About Henfields Country Retreat

Henfields Country Retreat in Somerset combines a collection of simply stunning lodges with panoramic countryside views including views of the Mendips. The lodges have a contemporary yet rustic feel with warm welcoming tones and interior furnishings that blend seamlessly.

One of the great things about the lodges are that they are in within walking distance of the local village. This is perfect for getting out and exploring or picking up any essentials you might need.

The hot tubs make your stay at Henfields Country Retreat even more special and are the ideal way to round off the perfect day.

We love Fox Run Lodge which is a gorgeous lodge with outside patio area, hot tub and garden furniture. There is private parking at the lodge and the inside is all open plan in design. Fox Run Lodge has 2 bedrooms and sleeps up to 4 guests. It's also a pet friendly so no one has to get left behind!

Boxing Hares Lodge is another stunning option with private hot tub and glorious views. This lodge also sleeps up to 4 guests but no pets are permitted in this lodge. The interior furnishings are beautiful and the whole lodge has a stylish yet homely feel. Boxing Hares Lodge has received amazing customer reviews with top ratings.

If you're looking for a romantic getaway then the Rabbits Warren Lodge is lovely. This is a luxury lodge with open countryside views and a bubbling hot tub to enjoy. "A lovely modern lodge which was well equipped for cooking. One more medium frying pan would have been perfect! Very clean and tidy, hottub maintained twice a day. The staff were friendly and helpful, answered any questions we had. There did not seem to be too much around for walking or bike rides but if your happy to relax then I would highly recommend.
The only reason for being a 9 overall is the water pressure throughout the lodge, when one tap was turned on it affected another. Not a huge issue when you are staying for a few nights but a minor point to feed back.

"On arrival Wayne was extremely helpful and informative. The lodge was spotless and even smelt clean. It was equipped with pretty much everything you could need and was presented immaculately. If I was being hyper critical I would say that the sofa's could be more comfortable and that one more side table to rest your drink on would be a good idea. Again being hyper critical, the loungers could be more comfortable, maybe some pads would solve the issue. All in all, I would not hesitate to recommend Henfields. We'll be back, that's for sure."

"We had a fabulous time at Henfields Country Retreat. We stayed in the Rabbit Warren which had everything we needed and was very clean. The Lodge had it's only little secluded garden, which was lovely for relaxing. The lodge was a ten minute walk to the local village where you could go to the local pub for a drink or a meal. Also, we tried the local Indian Restaurant which provided good food. We will definitely book again as there was lots to do in the area and we could not fit it all in, therefore still plenty to do on our next visit. The owners where very helpful and made sure we were happy."

"A very neat and tidy lodge and we could not fault it. It was one of the better lodges we have stayed in with plenty of room. The outside decking was roomy with a hot tub and they had also made a space where you could place a disposable bbq if you wanted one. We were greeted by the owners who showed us the lodge and explained where everything was. There was also a lovely welcoming pack that was a nice touch."

Longleat Safari and Adventure Park - BA12 7NW

You may have seen this amazing attraction on the BBC1 Animal Park programme. This is actually the first safari park outside of Africa where you can get close to the animals from the comfort of your own car. Some of the highlights include the zebras, the wallabies in wallaby wood and the sea lion escorted cruise to Gorilla Island. And of course the magnificent lions and tigers are a must see. This really is an animal experience with a difference and you can save money by booking your tickets online. This attraction is open until the end of October. Exmoor Zoo is described as a "family zoo" on their website and it certainly makes a great day out for families. There are many exotic and rare animals as well as birds to see which are living in natural surroundings. Some recent improvements at the zoo include a new 5 metre tower at the cheetahs and raised walkways at the "beast". There is also a new viewing platform over the sitatunga. As well as the amazing animals to experience there are regular fun activities such as face painting, daily events and zoo trails.
