Swandown Lodges

The lodges at Swandown are truly spectacular - unbelievably stylish, individually designed and with amazing views over the glorious Somerset countryside and the historic Cricket St Thomas estate. Swandown Lodges sit between two bustling market towns - Crewkerne and Chard - where you'll find plenty of shopping opportunities.

The facilities include a heated indoor swimming pool, a leisure complex, spa, sauna and steam room. Bike hire is available and there are plenty of nature trails to explore; you could go fishing and try your hand at clay pigeon shooting too. The children will be kept amused with the outdoor adventure playground, a selection of board games and a Wii - and there is a great family pub within walking distance.

Poldon Lodge is brand new for 2012, a luxurious and contemporary two storey lodge that sleeps six people. It's actually designed upside down - the bedrooms and bathroom are downstairs and the living area is on the first floor! Large patio doors lead out on to your own private balcony with an outdoor hot tub and spectacular views. On chilly evenings, you could light the log burner and enjoy a Blu-ray film on the flat screen TV.

Swandown Lodges sit right on the Somerset/Dorset border, not far from both Lyme Regis and Yeovil. The Jurassic Coast is a World Heritage Site and there are some amazing beaches to discover - Brean Beach at Burnham-on-Sea, part of a seven mile stretch of sands, is in the Good Beach Guide and ideal for walking and sports. There are plenty of towns and villages to explore such as Honiton, a busy market town and Beer, a picturesque little smugglers' village.

Everything as described and surpassed expectations. Accommodation was probably the best I've stayed in of the lodge style having stayed in many similar places over the years with my young family.

Excellent lodge on a quiet beautiful development. Nice walks close by. We made use of the hotel leisure club, some of their facilities (hotel)were out of action and could do with updating but this did not detract from our experience at the lodge.

The lodge was well equiped and has a very spacious open plan kitchen / living room with a vaulted ceiling that makes the whole area very airy and welcoming.
The only thing we would change would be the sofa, which looks good but sags heavily in the middle.
The lodge was beautifully clean when we arrived.
We loved the hot tub.

A superb villa with everything we could have asked for. We had a great stay here. The only disappointment was some dirty bed linen which was found in the drawer of the unit in the smaller bedroom. The hot tub was fantastic and the bikes came in useful. Would happily recommend this villa
David, South Oxfordshire
Date of stay: 22nd April 2016
Kittwhistle Lodges are bright and airy. Super views. The kitchen is very well equipped and we loved the log burner in the lounge area. The one thing we'd change is the sofa, which is quite low and very soft / saggy. The hot tub was fabulous. We loved Kittwhistle so much that we booked to go back in September.
Peter, Nottingham
Date of stay: 8th April 2016
Brilliant.

We went for an Easter break, 2 adults, 1 child and our dog, and had a great time.

Andy, who manages the lodges, was very friendly and helpful and we would heartily recommend this place to anyone who asked.

The accommodation is very modern and tastefully decorated with all the mod cons. There is a great little pool which is ideal for messing about with the kids and an adventure trim trail a short walk away. The Windwhistle pub is nearby, which serves good food and beer as does the Prince of Wales at Ham Hill (which is great for dog walking).

It's not that far from the coast and Wookey Hole is pretty close too for a good family day out (without the dog though).

We will 100% be staying here again.

Mandy, Waterlooville
Date of stay: 25th March 2016
Lovely lodge. Our criteria was log burner and hot tub somewhere nice. The Lodge was so warn the log burner was only used for effect one night. The site was small and in a good location for those days we wanted to venture out but our break was all about relaxing and recharging our batteries and this lodge was perfect for this.
Malcolm, Hedge End

A beautiful lodge, we stayed in no 12 which had uninterrupted views across the fields. It felt private and not overlooked although we did get a few waves from passers by when we were in the hot tub one day! Spacious, clean and well equipped, thoroughly recommend.
Jenny, London
Date of stay: 15th February 2016
As well as being excellent, ours had a hot tub (wonderful experience sitting in the bubbling warmth in rain and snow flakes), and ours had stunning uninterrupted views to the sea.
Highly recommended

Overall the Lodge was very good and we had a great break and would love to go back. However, there were a couple of things that need looking at we found the cooker didn't cook to temperature and the sink in the double ensuite the water didn't drain very well.

Date of stay: 13th November 2015
Could have done with more than 1 toilet roll in each toilet doesn't really last 1 week.
Other than that loved it wonderful surprise to arrive to fresh bread, jam, butter, biscuits, milk, tea and coffee so nice to sit down after a long journey and not rush out straight to a shop to get milk and tea. Andy was wonderfully welcoming and informative. Cannot wait to book our next trip.

The only thing which was a slight problem with the lodge was that you have to go through the bedroom to get to the hot tub.

Date of stay: 19th October 2015
I loved this holiday, we were called in advance to let us know the lodge was ready early if we were local & wanted to check in. Andy was lovely & gave us loads of information. We had our two dogs with us & again were given lots of information about places to take them. There was a very informative video that plays on a loop letting you know how everything works, where to get extra wood for the burner & about the free use of bikes etc... Definitely worth watching. The site itself is very well kept & clean. We can't wait to book a return trip & I would highly recommend this as a place to go. It is a little pricey in comparison to alternate lodges but you really do get what you pay for & this is a little touch of luxury that is well worth the extra spend. Thank you so much Swandown Lodges & especially Andy, we had such a lovely time.

