Willows Retreat Reviews

Harriet - Sep 2024
The location is stunning, right by the lakeand the setting really is beautiful. We loved the peaceful atmosphere and the views, which definitely drew us in. Unfortunately, the lodges didn't quite live up to the 'luxury' promise. The place looked quite tired, with dirty windows and curtains that needed a good wash. The hot tub area was also a bit neglected and didn't feel very inviting. We were pretty disappointed overall, as we'd expected a bit more care and attention. Still, the scenery was lovely!
Alex - Sep 2024
We had a lovely week at Waterways Farm, the accommodation was modern and super comfyand the scenery is really pretty. The walks nearby are a real highlight, perfect for a relaxing stroll. Fishing was decent, mainly small carp, so don't expect any personal bests. The only real downside was the barking from the kennels-pretty loud and constant, which got a bit frustrating after a while. Still, overall, a nice place to unwind, just bring earplugs if noise bothers you!
Emily Carter - Jun 2024
We had an amazing stay at Willows Retreat! The lodge is super well equipped and the setting is absolutely gorgeous. The hot tub was a lovely bonus after a day out. The owner was really friendly and helpful too. If you enjoy fishing, this place is perfect. Honestly, we'd definitely stay again-highly recommended!
Oliver Smith - May 2024
We really enjoyed our time at Willows Retreat. The place was spotlessly clean and modern, just what we needed. The lake was perfect for fishingand the peaceful location made for a relaxing break. Sure, we could hear the dogs sometimes, but it didn't spoil the vibe. The hot tub was a highlight-used it every day, even in the rain! The walk into the village was easy, with dog-friendly pubs, good foodand local shops like the co-op, fish and chipsand Chinese takeaway. We'll be back for sure!
Emily - Apr 2024
We really enjoyed our stay at this cosy cabin in such a peaceful spot, with fishing right outside the door - perfect for relaxing! The beds were incredibly comfyand the host kept us well-informed before arrival, which was helpful. However, despite the listing claiming to be pet-friendly, it wasn't ideal for dogs - keeping ours off the sofa and out of the bedrooms was a bit stressful. Also, no Wi-Fi was a surprise, so be prepared for that rural vibe. Overall, a lovely retreat, just with a few quirks!
Sarah - Mar 2024
We enjoyed our stay in Norfolk, the location was lovely. The place could do with a bit of updating to match the cost, but the bed was really comfy! Would stay again.
Ella - Mar 2024
We had a great stay! The house was lovely and cosyand our dog loved exploring Breckland Woods nearby - just a short drive awayand truly beautiful!
Mark - Jan 2024
Great spot, would definitely stay again!
Emma - Jan 2024
We've visited Willows Retreat twice now and honestly, we're already planning our next trip! The setting is just perfect - super peaceful with breathtaking views over the lake. The place itself is warm, cosyand has everything we need for a relaxing stay. It's only about 5 or 10 minutes on foot to the village, where there's a nice fish n chip shop, Chinese takeaway, a couple of pubsand a co-op. We had a lovely meal at the Nags Head too. There's plenty to do nearby or you can just kick back and enjoy the hot tub - we made the most of it! Can't wait to come back next year!
James - Jan 2024
Really enjoyed our stay, the lodge was spotless and the jacuzzi was a lovely added touch!
Jamie - Nov 2023
The Willows Retreat was fantastic! The area around the cabin is perfect for walks, safe for our dog and us. We had a brilliant time and are already planning to return next year. Highly recommended!
Sam - Sep 2023
A rear gate to reach the picnic spot would really help when walking the dog or heading to the river. Also, some Wi-Fi would be a nice touch! Would stay again though.
Emma S. - Aug 2023
We loved the spot, such a peaceful place to stay. The lodge was perfect and in a great location. It was easy to relax, especially with the lovely walks nearby. Walking into the village was handy-everything you need, like shops and pubs, was right there!

Banham Zoo - NR16 2HE

This award winning wildlife attraction has much to offer both families and couples looking for a fun and educational day out.  You can discover a whole wild world of animals with over 1000 different animals from around the world. You will probably want to try and spend the whole day here so you don's miss out on anything.  Highlights include the amazing animals presentation, the birds of prey display and the feeding talks, all of which take place at set times of the day.  This attraction is fantastic value for money and highly recommended.  Their latest event is the Snow Leopard Club Naming Auction and there has recently been a baby giraffe born at the zoo.
Melsop Farm Park - NR20 3DT
about 5 Miles
We love this attraction in Scoulton, Norfolk with a great collection of animals.  Children and adults alike have the chance to get hands on with the animals in the special handling areas.  On rainy days there is always the indoor play area for the little ones and when it's time for a bite to eat the cafe on the farm is open all day selling drinks and snacks.  Hot food is available over lunch times.
Dinosaur Adventure Park - NR9 5JW
about 17 Miles
This fun family day out has been well planned and we think is certainly worth a visit.  New for 2010 is the PrimEvil at Dinosaur Adventure.  Other fun activities include the Dinosaur Trail, Arachnophobia, the Raptor Races and the adventure play area.  The secret animal garden is also popular.  You can play a role in wildlife conservation and sponsor an animal if you wish.  At the moment if you sign up for their newsletter there is a chance to win a family ticket.
Ickworth House, Park & Gardens - IP29 5QE

