We spent our first wedding anniversary in Carreg Y Nant at Bryn Caled Cottages and had a wonderful break. The cottage was very clean and had everything we needed and more. The location is great and despite the very changeable March weather, we were able to utilise the spacious private hot tub every day. We were greeted by Sioned and a very tasty lemon drizzle cake and were made to feel very welcome. The owners' dogs and chickens were roaming the grounds which was lovely too. We had a fantastic stay and will most definitely be visiting again!

We had a very lovely stay at this cottage, so close to giving this a score of 10 but unfortunately a couple of little issues prevented this but if these are sorted we would definitely return:
The positives first:
love the design and style of the cottage, very spacious and everything you could possibly need was there especially in the kitchen.
The cottage was immaculately clean and well maintained overall despite a couple of things.
The owner was very friendly and even baked us a small lemon cake on arrival and introduced herself and offered advice on places to visit nearby.
The beds were very comfortable and plenty of wardrobe and drawer space.
The ensuite bathroom was spacious and bath/shower was very comfortable and easy to use ( which is rare)
Alot of leaflets and good amount of advice given in the cottage booklet of places to visit and local food and drink in the area as well as discount offers.
Loved the upstairs balcony with amazing views of the welsh mountain countryside.
The owners had a couple of friendly dogs who came over to visit who were well behaved as well as some free roaming chickens and two horses in the field opposite.
The location of the cottage was brilliant in a rural area however a small drive away from the local village of bala.

Things need improvement:
It was great to have a hot tub at the cottage (we rarely book a cottage without one) however this hot tub wasn't up to our usual standards. This hot tub didn't seem well maintained unfortunately - when in use, it was only set to economy mode (which couldn't be changed) where the jets were on slow power mode and a strange loud noise was present everytime the jets were turned off, also the water feature from the hot tub handle didn't work until we fixed it.
The TV in downstairs double bedroom signal was very bad and barely watchable and the upstairs TV turned on by itself at 6am twice during our stay and wouldn't turn off unless unplugged.
A few of the spot lights on the ceiling weren't working and one of the sofas upstairs was abit worn.

However these are all minor issues and with a few upgrades the cottage is definitely worth returning to and overall one of the best cottages we have stayed in. I would give this a 9/10.

Date of stay: 18th August 2017
We stayed here for 4 nights in August 2017.

The cottage itself was lovely, living area upstairs, with a toilet and bedrooms downstairs with the main bathroom.

Everything was clean and the cottage had everything you could need, large fridge freezer, dishwasher, large dining table, plenty of cutlery, washing machine and it was great to have a washing line outside and an airer in the cupboard.
They had a little collection of games and dvds and all the information you could need.
If you do have younger children there was a stair gate at the top of the stairs.

The beds were very comfy, plenty of wardrobe and drawer space. The double bedroom had patio doors which was lovely. There are TVs in both bedrooms.
My only tiny niggle was that the bathroom had attached doors from either bedroom and unfortunately the doors were quite noisy to open, close and lock.

Location was everything, views of the Aran Mountain from the patio doors upstairs and beautiful scenery all around! There was a TV with Sky etc but who needs a TV with a view like that in front of you?
My daughter enjoyed the tiny park and the views from the swing were unlike any other!
We booked this as we love things quiet and relaxed and that is what we got.

The hot tub was lovely, plenty of room for our family of 4. It was a shame the weather wasn't perfect but it would be brilliant if there was a shelter over the hot tub so it could be enjoyed even in poor weather. The garden was enclosed and also had a BBQ.

We met the owners briefly and they were very helpful and friendly.

We did have the occasional animal visit in the garden, the friendly dogs and the odd chicken! My 10 year old daughter thought this was brilliant!

There is plenty of parking.

We managed to cram quite a lot in our 4 days.
Bala Lake is less than 10 minutes down the road, beautiful place and you also receive a discount for Lake activities if you mention you are from the cottages. We had a go at canoeing which was fun.
Bala Town is a beautiful little place, plenty of shops, pubs etc.

We did the climb up the Aran Mountain which is a lovely walk, very peaceful and beautiful!

One evening we decided to go for a drive and followed the instructions in the welcome book, driving through Snowdonia National park! Our little outing turned into almost 6 hours of being amazed by the beautiful scenery! We stopped and admired and almost every turn! It was any photographers dream outing!

