Date of stay: 30th June 2017
A beautiful Lodge and surroundings, but a little remote for our liking - a simple trip out for milk was 30miles round journey.
The hot tub was bliss.
Remember to pack your Midge spray!
Missed having Wi-Fi.
Brian, Wigan
Date of stay: 24th June 2017
Slightly disappointed that we could hear traffic (especially motor bikes and lorries) from the main road. However, this did not spoil anything but would have preferred a quieter location. Enjoyed our stay!
Steven, Hornsea
Date of stay: 16th June 2017
This was the first time we stayed in a lodge and were really impressed by the space and airiness of the cabin. Everything we needed was provided and in good condition.
The hot tub was an added bonus.

Just the perfect tranquil setting. Amazing views. Great walks and trails.
Dark skies are just breath taking.

We stopped in the Little owl lodge and it was fantastic! It catered for all our needs.
The hot tub was a real treat and we had a private garden which was an added bonus for our doggy !

10/10 for cleanliness and the park staff were so friendly and helpful.

Thank you so much for an amazing time.

We shall be back!

Laura, Scott and Suzie the dog.

Date of stay: 10th February 2017
We had a lovely time in Heron Lodge. Located 5 miles from the Scottish border and 10 miles to the nearest English village. Such a peaceful place and the owners are lovely. The hot tub was made full use of including in the middle of a snow storm and was just gorgeous. If you get chance do take a trip to the Kielder Observatory, even if the weather is cloudy its still an interesting night.
Allan, Inverness
Date of stay: 4th February 2017
The lodge was very comfortable and warm. Well equipped and clean. It could have however benefited from an additional shower as one shower for three bedrooms is not enough.
Victora
Date of stay: 18th November 2016

excellant lodge, plenty of room for 6 adults to fit comfortably, nice and clean
Alison, Wakefield
Date of stay: 5th February 2016
Lodge was very nice but drawback was no opening door directly onto veranda and hot tub, also nowhere to dry swimwear, towels etc.
Jacquie, Duns
Date of stay: 1st February 2016
The lodge was beautiful and we'll equipped
Amanda
Date of stay: 25th January 2016
Lovely lodge to relax in
Christopher, Dunfermline
Date of stay: 22nd January 2016
Ideal size for 2 adults with 2 medium sized dogs. Our personal preference wouldn't be to share this with other adults as twin beds a little narrow and it would be too cosy for our preference. Also needed slightly bigger pans if cooking for more than 2 people with healthy appatites. But facilities great. Modern enough appliances and everything thought of including some dvd's to watch
Christine, York
Date of stay: 6th January 2016
Stayed here over the new year and it was absolutely lovely. We had our own Christmas tree and a present upon our arrival which I thought was a very thoughtful touch. The hot tub is lovely although would have benefited from being covered.
Marc, Durham
Date of stay: 21st December 2015
Lodge and hot tub were brilliant - we took a 2 year old and the beds in the second bedroom were very high for her so she spent most of the holiday in our bed and the double (possible 2/3s was very small) that's the only issue we had with the accommodation - the living area and the kitchen were well stocked with utensils and good comfy furniture - make sure you take enough food as the shops are miles away
Alison, Trimdon
Date of stay: 7th December 2015
Luxurious, warm & cozy. Spotlessly clean everything you need including tea bags, milk coffee and all the essential.
Hot tub superb.
Linda, Thirsk, North Yorkshire

Andrew
Date of stay: 16th November 2015
Lodge was clean and tidy on arrival, only disappointment was that the oven was broke on our 3 day stay. No fault of the staff, but this did compromise our dining plans although the staff were extremely helpful on this occasion.

Date of stay: 28th August 2015
Lovely lodges, will definitely be going again. Only problem we had was finding a place to put up a travel cot but that is the only negative I have for this place. Amazing!
Margaret, Whitby
Date of stay: 28th August 2015
Osprey Lodge was well appointed. The decor was lovely. Everything was in top notch condition, nothing was shabby or worn. It was completely clean, the cleaners do a very good job, it really was perfect, which is not easy to achieve.

The hot tub was great, after a day of lots of walking whilst sightseeing, it was lovely to sink into the warm water.
Julia, Shrewsbury
Date of stay: 22nd August 2015
The location was excellent with a stream right outside our veranda which made using the hot tub a delight. Everything we needed was provided including complimentary tea, coffee and biscuits.

The cabin was clean and well maintained and everything worked great.

The only thing that would have made it perfect was if it had WiFi, but as it is in a remote location perhaps this isn't possible.

