Gadgirth Estate Lodges Reviews

"Really enjoyed our stay, the hot tub was perfect after long walks around the area."
Oliver - Mar 2025
"We absolutely loved our stay! The lodge was spotless and had all the essentials for a few relaxing nights. The hot tub with river views was just perfect. Comfy beds and sofas made it easy to unwind, plus having an iron, washing machine and tumble dryer was such a bonus! Definitely recommend."
Emma - Mar 2025
"We always have a great time; it just keeps improving each visit!"
Pauline - Mar 2025
"We had a fantastic family getaway! The grounds are absolutely stunning and the lodges with log fires made it really cosy. The welcome basket was a lovely touch and the kitchen was well-stocked with bread, butter and eggs-so handy with little ones. A big thanks to Ian for being so friendly and welcoming. Were already planning to come back in the summer, cant wait! Such a lovely place."
Emma Roberts - Jan 2025
"Our Gadgirth Estate Lodges review: Decent stay, but WiFi was a bit slow."
Mark - Jan 2025
"We booked a week at the Apple Lodge over Christmas and honestly, theres quite a bit to love about the place, but a few things did mar the experience a bit. First off, the lodge itself is really charming. Its cosy, immaculately clean and has a lovely design that makes you feel right at home the moment you step in. The Christmas welcome hamper was a lovely surprise - with Prosecco, Quality Street and Mince Pies, it really set the festive tone. Plus, the lodge was decorated with a Christmas tree, which was a nice touch. They also left a general welcome hamper with tea, coffee, bread, butter, biscuits and milk in the fridge, so we didnt have to rush out first thing. The outside wood storage was well-stocked with kindling, which was perfect for keeping the log burner going, creating that warm, cosy atmosphere we love. The bed was super comfy and the blackout blinds in the bedroom meant we slept in late without any hassle. We also appreciated the helpful welcome pack explaining local bits and bobs - good communication overall. Now, onto some of the downsides. The Wi-Fi was pretty much unusable most of the time, which was a real pain. We had to leave early on one day because we couldnt get any work done remotely. We did mention this to Karen, who came by to check it out. Her solution was showing us she could stream iPlayer on her phone and she mentioned no other guests had issues. But the next day, we spoke to a guest in the cabin next door who said the same thing - the internet is just rubbish. So, clearly, its not just us. Most days, unless we sat right by the front door, we couldnt connect or check emails. On Christmas Day, we managed a flaky FaceTime call by sitting outside near the front door, but even that wasnt reliable. Its a shame because in this day and age, decent internet is pretty much a must-have.Another thing that felt a bit lacking was the hot tub situation. No dressing gowns were provided for it, which might seem trivial, but for the price we paid, wed expect some. The hot tub itself is exposed and overlooks the car park, Gadgirth office and next doors cabin and their hot tub. Privacy would have been appreciated here, especially when youre trying to relax, not feeling like youre on display the whole time. Also, there was no toilet brush, which is a bit gross - its such a small thing but makes a difference. We also found there were no hooks for coats or towels, which was annoying. The wardrobe only had four hangers for two of us for a whole week - definitely not enough. The fridge had some missing or broken shelving, which made storing our food tricky after a few days. Parking was another minor gripe; while theres space for about 8 cars, its not well marked and people tend to park far apart, making it a bit of a nightmare to get a space. Some painted lines or designated spots would help a lot.In terms of the lodges interior, it was pretty well stocked, but a few more hooks, a toilet brush and extra hangers would have made our stay even better. The overall vibe was lovely, but these small things add up. We stayed in the Apple Lodge with another couple and for the most part, we had a relaxing time. The lodges cosy design, the Christmas touches and the welcoming hampers really made it feel special. However, the internet issue was a biggie for us, especially since we were working remotely for part of the stay. We get that its a rural location and the welcome pack does mention that Wi-Fi and signals might not be great, encouraging a bit of a tech detox. But honestly, thats not what we signed up for during Christmas, when we wanted to stay connected with family and friends. It was frustrating and we think they should be more upfront about the Wi-Fi limitations before booking. To be fair, once we spent New Year in the Arctic Circle (where the Wi-Fi was perfect, by the way), it was clear that rural location isnt a good enough excuse anymore. If the internet had been better, this stay would have been nearly perfect. Still, despite the hiccups, the positives outweigh the negatives and wed maybe consider returning if they improved the connectivity. All in all, its a lovely spot with a cosy feel, just a few practical things could be sorted to make it even better!"
Emily Roberts - Jan 2025
"Comfortable overall, but the beddings pretty plain."
