The Sherwood Hideaway Lodges Reviews

"We had such a chilled weekend with our two dogs. Everything we needed was provided and were already planning our next visit. Cant wait!"
Emily Carter - Jan 2025
"Really frustrating, weve loved it before, but now..."
Emma - Jan 2025
"We got bumped over to the Birches lodges because of a problem with our original one, but honestly, we loved it! Huge thanks to the staff - The Birches felt like an upgrade and we really appreciated the change. Definitely a great experience!"
Marcus Evans - Dec 2024
"We really enjoyed our stay! The lodge was spotless, comfy and had everything we needed. Loved the little extras like the free toiletries, tea, coffee and even treats for our dog. Brilliant!"
Alex - Dec 2024
"Our The Sherwood Hideaway Lodges review: The lodge was cosy but a tad cramped for four of us and our dog. Still lovely!"
Emma Carter - Nov 2024
"So, we checked in and at first glance, the place looked lovely. The lodge had a nice wooden feel and the views were pretty stunning. The rooms were a decent size too, so no complaints there. But things started to go downhill pretty quick. We wanted to relax in the hot tub on Friday night, but none of the jets worked - after about 10 minutes, we gave up and got out. The next day, I called reception and they sent someone to look at it. Turns out the motor was broken and the water was full of dead skin and dirt - pretty gross, honestly. They said they couldnt move us because the boss wasnt around and just told us to use another lodges hot tub whenever we liked. Walking over in the freezing cold and pitch darkness in swimwear? Not exactly ideal. We did it once, but that was enough. The hot tub we used was much cleaner and way hotter, with jets actually working, so that was a plus. On Saturday, we tried to use the oven, but only the grill was functional - baking jacket spuds was quite the challenge. The fridge barely cooled anything, so forget about keeping drinks cold. The site itself looked lovely, but it was a shame that all the walkways, fields and forests were closed off - wouldve been nice to explore. Honestly, I wouldnt have booked if I knew the hot tub wasnt going to be working properly - that was the main reason we chose this place!"
Oliver Hart - Oct 2024
"We had a lovely, laid-back week here. Relaxing in the hot tub while watching shooting stars was truly unforgettable. The location was perfect for exploring National Trust sites and other historic spots, plus there were towns nearby for some shopping. The lodge itself had everything we needed, though the TV had no signal, but luckily we could still watch Netflix on our account. The only minor thing was the dog walkers at night, shining torches around the back of the lodge when we were in the hot tub-gave us quite a fright!"
Emma - Sep 2024
"The cabin looked quite old and a bit worn, but the bed was super comfy and spotless. Definitely cozy!"
Emma Carter - Sep 2024
"Great spot, comfy stay, highly recommend!"
Emma Carter - Sep 2024
"Beautiful clean and spacious lodge. Well equipped. Hot tub great. Very quiet and secluded place. Would stay again."
Verified Guest - Aug 2024
"Great amenities, all essentials covered, really impressed!"
Emma - Aug 2024
"We had a really lovely stay at this lodge. The decor was modern and well-kept, making us feel like we were in a fancy hotel, especially with the slippers and robes provided. Its perfect location meant we could easily get to all the nearby attractions. Ending our days in the hot tub was a real treat!"
Jessica - Aug 2024
"We had a fantastic stay at the lodge! It was spotlessly clean and super cosy - perfect for our week away with the dogs. The location was great and the enclosed decking was a real bonus, letting us keep the patio doors open without worries. The bed was incredibly comfy and the Egyptian cotton sheets made a real difference. Honestly, we couldnt find a single fault and would definitely recommend it to others. Well be back for sure!"
Harriet - Jul 2024
"Comfortable and well-kept place"
Emma - May 2024
"We had a lovely stay at this lodge! Its super cosy and well equipped, with nice touches like dressing gowns for the kids and treats for the dog-really thoughtful. The hot tub was a highlight, absolutely fantastic. Only downside was the lack of access to nearby woodlands, so we had to drive to explore. Still, a great break!"
Tom - Apr 2024
"We had to switch lodges at Sherwood aways, so unfortunately we can't really comment on the original place since we didnt stay there."
Emma Roberts - Mar 2024
"We recently stayed in this dog-friendly 2 bed lodge after having a one-bedroom there before and its just as lovely, if not better! The space is more spacious and everything was spotless, with all the facilities youd need. The private decking and hot tub overlooking the grass and woodl and are a real highlight, with plenty of wildlife around. We werent bothered by the other lodges nearby, even when some were occupied. Parking was straightforward too. Overall, a really nice place!"
Emma - Mar 2024
"We chose this place mainly because it was pretty close to home and Ive been caring for my dad full-time since my mum passed last year. Honestly, we just wanted to relax and unwind after a long week. The hot tub was a real letdown - it was freezing the entire time and despite checking it, it never warmed up. The surrounding area of the hot tub was also quite dirty, which was a bit off-putting. We only saw the lady checking in on us after five days, which felt a bit odd since we were there for a whole week. The gate latch was broken, so we had to keep the dogs on leads to stop them escaping. When we left, I stripped the beds and found the quilt was filthy. I really wish Id saved my money on this trip."
Emma - Feb 2024
"The stay was lovely, Lodge 23 suited us down to the ground. Peaceful spot, just what we needed, truly relaxing!"
