Penvale Lakes Lodges Reviews

"We stayed in the Birch 8 berth lodge and honestly, it was so spacious with stunning views through those big windows. The kitchen was fully stocked, which was great, though some cushions might really make it feel cosier inside. The decking could do with a bit of a refresh, but that doesnt spoil the stay. The hot tub was massive and kept the temperature perfectly, which was a huge plus. Wed definitely return to Penvelle for the scenery and location-really lovely!"
Emily - Mar 2025
"We had a fantastic time with friends! The lodge was comfy and had everything we needed, though a bit worn in places. The hot tub was definitely a highlight-super clean and relaxing."
Emma Carter - Mar 2025
"Weve been coming here for three years now and its just lovely. The staff really go out of their way to help. Cant wait to return!"
Emma - Dec 2024
"At first, we were a bit unsure after reading some reviews, but honestly, our stay was fantastic. The lodge was spotless, with super comfy beds and pillows-everything we could ask for. The location was stunning and the hot tub was waiting for us when we arrived. We had such a relaxing weekend and cant wait to come back!"
Emma Carter - Nov 2024
"Our Penvale Lakes Lodges review: We loved how spotless and peaceful the place was. Waking up and sitting outside in the morning was just perfect!"
Emma - Oct 2024
"We had a lovely time in a stunning spot and definitely plan to come back. That said, the site could do with some TLC-our log burner was broken, the deckings looking a bit rough and the gutters need a good clean, honestly. Still, we enjoyed it!"
Emma - Oct 2024
"The heater did the job fine, even without the log burner working. We didn't really miss it."
Emma Carter - Sep 2024
"Staff were friendly, felt really at home here."
James - Aug 2024
"The hot tub is fantastic and the garden in front is perfect for relaxing. Loved the BBQ and appliances!"
EmilyJ - Aug 2024
"The lodge was stunning, with high ceilings that made the space feel airy. Everything you could need was there. Truly a home away from home!"
Emma Carter - Aug 2024
"We had a lovely stay from Monday to Friday. The site is so peaceful and relaxing. Feeding the ducks and squirrels daily was a real treat and we loved spotting the heron! Quite charming."
Emma Carter - Jun 2024
"We booked the lodge for my partners birthday and honestly, it turned out to be one of the best weekends we've had in ages. Everything was spotless and well-maintained, which we really appreciated. The hot tub was nicely screened off, giving us plenty of privacy and the distance between lodges meant we could relax without feeling crowded. We even had a BBQ in the rain-why not, right? The place was so peaceful and quiet, exactly what we needed. Wildlife was everywhere - squirrels in the mornings and a Robin even sneaked into the lodge! Were already planning our next trip."
Emma Roberts - Mar 2024
"We enjoyed our stay overall, but the cottage did feel a bit worn out in spots. The mould around the windows and bathrooms was a bit off-putting and it could really do with a fresh coat of paint. Still, lovely vibe!"
Emma Carter - Feb 2024
"We stayed at Lodge 9, which was lovely and dog friendly. The hot tub was definitely a highlight and the pool was fun for the kids, even if it didnt feel super clean. The location itself was really beautiful, perfect for a peaceful getaway. That said, the kitchen supplies were quite sparse - only enough for one piece of equipment each, like plates and cutlery. It couldve used some extra pans and utensils. The decor was a bit tired and could do with a fresh coat of paint, but overall, we enjoyed our stay and the place was clean."
Emma Thompson - Feb 2024
"Weve visited Penvale Lakes several times over the last decade and always enjoy the peaceful vibe. The lodges are really spacious and well-equipped, though a bit of a refresh for the sofas and some kitchen bits like cutlery and glasses would be great. Still, well definitely be back!"
Emma Carter - Feb 2024
"Really enjoyed our stay, the lodges and cottage were lovely!"
