Goosedale Lodges Reviews

"A roomy open plan lodge with spacious bedrooms."
Verified Guest - Mar 2024
"Amazing lodge layout and location is fantastic, staff helpful, lodges themselves are showing signs of heavy usage, shower temp dials fall off, damage and marks on most walls, bi-fold doors broken, sitting room chair broken and needs the legs tightening so unusable, hot tub arm broken, which means lifting the heavy cover on and off, so if you have limited movement you would struggle to use(this is being replaced, they are waiting parts). All in all nothing to put you off going, but could be a 5 star and justify the money more with a little TLC."
Verified Guest - Feb 2024
"Absolutely fantastic"
Paul - May 2023
"Lovely new lodge. Very spacious and comfortable. Unfortunately the dishwasher wasnt working. Staff were apologetic and gave us a bottle of wine and some washing up liquid. Otherwise great"
Sharon - Jul 2020
"Lovely new lodge. Very spacious and comfortable. Unfortunately the dishwasher wasnt working. Staff were apologetic and gave us a bottle of wine and some washing up liquid. Otherwise great"
Sharon - Jan 1970
"The lodge was spacious, with a large living area, breakfast bar and dining table. To the rear a large decking area with four person hot tub and a further garden area with seats enough for six.

The master bedroom with king bed and en suite was huge, two bedrooms with king beds, a fourth bedroom with twin beds and shared bathroom with large walk in shower.

The only thing that could have improved the quality of stay was the bed quality, all beds were metal frame and made some noise when moving around."
Kieran - Jan 1970
"Problem with heating for the duration of our stay, but staff where extremely helpful and provided heaters for all rooms."
Donna - Jan 1970
"Outstanding, spacious and luxurious!"
Elisha - Jan 1970
"In the main the lodge was clean but definitely not a deep clean as recommended. Huge clumps of dark hair in one of the bedrooms. Not mine as Im blonde!"
Jordan - Jan 1970
"The property is stunning, It is very modern with amazing attention to detail. The staff especially Niamh couldn't have done more to help us.
Would definitely recommend the property."
Ashley - Jan 1970
"The lodge was just missing scissors which would have been helpful when opening up food bags etc, not quite enough space to sit 8 all in the same place ie round the table or in the hot tub but we made it work"
Louise - Jan 1970
"Brilliant & cosy cottage far enough out the way to be secluded but close enough to local amenities. Amazing hotub & bathroom with underfloor heating throughout tops it off. The owners, Rob & Sharon are wonderful! (And of course Bonnie) Will definitely be coming back again for longer ASAP!!"
Christopher - Apr 2024
"Beautiful cottage with hot tub and log burner. lovely hosts, peaceful, perfect for our mini break. Hope to return for longer soon!"
Emma - Apr 2024
"Really well equipped house, lovely and warm too which was so nice on a rainy December day! Bath was just lovely and a nice big shower! The property is under a flight path - this did not disturb us at all! Dont be put off! A great location for dogs who hate fireworks as it's in the middle of nowhere. Really beautiful, well converted property. Thank you! "
Phoebe - Apr 2024
"It was everything we wanted for our weekend away and we loved staying here. We'll definitely be back! Our pups absolutely loved the underfloor heating and had so much fun in the garden. In fact Luna came home with a strained tail and according to the vet it was because she was wagging it so much over the weekend!! Very happy pups and hoomans!"
Andrew - Apr 2024
"Lovely cottage. Great location for us. Away from the hustle and bustle. Great hot tub . Lovely helpful non intrusive owners. They have it just right!"
Simon - Apr 2024
"Absolutely loved how well maintained and equipped this cottage is. Plenty of dog walks right on the doorstep. Very friendly host, they were so efficient and communication was excellent. We enjoyed meeting the animals on the farm and the very curious pig penelope. Perfect escape for us and the doggos. Will definitely be back, brilliant value!! Highly recommend. "
Brooke - Apr 2024
"Beautiful property, spotlessly clean, well equipped and very comfortable, had a fabulous break, hot tub amazing x"
Libby - Apr 2024
"Very kind and considerate owners. Couldnt be better. Enormously helpful and extremely pleasant. Charming half-timbered cottage with a great strong shower, cosy kitchen & living room combination and very comfortable bed. Fantastic parking directly next to the rented cottage. Well heated and very charming, and spotlessly clean. Great walks across the fields to the local village of Thaxted and of course within easy travelling distance of the village, replete with half-timbered houses and windmill. "
James - Apr 2024
"We had a wonderful time in Goddard Mead. The cottage was very complete and there were walks on the doorstep. The welcome and stay was very warm. The owners are lovely people."
Annemieke - Apr 2024
"The owners Rob & Sharon, have gone to a great deal of work to sympathetically convert this historic building & we couldn't have had a warmer greeting from them both & of course Bonnie. Goddard's Mead has everything you need for a relaxing and comfortable stay. The location is in a great area of Essex and would recommend taking the time to wander around Thaxted and other villages/towns nearby to discover it's fascinating history & buildings. "
Carol - Apr 2024
"Such a lovely place to stay in a really beautiful, private location. The owners were really friendly and helpful, nearby if needed but without breaking that sense of privacy. The hot tub was perfect after a day of cycling! One thing to be aware of, the cottage is right under Stansted's flight path, and so there's a lot of aircraft noise. It only took us a couple of hours to get used to it and it didn't spoil our holiday at all, but something to be aware of if you're sensitive to noise. "
Inderjit - Apr 2024
"The lovely cottage is situated on a working farm, but is very private. The owners, Robert and Sharon, are delightful. The cottage is very spacious with good equipment in the kitchen and the bathroom. The bed is really comfortable. The garden is secluded; dog proof and with good furniture. There are numerous walks around. Thaxted has good restaurants. We liked The Star and The Maypole. The Swan and the Indian are not bad either. We thoroughly recommend this place. "
Richard - Apr 2024
"We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and Sharon and Robert were great hosts and made us feel very welcome. The accommodation had everything we needed and was clean, comfortable and secure for our dog Archie. The location was ideal too with plenty of walks to find and Thaxted and surrounding villages are lovely places to visit. We felt our batteries had certainly been recharged during our week and we enjoyed our relaxing break! "
Denise - Apr 2024
"Stayed here for a week from 15 to 22 July with our 2 mini daschund girls who thoroughly enjoyed there stay making new friends in the village of thaxted. The cottage is lovely especially the hot tub a bonus as it was the hottest days of the year so the water was coolled so it was more refreshing the hosts were very welcoming was nice to see there horses being taken to the fields each day you are on the flight path near stansted but I enjoyed watching the planes come in would definitely recommend "
Sharon - Apr 2024
"Lovely accommodation, very peaceful and relaxing and great for dogs as the garden is fully inclosed"
Fleur - Apr 2024
"Had such a lovely, relaxing break. Cottage was immaculate, equipped with everything you need and some lovely added extras too. Couldnt recommended more"
Antonia - Apr 2024
"Had a lovely weekend away staying here. Would love to come back later on in the year."
Rachel - Apr 2024
"Had a fabulous long weekend, the views alone were worth the cost! Supermarkets are only a short drive away and the staff were lovely and helpful, even going as far as texting to let us know about potential roadworks on route! I honestly couldn’t fault a single thing."