Emma Carter - Dec 2024
"We really enjoyed our stay at Kingfisher View. The lodge felt so homely, with plenty of space and the deep bath was a lovely touch. Will come back!"
Emma - Nov 2024
"We recently spent a week at Herons Rest Lodge for our honeymoon and honestly, it was fantastic. The lodge itself was just what we needed-cosy and peaceful, perfect for unwinding. Yes, it could use a bit of TLC here and there, but honestly, it didnt spoil anything for us. Mornings waking up with the view and evenings unwinding in the hot tub were pure bliss. Everything we needed was there, from towels to a welcome hamper with milk and bread, plus a well-equipped kitchen. Were already planning to come back someday!"
Emily - Nov 2024
"Really enjoyed staying here, the lodge was fantastic!"
Charlie - Oct 2024
"We loved staying here! The peaceful rural setting was perfect for relaxing, yet its close enough to Ayrshires event spots. Staff were super friendly and helpful. The rooms were spacious, comfy and nicely decorated. Great stay!"
Alex - Sep 2024
"Really enjoyed the stay, the Otters View was perfect for us!"
Emma - Sep 2024
"We had such a lovely stay at Gadgirth Lodges! Ian and Karen are genuinely warm hosts who make you feel really welcome. The lodges themselves are super luxurious and you can tell theyre well cared for-spotless and comfy. The hot tub was a real treat after a day out and we loved trying the BBQ hut this time; those fillet steaks were top notch! Weve been coming back for years and already booked for next May. Thanks for having us!"
Sarah & Mark Jennings - Sep 2024
"We stayed at Woodcutter Lodge for a week in August and honestly, it was lovely. The place was spotless, spacious and had a modern feel that we really appreciated. The beds were comfy, which made settling in easy after busy days exploring. The kitchen was well-stocked with all the utensils we needed to cook up family meals without fuss. Having a washer and dryer was a real bonus, especially with kids and all the outdoor adventures. The welcome pack was a sweet touch-coffee, tea, sugar, sweets, bread, milk-all the little extras made us feel at home. WiFi wasnt the best, but who cares? The hot tub was checked daily and always ready for a relaxing soak. Wed definitely come back!"
Emily - Aug 2024
"The setting is really lovely and the lodges are super comfy with all the modern bits you'd want, plus a cosy wood stove and plenty of firewood. The grounds are spotless and the hot tubs are well maintained daily. The central BBQ hut creates a warm, family-friendly vibe-definitely a great spot to relax!"
Rachel - Aug 2024
"We really appreciated how spotless and tidy everything was, plus the extras like the hoover, cleaning supplies and tissues in the bathroom made our stay so much easier and comfy! Definitely recommend."
Emma - Jul 2024
"Great stay, cosy and well-equipped for a couple!"
Jamie - Apr 2024
"We had a lovely stay at the lodge. The views over the river from the deck and hot tub were stunning and there was plenty of room for our family of five. Nice touches like the welcome pack and toiletries made it extra special. Definitely coming back!"
Emma - Apr 2024
"Really enjoyed our stay, the lodge was stunning and super cosy. Will come back!"
Emma Roberts - Apr 2024
"We just got back from a week staying at the Kingfisher Lodge and honestly, it was such a lovely break. From the moment we arrived, the welcome was warm and friendly and the host showed us around the lodge, making us feel right at home. The place had everything we needed, from cooking gear to logs for the fire-really thought of everything. The hot tub was checked daily, which was a nice touch and it was just perfect to unwind in after a day out exploring. We didnt miss much, though I did notice there were no slippers or dressing gowns for the hot tub, which weve had at other places before. Not a big deal, but just something to mention. The lodge is dog-friendly and our pooch was super keen to get back after each adventure outside. Culzean Castle nearby is definitely worth a visit. Plus, supermarkets like Tesco and Morrisons are about 15 mins away. The peaceful setting by the river makes it a real gem-wouldnt hesitate to come back!"
Emma - Mar 2024
"We had a lovely time at Gadgirth! The lodge by the river offers stunning views, with plenty of wildlife like herons and many other birds. Its such a calm, peaceful spot-perfect for unwinding. Theres lots to do nearby too. Definitely a place wed return to!"
Emma Carter - Mar 2024
"We loved our second visit to Holly Lodge. The place is stunning, spotless and fully equipped with everything needed. Definitely recommend for a relaxing getaway!"
Emma - Mar 2024
"We loved the stunning setting and the lodge itself was perfect-super clean, roomy and well-equipped. The endless supply of logs for the fire was a real bonus and the welcome food pack was a lovely touch. Definitely recommend!"
