About Royal Arch Park

Royal Arch Riverside Park is a beautiful, new and exclusive holiday park on the doorstep of Royal Deeside and embraces the stunning views, wildlife and history of Scotland.

Nestled in the Southern Highlands of Scotland, this site boasts a beautiful collection of lodges and holiday homes which are perfect for a family break in a breathtakingly stunning area of the UK. The park really embraces the incredible rural Scotland backdrop, with each abode being framed by the mountain and countryside views.

There are some fantastic walks nearby, as well as coastal spots for a family beach day. After a day of fun exploring the Southern Highlands, the park is the perfect place to relax and unwind in your lodge, whether that’s in the comfortable living area, or outside for a soak in the hot tub.

Rolling greens and unspoiled open meadows surround the site, meaning there is a wonderfully idyllic atmosphere that will transport guests into their own slice of heaven. With plenty of walking routes, there is an adventure in nature around every corner. There is also a new play area for children, which will provide endless fun and excitement.

There are lakes on site, which you can take a relaxing stroll around on a warm day. The lakes are also well stocked with fish, so guests can try out some coarse fishing whilst staying here. For more adventurous holiday makers, the site offers water sports activities on the lakes, including paddle boarding and kayaking. This is a great way to try out a new sport with the children.

The Invercauld, Glamis and Dunnottar lodges all sleep four, making them perfect for a small family. Each lodge is designed with luxury in mind, with a spacious open plan living/dining/kitchen area. Invercauld is a new timber-clad lodge, which really captures a feeling of holiday indulgence. With the hot tub outside, and the comfortable living space, this abode is the epitome of relaxing in style.

Dunnottar is a holiday home style accommodation, and the living area is framed by the glass patio doors to allow plenty of light in. The bedrooms, a double and a twin, are generously spacious, as is the bathroom. There are also lodges available which sleep six, many of which also have an outdoor hot tub. Huntly, Craigiever, Hatton, and Braemar were all new for 2020, and these comfortable and elegant holiday homes really provide a home-from-home feel.

The furnishings are modern and stylish, yet comfortable. Each holiday home has a breath-taking view of the surrounding meadows, which is perfect to wake up to in the morning. Stuart is another six-person lodge, which has a cosy interior and rustic-feeling kitchen area. Relax in the outdoor hot tub in the evening after a day exploring the Scottish Highlands.

There are plenty of unforgettable locations nearby, which make for the perfect adventurous outing for the whole family. Dunnotter Castle is two miles away, and this imposing medieval fortress cover 3.5 acres of its own island area right over the sea. Walk through the ruins and feel immersed in Scottish history. Another historical site just over an hour’s drive away is Balmoral Castle, which is a baronial style mansion that has been incredibly well preserved.

Near the park is the village of Luthermuir, which is the ideal spot for a leisurely walk and a cake at Scots Corner. On a warm day, pack your bucket and spades and take a 15-minute drive to the beach at Montrose, where the golden sand stretches on for miles. If you’re visiting in the colder months, there is a fantastic skiing site at Glenshee Ski Centre.

