Sherwood Forest Lodges

These luxury lodges in the Nottinghamshire area have an amazing location in the biggest area of woodland in Sherwood Forest.  With the most stunning forest views and an abundance of cycle trails and walks, these lodges will really appeal to lovers of nature and outdoor activities.  Some popular activities on site include mountain biking and hire and ranger led walks which are available at extra cost.

The play areas within the forest will keep the children entertained and of course there is plenty of outdoor space to play and run off some energy.  The whole family can enjoy the walks and cycle trails as well as the local market towns which are ideal for days out.

There is a good selection of accommodation on offer to suite different styles and budgets.  The Golden Oak lodges are the most luxurious of all with bath robes and luxury toileteries as an added bonus.  The Golden Oak 2 sleeps 4 adults with a master double bedroom and one twin bedroom.  There is also a log burning stove and plenty of mod cons to make your stay a comfortable one.  The Golden Oak 3 is a very similar lodge but sleeps 6 with one master double bedroom and two twin rooms.  Both of the Golden Oak lodges come with private outdoor hot tubs.

We also love the Silver Birch lodges which provide a luxury base for your lodge holiday.  The Silver Birch 2 is ideal for romantic breaks and special occasions and comes with a private outdoor hot tub.  The Silver Birch 3 is slightly larger and sleeps 6, also with an outdoor hot tub.

The Copper Beech 2 lodge is excellent value for money and sleeps 4.  This is a spacious lodges with one double and one twin bedroom. All of the lodges are equipped with a flatscreen TV, entertainment system and dishwasher as standard.

Sherwood Forest Lodges are ideally located for days out and we recommend Sherwood Forest Fun Park less than 3 miles from the lodges as well as Wheelgate Adventure Park around 4 miles away.  Crich Tramway Village in Matlock is also well worth a visit.

Date of stay: 26th January 2018
The lodge was lovely and clean when we arrived. Did have to wash the dishes before we used them but that was not much of a problem. The underfloor heating is great and really warms up the lodge and isnt very difficult to work out how to operate it. The beds are very comfy and clean too. Log burner was a great little touch and the board games with brilliant too. The hot tub was definitely the best feature, especially at night under the stars
Lesley, Buxton
Date of stay: 26th January 2018
We had a great few days. Very lucky with the weather. Great walks at Sherwood Pines, Clumber Park, Rufford Abbey and Sherwood Forest. Nothing too far away. Lodge was clean, big and had everything (and more) that we needed.
Kath, Northallerton
Date of stay: 5th January 2018
Lovely lodge. Great holiday. Nice surroundings.
Carol, Lincolnshire
Date of stay: 18th December 2017
Very well looked after lodge, comfortable beds and plenty of heat from the underfloor heating. Kitchen was well thought out and the living room spacious. Haven't given it 10/10 as there was a lack of storage in the main bedroom, and the ensuite to the large disabled bedroom did not have it's own shower. The shower room down the hallway was well equipped, but having to go out of the main bedroom to get a shower was not appropriate. A little more thought on this type of layout wouldn't go amiss.
Andrea, Barnsley
Date of stay: 11th December 2017

Date of stay: 28th April 2017
The lodge was beautiful. It had everything we needed. Hot tub was great. The staff were very friendly and accommodating and upon our request showed us around the other lodges so we knew what we would get should we came again and with a larger group.

The pans to cook with there TERRIBLE, no matter what we cooked it stuck and burned... oil or not... i do appreciate they will be well used, but maybe new ones every now and then wouldn't go a miss.

The mid week quiz was good fun :-) even though we came last lol

Very good place to stay.... :-)

Date of stay: 14th October 2016
Loved the lodge and had a perfect location. I would have liked a cosy rug to break up all the laminate flooring - also the beds were lovely and comfortable however sorry to say but the pillows were awful. Other than that we loved it. It would've been perfect with a log burner but the lodges with those were £100 more and way over our budget.

Date of stay: 4th September 2015
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay four nights just wasnt long enough. The cabin was lovely , the staff were friendly and helpful although the onsite shop was very expensive. Situated at Sherwood Pines there was lots of bike ride and walks. We took our dog and found it was very dog friendly - Ithink even our dog was sad to come home . Would definately go again but next time for longer
Lindsey, Beccles Suffolk
Date of stay: 14th August 2015

The was just out of this world, pure luxury. We so much enjoy celebrating our silver anniversary in Golden Oak hideaway. We will be staying in a Golden Oak Hideaway again.
Viki, Northampton
Date of stay: 16th March 2015
Overall we had a very pleasant stay, however, on arrival we noticed that a half empty bottle of wine had been left out on the decking from the previous guests, the tiles around the kitchen were not cleaned properly and the bathrooms could certainly have been cleaner.