Emma Carter - Mar 2024
"We had a fantastic time, definitely coming back soon!"
Alex - Mar 2024
"Great experience, would definitely return"
Emily - Feb 2024
"The lodge exceeded our expectations, truly the best we've stayed at. Lovely owners, great location, definitely coming back soon. Highly recommend!"
Emma Carter - Jan 2024
"Really enjoyed our stay, the lodge was super comfy with all the right gear. Can't wait to return!"
Simon - Jan 2024
"We had a fantastic stay from start to finish! The owner was super friendly, making us feel really welcome. The tour was brief but packed with useful info, not overwhelming at all. The facilities were top-notch - the bed and sofa were so comfy and the fire was just perfect for chilly evenings. Plus, the fact that the wood was free was a real bonus. The hot tub stayed warm longer than others we've been to. Definitely planning to return in September!"
Jamie - Jan 2024
"We really enjoyed our stay at the Apple Lodge. The place was perfect for a quick, relaxing getaway. The site isnt crowded, just a few other lodges, which made it feel peaceful. The welcome pack was a nice touch when we arrived. Having the hot tub was a highlight - super clean, just remember to bring your own towels or robe since only shower towels are provided. The wood burner was a lovely addition, especially with the logs included at no extra cost, kept us warm during the chilly evenings. Its close to amenities and easy to find, so wed definitely come back!"
Jessie Harper - Jan 2024
"We absolutely loved our stay! The place was gorgeous and so cosy, weve already booked a bigger lodge for next time. Honestly, the value for money is incredible. Cant wait to return!"
Jamie - Jan 2024
"Had an excellent, quiet, peaceful weekend break at Gadgirth estate lodges. Memorable occasion was going down to the decking area overlooking the River Ayr with our morning coffee cups and enjoying the view over the river."
Frank - Aug 2022
"Excellent facilities and would definitely return. My only criticism is the size of the shower in the Holly Lodge. There is a separate bath, however if showers are preferred the shower is very tight. Apart from this everything was excellent and all the little extras were very much appreciated including a lovely welcome basket. The wood burner a fab added bonus too We would return Summer or Winter. The owner was very friendly and welcoming too. Also interesting nearby activities, we enjoyed Culzean Castle,(lots on the grounds too including a fab woodland playpark) Robert Burns Museum (fab playpark included here too) and his Cottage. We also visited Rozelle Park and galleries. Fantastic short break?"
Mary - Jul 2022
"Beautiful lodge in a beautiful setting. Barbecue hut and hot tubs are brilliant. You need to be prepared to drive to go anywhere even out walking to explore the countryside and the WiFi is poor. Neither of these points are bad but just useful to know in advance I think. Highly recommended for a few nights of R&R."
Dalene - Jul 2022
"We had a fantastic holiday in Kingfisher View. Son took his fishing rod and although he didn't catch anything he enjoyed being right on the river. Staff were lovely. Surroundings so peaceful and wildlife spotting was fab too. We will def be back."
Kirsty - Jul 2022
"Very quiet area with not in much to do, so dont use unless your prepaired to get on your bike, walk, or car to look for something opther than poor peace and quiet. Hot tubs good and cleaned every day by staff. Villa are excellent, well maintained and furnished. We had a couple of issues which were sorted out quickly. My family live in this area so suited us."
May - Jul 2022
"Beautiful lodge just a wee bit too remote if not wanting to drive"
Tracey - Jul 2022
"Outstanding! Perfect place if you just want to switch off and relax. Stayed with husband and 2 young children. Ayr town 15 minutes in car."
Kirsty - Jul 2022
"This place was beautiful, had a great stay. Staff were helpful and very clean. Beautiful touch with the welcome back. Would recommend this place to anyone. Great location to travel around Scotland"
Amy - Jul 2022
"Loved it here . What an amazing hideaway . I went with my four sisters for my seventieth birthday as I was born in the village nearby . The wonderful roomy lodge was right by the river with otters swimming by , squirrels chasing in the trees , owls hooting Then the hot tub . What a treat . We will all be going back I hope"
Janis - Jul 2022
"The location, cabin and welcome totally blew us away! We absolutely loved it and we are already planning our next trip back!"
Joanne - Jun 2022
"Beautiful riverside location and the site was immaculate and really well maintained by the owners who clearly have a lot of pride about the site. The interior of the lodge was stunning and had everything we needed. It was near to all the local places to visit as well, most places within 30 mins drive. We would certainly recommend it!"
Joanne - Jun 2022
"Stunning lodge, perfect getaway for some chill time. 10 out of 10 for me. I’d highly recommend."