Royal Arch Park Reviews

"The lodge was superb - spotless and comfy, with all we needed for a chilled weekend. Perfect spot and loved the hot tub, such a bonus!"
Sarah Montgomery - Jan 2025
"Super straightforward to book and check-in ourselves!"
Emma Carter - Jan 2025
"We had an amazing stay! The rooms were spotless and tastefully decorated, with super comfy beds. The location couldnt have been better. The staff were genuinely friendly and went out of their way to help us. Honestly, wed definitely stay here again. Highly recommend!"
Alex - Jan 2025
"We spent four nights at Royal Arch over Christmas and honestly, the lodge was stunning and spotless when we arrived. The host really made an effort with a lovely touch-two selection boxes under the Christmas tree, which was so thoughtful, especially knowing we had two kids with us. There was a vacuum provided, but the hose was broken and taped up - luckily, we brought our own, so it didnt cause any bother. Overall, a really nice stay and wed definitely come back!"
Emily Carter - Dec 2024
"Our Royal Arch Park review: We really enjoyed our stay! The beds were super comfy and made a big difference. The bathrooms looked great and were spotless, which is always appreciated. The kitchen had all the essentials, so no complaints there. The only minor thing was the sofa - you could feel the bed frame, but honestly, it didnt ruin the experience for us. Would stay again!"
Emma - Nov 2024
"We really enjoyed our stay at the lodge! It was super cosy and warm, perfect for relaxing. All the essentials for self-catering were there and the hot tub was a lovely touch. Beds could be comfier, but overall, a great spot!"
George - Nov 2024
"We recently stayed at Black Craig Lodge and honestly, it was a pretty good experience overall. The place was spotless, warm and had most of what we needed. The hot tub was a real highlight-absolutely loved it! That said, a few small things couldve made our stay even better. No welcome pack or brochure meant we had no idea about local spots or house details when we arrived, which was a bit of a letdown. The kitchen lacked basic bits like a dish towel and oven glove and only having two teaspoons meant we had to wash up more often than we'd like. Some minor issues like the sink tap starting to come loose, the bathroom fan cutting out and the fire lights not working were a bit annoying. Also, the beds could do with thicker mattress toppers for a better sleep. Despite these little hiccups, the lodge was lovely and wed definitely return!"
Emma - Oct 2024
"We had a lovely stay at the Dalgetie caravan for three nights. The place was spotless - honestly, it was so clean, we almost hesitated to let the kids run around! Outside, the views were stunning and the peaceful surroundings made it even better. We mostly relaxed in the hot tub, but also enjoyed a scenic walk. The kids loved the TV in the bath! Definitely planning to return someday. Would recommend for a relaxing getaway!"
Emma - Oct 2024
"We had an awesome 3-night stay at Fraser Lodge with the family. The hot tub was a hit with the girls and we loved the bath after long days. The dishwasher was a lifesaver and we enjoyed a fun Halloween trip to Brechin Castle Centre. Definitely coming back, thanks!"
Emma - Oct 2024
"We really enjoyed the visit! The guide was super friendly and knowledgeable. The decor was stunning and honestly, I cant get over how talented those old craftsmen were. Amazing stuff!"
Emma Carter - Oct 2024
"Good quality, worth it"
Emma - Oct 2024
"We had a lovely stay at Royal Arch. The caravan was really comfortable and well kitted out. The peaceful countryside setting was perfect, with plenty of lovely walks nearby. Highly recommend!"
Linda Harper - Sep 2024
"Wouldve appreciated clearer instructions on how to use everything, honestly. No coffee tables? Weird."
Oliver - Sep 2024
"We recently stayed at this lovely little park and honestly, it was quite charming. The lodge we booked, called Glenmore, was really cosy and had a lovely hot tub for us to enjoy privately, which was a real highlight. The park is beautifully maintained and the staff were genuinely friendly and helpful throughout our visit. The kitchen in the lodge was well-equipped, making it easy to prepare meals. However, we did notice some stains on the curtains and off-rails, which we hadnt seen at first and the TV reception was pretty patchy the whole time. We understand that its a rural spot, about a 10-minute drive to the nearest shop, so wed suggest stocking up beforehand. Sadly, theres no shop, bar, or other facilities on-site, which was a bit of a let-down. Wed definitely come back, but probably without our little one, since there aren't any kid-friendly activities or entertainment beyond the hot tub. Still, overall, a lovely stay!"
Emily - Sep 2024
"Really enjoyed our visit; the place was great and well return soon."
Adam - Aug 2024
"Really enjoyed our stay here"
Emma Clarke - Aug 2024
"The park is really lovely and super peaceful, perfect for kids to run around without us worrying too much. The owner was so friendly, even welcoming us personally and sharing some great tips on nearby spots. Lovely experience!"
Mark - Aug 2024
"We spent four lovely nights here and honestly, it was fantastic! The caravan's location at the fields edge was perfect. So nice!"
Emma Foster - Aug 2024
"Really enjoyed staying here, plenty of space and super comfy beds."
Sam - Jun 2024
"We decided to go for a last-minute getaway for my birthday and chose this place because of all the glowing reviews. Honestly, it sounded perfect! We arrived around 6 pm and I got a message with the code for the locked box where the key was kept-super handy. The cabin itself was lovely, looking brand new and spotless, which we really appreciated. There was plenty of cutlery and everything we needed in the kitchen area. The towels were a bit tiny, but we managed and we eventually found them. The en-suite bath was a nice touch, along with the shower over it-really comfy. The main bathroom had a proper shower cubicle and there was loads of storage space in the cupboards, so no complaints there. Sadly, there was no hairdryer, iron, or ironing board, which was a bit of a pain, but we made do. The hoover was tucked away in a small cupboard and there was no brush or dustpan, which was a bit odd. The hot tub was behind the cabin, not on the decking, which I found a bit strange at first. To use it, you had to go out your door, down the steps, over gravel and past everyone sitting nearby-so we bought robes and slippers from the supermarket for privacy. Once in, it felt really secluded thanks to a tiny wooden fence. There was a small patio table with some chairs, perfect for relaxing. The area was peaceful-no pubs or shops close by, just pure quiet. The only thing missing was a welcome pack or any info about the cabin, like who to call if something went wrong, or where the bins were. No wifi either, so no internet, which was actually quite nice for a break. Wed definitely come back if we wanted a peaceful escape from everything. Its ideal for some proper chill time!"
Emily - Mar 2024
"We really enjoyed our stay! The cabin was spotless, spacious and the hot tub was just perfect."
Emma Carter - Mar 2024
"We stayed at the lodge recently and honestly, it was a lovely spot. The heating kicked in quickly, which was a relief and everything was spotless. The hot tub was ready when we arrived - such a bonus! My only tiny gripe is that it wouldve been better if there was paving leading to the hot tub, since walking on the grass or stones in bare feet isnt ideal. The views were stunning, really peaceful and exactly what we needed. Were already planning our next visit!"
Jess - Feb 2024
"Really enjoyed our stay! The lodge was spotless and had everything we needed, including towels. The hot tub was definitely a highlight. Would come back for sure!"
Emma Carter - Feb 2024
"We stayed at this lovely 5-star lodge and honestly, it was such a great experience. The place was spotless, super comfy and had everything we needed for a proper relaxing break. The hot tub was a real bonus too!"
Alexandra - Feb 2024
"We recently stayed at this lodge and honestly, it was pretty decent for the price we paid. The place was spotless, which we really appreciated. That said, there were a few little things that made our stay a bit more complicated than it needed to be. For starters, there was no mat at the front door to wipe our boots on and with all the snow outside, we couldnt leave our shoes outside without getting snow all over the floor. So, we ended up constantly grabbing kitchen roll to mop up the melted snow-bit of a hassle! Even without the snow, having a doormat wouldve been handy, especially with all the woodland and nature nearby. Another thing was the lack of basic kitchen supplies like tea towels, cleaning cloths, or kitchen roll. We had to make an extra trip to the shop just to get those essentials, which was a bit frustrating. Its not a huge deal, but it wouldve been nice if theyd been provided. Luckily, the kitchen was well-equipped with cooking facilities, but again, no tea towels or oven mitts were included. We had to buy a mitt ourselves because, honestly, Ive never stayed anywhere before where oven mitts werent supplied! The chopping boards were a decent touch-colour-coded for meat and fish-yet there was only one chopping knife. Usually, that wouldnt be a problem, but since there was no washing-up liquid provided and the dishwashers shortest cycle was about 2-3 hours, it made cleaning up a bit of a pain. Just little inconveniences, but they do add up. Also, the remote controls only had one set of batteries and the rest were dead, so we had to swap batteries around to get everything working. Nothing major, just another small hassle. We did book the Leslie lodge, but it was changed to the Stuart without us being told why. It was still a nice place, but it did feel a bit strange not knowing what was going on. Despite these minor issues, we wouldnt rule out coming back. When we did have a problem with the hot tub, they sorted it out quickly and efficiently, which was great. Overall, its a decent place with some room for improvement, but nothing that would stop us from returning."
Emma Roberts - Jan 2024
"We had a lovely stay in a beautiful lodge overlooking stunning countryside. At this time, the park is smaller and quieter which was perfect for us, however there are plans to extend the park and include a restaurant. I would certainly recommend this place fir a quiet retreat."
Karen - Aug 2022
"Lovely place enjoyed every minute there"
Derek - Jul 2022

