Welcome to...

Penrhos Park

Nine miles south of Aberystwyth and just one and a half miles from the nearest beach, Penrhos Park offers the perfect holiday experience for golf lovers and those who just want to explore the nearby historic towns and harbour villages. The facilities are excellent - there are two bars and a bistro on the park as well as a bowling green and tennis courts.

Fishing and riding are both available locally and Penrhos Park also has an indoor heated swimming pool, leisure centre, gym, steam room, sauna and solarium. You can take advantage of a challenging 18 hole golf course or a 9 hole par 3 or par 4 course with a driving range and reduced green fees. The Penrhos Bistro serves a good selection of freshly prepared and locally sourced meals.

We recommend the Osprey and the Kestrel VIP lodges, both with their own private decking areas and gorgeous outdoor hot tubs. Osprey VIP sleeps up to six people and the master double has an ensuite bathroom. It's a truly outstanding two storey, Scandinavian style log cabin - spacious, luxurious and beautifully equipped.

There are plenty of beaches along Cardigan Bay and you can take a wildlife boat trip from New Quay and be almost certain to spot grey seals and porpoises. Take a bike ride along the beautiful Dysynnii Valley near Twywn - it's virtually traffic-free so completely safe for cyclists and walkers. For a bit of light refreshment, the Lamb & Flag Inn at Rhayader serves real ale and home cooked meals.

We loved the lodge, the only negative was that the oven was not working properly. The seal had broken so it took a long time to heat up. It didn't matter too much though as we ate out and got takeaways.

Date of stay: 30th October 2017
The lodge was impressive and it accommodated the six of us very comfortably. The kitchen, dining and lounge facility was cosy and sufficient for our needs. Bedrooms were a reasonable size. However, the mattresses on the bed were a little springy, so we didnt sleep well. The bedroom downstairs did get cold at night. We were disappointed that we werent allowed to bring our pet dog, as we know it would have been perfect for him too! Having said that, we did made friends with a delightful black and white cat, who was exceptionally friendly. The hot tub was an extra luxury that the family really enjoyed. The views were beautiful and the site grounds were immaculate. It was very quiet and peaceful in Penrhos Park, which was lovely. Didnt see many people at all. We were only a short drive away from Aberaeron and Aberystwyth. We went on the steam train from Aberystwyth to Devils Bridge, for Halloween - which was very spooky indeed! Highly recommend this trip. We visited the Habourmaster restaurant / pub, in Aberaeron, twice - as we enjoyed the ambience and food so much. Well worth a visit - what a lovely place. The golf facilities were great, including the driving range, which was floodlit at night. The clubhouse was a little run down and needed some attention. The swimming pool was a reasonable size, but looked tired. The tennis courts had not been maintained very well and were very slippery under foot, due to the build up of moss. Overall, it was a fabulous weekend break for the family and we would consider returning and recommending to others.

Date of stay: 30th June 2017
On arriving at our Kestral VIP lodge, we were greeted with a water leak from one of the lounge/dining area lights. This was an urgent concern due to us having a little one crawling. This was reported straight away and a handy chap came along to cut the supply of water off in that particularly area, apologizing profusely.
The cabin was very clean and a lovely view across the park. The weather unfortunately wasn't in favour for us but we made the most of the surrounding areas with beautiful settings.

Date of stay: 24th April 2017
Lovely log cabin just a few extra things would have been really good like plastic glasses to use when using the hot tub , an extra set of cutlery and dishes so you could fully load the dish washer ( I didn't use it because I thought it was a waste of water to wash just four plates etc) and maybe an extra chair in the lounge area . Not complaining we really enjoyed the log cabin and would stay here again.

Chalet very comfortable, loads of space.
Sadly lacking in a few basic kitchen items.
Very pleasant outlook[If not raining] Deck would be a pleasant place to sit.
Also 3pm is quite late to access.

Observation, would be good to have the decked area gated to allow children to play there and not wander off.

