Queenshill Lodges Reviews

"Our stay in March was truly lovely. The cottage was spotlessly clean and cosy, with a hot tub that was great fun. Plenty of room for the dogs to run around and the mornings were absolutely stunning. Well definitely be returning soon, cant wait!"
Emily Carter - Mar 2025
"We've stayed at Queenshill a few times now and always enjoyed it, but Elm Lodge really stole our hearts this time! Perfect for just the two of us, the bed is super comfy and the place stays cosy. Nothing beats relaxing in the hot tub under the stars after a day out, surrounded by wildlife and peaceful scenery. Its such a lovely escape from the rush of everyday life. We definitely plan to come back again! The only small thing was the kitchen - it lacked some utensils and accessories. We had to make do with normal spoons for stirring and theres no grater, which is a pain when making spag bol without cheese. Also, a liquid hand soap in the bathroom would be a nice touch. Still, overall a great stay!"
Sarah - Mar 2025
"Absolutely stunning scenery, we loved exploring the trails here! Definitely recommend."
Emma Carter - Jan 2025
"Great spot for a break, especially if you need some peace!"
Emma Clarke - Jan 2025
"Our Queenshill Lodges review: Paddock View had everything we needed-two bedrooms, a shower room, kitchenette and comfy lounge. Perfect spot for a weeks stay, really enjoyed it! Definitely recommend."
Alex Carter - Nov 2024
"The lodge was spotlessly clean and well-equipped, making our stay really enjoyable. Definitely recommend!"
Emma - Nov 2024
"We really enjoyed the place itself; its quite lovely. Unfortunately, a strong wind knocked out the internet, which was a bit of a pain since we needed it for work. The network engineers took four days to fix it and we were only there for six days, so that was a bit frustrating. The facilities inside the accommodation were top-notch, especially the hot shower. The tennis court out back could do with a mow - it was pretty unplayable. Still, overall, not bad!"
Jamie - Oct 2024
"Great spot for peaceful, undisturbed relaxation."
Emma Collins - Oct 2024
"Tranquil and charming"
Emma Carter - Jun 2024
"We absolutely adore Queenshill Lodges! Its our third time here and honestly, it feels like were the only ones around, even with the rain pouring down. The grounds are stunning and so well maintained, really adding to the cosy vibe. The lodge had everything we needed, though I agree the mattress isnt the comfiest - but we brought a topper, so no worries. Weve already booked our next trip, cant wait to come back!"
Emily Carter - Apr 2024
"We really appreciated the spaciousness and how tidy the lodge was. The mattress wasnt too comfy and the shower pressure could be better though."
Emma Carter - Feb 2024
"Really impressed with the overall stay"
Claire - Jan 2024
"We had a fantastic stay! The place was peaceful and perfect for unwinding. Plenty to see if youre feeling adventurous, but also great for just chilling out. Definitely recommend this spot for a break!"

Emma Carter - Nov 2023
"We really enjoyed our stay at Queenshill Lodges! The setting is stunning, perfect for unwinding and were already planning to visit again sometime soon. Truly lovely!"
Emma - Aug 2023
"We loved the stunning location with lovely walks and plenty of wildlife around. The lodge really feels like a cosy home. Only the mattress was a bit firm for us."
Emma - May 2023
"Really enjoyed our stay, such a charming place with great views."
Emma - Aug 2020
"We had a fantastic stay at this lodge! The setting is stunning and everything was spotless - really high hygiene standards. Our 9-year-old loved it and we felt so secure. Theres plenty of historic spots nearby, definitely rebooking soon! Highly recommend."
James - Aug 2020
"Really enjoyed it, definitely coming back soon, lovely place."
James Carter - Aug 2020
"We loved the peaceful spot and how friendly the staff were. The chalet was spotless and there were so many walking trails just outside. Plenty to explore nearby!"
Emma - Mar 2020
"We really enjoyed our stay here and would definitely come back! The place itself is fantastic, but a few tweaks could make it even better. The shower setup could do with an upgrade-specifically, the vertical bar and the shower head itself. The wooden steps are a bit slippy when wet, so adding some chicken wire would help. WiFi was a bit weak, but using a powerline booster might sort that out. Also, the toilet seat could use some attention, but overall, its a brilliant spot to stay!"
Sammy - Feb 2020
"Lovely place, will definitely return soon."
Emma - Feb 2020
"We had an incredible time! The scenery was just stunning and the lodge was spotless, with all the essentials plus some nice extras. The beds and linens felt really luxurious and there was plenty of space for us to relax. When our daughter got ill in the middle of the night, the staff were absolutely fantastic, helping us out right away. Honestly, a few tiny touches could push this to perfection, but for the price, its a real bargain. Wed definitely come back!"
Emma - Feb 2020
"The experience was mostly great, just wish the road and car park outside reception were better maintained - the potholes could do with fixing soon!"
James - Feb 2020
"Really enjoyed it, will definitely come back again soon."
Sarah - Feb 2020
"Really enjoyed it, would definitely go back."
George - Feb 2020
"Beautiful lodges, lovely surroundings, highly recommend!"

