Rudyard Lake Lodges Reviews

"Great space, very tidy and lovely."
Emma Carter - Feb 2025
"Really charming overall, just a few bits need fixing."
Emma - Dec 2024
"Honestly, we had a really nice time at the lodge. The location is fantastic, especially if youve got a dog - we found a lovely new walk right from the door every day. Its also pretty handy for trips to Alton Towers, just half an hour away and Bakewell and Buxton are about 45 minutes. Do watch out for the muddy road if the weathers been wet - it can get a bit slippy. There are plenty of cafes and a pub nearby, so no shortage of places to grab a bite. We also appreciated the enclosed garden for our dogs safety. The lodge has loads of potential, but some things could do with a bit of TLC, like the sofas, crockery and bathrooms. But other bits, like the hot tub, TV and Wi-Fi, were really modern and worked well. Overall, a lovely peaceful stay!"
Emma - Sep 2024
"Great overall experience"
Emma Carter - Sep 2024
"Our Rudyard Lake Lodges review: We had a lovely stay! The lodge was spotless and well-kept, with plenty of amenities. The hot tub was a real highlight and sitting outside listening to the birds was so relaxing."
Emily - Jun 2024
"We had a really lovely stay at this lodge, set in such a peaceful spot. Watching all the different birds flock to the feeder was a real treat for us. The place was spotless and the kitchen had everything we could possibly need - it felt very homely. We also appreciated the three towels per person and the hand towels in each shower. My only tiny gripe is that in-shower non-slip mats wouldve been a good idea, especially since one of us is 86. But all in all, a great place to unwind!"
Harper - Apr 2024
"We had a lovely stay overall. The bed was super comfy and we slept really well. A few dishes were a bit sticky, but nothing major since the dishwasher and tablets worked perfectly. Maybe a quick check for future guests could help, but no big deal really."
Emma Carter - Mar 2024
"We had such a lovely weekend at Heronsview recently, its our second visit and weve already booked for next February. The lodge really does feel like a cosy, authentic Norwegian retreat, perfect for winter stays. The new hot tub is a real highlight - it comfortably fits six and the music and lighting add a special touch. The fairy lights that turn on after dark create such a nice atmosphere, we really loved that. Although the lodge is dog-friendly, we decided not to bring ours this time, but the garden is big and secure, ideal for small or medium dogs. Theres also a pretty meadow right outside that our two dogs will enjoy next time. Matt and Mark, the owners, are so welcoming and always happy to help - theyre easy to get hold of if you need anything. Overall, we had a fantastic family weekend and are already looking forward to coming back!"
Jessie - Mar 2024
"We had such a great time at Meadow View Lodge! The place was super tidy and had everything we needed for a fun girls' weekend. The hot tub was perfect and those little touches like sweets, biscuits and wine made it even more special. Cant wait to come back next year!"
Emma - Nov 2023
"Really enjoyed the stay, felt welcomed with thoughtful little touches throughout the place. Will return!"
James - Nov 2023
"Weve stayed here three times now and its always a pleasure. The lodge is cosy and well-equipped and the hot tub is just the cherry on top. Plus, its a lovely walk to Rudyard Lake. Weve also enjoyed trips to Alton Towers and Drayton Manor - such good days out!"
Emma - Jul 2023
"We loved the peaceful vibe and stunning scenery. Plenty for the whole family and our dog was totally at home."
Emma - Aug 2020
"The presentation was spot on and Shelleys help was just right-not intrusive at all. Honestly, dont see any need for changes, all good!"
Emily - Mar 2020
"Great spot, always a good vibe, totally recommend it!"
Sarah - Dec 2019
"Great spot, definitely coming back soon!"
Emily - Nov 2019
"We've visited this place twice now and honestly, its really quite lovely. The fact that they have a big field is a massive bonus for us since our dog loves running around and fetching his ball. Its a perfect spot if you want to escape the hustle and just relax for a bit. The WiFi works well up here, which is always handy. Plus, a short stroll takes you down to Rudyard Lake - such a peaceful spot! Theres also a shop on-site and weve even ordered takeaway in Leek to be delivered right to the lodges. Well definitely be back!"
Emma - Nov 2019
"We had such a lovely time, cant wait to come back again soon!"
Emma - Sep 2019
"Really enjoyed the experience, definitely planning to return soon!"
Emma - Sep 2019
"Really enjoyed our stay, especially as the more of us there, the better value it was!"