The National Trust Ickworth House, Park & Gardens is a Beautiful 1800 acre country estate with many attractions including a fantastic adventure playground for the children and a range of nature trails which the whole family will enjoy. The site also has a family friendly cycle route a gift shop and a small café
Suffolk Owl Sanctuary - IP28 6HX
about 22 Miles
This amazing owl sanctuary located in the Stowmarket area of Suffolk should be high on your list of places to visit in the area.  The attraction is also a registered charity and carries out important work in the care & rehabilitation of owls from the region.  The sanctuary also raises awareness of owl conservation throughout the UK.  Between April and the end of September there are two superb flying displays each day so you should try and make your visit coincide with one of these displays if you can.
Pensthorpe Nature Reserve & Gardens - NR21 0LN
about 23 Miles
if you and your family are interested in nature and wildlife then Pensthorpe Nature Reserve & Gardens is the perfect place for a day out. This beautiful area of national parkland is home to a huge range of common and rare birds from sparrows to Red Crowned Cranes and also has a red squirrel enclosure - part of a conservation programme and now home to a family of adorable squirrels. Other activities to enjoy at Pensthorpe include pond dipping and Landrover discovery tours. Pensthorpe also played host to BBC'S Springwatch in 2010.
Bewilderwood - NR12 8JW
about 26 Miles
Bewilderwood is a fun day out for the whole family located in the Wroxham area of Norfolk.  This imaginative adventure park has won awards and we think kids especially will love the characters and the magical tree houses. You can even book your ticket online and beat the queues by visiting their website where you can also view video clips of the park. This place is also the setting for the book 'A Boggle at BeWILDerwood', by local children's author Tom Blofeld.  Parents are not left out either as you're encouraged to take part and play alongside your children.
National Horse Racing Museum - CB8 8JL
about 27 Miles
This is a museum with a difference and a must see if you are into horse racing.  You can take guided tours around the museum or choose to wander round yourself admiring the exhibits.  New for 2010 is a Junior Fun Tour which is ideal for children.  Simply ask the gallery staff for a Fun Tour pack when you enter the museum and kids can answer questions and spot clues and tips on the way round.  One of the most popular recent exhibitions is the Thoroughbred: State of the Art exhibition in Gallery 5 on until 31st October.  Check out their websites for the latest exhibitions.
Africa Alive - NR33 7TF
about 32 Miles
Africa Alive is one of Suffolk's largest attractions and one of the most popular in the whole of the UK.  The Africa themed park is very unique and gives visitors the chance to see some amazing creatures in a habitat which is as close to nature as possible. The park can be explored by car and on foot and Hyenas and Giraffes are just some of the animals you will encounter as you make your way around the park. Watch out for the lightning fast Cheetahs and keep your eyes peeled to spot the more reclusive creatures. During a day at Africa Alive there will be plenty of shows and educational talks taking place and if the weather turns then the indoor Adventure Play Ground comes in very handy. The site also has a well stocked Gift Shop and a Discovery Centre.
Sheringham Park - NR26 8TL
about 32 Miles
The National Trust Sheringham Park in Norfolk was designed by Humphry Repton and the book of original designs can still be seen. The park has many attractions including a viewing tower and a gazebo with amazing coastal views, wildlife trails which young children will love and an exhibition barn where visitors can learn the history of the park.
Bishops Boats Seal Trips - NR23 1RY
about 32 Miles
This is a really unique attraction running daily seal watching trips from the middle of March right through to the end of October.  The experienced skippers will lead you out on one of the traditional wooden boats where you will have the chance to see both common and grey seals.  If you love animals then this is one attraction not to be missed! They also do some boat trips combined with guides on dry land such as seal watching combined with a visit to Blakeney Point Nature Reserve, owned by the National Trust.  We think this attraction is excellent value for money as they keep their admission prices low.
Pleasurewood Hills Theme Park - NR32 4TZ
about 33 Miles
Pleasurewood Hills Theme Park is an amazing 50 acres area of stunning coastal parkland and is packed with family friendly rides and attractions. This park is an excellent choice for families with children of varied ages as there are a number of small rides for the little ones as well as some adrenaline boosting white knuckle rides for teenagers. As well as rides the site hosts some fantastic shows including the ever popular Sea Lion and Parrot encounters. At Halloween, Christmas and Easter other themed shows can also be enjoyed.  The site also has a good range of places to eat and drink whether you are looking to spend a leisurely hour relaxing with a meal or just grab a quick snack.