By far the most problematic issue with the cabin was the placement of the smoke detectors. Whilst of course they are essential in the property, by placing one of them directly above the table IN the kitchen, every time we cooked anything it went off which, as I presume they are linked, set off the other one.

Rest assured we were not burning anything; we are all very able cooks and one of the times it went off, some bacon had barely been in the grill for 5 minutes on a low heat.

The alarm in the kitchen could not be stopped by pressing a reset button and the one in the hall way was too high to reach. We therefore had to climb on chairs and 'waft' them for 10 minutes to stop it. This happened three times, once after 9pm. Given that the welcome information in the lodge requests that the 'serenity of the forest' is respected, I dread to think what our neighbours thought, and we certainly didn't feel overly relaxed as a result!

Other than this, we had an enjoyable stay, but I would recommend that you look into this issue.
Poxton, Tottington,
Date of stay: 23rd February 2015
Few suggestions. More hot tub towels. Maybe heater outside then we could have sat outside at night.
Date of stay: 6th February 2015
Amazing, staff on arrival who came to show us how to work everything was very helpful.
Underfloor heating a treat! Making my hubby very envious and a must as it snowed.
Incabin ordering fantastic idea as when you wrk 60 hr weeks,it helps us to relax an not move.
Dawn, Derbyshire
Date of stay: 12th January 2015
The lodges were very spacious and modern and the photos on the website do not do them justice.
I could happily live in one of these as there is everything you need. You can even order food to your cabin if you don't fancy cooking
Emma, Boston, Lincs
Date of stay: 9th January 2015
Our cabin was lovely (no 24).
Carol, Lincolnshire
Date of stay: 22nd December 2014
A lovely, classy lodge with plenty of space. Even though it was the cheapest of the lodges, it was still a quality lodge with all that you would need for a break. The only downside for me was that the lounge floor could have been cleaner, and considering it is a dog-friendly lodge which you pay extra for if you want to bring your dog(s), it was supposed to have been deep cleaned.
Kathryn, Huntingdon
Date of stay: 17th November 2014
Very clean and very comfortable
Alison, Derby
Date of stay: 10th November 2014

Our lodge was absolutely fantastic...Very clean, very spacious and lovely decor with all amenities you need.
Andrew, Bedlington
Date of stay: 18th August 2014
A lot of the walls had bits of paint missing and in the bathroom the towel rail had been moved but the existing holes had just been caked with filler and left. Also the wifi was not working until the second day. This may not seem like much but when you are paying as much you expect those thinks to be right.
Anne, Liverpool
Date of stay: 15th August 2014
The lodge was gorgeous, as it was a quite new too, nothing had been spoiled at all. Would have liked a few more channels on the TV, as we didn't get the entertainment package.
Kris, Belgium
Date of stay: 8th August 2014
10/10 everywhere, but with the money I paid I didn't expect less.
Stuart, Lanark
Date of stay: 4th August 2014
Very expensive in peak season plus extra charges for tv, towels, laundry, etc. bring value for money down... Iron and ironing board expected in this standard accomodation. Overall comfort and cleanliness is excellent but all windows and blinds were filthy, spoiling the beautiful views to the forest.
Kelsey, Blyth, Northumberland
Date of stay: 25th July 2014
Everything you could need in the treehouse. Gorgeous

What a lovely tranquil place to stay in the heart of the forest. Lodges are not on top of each other so you have plenty of privacy. Hot tub a lovely added bonus and was also cleaned each morning. Staff very friendly, nothing not to like

Great accomodation, but bathroom could do with some updating as decor worn and tired
Aneesa, Birmingham
Date of stay: 2nd June 2014
Strongly recommend a hoover in the cabins where dogs are welcome as a broom is not sufficient enough when staying for 3 day's
Suzanne, Nottingham
Date of stay: 23rd May 2014
Beautiful cabin and very spacious. There were 8 of us on holiday and it didn't feel like we were under each other's feet at any point.
Alison, Congleton

Nicholas, Reading
Date of stay: 7th March 2014
Loved the hot tub which was cleaned everyday.
Lodge was clean
Log fire - would have liked a bigger starter pack as only got 1 log!
Date of stay: 21st February 2014
Had a great time. Lodge was lovely with all you would expect & the hot tub did not dissapoint! A different kind of break away from home, just went too quickly (5 days/4 nights). And the dog (dukie boy) loved roaming in the forrest! Activities for the kids are bit expensive, though enough to do anyway without spending too much on them. The path leading to reception that you drive down definitely needs looking at though. Would go again, maybe in the summer next time.i

Date of stay: 21st February 2014
Our golden oak cabin was amazing. Although i have to say i think our favourite thing had to have been the hot tub. That really was lovely after a day of exploring!!