James - Aug 2019
"Weve stayed at Watersview before, so we knew the site was lovely, which helped set our expectations. Since there arent any photos online, we took a bit of a gamble with Watersview, especially after reading some reviews saying it needed updating. Luckily, we were quite pleased with what we found - it was fine for us. The lodges have a cosy feel with lots of wood and the modern bathrooms and kitchens are a plus. A few things to note: no wifi, the indoor fire was broken and the extractor fan above the hob wasnt working. The decking could do with a fresh stain. Oh and bring a hairdryer and extra towels if youre using the hot tub - just a heads up!"
Emma - Jul 2019
"Great experience, definitely repeat"
Claire - Apr 2019
"They truly care about the details, making everything feel so special indeed."
Emma - Jan 2019
"We had such a lovely time at The Rudyard. The lodge was cosy and well-equipped, just what we needed to unwind from the busy holiday rush. Totally recommend and well be back for sure!"
Sarah - Dec 2018
"Great stay, will return"
Emma - Nov 2018
"We had an amazing stay! The hosts were so considerate with lovely little touches. The place was spotless, with stunning views. The kitchen had everything we needed, plus books and games for the kids. Perfect family getaway!"
Emily - Nov 2018
"Its a lovely place to unwind, with plenty to explore, though we only drove once all week."
Emma - Sep 2018
"Really enjoyed our stay"
Jennifer - Jun 2018
"Great stay overall, loved the facilities, but the bathroom floor was a bit bouncy and felt unsteady. Will return!"
Emma - May 2018
"We had an awesome stay! The lodge was spotless and had everything we could possibly need. Loved the little touches like wine and treats for our dog. The hot tub was super clean and perfect for relaxing after a day out. Definitely recommend!"
Emma - May 2018
"We recently stayed at this lodge and honestly, the location is stunning and the lodge itself was quite cosy and comfy. We loved the peaceful surroundings, but unfortunately, our trip was marred a bit by the ongoing building work since there were quite a few vans and workers around during our five days. We werent warned about this beforeh and, which was a bit disappointing. The hot tub was nice to have, but it kept losing its temperature and got cold pretty quickly, which was a shame. We did appreciate the staffs friendliness; they said we could contact them if the hot tub problem persisted, but by the time we got in at night, it was usually too late. On the plus side, the lady who greeted us was very welcoming and even texted us directions to avoid getting lost - that was really helpful. Also, they allowed us to check in a few hours early, which was a nice touch. One thing that left a bad impression was the initial phone call - the guy I spoke to was quite rude, almost dismissive and said he didnt really know why his number was listed as he didnt handle much. Overall, despite the noise and hot tub issues, we enjoyed our stay and would consider going back."
Samira - Mar 2018
"We had a lovely relaxing stay at Rudyard lake lodge. Owners are friendly and helpful. Area is lovely, peaceful and easy to get to the lake for beautiful walks."
Sally - Aug 2022
"Lovely and relaxing. Accommodation clean tidy and provides everything you could need. Home from home. Nice little touches as well."
Russell - Jul 2022
"A beautiful lodge. Covered over hot tub and seating area so can still be used if it rains. The owners go above and beyond to make sure the lodge has everything you need for a lovely break."
Dawn - Jun 2022
"We've just returned from a wonderful 3-night stay at Rudyard Lake Lodges (we stayed at Heronsview). The location is gorgeous, and there is so much to do if you want an action-packed break, but you can also have a brilliantly relaxing time too. In a quiet and serene setting, it's a very short walk to Rudyard Lake and all the amenities there and a 5-minute drive from Leek. We were surprised, but delighted, when we received a text 4 hours before our official check-in time to let us know that the lodge was ready and we were welcome to arrive whenever was best for us. The owner was fantastic - really friendly and helpful, with great tips on places to visit too. The goats in the field opposite were the icing on the cake!"
Vicki - Jun 2022
"We loved our stay."
Kirsty - May 2022
"Well equipped lodge with lovely owners. Lots of extras to make your stay comfortable. Towels, robes for the hot tub, toiletries etc. Great location with lovely walks."
Sue - Apr 2022
"Cosy lodge in a lovely location. Lodge has everything you could possibly need. Easy access to the Peak District. Would definitely recommend."
Rachel - Apr 2022
"The location of this lodge is lovely. The lodge is fabulous with everything to make your stay perfect."
Vincent - Apr 2022
"Very enjoyable weekend at the lodge. Accommodation and surroundings suited our needs perfectly with two babies in the group. Would recommend to friends and family for a lovely relaxing getaway."
James - Apr 2022
"Very relaxing break, the little gestures were lovely, definitely will be returning."
Lynne - Mar 2022
"Beautiful area and the lodge had everything we required"
Matthew - Mar 2022
"Stunning property and views, very clean and tidy, every appliance needed. Very friendly owners, I would highly recommend!"