Would definitely recommend this place and would go again.
Charlotte, York

Date of stay: 27th June 2015
We stayed at this lodge (Heron) in 2012 and were delighted to find that several updates have been done in that time (second toilet, new kitchen and appliances) plus quality of linens were of good standard.
Deborah, Gateshead
Date of stay: 26th June 2015
We only ever stay in the Goshawk Lodge and again had a superb time. One comment I would like to make is that the chair and sofa are looking a little tired so could be replaced. Home from Home holiday and we will be back again in September and again next year.
Diane, Blackpool
Date of stay: 19th June 2015
Did what it said.
Stacey, Rotherham
Date of stay: 12th June 2015
The lodge was very clean and tidy and situated in a great location near the small stream. We always had hot water and everything functioned efficiently. We found this holiday amazing value for money and would certainly return in the future.

Charlotte, Durham
Date of stay: 16th March 2015
Heron lodge was stunning, cosy, clean and exceeded all our expectations and we had an amazing relaxed weekend. The kitchen has everything you would need and we had many family dinners around the big dining table. The veranda was ideal with the little river running out the back which was the ideal setting for the hot tub. I can't fault anything. Heron lodge will not disappoint.
June, Cleethorpes
Date of stay: 13th February 2015
We loved it!! The park itself is on the edge of Kielder Forest and is accessible via a bridge in the park. Remote location but that's what we wanted. Nearest pub about 5 miles.
Accommodation itself was lovely - comfy beds, lovely bedding and big towels. Plenty of pots / cutlery - the only thing missing was champagne flutes!!!
Would definitely stay again.
Leah, Newcastle
Date of stay: 9th February 2015
Goshawk Lodge was lovely- had everything you needed. It was cosy, well equipped and had beautiful views. We would definitely stay here again. The only downside was they had had to order a new part for the hot tub which meant it wasn't hot enough to go in on the first night which was a bit disappointing. Was great on the second night to relax in after a long walk and look at all the beautiful surroundings.
Ginni
Date of stay: 6th February 2015
Had a lovely stay at Heron Lodge. We have two large dogs and this lodge was most appropriate due to the space and the fact that its not wood/slippy floors throughout. The lodge was clean and really comfortable which added to our relaxing break away.
Lyndsay, Newcastle Upon Tyne
Date of stay: 2nd February 2015
Fantastic lodge which was spacious, modern and comfortable with everything you need for self catering! It was awesome having a hot tub on the decking overlooking the stream, made more magical with the snow falling one night and the clear starry night the next!
Will definitely be back next winter!!
Joanne, Durham
Date of stay: 2nd February 2015
The lodge was cold even though the heating was on 24/7. sitting inside on the evening you needed extra clothing or or blankets. The fire in the living room was decoration only. kitchen was lovely however there were very few utensils ie only 1 knife and 1 bread knife. also there was no cafetiere and other items which would have been useful.
Diane
Date of stay: 26th January 2015

Jo-anne, Hull
Date of stay: 3rd May 2014
It was lovely our only gripe was the outside was covered in cob webs and was quite dirty thats why we only scored 8 on cleanliness
Chris, Liverpool
Date of stay: 18th April 2014
Our party was 4 adults and a toddler and the lodge was more than big enough, could comfortably accommodate 6 adults. Great facilities including large fridge freezer and a dishwasher which was a nice surprise! Lodge is comfortable and has full gas Central heating which was great as the temp dropped of a night. Hot tub was nice and warm and checked each day by staff. Outdoor area was raised and overlooked a stream which was a nice feature, also fenced in so good for dogs/children. Overall very nice and highly recommend!
Stefanie, Todmorden West Yorkshire

unreal for a few couples to get away for a cheap weekend. cabin was lush inside and hottub was good. will defo go again in the summer
Cb, Chester Le Street
Date of stay: 21st February 2014
We were a group of 5 people and the lodge was great for us. The lodge is for six people and has ample room for them to sleep in very comfortable beds. However, the hot tub only appears to seat 5, as does the living room furniture (just an observation). Living room area contained a great tv as well as some games and DVDs, which the kids loved. Kitchen was fairly well equipped and dining furniture was beautiful and allowed everyone to be seated comfortably. We were a little disappointed by the cleanliness, especially when we moved the puffy to reveal the last occupant crisps! Really needs another bathroom/toilet but we believe that that's being worked on at the moment. Nothing spoiled our stay though, we had a great time!
Clare, Portsmouth
Date of stay: 21st February 2014
The accomadation was more than we could of wanted, modern and clean with plenty of room.
Jennifer, Livingston
Date of stay: 17th February 2014