Stayed at Kestrel lodge - wonderful views and really quiet, immaculate inside, flat screen TV and dvd downstairs and TV upstairs, 3 bathrooms, dishwasher and washing machine, kitchen had all the utensils you could want and more. Hot tub - out of this world! Really clean and checked every day. Bedding, towels and toilet rolls all provided. Tips - take dishwasher tablet/washing liquid with you, washing capsule, tea towel, also dressing gown which is handy to keep by hot tub when you get out as it's cold with the change in temp getting out! Not one bad thing to say about the accommodation or country club. Can't wait to go back!

The lodge was clean and tidy and well equiped better than we'd expected, there was one issue that my daugther had which was the Wifi kept on crashing, having tried explaining to her that we were in Mid West Wales and not the Centre of London and that she should expect it to crash from time to time.

Date of stay: 3rd January 2016
We had a very nice stay in December 2015. Accommodation was very clean and tidy and the hot tub was well maintained and lovely to sit in under the stars. Only minor grip was the WIFI didn't work in the cabin but did on the varander.
The club facilities were good and we enjoyed the pool, sauna and steam room. We only ate in the restaurant once but the food was lovely, well presented and resnably priced. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Overall it was a really nice stay and we would revisit.

Date of stay: 30th November 2015
Keep returing as great site for visiting our son at university.
Date of stay: 30th November 2015
We were a little disappointed to find the floor not too clean, some of the listed equipment including the ironing board were missing. The patio door has obviously got a problem as there is a gap and being a very windy weekend there was quite a draught and we had to keep the curtain drawn throughout our visit.
Danielle, Pontypool
Date of stay: 16th November 2015
Fab place only downfall is no shop on site but there is one close by. Thoroughly enjoyed it and was not bothered the whole time which was nice and even though the lodges were next to each other you still had privacy. Would definitely do it again
Phillip, Cheshire
Date of stay: 30th October 2015
The only very small negative was the size of the second bedroom ! two very small beds and only a small wardrobe no drawers
Victoria, West Mids
Date of stay: 26th October 2015
Got to lodge late on Friday for long weekend break wowed as entered lodge great value for money kitchen excellent so decor but carpets not hoovered previous guests hair all over floor in master bedroom which my toddler rolled around in- not impressed so much with that!!! Date of stay: 27th September 2015
Fantastic caravan, so comfortable, double bonus having the two toilets, we didn't realise when booked, so lovely and warm, furnishings were so clean and tidy,we felt like the first people to use it. Everything we needed......maybe the only one tiny thing, the step upto the decking was a bit high, but not bothered too much about that. Will be back!
Amie, Rugeley
Date of stay: 25th September 2015
The eagle was a nice clean caravan and suitable for just me and my husband.
Peter, Taunton
Date of stay: 18th September 2015
Should have had some tea, coffee, milk, tea towels, dish washer tablets, washing up liquid etc there when we arrived or stated plainly on booking that it needed to be taken with us.
Also having to turn on fridge, freezer, cooker, heating (more so in winter), dish washer etc....Why?
Although not difficult to figure out it was not explained to us.
Even so very relaxing time.
Tracy, Devon
Date of stay: 12th September 2015

Very nice lodge with all the domestic facilities needed, including the hot tub. The area is fantastic and with views making the holiday complete.
Mary, Essex
Date of stay: 14th August 2015
Lovely spacious and comfortable lodge. The only thing lacking was sufficient amount of crockery and cutlery, only the bare minimum for family of four so had to keep washing up even though there was a dishwasher!
Neil, Sheffield
Date of stay: 14th August 2015
A great place to stay and a great lodge. Very disappointed that the WIFI didn't reach to the lodge on the edge of the caravan park. Good bar for meals and lovely swimming pool. None of the usual complementary welcome tea or dishwasher tabs was a disappointment but not a deal breaker. Hot tub overlooked by neighbours a little - not private. Would stay again.
Linda, Chorley
Date of stay: 8th August 2015
caravan was a little tired in places and in terms of cleaning the light fittings were dusty. It did not spoil our holiday
Simon, Tavistock
Date of stay: 8th August 2015
The caravan was very clean, and was much bigger than we thought. It was well furnished and a good size fridge and freezer.
Date of stay: 8th August 2015
We stayed in the Eagle and loved it! It was very clean, well positioned and one of the most spacious caravans we've stayed in. We were thinking of booking a log cabin but the Eagle was perfect for our long weekend.
Colin, Pontefract
Date of stay: 31st July 2015
Well equipped and easy to keep clean. All wooden floors so take some cabin slippers for inside
There was no complimentary soaps bearing in mind there are 3 toilets so take some small bars of soap or liquid soaps.
Towels and dish cloth are provided but no tea-towel, dishwasher tablets or sponge scourer so bring these too.
Claire, Blackwood
Date of stay: 31st July 2015
The pool, gym and club house is in need of modernisation. Our children enjoyed playing in the park although there could have been a few more things in there. Overall, lodge was stunning but park facilities basic. A good base to explore surrounding area.

