Balwen Shepherds Hut Reviews

Katie - Jan 2025
Cannot recommend enough we had an amazing trip, gorgeous hut and just as described! Short distance to lots a lovely places so were spoilt for choice of where to visit. The hut was clean and so quiet as youre far from houses and roads. The hosts were so lovely and welcoming, and made sure we had everything we needed. Stock up on logs!

Ekaterina - Dec 2024
Gorgeous hut in a very relaxing location! I highly recommend this hut as a romantic getaway as well as a holiday on your own to escape the lifes hassle. The hut is very secluded surrounded by the field of farm sheep which was quite therapeutic to see them behind the fence while being in a hot tub or doing a morning yoga. The indoor wood burning stove made it extra comfortable in the winter to keep the hut nice and warm. The owners were very caring and were always checking on me if I needed anything to make my stay as comfortable as possible.Highly recommended during any time of the year and will certainly be back again.Thank you!
Zoe - Sep 2024

Rob - May 2024
The hut was really lovely. It was so clean, tidy and comfortable. Hosts were really friendly and accommodating and made sure we had everything we needed. The grounds that the accommodation is on are gorgeous, sheep right on your doorstep! The general area is lovely, with nice villages, walks and gardens to visit. We had a really enjoyable time!

Sofia - Apr 2024
We had a lovely stay at Balwen hut for our anniversary weekend. It was very well equipped, including lots of kitchenware, as well as complimentary tea and coffee and it even had a hairdryer! The hut was warm despite the chilly weather outside, the shower was great, and the bed was very comfortable. Debbie was very thoughtful, and when we told her struggled heating the hot tub she came and helped us out, and we were able to enjoy some stargazing! The surrounding area is perfect for hiking or exploring historical places and there are plenty of restaurants as well. Would highly recommend!
Chris - Mar 2024
A lovely Shepherds Hut located in a lovely setting close to the River and the Severn Way Canal, with Red Kites, Buzzards and Pheasants to name but a few birds continuously in the area. The facilities were great, the Hot Tub did get warm on the only opportunity we had to use it, but not too hot, probably down to user error on our part...Debbie is a wonderful host who messaged every now and again to make sure things were all OK.The bed was very comfortable and it was lovely to wake up with Natures Alarm, the birds singing and a slight breeze coming through the window at the end of the bed. The shower was great, powerful and hot, the towels were of great quality too. Although the weather wasn't the best for our stay, it was still a great place to stay and one that we will surely return to in the future and if you are into Astrophotography, the clear skies are amazing.
Vanessa - Sep 2023
High standard throughout Shepherds Hut with top quality furnishings, equipment and accessories. Very informative booklet about the hut, local area and places to visit.Very private. Only thing I felt needed was a couple of chairs camping type that you could relax in by the fire pit. Hosts excellent. They both introduced themselves but left us alone alrhough we knew they were available at any time if we needed them or wanted to ask anything. We would definitely go back and recommend it as a place to stay.
Gemma - Sep 2023
This property is a hidden gem. Is fully equipped with everything you could think off for your stay. We wanted peace and quiet and thats what we got and more. Perfect with the hot tub, then using the bbq and sitting by the fire of an evening. Was spotless and great communication with the owner. Would highly recommend.
David - Aug 2023
Owners are lovely people, nothing at all was too much trouble. Communication was excellent, also advised us of some nice places to eat & what was in the area. The hut was clean & tidy. A lot of thought has gone into the hut, inside & outside! Ground around the hut is so private you would know anyone was around. Thanks again for a nice stay, well be returning soon
Christopher - Jul 2023
Very homely hut packed with all you could need for the stay. Enjoyed the peace and quiet sitting in the hot tub, while lighting the fire pit for a tranquil evening plenty of wood for the BBQ too. The host is lovely and even helped us with a couple extra things while we were there to accommodate for the unfortunate weather. I would recommend bringing a citronella candle for the flies though, can't be helped due to the location. Very enjoyable little holiday nonetheless and would definitely recommend.
Amanda - Jun 2023
The Balwen hut is lovely , nice and clean in a nice quiet location. Really enjoyed our stay. The only thing we had a problem with was flies going inside the hut buzzing around us at night this cannot be helped due to the time of year and been in countryside. The area is lovely , the owner was lovely and helpful. definitely recommend
Amanda - May 2023
Amazing property ! ! This property is in a secluded plot in a large field, there is everything you need at this location i.e BBQ, Fire pit, wood fired hot tub and a table and chairs with a parasol. The Shepherds Hut is absolutely beautifully done out and has everything you need for your stay. There is a pub a 5 minute walk away which also does lovely food.We met the owner who was very nice and only lived a few yards away in the B&B and was on hand to help if needed. The only negative was the wifi it was a bit hit and miss but it was'nt a problem for us because we wanted peace and quiet anyway. Also, the access to the hut could be an issue for people with mobility problems due to the access through the field to get to the hut.
