovely time ha by all
Robin
Excellent location. Absolutely a must if you MTB. Book well before you go though if you want to do an evening at the observatory.
Angela
Lovely place, nice and relaxing, fantastic staff
Alison
Visited here with the family for a long weekend break. It’s the first time we’d visited and I was very pleasantly impressed. Our lodge was amazing it had everything you could wish for. On arrival there was a lovely “welcome” sign waiting for us. So impressed have booked again for next year
David
Excellent venue, lodge well-appointed and well-worth the extra to get a hot tub. Plenty of activities for younger children. Pool was great, complimentary towels a real boon. Kielder Waterside has a real 'wow' factor with views, wildlife and superb food at the Boat Inn and Hide. Staff were friendly, knowledgeable and helpful on several occasions. Minor maintenance job we reported was dealt with within the hour. Will happily return.
Karen
Great accommodation and scenery. We'd have used the pub and pool if our dog had been older. She's only 20 months and still rather excitable...
Claire
We absolutely love this site it’s our favourite place in England
AVRIL
Beautiful area to walk in and explore. The lodges are very comfortable and well equipped The staff are outstanding - so friendly and helpful. They chat to you like old friends!
Gill
Beautiful spot on edge of Kielder Water, accomodation was lovely and staff friendly and helpful. Attention was paid to details with the exception, sadly of the spa area. Changing area was cramped, lockers didn't work and used towel pile had taken over the two basins - no staff were on duty - need signs telling people not to leave their clothes in the few changing cubicles. The restaurant and the cafe were great and facilities for children also very good.
H
We had the most wonderful time at Landal. We stayed in the Aurora lodge and could not have been happier with or choice. The little extras such as the welcome box and sweets for the car on check out were lovely touches also. I can’t stop recomending Landal to my friends as I feel everyone should get to experience this lovely place in the world.
Paul
Very good location not all crammed in like cp etc
Janet
The cabin was of high spec and well maintained. The hot tub was wonderful and in excellent condition. We stayed in the spring and found that the conditions at Kielder suited us in that season. Setting was magical and surroundings very beautiful. Spa was very good but floor in changing rooms for pool was muddy and not many cubicles available. That’s was our only gripe! Have already booked for same time in 2019.
Ryan
A great place for families or couples
Lesley-ann
Had a great time , however I wish it had been made clear on arrival that all activities had to be booked well in advance . The bird of prey show was amazing , lodge very comfortable but could do with small kitchen tongs.
Belinda
We had a wonderful stay and the night watchman was fantastic, we arrived at 12.00 midnight and he was able to give us our key, all the information we needed and he was just amazing.

Fun Days Out near Landal Kielder Waterside

about 0 Miles
Housing the most fascinating collection of Birds of Prey in the North East this centre is definitely worth a visit if you are staying in the Kielder Water area. Located in Falstone it's easy to get to and makes a great day out for both families and couples.  As well as seeing the amazing birds you can learn all about the captive breeding programme and the excellent work being done there.  Some of the highlights of the day might include watching a Falcon stoop down from the skies at over 100mph and admiring the grace of the Eagles, Kites and Hawks.

This is a museum and art gallery in one and will suit those looking for an educational and cultural day out.  You can explore the fantastic art collection including Fine Art, Decorative Art and Textiles.  If you love nature then this aspect of Tullie House will appeal. The museum holds large and important collections of zoological, botanical and geological material. And for lovers of history there is plenty to wet your appetite here. Tullie House collects a wide range of historic materials including objects, ephemera (printed material), photographs and associated information files.  We think this museum and art gallery are excellent value for money as well.

Go Ape! has really taken off and become one of the most popular attractions in the UK.  The Northumberland course is set in the stunning grounds of Matfin Hall.  Described as a high wire forest adventure this really is one for the more daring as the course takes place right up in the tree tops.  Giant tree top obstacle courses include ladders, bridges, tunnels and some of the country's best zip lines.  You will be provided with all safety equipment and training on site.

Cragside House and Gardens (National Trust) are a popular Northumberland attraction with a beautiful stately home and gorgeous grounds to explore. The rhododendron labyrinth is a unique and fun addition to the grounds and there is also an adventure playground where children can let of steam. It is the stunning scenery that attracts most of the visitors though with many bringing a picnic for a relaxing family day out. The house itself hosts exhibits which change regularly. World of the Water Wizard is currently on display.
about 36 Miles
Alnwick Castle and Gardens today are perhaps best known for their roles as Hogwarts in Harry Potter movies but have for many years been a family favourite attraction in Northumberland. The beautiful medieval castle is open to the public and during school holidays and at Christmas and Halloween a range of activities can be enjoyed including Santa's Workshop, a Pumpkin Parade, Spell Making Lessons and Owl and Bird of Prey Flying.
about 39 Miles
Kailzie Gardens are another popular attraction and are an excellent place for a day out in the summertime. The gardens are a peaceful and colourful place to spend the day with a wide variety of flora and fauna on display. Other attractions here include live viewing of the Tweed Valley ospreys, a Gift Shop where children can pick up a souvenir, a Tearoom serving tasty local produce and home cooked meals, a Children's Corner, Putting Green, and a gorgeous private 2½ mile stretch on the River Tweed where visitors can enjoy Fly Fishing and a Picnic Area.
