The site is set in glorious surroundings with panoramic mountain views, the perfect spot to unwind and relax on your Scottish retreat. You'll be just a short trip to a number of nearby restaurants and pubs, where you can sample delicious local food and drink. There are plenty of ancient castles in the area too - Balmoral Castle, the Scottish home of the Royal family, is a breath-taking building with acres of gardens and even a ballroom to explore!

The site is perfectly positioned for a day trip to the Cairngorms National Park, with natural wonders and countless rivers, mountains, lochs and forests to discover. There are plenty of shops and eateries to stop into, and even a few distilleries if you keep your eyes peeled!

Jackie - Jul 2020
"Great break in a lovely lodge. Everything we needed in the lodge and very clean and tidy."
Pamela - Jul 2020
"This was a lovely peaceful break away. Nice quiet location, out of town but only 30 mins from Aberdeen and all it has to offer.
The lodge itself was well stocked with everything we needed, even big pans (family of 6 used to having to take own pasta pan and supplies). The lodge itself was showing some signs of minor wear and tear but nothing substantial that would have put us off, it merely detracted from the "luxury" status. The same would apply to the strange do not use type of signs put on some of the switches to heating and bathroom fans. Surcharge was mentioned if we altered the heating setting too which was curious, we struggle to agree on a temperature of the house at home so how someone else can guess this for us is a mystery. I'd say heating is either free or it's not.
Overall though it was a nice experience and one I would repeat."
Michelle - Nov 2019
"Enjoyable holiday and well worth the money"
Ewen - Oct 2019
"Nice peaceful park. Lovely lodge."
Carol - Oct 2019
"Was very impressed . Lodge was very warm and we were not allowed to regulate the heating or charged would incur . So had to open windows and doors . One of the privately owned ajoining lodges had two large and very noisy dogs ."
Graeme - Sep 2019
"Have just booked whales with you in June

Terrie - Aug 2019
"Really nice comfy lodge to stay in with open plan kitchen dining room and lounge. Comfy sofas, wifi, balcony, microwave, washing machine etc.
Couldn't get DVD player to work but had brought own laptop to play on. Telly itself was good. Kitchen was great, needed sharper knives.
Beds were comfy, showers great.
Site was in countryside but local to Banchory with 2 supermarkets only 5-10min drive away. Good local walks in Banchory, castle crathes had fred adventure playground for national trust members."
Chris - Aug 2019
"After long hours of driving on Good Friday, it was good to be greeted by a welcoming owner who took us to our immaculate Lodge. Pleasant surprise to have facility for a barbecue and chairs to sit outside and enjoy the view. These, together with a clean hot tub made Easter Even more enjoyable. We all felt very relaxed by the end of our Stay and have all agreed to go back. Thank you"
Celeste - Apr 2019
"This is our 2nd stay here this year at Castlewood Lodges. We went again as a family with 2 children aged 6 and 10 and with our puppy. We stayed in a clochnaben lodge which is a large lodge with a hot tub. The balcony is perfect for letting the dog come and go from the indoor to the outdoor space safely. The lodge has bags of space and is very clean and comfortable and is equipped with everything you need. You get a some essentials in the lodge on your arrival like Tea, coffee, Milk, cereal, dishwasher tablets, washing up liquid, hand wash and 2 towels in each room which is fab. The owners are lovely and are very helpful. There scenery is gorgeous are there lovely walks nearby. Banchory is only a short 10mins drive away for shops, food etc. The local takeaway restaurants deliver to the park. Stonehaven beach is only 30mins drive away which is lovely and there is a huge play area there for children. Crathes Castle is only 15mins away from the park the grounds there are lovely too and it has a go ape and a play area for kids too, its great for walk with the dog. Will definitely go back to Castlewood its fab value for money and such a beautiful location. Thanks again guys for another fabulous weekend stay."

"Had the most amazing time at Castlewood Lodges after being wary about previous reviews. The lodge was lovely and very spacious. Had everything you need in it. Nice touch by leaving milk & cereals for your arrival. Staff couldn’t have been more friendly or helpful with advice on things to do offsite. Loads to do within a few miles of the site. Only downside is there is no park or something like this for the kids."

So much more than a garden centre this place is ideal for a fun family day out in Angus. The garden centre stocks a huge range of plants, outdoor furniture and gardening equipment and also has a café serving tasty home made meals, cakes and snacks. The site has a large outdoor play area for children an ornamental pond and country park to explore. Halloween and Bonfire night's events are coming up soon. The annual Fireworks Display is really spectacular.
