Crofthead Reviews

"Great stay, spacious, modern, highly recommend!"
Emma Carter - Mar 2025
"We stayed at Friarlands Lodge recently. Arriving late at night, we struggled a bit with directions, even with the instructions and had to go back to reception for help. The staff member there was really friendly and even drove us up to the lodge, which was a lovely touch. Once inside, we couldnt get enough of the beautiful decor - its truly stunning and tastefully done. The only real downside was that, for the first time ever, we forgot to bring towels! Had to dash to Tesco the next morning and spent £40 on four towels - bit of a pain! The outdoor space wasnt really our thing; the open decking meant everyone could see us while in the hot tub, which spoiled the privacy a bit. Weve been to Carrick Lodge twice and that place faces a field with gorgeous decor, so wed go back there instead. Overall, a lovely stay, just remember to bring your towels unless privacy isnt a big deal for you!"
Harriet - Feb 2025
"Really enjoyed our stay here"
Jamie - Oct 2024
"We stayed at Goddard's Mead recently and truly felt welcomed from the moment we arrived. Rob and Sharon have done a wonderful job restoring this historic building with care and attention. Bonnie was lovely too! The place has everything you need for a relaxing stay and the location is perfect for exploring Essexs charming villages and towns. Definitely worth taking a walk around Thaxted and soaking up the history. Highly recommend!"
Jane Parker - Sep 2024
"Our Crofthead review: We had a lovely stay at this good place. The location is so peaceful and private, yet the owners were super friendly and always on hand if we needed anything. The hot tub was a real highlight after long cycle days! A heads up, the cottage is right under Stansteds flight path, so theres quite a bit of aircraft noise. It didnt bother us much once we got used to it, but if youre sensitive to noise, its worth knowing. Overall, a great place for a relaxing break!"
Rajiv - Aug 2024
"We really enjoyed our stay at this lodge. The location at the back of the park offered stunning views that made everything feel special. The lodge itself was fantastic-definitely top quality. No complaints at all and were already planning to return soon!"
Sophie - Jul 2024
"We had an amazing stay! The lodge was spotless and really beautiful and the hot tub was just what we needed. The views were breathtaking - dont forget your binoculars because the wildlife is incredible. The staff were super friendly and helpful. Theres a small shop and cafe nearby, plenty to explore around. Cant wait to return!"
Elaine - Jun 2024

Rebecca - Nov 2023
"We stayed for four days and found the caravan to be quite clean and well-maintained. The beds were comfy, although a bit too soft for my taste. The staff were genuinely friendly and chatty, making the experience even better. Well definitely be returning next year!"
David - Nov 2023
"Very cosy place, felt just like home, loved it here!"
Marie - Aug 2023
"We just got back from a really nice four-night stay at this cottage. The owners are super friendly and helpful but never intrusive, which was perfect. The big fenced garden was great for our dog to run around freely. The place is fully equipped with everything we could need and we even enjoyed a BBQ one evening. The hot tub was a real highlight! Were already recommending it to friends and hope to come back soon. Thanks for a lovely break!"
Lucy - Jun 2023

Alex Turner - Jul 2020
"We had a lovely stay! The place was super clean and much bigger than we thought, which was a nice surprise. Its really modern and the staff were so friendly and helpful throughout. The hot tub was a real treat and the peaceful spot was perfect for us. Only thing was the gas oven-none of us had used one before, but it didnt spoil our trip at all. Would definitely recommend!"
Imogen - Mar 2020
"We had a lovely stay! The caravan was spotless and comfy, plus the staff couldnt have been more helpful. The kids loved the play area and crazy golf. Perfect spot for exploring Ayrshire!"
Claire - Mar 2020
"We really enjoyed our stay here. The location is perfect, away from the busy city noise but still close enough to explore. The place was spotless and all the amenities looked br and new, which was great. They even put up a Christmas tree at Christmas! The new reception area with a small shop and coffee spot is a lovely touch. Staff are super friendly and helpful - nothing was too much trouble. Definitely felt like a home away from home!"
Amelia - Feb 2020
"We really enjoyed our stay at Crofthead. The weather was all over the place, but honestly, it didnt ruin the lovely experience we had."

John - Jul 2022
"Very enjoyable stay"
John - Jul 2022
"Would 100% recommend Crofthead Holiday Park to anyone! Our holiday was great from start to finish. The whole family absolutely loved it. There’s plenty to do around Ayr also if you’re wanting to head out for the day! The hot tub was so relaxing. There was even a great park next to the reception for the kids! The views from the park are fantastic also. The lodge we stayed in was immaculate. It was also a lot bigger than we expected with plenty of storage. Also came with a washing machine which was an added bonus as we managed to do some washing throughout our stay and dry it on the airers which saved a massive load of washing when we got home (it’s the little things in life haha). We can’t wait to visit again!"
Nicola - Jul 2022
"We had a lovely holiday. The staff are so helpful. The park is well looked after and is so close to everything."

Ann - Jul 2022
"Crofthead is wonderful and the staff could not be more helpful"
Isla - Jul 2022
"Very enjoyable week at Crofthead. Only one problem was the sofa bed setter in the lounge was very uncomfortable to sit on as a settee."
