Golden Gate Reviews

"We loved the caravan's size-really spacious and comfy, though a few bits looked a bit worn. When the electric went out one night, we called emergency support and they arrived super quick. Big thumbs up to Golden Gate!"
Emma Roberts - Nov 2024
"The caravan was fairly tidy, though a bit worn out. The internet was decent, but did drop a few times during the evenings. Overall, not bad at all."
Emma Carter - Oct 2024
"We had a lovely stay at Golden Gate, but the Signature range was a bit underwhelming. We expected more than just the basics, especially since there were no towels, the bedding needs an upgrade and the kitchen utensils were quite limited. Still, enjoyed our time overall."
Rachel Turner - Sep 2024
"Really enjoyed our stay, already booked for next year!"
Simon - Aug 2024
"Our Golden Gate review: Honestly, we were pretty disappointed with our experience. The place was filthy, with bits of wood missing and rough installation of vents. The shower kept leaking and the bed springs were poking through. Plus, all the pots and pans had dried food caked on. Definitely not what we expected!"
Emma - Jul 2024
"Comfortable enough, but the fabric's a bit old."
Emma Carter - Jun 2024
"Really enjoyed it overall, just a shame about the weather!"
Alex - May 2024
"We stayed in this caravan recently and honestly, the highlight was definitely the hot tub - it was such a nice touch! The beds were really comfy and overall, the van was kept clean, which was great. Sadly, the vacuum cleaner didnt work and the brush was missing from the dustpan and brush set, which was a bit of a pain. We also had to buy extra teaspoons and glasses because there werent enough for everyone in our party. The site itself, though, was a bit disappointing. The clubhouse was quite filthy, especially the carpet in the tiny kids play area. The pool was tiny and the shop was so small you could barely get in without bumping into someone. The kids area was chaotic, with kids running around and swearing, which wasnt ideal. The place felt a bit cliquey and finding a free table was tricky. On the plus side, the door staff, bar staff and pool staff were friendly - just a shame about the rest."
Olivia Carter - Nov 2023
"We booked the Silver Standard caravan at Golden Gate but ended up getting upgraded to a Platinum one at their sister site, White House, because the previous guests really trashed the original. Honestly, it was a nice surprise! We could enjoy the pools at both locations and found the staff to be friendly and helpful throughout. No problems at all and the free upgrade made our stay even better. Definitely a positive experience overall!"
Emma - Nov 2023
"Good vibe, would recommend"
Emma - Aug 2020
"Looking forward to returning next year already!"
Emily - Aug 2019
"We had a great stay! The kids absolutely loved the entertainment and all the activities included. Highly recommend!"
Sarah - Aug 2019
"Great stay, very clean and comfortable caravan indeed!"
James - Jan 1970
"We had a really enjoyable stay and the kids absolutely loved the entertainment and all the activities around it."
Emma - Jan 1970
"Really enjoyed it, planning to return soon!"
Emma - Jan 1970
"Really enjoyed the trip, thanks!"
Mark - Jan 1970
"We spent a week here and honestly, we had a really lovely time. The caravan was spotless and the mattresses were surprisingly comfy - like proper home ones! Sadly, the club was shut because of lockdown, so we couldnt check that out, but no big deal. The location was perfect for exploring and the drinks werent overpriced at all. All in all, a pretty great find and wed come back."
Emma - Jan 1970
"We had a great stay! The caravan was spotless and plenty spacious enough for us to shower and rest after busy days exploring nearby places. We didnt bother with the onsite facilities, as we were just too busy enjoying ourselves. Very pleased with the trip!"
Emma - Jan 1970
"Were a big family of seven with kids and grandparents - this place really ticked all the boxes for everyone. Absolutely loved it and were coming back soon!"
Emma - Jan 1970
"The caravan was just right for our stay, good value and the pool was spotless. Staff really friendly too. Well be back for sure!"
Jamie - Jan 1970
"We really enjoyed staying here. The cottage's peaceful spot was perfect for us, away from busy areas. The hot tub was a lovely bonus. Owners were super helpful without being intrusive. Theyve got it just right!"
Oliver - May 2025
"We had a fantastic stay at this cosy cottage! The place is really well looked after and has everything you need. Our dog loved the nearby walks and meeting the farm animals, especially Penelope the pig, was a real highlight. The host was super friendly and quick to reply. Well definitely return-such good value! Highly recommend."
Emma - May 2025
"We had a wonderful stay! The place was spotless, super comfy and the hot tub was fantastic!"
Emma - May 2025
"We stayed at this lovely cottage recently and honestly, the owners were so warm and welcoming. They couldnt do enough for us, which made our stay even better. The place itself is adorable-beautifully kept with a charming half-timbered look-and the shower was surprisingly powerful. The cosy kitchen and comfy bed made it feel like a home away from home. Plus, parking right outside was super convenient and exploring nearby Thaxted was a real treat. Wed definitely come back!"
Oliver - May 2025
"We had a really lovely stay! Sharon and Robert were such friendly hosts, making us feel right at home from the moment we arrived. The place was spotless, comfy and perfect for our dog Archie-felt safe and secure. The location was spot on, with lots of nice walks around and charming villages like Thaxted nearby. Honestly, we left feeling totally refreshed and ready to take on everything again. Great break!"
Rachel - May 2025
"We recently spent a week here from 15 to 22 July with our two tiny dachshund girls and they had a blast making friends in the charming village of Thaxted. The cottage itself is really lovely, especially the hot tub - perfect for the scorching weather, as the water was nicely cooled and super refreshing. The hosts were genuinely warm and welcoming and it was lovely to see their dogs being taken out to the fields daily. Being on the flight path near Stansted was actually quite fun - we enjoyed watching the planes come in! Would definitely recommend for a relaxing getaway."
Emma - May 2025
"Really enjoyed our stay, the place was so calm and perfect for our pup to run around freely. Definitely recommend!"
Emma - May 2025
"We had such a great time! The cottage was spotless, had everything we needed, plus some nice little touches. Definitely recommend it to others."
Emma - May 2025
"Clean site, didn't use many of the facilities so based my rating upon the choice of facilities that were available. Another bin area would be useful as it was a fair trek to the bins, other than that it was a clean, quiet site, well maintained and would be happy to visit again."
Anthony - Jul 2022
"Lovely place to go for hoilday no coplaints."
Phyllis - Jul 2022
"Very nice for a little get away with young children!"
Victoria - Jul 2022
"Well worth the money we paid, only 1 thing wrong was we got charged £10 for use off the pool, Even though our paperwork said it was completely... Must add not enough pillows for each bed."
Barry - Jul 2022
"Me and my children (young baby and toddler) absolutely loved it! Great value for money the site facilities and staff were so friendly and helpful and the caravan was lovely and clean and looked brand new! Definitely recommend and will be coming back"
Emily - Jul 2022
"Want to go back"