"Lovely clean cabin. Great base to travel around the area. Quiet and peaceful. Cabin had everything you could need for cooking or the local Ramsey Arms food is amazing if you don't want to cook."

"A nice quiet location with places to visit, Grampian Mountains are close by, exactly what we were looking for."
Carl - Jun 2022
"Excellent weekend break with the family, would highly recommend."
John - Jun 2022
"What a great find! Beautiful park in a gorgeous location. Quiet and relaxing. Lodge was spotlessly clean..and I mean spotless! Hot tub was fantastic! Will definitely be back and the plans they have for a restaurant/shops etc looks amazing!! Beds were so comfy! My only critique would have been 1 rooms bedding, purely the aesthetic side, didn't match and looked a little out of place/wrinkly but did not make a difference to our holiday at all. A few little wallpaper tears under Windows but again, purely aesthetic. We can't wait to go back!"
Fiona - May 2022
"Fab holiday nice just to chill out"
Sarah - May 2022
"The holiday park is not yet finished but it was lovely and peaceful surrounded by fields"
Graham - May 2022
"A great escape away from it all."
Kenneth - May 2022
"Great wee caravan for a get away with family or friends! Really spacious and has all amenties. 20 minutes to stonehaven so we visited dunnoter castle and then we also went to st cyrus, if you are looking for a chilled weekend then this is the perfect place. In the middle of the country side so not a lot to do! But still really enjoyed our stay :)"

So much more than a garden centre this place is ideal for a fun family day out in Angus. The garden centre stocks a huge range of plants, outdoor furniture and gardening equipment and also has a café serving tasty home made meals, cakes and snacks. The site has a large outdoor play area for children an ornamental pond and country park to explore. Halloween and Bonfire night's events are coming up soon. The annual Fireworks Display is really spectacular.
