Pen Y Clawdd is a stunning Welsh lodge tucked away in Beggar's Bush hamlet near Presteigne, Powys. This lovely Welsh retreat enjoys superb valley views and sits right by the historic Offa's Dyke Path, with its famous ancient earthworks. This is a proper all-timber lodge both inside and out and has a unique look and feel you only get from wood.

The countryside setting is just as spectacular as the lodge. Watch forest pigs roam freely in the nearby forest, all from your private hot tub! Red Kites soar overhead and regular bird visitors make this a wildlife and bird-watching paradise. You're just 3.8 miles from shops and 3.7 miles from the nearest pub and The Elan Valley is only 30 minutes away. This is a good booking if you're into walking, cycling or just want to reconnect with nature and chill!

Inside you'll find three well-furnished bedrooms including a double, twin and single. There's a ground-floor shower room plus an upstairs bathroom under sloped ceilings (mind your head after a few beers). The country-style kitchen has everything needed and the bright sitting/dining room is perfect for family meals.

You're spoiled for choice with days out. Explore Presteigne (3.8 miles) with its cobbled streets and award-winning Judges' Lodgings museum. Visit Hay-on-Wye (25 miles) for bookshops or Llandrindod Wells (18 miles) for unique museums.

Queenswood Country Park has a stunning location offering panoramic views of the countryside. The area is abundant with wildlife and you can see how many species you can spot while enjoying the nature trails. The park also has a large children play area and a licensed café. Seasonal activities can be enjoyed during school holidays and at peak times of the year including Halloween events and crafting sessions as well as ranger led walks.
Lama Trekking at Old king Street Farm - NP16 6AA

Puzzlewood is a somewhat unique attraction within the beautiful Forest of Dean. Visitors can explore the mile of pathways passing over wooden bridges and through some stunning tree and rock formations. The maze of pathways are quite enchanting and the site has recently been used as a location for the BBC1 production of Merlin. While enjoying the splendour of nature there are many types of wildlife to meet along the way including Shetland ponies, Donkeys and Highland Cattle.
