The Pond Lodges Reviews

"We had a lovely stay! The place was super peaceful and spotless, with all the essentials like plates, cups, glasses, pans and even washing up liquid. Only thing missing was shower gel and shampoo, but we brought our own. The mattress needs replacing though-wasn't very comfy."
Emma Carter - Mar 2025
"We stayed at the lodge for four nights and found it just as described-spotlessly clean and well-equipped. The only downside was the bed; those springs really dug in and the pillows were quite flat, which others had also mentioned. On a brighter note, Bob the resident dog was adorable and so welcoming - he was clearly excited to see us after our walks. Wed definitely return!"
Rachel - Dec 2024
"Great experience overall"
Emily - Nov 2024
"Really enjoyed our stay! The lodge is cosy, well-equipped and the hot tub made it extra special. Would come back!"
Emma - Nov 2024
"Our The Pond Lodges review: Really enjoyed staying here, would recommend it."
Alex - Oct 2024
"Really enjoyed our stay, the lodge was spotlessly clean and super cosy overall."
Emma - Oct 2024
"We stayed at Cherry Lodge and honestly, it had everything we needed for a short break. The kitchen was compact but fully stocked and the shower was really good. The double bed looked out onto a stunning view and the breakfast bar with stools was a nice touch. The hot tub on the decking was definitely a highlight, with comfy chairs to relax and enjoy the scenery. Would happily return!"
Sam T. - Oct 2024
"Really enjoyed the stay, would definitely return."
Emily - Oct 2024
"Very comfy stay, stunning views, perfect for relaxing walks indeed."
James - Aug 2024
"We loved how serene everything was - truly peaceful! The place is compact but feels luxurious, definitely not enough time here. Only a tiny gripe: some more signs for Pond Lodges would help, sat nav led us astray. Well be back!"
Mark - Aug 2024
"The doors are a real pain, always tricky to lock and open. The towel rail control is wobbly and definitely needs fixing soon. Not impressed with these issues at all."
Sarah - Aug 2024
"We had such a lovely time at The Pond Lodges! The setting is absolutely gorgeous, surrounded by nature, which makes it a perfect spot to unwind. The lodges themselves are really comfortable and well-equipped. The staff were friendly and attentive, making sure everything was just right. Whether you're after a romantic break or a quiet family escape, wed definitely recommend it. Can't wait to go back!"
Emma Rivers - Aug 2024
"Really enjoyed our stay, super relaxing and peaceful atmosphere."
Emma - Jul 2024
"The holiday was truly lovely, especially for couples wanting some quiet time. The lodges nestled in the hills created a stunning valley vibe. We loved relaxing in the warm hot tub and watching the horses wander past. Honestly, it was quite a special experience, would happily go back!"
Alex - Jul 2024
"We had a lovely weekend, the place was spotless and super peaceful."
Olivia - Jun 2024
"We had a lovely stay at the lodge and honestly, the views are just breathtaking. The three walks on site kept us entertained and the map with clues was a hit with both kids and adults alike. Definitely recommend!"
Alex - May 2024
"Lovely stay, would return"
Emma Carter - Apr 2024
"We stayed in the Maple Lodge and honestly, it was pretty lovely. Everything we needed was there, from comfy furniture to all the essentials. The outdoor seating area was a nice touch, perfect for relaxing evenings. The hot tub was a highlight, though we did notice it wasnt covered, which was a bit of a shame. On our first night, the weather was perfect, so we made the most of it, but the next day, heavy rain meant we had to use the hot tub cover as a makeshift shelter! Itd be great if they added covers over the hot tubs, like the other lodges seem to have. Still, overall, a great stay!"
Jamie - Mar 2024
"The lodge was fantastic, really comfortable and well-equipped. We loved the location and can't wait to return!"
Emma - Feb 2024
"We stayed for three nights and truly enjoyed it. The cabin had all we needed, was spotless and the hot tub was just fantastic. Definitely recommend for a relaxing break!"
Sophie - Feb 2024
"The lodge was super comfy and super clean, plus the location was spot on! Definitely returning."
Sam - Feb 2024
"We had a lovely time staying at Alder Lodge. Everything was spot on and we can't wait to come back!"
Emma - Jan 2024
"Would have loved to dine on-site though."
Lisa - Dec 2023
"Good, but varied"
Emma Carter - Nov 2023

Castle Douglas - DG7 1TJ

We also recommend a visit to Castle Douglas and the Treasure Hunt Treasure Trails. These treasure hunts are great fun for the whole family and are an entertaining way to explore a new town or village. Children will enjoy solving the clues whilst learning about the history of the area. The walking trail is suitable for wheelchair users and those with pushchairs so no one is left out of the fun.
Laggan Outdoor - DG7 3NQ

An outdoor activity center suitable for families. Featuring one of Europe's longest zip wires, jeep driving, grass sledging, archery, outdoor scooters. A mix of fun and adreneline rides and a lot more.

Mabie Farm Park - DG2 8EZ
about 18 Miles
Mabie Farm Park is a firm favourite. Ideal for families with younger children ,this family oriented farm park has lots of animals to meet and also offers Donkey Rides, Paddle Boats and Slides as well as Trampolines and Bouncy Castles. Kids can run around on the Soft Play Area while mum and dad relax in the Tea Room. There is also a Farm Shop onsite selling toys, gifts and fresh local produce including cakes and jams. Seasonal activities can also be enjoyed including a spookly tea and walk on Haloween. The Farm closes for the winter on October 31st.
Lake District Wildlife Park - CA12 4RD
about 37 Miles
We love this day out in Cumbria where you're encouraged to "take a fresh look".  Some of the amazing animals you will get to see include the only Canadian Lynx in the UK and you will have the opportunity to help their Lynx Conservation Project.  The Asian Fishing Cat is also well worth a look - these cats are known for diving under the water and catching fish!  Other activities include fantastic flying displays and play areas for the little ones...
