The Sherwood Hideaway Lodges Reviews

"Our family's stay at Sherwood away was a complete and utter disaster, a stark contrast to the relaxing break we desperately needed with our 12-week-old baby. This experience was a masterclass in how to ruin a family holiday. From the outset, we were misled. We specifically confirmed a travel cot would fit in the master bedroom, yet arrived to a lodge that was not only different from the advertised images but also completely unsuitable for our needs. The initial lodge was cramped and nothing like the photos, and the promised cot space simply didn't exist. The "solution" was equally appalling. We were moved to a replacement lodge that was a catalogue of errors: a strong pet odor (despite not booking pet-friendly), a blocked dishwasher, a leaking shower, and a dangerously leaking ceiling. The state of the accommodation was unacceptable, clearly demonstrating run-down and poorly maintained lodges. However, the accommodation issues were overshadowed by the utterly appalling customer service. Alison, a receptionist, was exceptionally rude and dismissive. She verbally attacked me, making false accusations and dismissing my concerns with a level of aggression that left me in tears. Her behavior was deeply unprofessional and incredibly upsetting. Promises of callbacks from management were consistently ignored, leaving us feeling completely disregarded. This is not a family-friendly environment. The misleading information, the substandard accommodation, and the dismissive, abusive staff made our first family holiday a nightmare. We were made to feel like a burden, and the stress caused was immense.Sherwood away is not worth the money. The lodges are not as advertised, the customer service is dreadful, and it is certainly not a place for families. If you are looking for a relaxing, family-friendly getaway, stay elsewhere. You will regret wasting your time and money on this establishment."

"Our The Sherwood Hideaway Lodges review: We got bumped over to the Birches lodges because of a problem with our original one, but honestly, we loved it! Huge thanks to the staff - The Birches felt like an upgrade and we really appreciated the change. Definitely a great experience!"
Marcus Evans - Dec 2024
"We really enjoyed our stay! The lodge was spotless, comfy and had everything we needed. Loved the little extras like the free toiletries, tea, coffee and even treats for our dog. Brilliant!"
Alex - Dec 2024
"So, we checked in and at first glance, the place looked lovely. The lodge had a nice wooden feel and the views were pretty stunning. The rooms were a decent size too, so no complaints there. But things started to go downhill pretty quick. We wanted to relax in the hot tub on Friday night, but none of the jets worked - after about 10 minutes, we gave up and got out. The next day, I called reception and they sent someone to look at it. Turns out the motor was broken and the water was full of dead skin and dirt - pretty gross, honestly. They said they couldnt move us because the boss wasnt around and just told us to use another lodges hot tub whenever we liked. Walking over in the freezing cold and pitch darkness in swimwear? Not exactly ideal. We did it once, but that was enough. The hot tub we used was much cleaner and way hotter, with jets actually working, so that was a plus. On Saturday, we tried to use the oven, but only the grill was functional - baking jacket spuds was quite the challenge. The fridge barely cooled anything, so forget about keeping drinks cold. The site itself looked lovely, but it was a shame that all the walkways, fields and forests were closed off - wouldve been nice to explore. Honestly, I wouldnt have booked if I knew the hot tub wasnt going to be working properly - that was the main reason we chose this place!"
Oliver Hart - Oct 2024
"We had a really lovely stay at this lodge. The decor was modern and well-kept, making us feel like we were in a fancy hotel, especially with the slippers and robes provided. Its perfect location meant we could easily get to all the nearby attractions. Ending our days in the hot tub was a real treat!"
Jessica - Aug 2024
"We had a fantastic stay at the lodge! It was spotlessly clean and super cosy - perfect for our week away with the dogs. The location was great and the enclosed decking was a real bonus, letting us keep the patio doors open without worries. The bed was incredibly comfy and the Egyptian cotton sheets made a real difference. Honestly, we couldnt find a single fault and would definitely recommend it to others. Well be back for sure!"
Harriet - Jul 2024
"Overall, we had a lovely stay. The lodge was really nicely decorated and well equipped, which made it feel quite cosy. A couple of things, like the TV not working properly and the iPod dock being broken, could definitely be sorted. Also, the bathrooms could do with a bit of a freshen up. Still, we enjoyed our time!"
Amelia - Jun 2024
"We had a lovely stay at this lodge! Its super cosy and well equipped, with nice touches like dressing gowns for the kids and treats for the dog-really thoughtful. The hot tub was a highlight, absolutely fantastic. Only downside was the lack of access to nearby woodlands, so we had to drive to explore. Still, a great break!"
