We love Valley View Lodge, a two storey luxury lodge with panoramic views across the Welsh countryside. It has two bedrooms, a spacious lounge / kitchen / dining area with a paved patio and outdoor hot tub. The king sized double bedroom has an en-suite shower - and with a reading room on the second floor, there's plenty of space for four people.

A trip to the pretty town of Llanidloes makes for a lovely day out - surrounded by mountain scenery, it's popular with wildlife enthusiasts, walkers and horse riders, plus there are plenty of pubs to choose from.

"We had an incredible time at this lodge! The views and surroundings are truly breathtaking and the host was super friendly and welcoming. The pellet burner was such a clever idea - no fuss, no mess, just cosy warmth. We also appreciated the thoughtful touches like fresh milk, eggs, bread and a great coffee selection; it made breakfast feel special. The only thing to note is that the sofa could do with replacing soon, but honestly, it didnt spoil our stay. Well definitely be back!"
Ellie Morgan - Nov 2019

"We had such a lovely escape from the busy daily grind. Being surrounded by peaceful, stunning scenery really made our break special. The lodge was cosy and had everything we needed, making it feel like a proper retreat. Waking up to pheasants wandering about and watching the kites soaring was a real treat. The walk up the hill offered amazing views and honestly, the hot tub was the perfect finishing touch. Wed definitely return!"

"Honestly, this place is a bit of a good place. The wildlife is fantastic and it's so peaceful with just a handful of sheep nearby. We really loved it and didnt want to leave! Would definitely stay again."
Emma - Feb 2019
"We spent a week at this lodge from late February into early March and honestly, it was a lovely escape. From the moment we arrived, the place was warm, spotless and fully equipped - everything from towels and toilet rolls to cutlery and cleaning supplies was there, which was a nice touch. The wifi was pretty decent too, clocking in at around 10mbps, so we could stream and stay connected easily. The hot tub was a real highlight, especially with its built-in radio and Bluetooth, making relaxing evenings even better. The lodge is heated by a bio boiler that runs on pellets, which need topping up roughly every 12 hours, but they were all supplied and kept topped up by the hosts at no extra cost, so no worries there. The surrounding scenery is stunning, with plenty of fields and hill walks to enjoy. Outside the lodge, there's a pond where animals come and go all day and night, which kept us entertained. Its about a 10-15 min drive into Newtown, where there are shops, takeaways and even a cinema if you fancy a night out. Inside the lodge, there's a handy book with contact numbers for local takeaways and taxi services, which was useful. We were there during a heavy snowstorm and the owner, Paul, couldnt have been more helpful. He offered us a lift into town when our car was stuck and went out of his way to clear the snow around the lodge and grit the road so we could get out. Throughout the week, his customer service was consistently excellent. Were definitely planning to return soon - it was a proper cosy retreat with great hosts!"
Sam - Mar 2018
"We had a wonderful week in Pool View Lodge, the fist thing we noticed was the cleanliness, the lodge was so comfortable the hot tub was fantastic, we would definitely go back. We definitely recommend."
Deborah - Aug 2022
"The lodges are in a beautiful setting with a stunning view. They positioned well apart. The area was well placed for visiting the things we wanted to do. Not too far from the Mach Loop (about 45 mins) if that is a destination aim!"
Andrea - Jul 2022
"Very peaceful and relaxing setting and very well kept."
Christine - Jun 2022
"Came here with 3 others & had a good few days, location was spot on & lodge with lovely. Will defo be coming back in the near future. Will stay for longer next time though :) 10 out of 10!"

"The owners have created something very special here. We stayed 7 nights in Valley View Lodge and the lodge and surroundings are exceptional. We wanted somewhere where we could just relax, unwind and chill out in peace & quiet - we were not disappointed and didn't want leave on our final day. We will definitely be booking a return stay or two or three."

"Best holiday"
June - May 2022
"If you are looking for total peace and tranqulity Slate House Lodges is the place for you. Slightly off the beaten track but still have access to shops and supermarkets within a 10 minute drive. The communication prior to our arrival was fantastic and any questions we had were answered promptly. The first thing that hits you when you arrive is the silence and the stunning views. We stayed in Pool View and were very luck with the weather. The added bonus of the hot tub, was very welcome and used every day to relax. The lodge has everyting you need for a few days away and was spotlessly clean. Would highly recommend Slate house lodges ."
Karen - May 2022
"So peaceful with great accommodation"
Joanne - May 2022
"One of the best places I've stayed. Stands out as how holiday accommodation should be done. Congrats to the owners."
Julie - May 2022
"Thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Ivy Tree Lodge. Beautiful location, remote enough for complete peace and quiet, but only 20 minutes to nearest town (Newtown). Plenty to do and see locally with great walks, reservoirs and waterfalls. Yet an hour or so drive through some incredible countryside to some bigger resorts (Aberystwyth, PorthMadog etc). Our Hosts Paul and Holly (just up the hill) were very helpful and friendly. Take books and board games if you are taking teenagers. They will love the hot-tub, but may complain about the basic free-view on the TV and the WiFi not being strong enough to stream! Highly recommended destination for those that want modern, well equipped accommodation in a truly secluded and beautiful location."