Would have benefitted from outside chairs near the hot tub and on the balcony, also some hot tub temperature instructions. These were an inconvenience not a problem as the lodge left a very attractive impression to consider in the future.

Maybe a bit expensive but having a hot tub in the garden was sheer bliss! Think it could do with a few extra things to make the stay more enjoyable - just little useful things such as a dustpan and brush, cloths to wipe round, extra bin liners, etc. No complaints really. Loved it!

Date of stay: 5th June 2015
Mattress wasn't overly comfortable on the double bed and we found using the hand held shower attachment in the en-suite difficult. Decided to get up earlier than the kids (22 &19) and go downstairs and use the wet room for our showers, so much easier. Other than that we really enjoyed our stay, the hot tub was brilliant and the occasional fly past by the Red Kites in the area was also brilliant!

We were in need of a relaxing break and that's exactly what we got. We stayed in the Kestral VIP lodge which was so comfy with lovely sofa's to stretch out and unwind. We loved the style of the lodge which was very modern but warm and inviting. Lovely views and open space with hot tub making it a real treat. Master bedroom was lovely with doors to open onto the veranda. Not a great deal to do at this location but we really enjoyed the pool and facilities. Club house was brilliant with excellent food reasonably priced and lovely friendly staff. The park was clean and kept to a high standard. Went on a few car rides and passed lots of beautiful scenery that was breathtaking. We have been on many log cabin breaks but Penrhos Park was by far the best one yet, just loved every minute of it and will be looking to go again next year.

The lodge was excellent it was set in a great location and loved having bella the cat stay with us for the week, just a shame we could'nt take her home with us, we hope she will be there next year.
Date of stay: 6th October 2014
Was amazing however for the money that we paid i would have expected there to have provided bin liners for the days where the bins aren't collected and fairy liquid/dishwasher tablets to wash the dishes. other than that it was great.

A beautiful lodge which exceeded expectations, being only 2 of us we had lots of room to enjoy, although of course this made it slightly expensive per person with only a small reduction.only minor moans,no shelf in the on suite shower, some of the doors were sticky and difficult to lock.the beds were super comfy,a dream to sleep on.

Absolutely loved the Caravan on this Park, we have stayed in other Caravans around Britain in the past but this is by far the nicest. The park is quiet which was lovely and in a lovely location, I would seriously consider buying a Caravan here it is so nice. We could only stay 3 days unfortunately, so we didn't have a chance to use the facilities, but we went in the main building to have a look around to see what there was and it was lovely. If you are looking for a park with lots to do for children then this is not the place for you, there is a play area but that seems to be all, the pool is nice and there appeared to be a shallow portion for little ones but that seems to be all there is for them. Maybe in the height of the summer there is more happening. The park I would say is for Golf lovers and people requiring peace and quiet, I know nothing about Golf so I can't rate it I'm afraid, but it seemed popular and with the locals too.

Great accommodation - but too few plates and dishes for putting food out at there were only 6 of everything and we did a buffet of food and nothing to put them on. Also settees did not fit 6 people - but everything perfect x

Ok for what we paid but a bit bashed about the edges, a shame people who rent caravans don't look after them, lots of torn edges on the furniture, damaged wallpaper, & black on the wall under the main bedroom window from condensation. we left it cleaner than we found it. A lovely site though.