"A superb tranquil & idyllic get away lodge! Situated in beautiful location, surroundings & a peaceful retreat from everything. Homely, yet modern and spotless interior with lush green vistas of Rhododendron bushes, grassy areas and a lovely walled garden to roam, literally steps away. Plenty of private parking and easy access to the nearby area for exploring the coastline."
Mike - Jul 2022

"Second year for us here ,we love the peace and stepping straight out on to the grass, wonderful wildlife and scenic walks. We saw a little deer each morning and even had Goldcrest visiting.Lodge is very comfortable and a central base for lots of things to do .We will be back next year."
Claire - Jul 2022
"Lovely lodge very private and quiet ideal for families and dogs was a really great weekend not far from local shops just so peaceful"
Louise - Jul 2022
"We stayed in Elm Lodge which is the first lodge through the gates at Queenshill. It was in a lovely position with a big grassed area behind it which was great for our Cockapoo to have a good run around. The lodge itself was clean and spacious. A nice sized lounge area and adequate kitchen. There was a notice saying that some unnecessary items had been removed but only having 2 each of all cutlery and plates, side plates and cups was a pain at times. This was the only fault we could find. The bedroom/dressing room was a very good size with a nice ensuite shower room. We would definitely return if visiting the area again and wouldn't hesitate to recommend Elm Lodge."
Lesley - Jul 2022
"Fantastic time away! Perfect to chill out with great and quiet surroundings, my wee dog loved running around! Will definitely be booking again in the future; lovely overall and thank you."

"Lovely, dog friendly lodge in a peaceful location. Enjoy a walk round the estate then relax in the beautiful surroundings of the walled garden or take a drive into nearby Kirkcudbright or Castle Douglas."

We also recommend a visit to Castle Douglas and the Treasure Hunt Treasure Trails. These treasure hunts are great fun for the whole family and are an entertaining way to explore a new town or village. Children will enjoy solving the clues whilst learning about the history of the area. The walking trail is suitable for wheelchair users and those with pushchairs so no one is left out of the fun.

An outdoor activity center suitable for families. Featuring one of Europe's longest zip wires, jeep driving, grass sledging, archery, outdoor scooters. A mix of fun and adreneline rides and a lot more.

Mabie Farm Park is a firm favourite. Ideal for families with younger children ,this family oriented farm park has lots of animals to meet and also offers Donkey Rides, Paddle Boats and Slides as well as Trampolines and Bouncy Castles. Kids can run around on the Soft Play Area while mum and dad relax in the Tea Room. There is also a Farm Shop onsite selling toys, gifts and fresh local produce including cakes and jams. Seasonal activities can also be enjoyed including a spookly tea and walk on Haloween. The Farm closes for the winter on October 31st.
Lake District Wildlife Park - CA12 4RD

We love this day out in Cumbria where you're encouraged to "take a fresh look".  Some of the amazing animals you will get to see include the only Canadian Lynx in the UK and you will have the opportunity to help their Lynx Conservation Project.  The Asian Fishing Cat is also well worth a look - these cats are known for diving under the water and catching fish!  Other activities include fantastic flying displays and play areas for the little ones...