We took a trip to Fairbourne which was only about 30 minutes away, visited the beach and also took a little adventure to the Blue Lake which was an unused Quarry! Great adventure getting to it and very worth it once we had arrived! I have never seen anything quite like it! Turquoise water, looks beautiful in the sunshine.

On checkout day we had planned to go to Snowdon. We had never visited before. It was a lovely drive through the beautiful landscape.
We didn't walk this time as we had booked the Mountain Railway for a treat. This was a good experience, but a bit pricey if you have a large family.

I have a love for Wales and it grows stronger each time I visit! This cottage has added to my love!

If only I could move in for good!

I ticked 'yes' I would stay again at Y Beudy on the proviso that the hot tub is either replaced or repaired. This was the only thing that was under par for us, we couldn't get the lid off completely as there is no pull bar and it is wedged into the rails of the patio deck. As there were only two of us (ladies) we could only lift the cover off halfway, some of the jets didn't work and it was quite dirty and as soon as we got in we came out as we felt 'grubby' and our skin was slimey. As we were only there 2 days and only went in on the second day we didn't bother too much as we had other plans, but if we stayed for longer or with more guests then the tub really isn't big enough for the number of people who can stay at the cottage . The rest of the cottage, amenities were absolutely wonderful ! Beautiful cottage, spotlessly clean and all the equipment you could possibly need for a lovely stay ! Very well thought out.
The countryside and views were breathtaking and the sky at night with the stars was magical ! The lemon cake on arrival was yummy and we loved that we were offered fresh farm eggs to buy ( at a fab price) to take home with us ! We met the owner on arrival, who welcomed us and she was very friendly and welcoming. Wifi should really be free though - expensive at £10 for a 2 day stay - lucky for us we didn't want it as we wanted a break from the modern world ! The Y Eagles pub in the village was warm and welcoming too.

Cottage owners very friendly and helpful.
Date of stay: 19th July 2015
We arrived and the cottage was ready. On entering we were amazed by the open space and great views. The owners were very welcoming and helped us out on the local area. The cottage has everything and more that you should need for a holiday. The hot tub was amazing to sit out with the sun setting and watching the world go by was just amazing, we even got to see the aeroplanes fly by from a local airbase. The only downer was the upstairs shower leaked so had to lay towels on the floor. I would recommend this cottage to anyone and would defiantly stay again.

Perfectly sized, homely, cosy, modern; absolutely everything you want from a holiday cottage!
Equipped with anything and everything you require including a delicious home made lemon cake made fresh by Sioned.

The cottage was gorgeous. It was warm, cosy and decorated to a high standard.
All I can say is “amazing” The lodge was fabulous, location breathtaking and the owner so lovely. She even baked us a cake. Thank you so much. Highly recommended.
Perfect everything that you need. Booked again for next year and saved over £300 by booking early.
Me and my fiancé loved it
Cottage was super-cosy, clean and comfortable, perfect for a relaxing break. Owners were very welcoming. Small downside was the lack of cupboard & worktop space in the kitchen, and lack of shelter over the outdoor hot tub, which limits its use. But overall a lovely break.
Had a great stay and the lodge was very spacious and had everything we needed. The only slight issue was that by the third day the hot tub had lost its heat and was really cold. But apart from that everything was great.
We visited Bryn Caled over the Xmas period, the cottage was decorated simply but beautifully. Hot tub was great but some jets didn't work. The location and scenery were amazing and the cottage layout was ideal for our requirements and was beautifully decorated and layed out. A couple of simple things would of made our stay more comfortable and helpful! A decent set of sharp knives in the kitchen, and the door from the bedrooms to kitchen scraped on the floor making an awful sound that echoed through the cottage. The introduction folder we found on the second day, it would of been helpful if this was left out on the side or if we had been greeted by host on arrival. Our overall stay was relaxing and enjoyable and we would definitely book this cottage for a family holiday again.
Very nice secluded area. Peaceful and relaxing
We really enjoyed our stay! The whole package was amazing for family and friends! Thankyou!
Amazing holiday. Amazing place. Amazing people.
Fabulous views, The cottage was lovely & clean. Owners were really helpful. Had a great short break there.
Wonderful relaxing week in a beautiful location. This was our second visit and definitely won't be our last!