Tom - Apr 2024
"We stayed at this lodge recently and overall, it was a decent experience, but there were a few things that couldve been better. The place was spotlessly clean, which we appreciated and the view from the lodge was really lovely - super peaceful and perfect for relaxing. The shower was actually quite nice, too and its handy that there are takeaways nearby for food delivery. The location was great, right near the woods and we enjoyed walking around the other lodges on the road. However, we were a bit disappointed to find that there was no clear access to the forest - only one sign saying no access, so we assumed we could walk straight in, but that wasnt the case. Plus, the sign in the lodge about a disease in the forest meant we couldnt take our dog on proper walks in the woods, which was a shame. We did find some paths around other lodges, but it wasnt quite what we expected. When we arrived, we were told wed get wine and chocolates, but there was only dog treats, which my dog cant eat - bit of a let-down there. Also, the hot tub wasnt exactly pristine - it was full of leaves, so it clearly hadnt been cleaned. The doors were a bit stiff and noisy at night and the power points were poorly placed. Still, we enjoyed the view and the peaceful setting - just a few things to improve on!"
Sarah Green - Nov 2023
"We had an absolutely lovely time and would definitely suggest it to friends. Sorry, no photos!"
Claire - Feb 2020
"We really enjoyed our stay here! The outdoor space is secure, perfect for leaving our big dog outside when needed. Its handy having a tap to wash muddy paws and a dog towel with treats - lovely touch! Inside is just the right size for a large dog too. Plus, tons of great walks nearby make it even better."
Ellie Morgan - Jan 2020
"We had a really lovely weekend as a family. The place was great and wed definitely love to come back, hopefully with better weather next time!"
Jamie - Nov 2019
"Really cosy and well-kept lodges"
Sam - Oct 2019
"When we arrived, the hot tub jets were a bit confusing at first, probably set wrong by the last guests, so we had weak jets for a couple of nights. Luckily, asking reception for help sorted it out quickly. Sadly, we also noticed some leftover food on the spatula-really crusty onion bits! Its a shame because it suggests the room checks could be a bit tighter during handovers. Overall, though, the staff responded well and the rest of our stay was pretty good."
Harper - Oct 2019
"We dont usually revisit places, but this ones definitely on our list to return to soon."
Clara - Sep 2019
"Really enjoyed our stay here! The lodge was spotless and it was lovely how they looked after our dog with treats and a towel. Brilliant!"
Mike - Dec 2017
"We loved the peaceful surroundings and how private it felt. The lodge was lovely and spacious, perfect for November. The only downside was the tiny fridge, but overall, a great break!"
James - Nov 2017
"The accommodation was absolutely spot on, really clean, tidy and had everything we needed. The hot tub was checked every day, which was great!"
Hannah - Oct 2014
"We had a brilliant time in the lodges! They were really clean and in a great location. The welcome pack was such a nice extra touch!"
Lucy - Oct 2014
"We found that the shelf missing from the fridge really caused some issues with fitting everything in. It was a bit frustrating trying to organise our food without that space. Overall, we like the fridge, but that one little thing made it tricky!"
Chloe - Oct 2014
"The log cabin was stunning and extremely clean. The beds were super comfy, the shower was fantastic etc and the hot tub just made it even better!"
Callum - Sep 2014
"We had a lovely stay in these well appointed lodges that really made for a comfortable and relaxing break! The lodge was immaculately clean with lots of lovely touches that made it feel special."
Rachel - Aug 2014
"We found this lovely modern accommodation with all the trimmings! It's got everything you need when you're away, even those little things you sometimes forget, like an iron and a hair dryer. Perfect for a hassle-free stay!"
Rebecca - Aug 2014
"Very pricey but definitely worth the relaxation! The hot tub was fantastic. The beds were super clean and comfy and the kitchen had everything we needed. The only issue we ran into was that the dishwasher had some stale water in it, but we didn't notice until later since we didn't use it or open the door. Aside from that, it was a lovely place to unwind."
Laura - Jun 2014
"We booked a hideaway lodge for a 40th birthday surprise and honestly couldn't have picked a better spot. When we arrived, there was a lovely bottle of wine and some chocolates waiting for us, plus they even gave us a bottle of champagne to celebrate my husb and's big 4-0! The location is super peaceful, surrounded by beautiful woods, making it perfect for cycling, walking, or just kicking back. The lodge was spotless, really well decorated and fully equipped and the hot tub was just the cherry on top. Perfect!"