Date of stay: 9th October 2015
The apartment was a bit cold and tried to put up heating but it didn't seam to come on. The layout of TV on the wall over the dinning table didn't work for us . TV would be better placed in the lounge area as this didn't feel comfortable for us. Could do with a dressing table in the bedroom for the Ladies.
Hull, Bristol

On entering this lodge we both said WOW, it is fantastic. Beautiful panoramic views, spotlessly clean, every modern convenience you could possibly need. A lovely bathroom, shower room ( ensuite ) and cloakroom. Plenty of soft towels, toiletries, 2 bathrobes and fresh soft linen on comfortable mattresses. Lots of storage space with plenty of coat hangers. Soft toilet paper!!!!
Comfortable furniture inside and out, lovely balcony and BBQ. TV and audio equipment, nice lighting for reading. (Wood burner for winter) A lovely little welcome pack; butter, bread, milk etc to get us started, delicious. ABSOLUTELY PERFECT ,THANKYOU.

Absolutely stunning. There is no where else to this standard. We stayed in a goldenhaye lodge which i just wanted to take home with me. Everything so clean, the swimming pool we always had to ourselves, loads of bikes to choose from to take amongst the extensive grounds, a brilliant little play area in the wooded area and fantastic staff. What more can you ask for on holiday.

Lovely lodge, well equipped kitchen. Would think about the main bedroom being the bigger room & also a clean after a week would have been nice and more towels.
Vicki, Newbury
Date of stay: 13th July 2015
Comfy lodge with good sized bedrooms and a great view from the balcony. Soundproofing could have been a bit better - with the "upside down" room arrangement, once somebody was up and about in the kitchen / dining area little chance of sleeping below as every little sound easily heard.
Carol, Cranleigh, Surrey
Date of stay: 10th July 2015
Our second stay at Swandown Lodges and, as before, we had a very comfortable and happy time. The Lodges are beautifully kept as are their surroundings. Staff are all friendly and helpful and they keep the hot tubs in spotless condition. It is a bonus to be able to use the Warner Hotel facilities and there is plenty to do locally and within a short car drive. We will definitely be back.

Stunning lodge with everything you could possibly want. We couldn't believe the value for money. We loved it so much we booked an extra night's stay at the end of our break. We can't recommend it enough! Fantastic! It was lovely to be opposite the indoor swimming pool so we could take our little ones over for a swim every day. Cycling round the estate was bliss. The Managers could not have been more helpful or friendly. It really is a gem of a place! LOVED the hot tub, LOVED the views... loved it all!!

Kittwhistle lodge was a lovely accommodation and it was nice to see that the owners have not economised on the fixtures and fittings. The kitchen was well stocked with all the pots, pans and utensils we might need. It was nice to have a decent TV and stereo, and the wood burner is a nice touch, although we didn't use this, as the weather was pretty mild during our stay. The hot tub is well placed to offer privacy, while still providing stunning unrestricted views of the countryside. The only minor niggle was that the Wifi connection was painfully slow; however, we were warned of this (the local network can't handle faster connections) and at the end of the day, why would you want to spend your stay surfing the web when you have such stunning views?!
Charlene, Hucknall, Nottingham

Beautiful lodge, the hot tub made it. Great pub over the road, pool on site fine for a splash around. Spa facilities a mile away a little run down but we only went for treatments which were great. Lots of great days out nearby, we loved our stay. Staff were extremely helpful and accommodating, they went the extra mile.

Helen, Harrogate
Date of stay: 10th April 2015
The lodge was top notch, the kitchen I would have been quite happy with in my home and the bathrooms were modern with high quality fittings. My only suggestion would be a sheer blind in the bedrooms as we overlooked the entrance so tended to keep the curtains drawn for privacy. Also I thought the hot tub was a little too hot compared to others I've been in - so maybe save some electricity and reduce the temp by a couple of degrees.
Judith, Eastbourne

Accommodation was fantastic! All of us that stayed there loved it! And would be happy to live there xx The only thing we would say with out particular lodge is that one bedroom had the doors to the hot tub which was lovely but would have been better with a TV as well! The other double had a TV and an ensuite which was lovely but sometimes when you in bed you like the TV but it wouldn't stop us coming back!!

Wonderful lodges, 2nd stay both lodges we've stayed in of equal quality, just one complaint no where to put ashes and no brushes or poker for the log burner. I'm sure we had one in the lodge last year and free logs would go down a treat :-). Found a lovely pub with log burner it's called the five dials inn about 8 mile drive but well worth it.

Date of stay: 29th August 2014
The lodge had everything you could need for a short break and a lot more. Hot tub overlooking natural scenery was lovely. Cot was provided free of charge too. Loads of space and vaulted ceiling made the open Plan kitchen lounge seem a lot bigger than it was...and it was quite large...much more space than other lodges we've stayed in.

