Queenshill Lodges Reviews

"Had all we needed for a short stay, lodge was clean enough. Will stay again. A few more luxuries like a dishwasher are needed for a longer stay! Loved the quiet country vibes"
Joanne - Apr 2025
"Very comfortable, clean accommodation in a great location."
Rod - Apr 2025
"Our stay in March was truly lovely. The cottage was spotlessly clean and cosy, with a hot tub that was great fun. Plenty of room for the dogs to run around and the mornings were absolutely stunning. Well definitely be returning soon, cant wait!"
Emily Carter - Mar 2025
"We've stayed at Queenshill a few times now and always enjoyed it, but Elm Lodge really stole our hearts this time! Perfect for just the two of us, the bed is super comfy and the place stays cosy. Nothing beats relaxing in the hot tub under the stars after a day out, surrounded by wildlife and peaceful scenery. Its such a lovely escape from the rush of everyday life. We definitely plan to come back again! The only small thing was the kitchen - it lacked some utensils and accessories. We had to make do with normal spoons for stirring and theres no grater, which is a pain when making spag bol without cheese. Also, a liquid hand soap in the bathroom would be a nice touch. Still, overall a great stay!"
Sarah - Mar 2025
"Our Queenshill Lodges review: Absolutely stunning scenery, we loved exploring the trails here! Definitely recommend."
Emma Carter - Jan 2025
"nice place to get away from it all including the kids"
Verified Guest - Jan 2025
"Paddock View had everything we needed-two bedrooms, a shower room, kitchenette and comfy lounge. Perfect spot for a weeks stay, really enjoyed it! Definitely recommend."
Alex Carter - Nov 2024
"We really enjoyed the place itself; its quite lovely. Unfortunately, a strong wind knocked out the internet, which was a bit of a pain since we needed it for work. The network engineers took four days to fix it and we were only there for six days, so that was a bit frustrating. The facilities inside the accommodation were top-notch, especially the hot shower. The tennis court out back could do with a mow - it was pretty unplayable. Still, overall, not bad!"
Jamie - Oct 2024
"We had a really chilled weekend. The place was spotless and had all we needed, plus some nice little touches. Definitely recommend it!"
Jessie - Oct 2024
"Really impressed with the overall stay"
Claire - Jan 2024
"We had a fantastic stay! The place was peaceful and perfect for unwinding. Plenty to see if youre feeling adventurous, but also great for just chilling out. Definitely recommend this spot for a break!"
James - Nov 2023
"Really enjoyed our stay. The lodges were cosy and well-equipped, with everything we needed. Quiet location with lovely walks nearby."
Mark - Nov 2023
"We had such a lovely stay here! The owners are genuinely warm and thoughtful, making us feel really welcome. The cottage itself is adorable, with that charming half-timbered look and a super strong shower-definitely a plus after a day out. The cosy kitchen and comfy bed made everything perfect. Parking right next to the cottage was so convenient and it was spotlessly clean. We enjoyed peaceful walks across the fields to Thaxted, which is just a short drive away. Would definitely come back!"
Oliver - Oct 2023
"We really enjoyed our stay here and would definitely come back! The place itself is fantastic, but a few tweaks could make it even better. The shower setup could do with an upgrade-specifically, the vertical bar and the shower head itself. The wooden steps are a bit slippy when wet, so adding some chicken wire would help. WiFi was a bit weak, but using a powerline booster might sort that out. Also, the toilet seat could use some attention, but overall, its a brilliant spot to stay!"
Sammy - Feb 2020
"Really enjoyed it, would definitely go back."
George - Feb 2020
"Weve visited this place four times now and honestly, its just so calming. The cabin, nature, wildlife-love it!"
Sophie - May 2018
"We stumbled upon Queenshill Lodges a few years back and instantly loved the peaceful vibe and beautiful setting. Its become our go-to spot for relaxing getaways. As a couple in our early 60s, we really appreciate the calm atmosphere and lovely surroundings. We keep coming back!"
Linda - Nov 2017
"Beautiful setting, very peaceful, kids loved it. Will be back."
Chris - Jul 2022
"A superb tranquil & idyllic get away lodge! Situated in beautiful location, surroundings & a peaceful retreat from everything. Homely, yet modern and spotless interior with lush green vistas of Rhododendron bushes, grassy areas and a lovely walled garden to roam, literally steps away. Plenty of private parking and easy access to the nearby area for exploring the coastline."
Mike - Jul 2022
"Lodge in a great spot plenty of walks lots to see .There's a map to guide you round the estate, you can't get lost. There's various towns round about easy to get too"

"The location of the lodge is beautiful. The grounds are gorgeous and you feel like you are a million miles away from anywhere. The lodge is about a 10 minute drive from shops. Our kids loved a day out at Carrick Beach, The Cocobean factory and the nearby fairy trail. We loved it and would definitely return."
Abby - Jul 2022

"Second year for us here ,we love the peace and stepping straight out on to the grass, wonderful wildlife and scenic walks. We saw a little deer each morning and even had Goldcrest visiting.Lodge is very comfortable and a central base for lots of things to do .We will be back next year."
Claire - Jul 2022
"Lovely lodge very private and quiet ideal for families and dogs was a really great weekend not far from local shops just so peaceful"
Louise - Jul 2022
"We stayed in Elm Lodge which is the first lodge through the gates at Queenshill. It was in a lovely position with a big grassed area behind it which was great for our Cockapoo to have a good run around. The lodge itself was clean and spacious. A nice sized lounge area and adequate kitchen. There was a notice saying that some unnecessary items had been removed but only having 2 each of all cutlery and plates, side plates and cups was a pain at times. This was the only fault we could find. The bedroom/dressing room was a very good size with a nice ensuite shower room. We would definitely return if visiting the area again and wouldn't hesitate to recommend Elm Lodge."
Lesley - Jul 2022
"Fantastic time away! Perfect to chill out with great and quiet surroundings, my wee dog loved running around! Will definitely be booking again in the future; lovely overall and thank you."
Heather - Jul 2022
"Lovely, dog friendly lodge in a peaceful location. Enjoy a walk round the estate then relax in the beautiful surroundings of the walled garden or take a drive into nearby Kirkcudbright or Castle Douglas."
Susan - Jun 2022
"Fantastic place, so relaxing. Clean and comfortable lodge. Really enjoyed our visit, thank you. Would definitely come back."

Children will enjoy solving the clues whilst learning about the history of the area. The walking trail is suitable for wheelchair users and those with pushchairs so no one is left out of the fun.

Mabie Farm Park is a firm favourite. Ideal for families with younger children ,this family oriented farm park has lots of animals to meet and also offers Donkey Rides, Paddle Boats and Slides as well as Trampolines and Bouncy Castles. Kids can run around on the Soft Play Area while mum and dad relax in the Tea Room. There is also a Farm Shop onsite selling toys, gifts and fresh local produce including cakes and jams. Lake District Wildlife Park - CA12 4RD

We love this day out in Cumbria where you're encouraged to "take a fresh look".  Some of the amazing animals you will get to see include the only Canadian Lynx in the UK and you will have the opportunity to help their Lynx Conservation Project.  The Asian Fishing Cat is also well worth a look - these cats are known for diving under the water and catching fish!  Other activities include fantastic flying displays and play areas for the little ones...
