"Really enjoyed our stay, going back twice next year for sure!"
David - May 2024
"We really enjoyed our stay and honestly, we wish wed stayed longer! The hot tub was perfect after a day out exploring-so relaxing. The only tiny thing was the shower area felt a bit cramped, but its not a big deal. Wed definitely come back and recommend it to others without hesitation. Lovely place!"
Jamie - May 2024
"We had a lovely stay at this place, nestled in such a peaceful and private spot. The owners were super friendly and always ready to help if we needed anything, yet we still felt completely secluded. The hot tub was a real treat after a day out cycling-such a bonus! One thing to note, the cottage is right under the flight path at Stansted, so theres quite a bit of aircraft noise. It didnt bother us much once we got used to it, but if you're sensitive to noise, just keep that in mind. Overall, a great find!"
Rajiv - Mar 2024
"We had such a lovely stay! The owners were genuinely friendly and went out of their way to help us. The cottage itself is adorable, with its charming half-timbered look and a lovely, powerful shower. The cosy kitchen and comfy bed made it feel really homely. Parking right next to the cottage was a big bonus. Its warm, spotless and perfect for exploring - loads of great walks to Thaxted and nearby villages with those classic half-timbered houses and windmills. Definitely recommend!"
Samuel - Feb 2024
"We had such a lovely stay at Gimblet Rock! The place is super peaceful and relaxing - waking up to that stunning sea view right outside the caravan was just incredible. The staff were really friendly and helpful, which made everything easier. The pool and sauna were just what we needed for a bit of downtime. Well definitely be returning soon!"
Daniel - Dec 2023
"We had an enjoyable stay at this lovely spot, nestled in a peaceful, private area. The owners were super friendly and always ready to help if needed, but they kept a good distance so we felt really secluded. The hot tub was a great way to unwind after a long day of cycling. The only thing is, the cottage is directly under Stansteds flight path, so aircraft noise is quite noticeable. It didnt ruin our holiday, but its worth knowing if you're sensitive to noise. Overall, a good experience!"
Raj - Aug 2023

James - Oct 2019
"Really enjoyed our stay, perfect for relaxing and unwinding quietly."
Oliver - Sep 2019
"We had a really lovely stay! The kids couldn't get enough of the hot tub and gadgets. Perfect spot!"
Laura - Aug 2019
"We had an amazing weekend, the weather was spot on! The caravan was lovely overall, though the bedroom space was a bit tight for us. As a couple, it worked fine, but if youve got little ones or need more room for a travel cot, it might be a struggle. Apart from that, everything was spot on and we really enjoyed it!"
Sarah - Jul 2019
"Really enjoyed our stay, friendly staff and lovely place to relax."
Charlie - Apr 2019
"Really enjoyed our stay, the place had everything needed!"
Martin - Dec 2018
"Gimblet Rock is a pretty special place with breathtaking views all around and it's surprisingly spotless and well-kept. The staff really are lovely, super friendly and easy to chat to, which made our stay even better. Its usually pretty peaceful here, but unfortunately, during our relaxing afternoons on the decking, the peace was broken by some noisy construction work-tractors, a digger and dust clouds everywhere. We were out most days, so it didn't spoil everything. The drive into the site is a bit rough, passing through a rather scruffy estate with speed humps and a broken road, which is a bit of a shame since its the only route in. We didn't try the on-site restaurant, but the bar was fantastic-great views, especially from the outdoor seating, watching all the boats sail past on the river. Overall, a lovely place, just a shame about the noise sometimes!"
Lisa - Jul 2018
"Despite some rain, our holiday was quite enjoyable overall. We managed to make the most of the 8 days away, really!"
Rachel - Jun 2018
"Lovely location overlooking estuary- we stayed in lodge 18. Staff friendly and helpful and site quiet even though it was school holidays. Would stay again."
Jill - Aug 2022
"Beautiful area, clean and tidy facilities with lovely helpful staff. Restaurant was delicious. Right next to the beach so we never had to travel far. Would highly recommend and are looking forward to coming back again for another visit."
Lynsey - Jul 2022
"Amazing place very well maintained caravan lovely views and great location, very friendly and helpful staff! Beautiful place we will returning again next month"
Nikolay - Jul 2022
"Stayed here for a long weekend in one of the pods which have a private hottub. Although the pods are small it was ok for me and my partner. We would highly recommend and would definitely visit again. Location is good too"
Tracy - Jul 2022
"The caravan park was exceptionally clean and tidy, the pool amazing, although only 10 meters in length. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The park was very quiet and all the other people were friendly and chatty. We didn’t use the restaurant as they were closed due to a change in the menu."
