Coopers Beach Reviews

"Needed this break , full time carer for 2 members of my family, disabled husband at home rare to go out for a meal, accessible."
Joyce - Nov 2023
"Excellent lodge but cery quite location"
Verified Guest - Nov 2023
"Poor lighting in the restaurant and all you could smell was alcohol everywhere. Its a family resort yet not very child friendly. Alot of dranken adults using very bad language and continually swearing infront of children. It was the only restaurant in the park and overly priced. It was more of a pub atmosphere then a family restaurant."
Verified Guest - Nov 2023
"Not a good park. Starting they send an email saying the check is after 5pm but reception closes at 5pm. So you have to call and wait for security to give you your package (took 45min for check in as keys were not in the package and he had to phone a few people).Caravan had cereal in the pull out bed and not enough bedding for it (even though our party was of 8 people so they knew we needed pull out bed.No warning on the amount of mosquitos. Kids were all bitten and with bad swelling from bits. When we spoke to reception they told us to buy plug in repellents. Not good as they even admitted previous holidaymakers had same problem and they were given repellent but now there was no more. The pool in the park is tiny, booking was limited to 4 people on 1 day ( whilst our party was 8 so only children could go). Restaurant is expensive though food is ok. Entertainment is not amazing and bingo is at 10pm (which is much later than any other park we been to). We ended up leaving before our date as it was not a good stay at all. Would not recommend or come back."
Verified Guest - Oct 2023
"We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Coopers Beach as facilities are great, and cant fault the staff who are very polite and helpful. "
Carey - Nov 2019
"Accommodation was wonderful but could do with an iron and a stand inside shower to rest the shower gel on"
Camille - Aug 2019
"The lodge was clean and spacious. The description said there was a TV in every room, there was actually only a TV in the living room (which had a built in DVD player). We did however have a hot tub which was not mentioned in the description a swap we were more than happy with. Large fridge freezer was handy ."
Sarra - Aug 2019
"The caravan was exactly what we needed, the park was spotless and very well kept."

Rachid - Aug 2016
"A lovely relaxing place to visit and caravan was spotless, my only gripe would be that in these current times ie covid 19, I would expect to see the whole bed covers including duvets and pillows changed and not just the bedding itself ."
Paul - Jan 1970
"We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Coopers Beach as facilities are great, and cant fault the staff who are very polite and helpful. "
Carey - Jan 1970
"Very picky point, but there was no remote in one of the spare rooms, so we asked for one, which was provided the day before we left (with no batterys)"
Sinead - Jan 1970
"Lovely lodge, a few problems I felt should have been checked before we arrived ,mattress on bed had springs showing through so couldn't sleep on it, it was replaced the second night, no hot water for day and half, kettle didn't reach boiling point unless you held the button down, this was replaced.heating came full on twice we had to open all Windows and doors until someone came in the evening to turn it off ,needed new thermostat apparently.but the staff were very good and put things right as soon as they could.
But it meant The four days we were there we had people in and out all the time .The one meal at the restaurant was a burger But it was pink and raw in the middle, we were refunded for it.But put us off a bit. Also the day before the start of my holiday I was the I would be met at entrance with welcome pack and directions to lodge, this didn't happen we had to go in reception to find out what number lodge we were in and given map but no welcome pack."
Shirley - Jan 1970

Colchester Zoo - CO3 0SL

Colchester Zoo is a fantastic place to visit with something for all the family.  Wander around and see the array of animals in excellent habitats.  Don't forget to visit the Leopards at Ussuri Falls, this new expansion can be located opposte the White Tiger Valley and the Medellin Momkeys.  Other popular areas of the zoo include Tiger Taiga, Chimp World and Wallaby Walkabout.   Look out for special events throughout the year such as Shriek Week on Halloween.  If you book tickets online you can obtain a discount of 10% and are also fast tracked on entry to the zoo - a great idea in the school holidays.
Adventure Island - SS1 2AU

The Big Adventure rides include the Dragon's Claw, Rage and Vortex.  For younger children there is just as much fun on offer with rides like the Cow Jump, Over the Hill and Dragon. Mini Rides include the Choo Choo Train, Crooked House and Flying Jumbos.  When you have ran out of energy you could have a wander round the gift shop and perhaps buy a souvenir of your day.
Great Notley Park - CM77 7FS
about 20 Miles
This attraction is currently under construction but we are looking forward to it opening in early 2011.  The philosophy of the Discovery Centre is 'healthy body, healthy mind, healthy planet and aims to change people's attitudes and actions towards our planet.  Educational as well as fun there are plenty of activities such as outdoor sport pitches, cycle and walking trails and indoor activity rooms.  This is a unique attraction for the whole family.
Suffolk Owl Sanctuary - IP28 6HX
about 28 Miles
This amazing owl sanctuary located in the Stowmarket area of Suffolk should be high on your list of places to visit in the area.  The attraction is also a registered charity and carries out important work in the care & rehabilitation of owls from the region.  The sanctuary also raises awareness of owl conservation throughout the UK.  Between April and the end of September there are two superb flying displays each day so you should try and make your visit coincide with one of these displays if you can.
Wildwood Trust - CT4 5EL
about 31 Miles
Wildwood Trust is well worth a visit if you are staying in the local area.  You can experience close encounters with native wildlife - all in a beautiful forest setting.  You will find this attraction between the coastal town of Herne Bay and the ancient city of Canterbury.  There is a wide variety of animals to see including badgers, foxes and otters. Kids will also love the animal encounters sessions, playground and games and quizzes.  Check out their website for the latest admission prices which are excellent value for a family day out in Kent.

National Horse Racing Museum - CB8 8JL

This is a museum with a difference and a must see if you are into horse racing.  You can take guided tours around the museum or choose to wander round yourself admiring the exhibits.  New for 2010 is a Junior Fun Tour which is ideal for children.  Simply ask the gallery staff for a Fun Tour pack when you enter the museum and kids can answer questions and spot clues and tips on the way round.  One of the most popular recent exhibitions is the Thoroughbred: State of the Art exhibition in Gallery 5 on until 31st October.  Check out their websites for the latest exhibitions.