This is not for families unless you are all into golf. 10 mile drive to anything of remote interest. We had an Eagle van which was nice with separate settees rather than the traditional bench, very nice van layout. The only downside to the van was the CRT television with separate digibox, c'mon who still has this and for the prices being charged?

The lodge was fabulous, although a few minor things that would help. Instruction sheets for the heating and the oven would have been a great help. Worked it out in the end but did take a couple of days. A few additional cooking utensils would have helped as well.

Kayleigh, Swansea
Date of stay: 14th July 2014
The log cabin is absolutely breath taking and much nicer when u drive up to it, so happy we booked this for the weekend.. Wveryttibg was clean and tidy and also cosy!

One thing we didn't like but it's very minor
We had two small children with us and would have liked the whole of the back and side to be closed in as the drive heads straight out to the park site, so would have been nice to know they were dge out the back..

Also te wifi is very weak from where we were staying but like I said they are very minor issues and can't wait to go back in the winter would highly recommend this to anyone not planning in going abroad this yeah.. Such a beautifull place and settings!

After many years of holidaying at Penrhos we were very disappointed with the change in food menu, the new chef does not cater for the golfer, but to those who like having meals served on wooden battens, or in tiny wire baskets where you cannot even use your cutlery to get the food out. Menu is very limited.
Date of stay: 29th April 2014
very restful and pleasant, tennis courts were a bit tired but all in all very good.
Pam, Loughborough
Date of stay: 21st April 2014
Enjoyable welsh holiday! Fantastic site from which to explore! Pool really cold on one day, and it would be nicer to not be looked on whilst swimming. Fridge not on when we arrived and fridge door left open but otherwise really good value for money;) Comfortable and clean accommodation. We liked the fact it was a small park.

This was our third visit to Penrhos park park and we really enjoyed ourselves . It's such a lovely peaceful park for a break away from it all. The caravan was very clean and comfortable. The location is great. Lovely countryside but not too far away from the seaside and. Towns. If your into golf there's a brilliant golf course too. I would recommend this park to famlies young and old

The osprey VIP can't be faulted, it's really great, well fitted and luxury! Only minor issues, smoke alarm goes off the minute you put toast in! And kept waking all the babies! Space beds and facilities all good though within the accommodation, and hot tub great.
Leon, West Midlands
Date of stay: 17th March 2014
Absolutely fantastic, cannot wait to be visiting again this year and in the years to come.
Caravan was excellent. Really clean and modern. Site itself was quiet and clearly well looked after. Pool area was clean and tidy. The only slight negative was the gym. I’d be amazed if anything in there was less than 30 years old. Very, very basic and not worth bothering with. I appreciate this isn’t a deal breaker for many, but I always choose a site with a gym, so I personally was disappointed.
Fab park great helpful staff highly recommended
Great break with 2 young kids. Well located, good facilities. Great fun.
lovely site, staff were friendly and the park was quite.
We have visited here before and it was so nice we came back for a 2nd break! Everything was very clean the only thing I would advise is take a tea towel to dry up any plates or cups your using I can understand for hygiene regulations why they are not provided so just make sure you take your own cleaning materials :) the hot tub was fab checked everyday and extremely clean we would definitely come back again the log cabins are lovely!
Spent a lovely relaxing weekend here. The lodge was beautiful and clean with good facilities. Hot tub clean and thoroughly relaxing. The staff on site were friendly and really helpful. I would recommend this for an enjoyable weekend away.
Went with two motorcycle colleagues for a few days. Great location. Caravan Park excellent and staff helpful and friendly. Good Clubhouse, fair prices and good food. Short walk was a pub and post office/general stores and a little further a BP garage. Again, everyone helpful and friendly. We were not so lucky with the weather but nevertheless, we all enjoyed our visit,
Fantastic place, lovely staff. Wonderful holiday.
Excellent place to be. Very clean. Friendly staff. This was our 3rd visit. Love it here.

When the weather is nice this attraction is perfect as you can wander around and admire the superb range of exotic trees and shrubs.  They look different at different times of the year but one of the most popular times to see them is in Autumn.  With various events throughout the year such as Apple Weekend there is always something new to experience.  You can watch a 90 second film about this attraction on their website which is excellent.
