After many years as a family group of relatives etc we have stayed a property near Padstow having lost this due to sale in 2024 we had to hunt for such a replacement, Mowhay Barn was excellent loads of space hot tub great location to the various areas quality and very well maintained and furnished to a very high standard in keeping with the style of property, would definitely come back again.
We really enjoyed our stay at the Mowhay Barn. A good location and very peaceful. Beautiful grounds and plenty of space.
What an incredible holiday in the most beautiful of surroundings. The amount of space is amazing. The house is beautifully presented and very well thought out. After staying here the benchmark had been set very high indeed.
Mowhay is a beautiful holiday accommodation. There’s so much space downstairs for family to gather but also have space to themselves. Bedrooms are lovely and master suite bathroom is great. The grounds are extensive, it’s a shame dogs aren’t accepted as would be great. The hot tub is a great addition especially as we had lovely weather. As the outside is so lovely it’s a shame no comfy seating is available, only the large wooden dining table & chairs. I would also say there needs to be some BBQ tools to use and to be able to then clean with a BBQ brush or similar. The keys in the under stairs cupboard need sorting and better labelling it took us ages to try and find the key for the door to the barn steps, finally found in the back of a drawer in the bedroom (this is a fire exit so needs to be kept in the door). Other improvements would a few black bags for rubbish as only 1 left and toilet paper as only 2 in each bathroom would struggle if fully occupied with 8 people. I think as it’s marketed as a luxury level and priced as such, the welcome pack is poor compared with other rentals we have had. Other rentals at this price point have left, milk, bottle of wine, crusty loaf, pasta and sauce. The write up also says sea views from the summer house, I’d say possibly with binoculars! Also some people need to now there is a fairly well used road alongside the house for traffic noise in master bedroom. The furniture choices and decor are beautiful, and provides a very comfortable stay.
We found Mowhay Barn a delight to enjoy a family holiday. Quality throughout, most comfortable rooms & everything you could need whilst there. Close proximity to great Cornish locations & dining opportunities nearby! Only two negatives for us, the barn is very close to a busy road so the constant traffic noise both in the garden & in the bedrooms took some getting use to! Disappointing not to receive a welcome pack!
This was our second stay at Mowhay Barn and we had a glorious stay with lovely warm weather. The house is so comfortable and with everything you need and the spacious grounds which are kept very tidy gives lots of space for the grandchildren to play in. we did experience a new colony of honey bees arriving at the house too. We informed the company and it was dealt with quickly-apparently due to Cornwall not cutting back the grass/flower sides/borders of the roads and fields-looked very pretty.

Newquay Zoo is a 13-acre zoo and garden site in Trenance Leisure Park, in the middle of Newquay. It is the largest zoo in Cornwall, and its planted grounds have won a Britain in Bloom Gold award. Visitors can see hundreds of species, including lynx, penguins, otters, zebras, sloths and meerkats, in a mix of indoor and outdoor habitats.

A Cornish sanctuary and animal park that rescues owls and shows species from around the world.
Screech Owl Sanctuary & Animal Park is a home for owls and other animals on Goss Moor, near Indian Queens in mid Cornwall. Founded in 1990 by Carolyn Screech, it shows owls from around the world, with British, European, African, American, Asian, Australasian and West Indian species. It also rescues and rehabilitates wild owls in Cornwall, and there is a Siberian Eagle Owl breeding project.
Tip: If you want an owl or animal experience, call ahead to book, as busy periods may mean walk-up requests can't be fitted in.

Walk through one of the world's largest indoor rainforests, set in a reclaimed china clay pit near St Austell.
The Eden Project sits in a reclaimed china clay pit in Cornwall. At the bottom of the pit are two huge domed Biomes made of inflated cells on steel frames. The Rainforest Biome is one of the largest indoor rainforests in the world, with tropical plants such as banana, coffee, rubber and giant bamboo. The Mediterranean Biome has olives, grape vines and sculptures.

A Victorian country house, colourful gardens and almost 1,000 acres of parkland and woodland to explore above the River Fowey.
Lanhydrock is a Victorian family home inside a Jacobean mansion, once lived in by the Agar-Robartes family. Most of the interiors were rebuilt after a fire in 1881. Inside, you can see the Long Gallery with its ornate ceiling, and families can play in the refurbished Victorian nursery.
Tip: It is busiest between 11am and 2pm, so arrive later in the day for a quieter visit and shorter queues for the house.

Zip wire, giant swing, karting and an inflatable aquapark in a flooded Cornish quarry.
Adrenalin Quarry is a family-owned adventure park in Menheniot, built around an old flooded quarry. It offers five rides: an inflatable aquapark for ages 6 and over, go karting on an 800m all-weather track for ages 7 and over, a zip wire that is 50m high and 490m long, a giant swing 150ft above the lake, and axe throwing for ages 12 and over.
Tip: You can book all rides online ahead, or just turn up for the zip and the giant swing.

A remarkably intact circular castle keep above the River Fowey, with battlement walks and wide countryside views.
Restormel Castle stands on a high, deeply ditched mound overlooking the River Fowey near Lostwithiel. Its huge, almost perfectly circular keep is one of the best-preserved of its type, and it was once a luxurious residence linked to the Earls of Cornwall and Edward the Black Prince.
Tip: Bring a picnic to enjoy at the castle, and combine your visit with a walk in the Fowey valley.