Emma Parker - Feb 2024
"We had such a lovely anniversary weekend! The lodge itself was absolutely gorgeous, with stunning views that made everything feel so special. Even though it was quite chilly outside, the lodge stayed warm and cosy and the hot tub was always spotless and ready to go each morning - a real treat. The swimming pool was fantastic and what we loved most was being able to book private slots for our lodge, which was perfect for our little getaway. Parking was hassle-free and the lodge was thoughtfully designed to be disabled friendly, which we appreciated. The staff went above and beyond - super helpful, friendly and just genuinely lovely. Honestly, were already planning to come back, probably in the summer this time! It was truly an anniversary to remember and the whole stay was one of our best trips ever."
Jamie - Jan 2024
"Really enjoyed our stay here! The location was perfect and the facilities like the hot tub and pool made it even better. Would definitely come back."
Claire - Jan 2024
"The lodge was really spacious and peaceful, perfect for relaxing weekends."
Emma - Jan 2024
"The log burner wasn't working, but everything else was spot on. Thanks!"
Emma - Jan 2024
"We stayed at this lodge just before Christmas and honestly, it was a bit of a letdown. Before we even arrived, we got an email saying the log burner wasnt working, which was a shame, but we still wanted to go. When we got there, the front door was hanging off its plate and the main light in the living room didnt work at all. When we looked closer, we saw there was insulation tape on the fitting-like someone had tried to patch it up rather than fix it properly. After we unpacked, the kitchen cupboard plinth fell off, which was annoying. Midway through our stay, the hot tub heater broke and despite calling reception, they couldnt fix it, so we had to fill it with hot water for the last few days. The paintwork was tired and grimy and the floors in the wet areas had gaps that really needed re-grouting. The bathrooms were also in need of re-siliconing. The staff did come and fix the door plate, but overall, we left feeling pretty disappointed. We did get a 30% refund, but honestly, we wont be returning unless they do a serious refurbishment. Not quite what we expected!"
Emily - Jan 2024
"The team really do go above and beyond! Friendly and helpful staff made our visit enjoyable. We're already planning to return next year. Big thanks to the lovely girl whos there every time!"
Emma Carter - Dec 2023
"Really enjoyed the experience"
Emma - Nov 2023
"Really enjoyed our stay, it was relaxing, fun and wed definitely return, maybe even in winter!"
Emma - Aug 2020
"We stayed at the lodge recently and really enjoyed it. The space was perfect for our family and the new kitchen was a real plus. The only minor thing was some of the chairs looking a bit worn out. Still, overall, a great place for a family of five, especially with teenagers! Wed definitely come back."
Emma - Aug 2020
"We really enjoyed our stay! The place was spotless, spacious and super comfy. It had all we needed for a relaxing break. Only downside was the decking, which was a bit worn out and could do with fixing soon."
Emma Carter - Aug 2020
"Great atmosphere, cosy and peaceful stay."
Emma - Aug 2020
"Really enjoyed our stay, would definitely come back."
Sam - Jul 2020
"We had a fantastic stay at this lodge! Plenty of space and all the amenities you could ask for. The hot tub was a real highlight, big enough for six and the surroundings were absolutely stunning for unwinding."

"One of the best holidays we have had! Quite position - just the babbling brook! Lovely fishing, swimming and jacuzzi. Staff very friendly and helpful."
Leah - Jul 2022
"Beautiful and relaxing. Just what was needed."
Julie - Jul 2022
"Great lodge with a hot tub in beautiful surroundings. We had amazing weather and the kids really enjoyed using the outdoor pool (which is covered when the weather isn’t so good). It took about an hour to walk to Llangollen which is a lovely little town. Lots of lovely walks along the canal, the river or through the countryside. It’s a shame that there isn’t a bar or restaurant on-site. There are 2 pubs nearby (not open every day) and a bar/restaurant at the nearby campsite though."
Louise - Jul 2022
"Stunning setting, peaceful & relaxing. We went as a group of 8 to celebrate a 50th birthday, the lodge was everything we wanted, spacious living & kitchen area, which was well equipped, and we made the most of the bbq & hot tub! Bit of a walk into Llangollen and no pavement on busy stretch of road"
Carolyn - Jun 2022