Lindsay, Tamworth
Date of stay: 31st January 2014
We stayed in a Golden oak luxury lodge and it was superb and the hot tub was a very much appreciated luxury after a days cycling round the forest. All spotlessly clean, had a broken settee on arrival an within half an hour it had been changed, couldn't of asked for more friendly and helpful staff!!!
Shelley, Chorley
Date of stay: 27th January 2014
There wasn't a facility to play our CD's that we'd brought with us which was disappointing. I'm not sure whether we could have used the Wii for this but we didn't dare try it an case we broke anything!
However, that is the only minor complaint. We thoroughly our accomodation hence the score of 10.
Rory, Ipswich
Date of stay: 17th January 2014

Date of stay: 17th January 2014
The lodge was wonderful, really spacious lounge area, however there were pet hairs on the floor of the lodge so could have done with a better clean.
Susan, Milton Keynes
Date of stay: 13th January 2014
Overall excellent lodge. Shower grouting needed a clean or re grout
very dirty. Pots and pans were hidden a notice to say where they are would help.Instructions for dishwasher not clear took 3 atemps to get it working. No oven instructions either and clearer instructions for the heating too.
Jo, Ripley, Derbyshire
Date of stay: 10th January 2014
We were all satisfied with comfort but a little thing like only 2 tea towels that were thread bare and the dishwasher not working properly prevented full marks being given.
Graham, Swanland
Date of stay: 3rd January 2014
Outside decking area covered in cigarette ends and disposable lighters around hot tub. Inside very clean but more attention to outside space would have been good.Marked down cleanliness due to decking area.
Karen, Coventry
Date of stay: 3rd January 2014
Fridge was not switched on and didn't know until near end of holiday I thought it was broken. Prices for food and drink ordered should be review very expensive, but did try pizza very nice, but like I said it was nearly £10 for 4 bottles of bear I think that is very expensive.
Heather, Huntingdon
Date of stay: 23rd December 2013
The lodge was fantastic and the hot tub mmmm
Absolutely fantastic time We just wanted to go off the grid for the wkend and this place ticked all the boxes Definitely going to book again
Only major issue was not having a bath in the cabin.
The cabin far exceeded our expectations and was cleaned and well kept to a very high standard. The park itself is lovely and all my daughter wanted to do was get back to the cabin for the hot tub, would definitely recommend for a relaxing getaway.
Great facility and the staff were very helpful
Brilliant snowy weekend in the forest
Best welekend away well worth every penny me and my husband are looking at taking the kids in the school holidays. It really is a lovely place the nature and all the local plus on site activities definitely choose this for my children than anywhere abroad. Thanks for an amazing unforgettable weekend
Clean spacious log cabin, everything you need supplied
Made my husbands 30th birthday fantastic
We had the most amazing and relaxing time with our two young children.
Absolutely loved staying here with my partner for a mid-week break. So good for privacy and just to relax and get away from the world for a few days. Very clean and lovely place to stay. Would definitely recommend.
Great experience
Excellent location and the silver birch lodge has everything you could want. Very busy at check in times so prepare for a little wait. Lots of great places to visit nearby and our dog loved it.

Fun Days Out near Sherwood Forest Lodges

about 15 Miles
This is an all weather attraction located in Ilkeston Derbyshire.  With a large play frame as well as bikes and ride on toys this is a fun place for young children.  The toddler time sessions take place during term times on week days from 9.30am until 2.30pm and are very popular. The admission fee is excellent value for money and parents can sit down and enjoy a drink while the children play. A new baby changing facility has now been installed together with some new chairs making this a clean and welcoming attraction for families.  Look out for offers on their website such as a free hot drink on select days.
about 16 Miles
Denby visitor centre is a fun day out in the Derbyshire region with an array of activities iunder one roof.  An all weather attraction you can take pottery tours, see cookery demonstrations and visit Bourne's restaurant.  There are events and offers on throughout the year for example the Denby factory Shops sale where you can save £££s and October Creepy Crypt for Halloween where you can go along in fancy dress and have your face painted.  Booking is advised so check out the latest details on their website.

This is a top class theme park with plenty to do for the whole family.  From thrilling rides to more gentle activities for the little ones this place is ideal.  The best thing is that 50% of their attractions are under cover so the British weather needn't spoil the fun.
about 19 Miles
This unique attraction combines an array of activities.  If you have a look on their website there are some good video clips which give an even better idea of what this attraction is all about.  Some of the highlights include the Cable Car system which is actually Britain's first alpine style cable car system.  You are transported from the valley floor right up above where you can enjoy superb Dewent Valley Views.  You can also stroll around 60 acres of wooded hillside on foot to see an array of birds and wildlife.