Emily Carter - Jan 2024
"We had a lovely stay at the cabin and honestly, the place itself was great. The only things that could be improved are minor. The main bathroom could do with a proper shower - maybe a high-up shower head over the bath, alongside the current one, which was handy for rinsing the dog. The kids had to use our bathroom, which was fine, but Id prefer not to do that if we were visiting with friends. Also, there were no power sockets in the double bedroom, which was a bit of a pain with a teenager around. Still, overall, we had a fantastic time. Just some small suggestions to make it even better!"
Emma - Nov 2023
"The lodge was quite peaceful and warm, which we loved. However, some things could do with a refresh-knives were broken and theres no bottle opener. Still, comfy beds made it enjoyable."
Emma - Nov 2023
"The lodge looked nothing like the photos, quite disappointed with the actual place."
Emma Carter - Nov 2023
"We stayed at this lodge recently and overall, it was a decent experience, but there were a few things that couldve been better. The place was spotlessly clean, which we appreciated and the view from the lodge was really lovely - super peaceful and perfect for relaxing. The shower was actually quite nice, too and its handy that there are takeaways nearby for food delivery. The location was great, right near the woods and we enjoyed walking around the other lodges on the road. However, we were a bit disappointed to find that there was no clear access to the forest - only one sign saying no access, so we assumed we could walk straight in, but that wasnt the case. Plus, the sign in the lodge about a disease in the forest meant we couldnt take our dog on proper walks in the woods, which was a shame. We did find some paths around other lodges, but it wasnt quite what we expected. When we arrived, we were told wed get wine and chocolates, but there was only dog treats, which my dog cant eat - bit of a let-down there. Also, the hot tub wasnt exactly pristine - it was full of leaves, so it clearly hadnt been cleaned. The doors were a bit stiff and noisy at night and the power points were poorly placed. Still, we enjoyed the view and the peaceful setting - just a few things to improve on!"
Sarah Green - Nov 2023
"We stayed at the chalet recently. While the place was okay, it had a strong smoke smell, especially in the main bedroom wardrobe, which was a bit off-putting. The linen was lovely though! There wasnt enough crockery, so we used the dishwasher a lot, but thats just a minor thing. The decking and hot tub got covered in leaves from nearby trees, which was a bit frustrating. Theres not much happening on-site, but plenty of lovely spots nearby. Wi-Fi was a bit patchy but manageable."
Emily - Nov 2023
"The cabin was lovely overall, but a bit more attention to cleaning wouldve made it perfect. Also, with five of us staying a week, fresh towels wouldve been nice - we probably couldve asked, but it shouldve been standard anyway!"
Emma - Aug 2020
"The lodge was spotless and super comfy, with some nice little touches like cushions outside. Lovely stay!"
Emma - Jul 2020
"Absolutely loved the seclusion and woodl and views here!"
Emma - Jul 2020
"This lodge was really charming and in a fantastic spot, making it perfect for our little getaway. The hot tub was spotless and really added to the experience. Only downside was the lack of champagne flutes and no serrated knife, which made slicing fresh bread a bit tricky. Still, we enjoyed it!"
Emma - Jul 2020
"We had a pretty good stay overall. The lodge was lovely and the hot tub was a real treat after a day out. We booked a pet lodge since it was the only option left and did notice some pet hair in the living area, which was a bit disappointing. The rooms were spacious, well-kept and the beds were really comfy with soft pillows - we slept well! One thing that could be improved is the lighting from reception to the lodges; it was quite dim at night, making it tricky to see. Also, we wish wed been told the pool was quite far away and that thered be an extra charge, plus no kids allowed, which was a bit of a surprise. Still, liked how the lodges werent crammed together - it felt more private."
Emily - Mar 2020
"We had an absolutely lovely time and would definitely suggest it to friends. Sorry, no photos!"
Claire - Feb 2020
"The lodges where lovely and clean. The staff were great and welcoming too."
Zoe - Jul 2022
"Excellent facilities in a brilliant location."
Misty - Jun 2022
"Such a beautiful place to relax, surrounded by stunning woodlands and wildlife it truly is an amazing experience! Highly recommended and will definitely be back in the future ?"
Stephanie - Jun 2022
"Loved our time at the Sherwood Hideaway - Great escape to get away from it all and celebrate the Wife's birthday with the kids (& dog)"
Anthony - Mar 2022
"Had a brilliant lovely relaxing time"
Sarah - Mar 2022
"Lovely spacious lodges. Accommodation was very clean upon arrival. Hot tub water checked every morning by staff."
Stephen - Mar 2022
"Beautiful lodges in a perfect location for exploring Sherwood Forest and Nottingham"
Sarah - Mar 2022
"We had an amazing time- the hideaway was lovely, we fell for a great weekend. The rooms were lovely, everything we needed and the two fridges were handy. Comfy beds, wonderful hot tub- just a lovely relaxing weekend. Only issue and it’s a non issue, the settees weren’t very comfy- but honestly, we will be back. Amazing. Thank you ?"
Erica - Mar 2022
"A lovely site and perfect base to explore Sherwood Forest"
Amanda - Feb 2022
"We had a lovely break last weekend, the surroundings were peaceful and it was lovely to get close to nature. We would love to come back here again sometime in the future."