Amie
Date of stay: 13th January 2014
This lodge was brilliant. Outdoor hot tub, which was great 2 relax in on an evening, even when there was snow and ice on the ground. The surroundings are gorgeous, so you can sit back, relax and look at the stars. The lodge is a good size. I would recommend the lodge to anyone wanting a great mini break!!
Glenda
Very warm welcome received, the most private cabin and hot tub we have been to, very well maintained hot tub.
Rachael
Gorgeous cabin and surroundings but had a baby with us and was hard going with the buggy. It was raining so we couldn’t use our carrier. Overall good.
Steve
Lovely lodge. Great surroundings. Nice owners. Only slight downside was that the beds were uncomfortable.
TLC
Fantastic lodge in a beautiful rural setting. Owners are so very helpful and friendly. We have stayed in this lodge five or six times now and despite thinking it is perfect every time we go back new tweaks have been made. Highly recommended.
Andrew
Excellent park, we stayed in the Heron Lodge and it was right next to the stream, very relaxing. Rooms were very clean and tidy and spacious enough for the 4 of us and our 2 dogs. We had a nice drive to Jedburgh (25 minutes) to stock up on supplies, it's also a nice drive to Kielder. We would definitely recommend this place.
Rachael
From arriving to leaving nothing was too much trouble for the staff of the park, the lodge was beautiful and spotlessly clean. They have thought of everything to make your holiday special even down to having a pair of binoculars in the lodge for the dark skies. Can’t recommend enough already booked to visit again
Robert
We had a great time here .We were in osprey lodge it's superb got everything you need,we had a peaceful week just the 2 of us chilling out ,first time with a hot tub loved it .no WiFi poor phone signal no grandkids it was bliss
Karen
lovely peaceful holiday with all the little touches of home
Lauren
Loved our stay, especially being in the hot tub while it snowed. The lodge was beautiful.
Fay
Love the lodge and location friendly people the lodge had everything we needed for our stay
Austin
Great people Simon and Cathy were wonder hosts and sympathetic when we found ourselves stuck on the site due to being snowed in. The forest and surroundings are stunning to walk. I would highly recommend.
Pauline
great place right next to river lovely lodges beautifully decorated warm and cosy .very nice staff
Kathryn
It was such a relaxing atmosphere relaxing in the hot tub as the snow was falling. The only reason I didn't give a 10/10 was because there was noise from the road but apart from that it was great!

Fun Days Out near Border Forest Lodges

about 11 Miles
Housing the most fascinating collection of Birds of Prey in the North East this centre is definitely worth a visit if you are staying in the Kielder Water area. Located in Falstone it's easy to get to and makes a great day out for both families and couples.  As well as seeing the amazing birds you can learn all about the captive breeding programme and the excellent work being done there.  Some of the highlights of the day might include watching a Falcon stoop down from the skies at over 100mph and admiring the grace of the Eagles, Kites and Hawks.
about 18 Miles
Cragside House and Gardens (National Trust) are a popular Northumberland attraction with a beautiful stately home and gorgeous grounds to explore. The rhododendron labyrinth is a unique and fun addition to the grounds and there is also an adventure playground where children can let of steam. It is the stunning scenery that attracts most of the visitors though with many bringing a picnic for a relaxing family day out. The house itself hosts exhibits which change regularly. World of the Water Wizard is currently on display.
about 24 Miles
Go Ape! has really taken off and become one of the most popular attractions in the UK.  The Northumberland course is set in the stunning grounds of Matfin Hall.  Described as a high wire forest adventure this really is one for the more daring as the course takes place right up in the tree tops.  Giant tree top obstacle courses include ladders, bridges, tunnels and some of the country's best zip lines.  You will be provided with all safety equipment and training on site.
about 26 Miles
Alnwick Castle and Gardens today are perhaps best known for their roles as Hogwarts in Harry Potter movies but have for many years been a family favourite attraction in Northumberland. The beautiful medieval castle is open to the public and during school holidays and at Christmas and Halloween a range of activities can be enjoyed including Santa's Workshop, a Pumpkin Parade, Spell Making Lessons and Owl and Bird of Prey Flying.
about 36 Miles
This is a museum and art gallery in one and will suit those looking for an educational and cultural day out.  You can explore the fantastic art collection including Fine Art, Decorative Art and Textiles.  If you love nature then this aspect of Tullie House will appeal. The museum holds large and important collections of zoological, botanical and geological material. And for lovers of history there is plenty to wet your appetite here. Tullie House collects a wide range of historic materials including objects, ephemera (printed material), photographs and associated information files.  We think this museum and art gallery are excellent value for money as well.
about 36 Miles
With easy access from the A1 this lovely farm just north of Berwick makes a fantastic family day out.  Follow the farm trail and meet an array of friendly farm animals.  Kids will also enjoy the indoor and outdoor play areas, pet barn and tractor circuit.  The admission fee is excellent value and you will get a free bag of food for the animals and a bag of fish food for the trouts in the fish pond. When you want a bite to eat, the licensed restaurant is the place to go with quality home cooking and a charming location in some of the converted farm buildings.
about 38 Miles
Kailzie Gardens are another popular attraction and are an excellent place for a day out in the summertime. The gardens are a peaceful and colourful place to spend the day with a wide variety of flora and fauna on display. Other attractions here include live viewing of the Tweed Valley ospreys, a Gift Shop where children can pick up a souvenir, a Tearoom serving tasty local produce and home cooked meals, a Children's Corner, Putting Green, and a gorgeous private 2½ mile stretch on the River Tweed where visitors can enjoy Fly Fishing and a Picnic Area.