Superb and I am fussy at the best of times, this place is almost a home from home. Sorting the rubbish was messy and there wasn't a composting bin which made recycling a bit complicated.

Date of stay: 25th July 2014
The accommodation was first class, clean and fully equipped. There was a lovely welcome pack of milk, biscuits, butter, bread etc which is always gratefully received after a long journey especially as we arrived very late. It was lovely to have both pool and lodge towels provided as well as luxury toiletries. The hot tub was well maintained and very private with stunning views. The only recommendation we have is that an umbrella for the patio would be nice as we had glorious weather and it would have been good when we were eating to provide some shade.

Beautiful lodge with amazing floor to ceiling windows giving you a great view. All the beds were very comfortable with lovely on suite bathrooms. The showers were very powerful and hot. The kitchen was very well stocked although we would have liked a bread knife!
Great outdoor patio space with bbq and of course the hot tub which was a real plus.

We had an absolutely fantastic holiday in Poldon Lodge. The accommodation was first rate. The lodge was immaculate with everything we could need to enjoy our break. I was especially impressed that the cupboards weren't bare! Instead many little essentials (e.g. washing up liquid, milk, salt and pepper) were available. I would definitely like to return.

Date of stay: 30th May 2014
It was a really nice holiday. The only downside was privacy. Next door to us had a big party staying on a few night (maybe 9 folk and a dog). with the open plan gardens our privacy was encroached upon several times. Overall it gets a high score, I think we would stay again but not in that property for this reason. We would look for a garden/hot tub that is more private.
Julie, Uckfield
Date of stay: 30th May 2014
Excellent accommodation. A little to warm at night, could have done with lighter duvet and we turned off the heating ( was end of May ) those in bedroom with only French doors didn't like to open them at night being on ground floor. Had couple of issues with no hot water but it was very quickly rectified. Team very helpful. Access to pool very good. Big enough for size of complex, would have been nice to have had small paddling pool for toddlers as pool depth 1.2mts. Lovely grounds very safe for children, we had 6 in our party. Gardens of the main hotel well worth a visit, lovely, a Mile away through the grounds ( uphill most of way back, so not so easy for children to cycle ) free bike hire with good bikes for teenagers and adults.
Walked to pub one evening, 5mins away, excellent food and huge garden with fantastic views.
Have already recommended the lodges to friends.

As I said previously, the lodge was excellent. The staff were so friendly and helpful. The new swimming pool on site couldn't have been better, we all used it every day. We particularly loved the fact you can walk all through the huge estate on paths and the lambs made it very special for our granddaughter.

Amazing standard of accomodation (modern, clean and equipment).

Although a little disappointed that it was semi-detached, we never heard our nighbour inside the accomodation but were a little annoyed when they partied in the hot tub on the first 2 nights! They left after that so it was brilliant from then.

Lovely lodge, a second shower over bath would have been very useful. Also, thin duvet or blanket as an extra, duvets too hot and did not sleep well on first night. Otherwise, very clean and felt like home.We would love to return.

Everything you require in your lodge right down to the corkscrew! Very high standard of comfort and cleanliness. Would definitely recommend for a peaceful country break or a good base to explore lovely areas in Somerset and/or Dorset.

Excellent house fully equipped and also the benefit of under floor heating that was much appreciated in December. Views were incredible and we had a lovely meal at the pub over the road.
Alison
Fantastic lodge in a great location. No need to get in the car to go for a long walk as it’s all on your doorstep. We will be back!
Tristan
Excellent lodge, we're returning soon.
Sian
Brilliant spot - accommodation fabulous - would have been good to access the hotel facilities but children not allowed. Pool was great and local pub was lovely. Great that bikes were available just couldn't use them because of the weather
Raymond
A great family escape, beautiful lodges and location, great facilities
Chris
Had a lovely time with our two young children. Having stair-gates, high chairs & cots provided was a major plus-point but just the whole feel of the place was pure relaxation. The little pool on site was ideal for our little ones & given the location of the actual lodges leaves you in great distance to the likes of Lyme Regis, Charmouth & even Sidmouth & Branscombe - this is essentially why we chose the location & we were more than happy with the accommodation. We would definitely come back so we'd highly recommend.
Lisa
A fantastic lodge and a fantastic hot tub in beautiful surroundings.
Louise
Our holiday was pure luxury, great walks and was able to use the facilities at the hotel, which was great.
Kevin

Callie
Beautiful lodge was well equipped and clean, not much to do unless you drive out so the swimming pool was much needed but liked that you could use their bikes for free and my children loved it,happy children, happy parents.Would love to come back again the weather was the only down side.
Jeremy
Loved our short break. Excellent facilities. Gorgeous surroundings. The hot tub made it very special. Slight problem with the heating which is why I didn’t give it a 10/10. Would definitely come again.
James
Everything as described and surpassed expectations. Accommodation was probably the best I've stayed in of the lodge style having stayed in many similar places over the years with my young family. Very clean, modern and well thought out living arrangements and stunning views with the added thought by the owners to provide bikes, helmets and bike trailers for small kids to explore the beautiful surroundings
Mark
Beautiful place to stay wood definitely recommend
