Christine, Lydney
Date of stay: 10th September 2018
Lodge was very good. Only suggestion is electric sockets needed either side of beds in 2nd bedroom.
Bethan, Swindon
Date of stay: 8th September 2018
I think there a number of things that could be done in the lodge in order to make this 5 star
(from 4) accommodation in my mind. For example, the varnish on the table has become very tacky and therefore nothing could be placed on the surface without it sticking and potentially damaging the item, the back of the tv remote was missing, the lino in the dining / lounge area was starting to bubble, the toilet roll holder in the ensuite was loose. The main thing however was a lack of instructions regarding operation of the tv (the fact that the scart had to be switched between freeview and DVD, with neither connected when we arrived, the heating operation and the jacuzzi operation.
Sonya, Wolverhampton
Date of stay: 3rd September 2018
Lodge and surrounding were brilliant. The only thing that could be improve would be to leave a manual for the jacuzzi as we had to wait for quite a while for the temperature to heat up and it was abit noisy next to the bedroom.
Heidi, Irlam
Date of stay: 3rd September 2018
Great chill out time

Date of stay: 20th August 2018
The lodge was fantastic, very clean and well equipped - the welcome basket was a lovely surprise and a very nice touch.

Had a lovely relaxing afternoon in the hot tub and sitting on the veranda.

The only reason we didn't give a 10 was there was no wifi or sky TV (we did know this before we booked).
Lee, Walsall

Date of stay: 3rd August 2018
Overall a fantastic holiday. The only possible improvements could be a cash point onsite and a slightly larger park. Accommodation, surroundings and staff are spot on... we would definitely recommend
Corinne, Dunfermline
Date of stay: 7th July 2018
Idyllic, peaceful lodge beside a lovely pond. Very comfortable lodge. Loved relaxing on the wooden veranda reading or doing puzzles or simply enjoying the peace. The only complaint was one night people in a nearby private lodge played loud, horrible music, that was simply out of place with the surroundings. Manager said we should have phoned. But we felt they should have walked around at night to check things are relatively peaceful. Like other holiday sites do! But apart from that it was lovely and peaceful the rest of the time.
Mary, Abergele
Date of stay: 6th July 2018
I will definitely go back. The weather was too hot for my older dog which makes a change but we didn't need to go far. My mother and brother visited us for a day as she only lives an hour away and bought us local produce in from Ludlow. I.e. Ham , brown bread, cheeses and pork pies. I know this may sound unhealthy but goodness me the salads and all these foods are of the best quality. I would also strongly recommend the salad packs for sale at the site shop.
Stuart, Brierley Hill

Staff were so helpful and greeted us with a very genorous welcome pack, which was a bonus. The lodge was immaculate and had everything we needed. The hottub was cleaned every day and was very relaxing, as it was in a private location. All the holiday owners were friendly too. We had plenty of laughs on this holiday and would definitely visit here again in the near future. I would recommend this lodge and Ashlea pools to anyone who wanted peace and picturesque landscapes

Very comfortable lodge, nicely decorated and really well equiped. There even was children cutlery and cups! The beds were comfortable and the lodge was overall very clean. It would need a bit of maintenance as some items are suffering from wear and tear (curtains missing some rings, one shelf a bit wobbly, for example) but it was nevertheless really high standard and we really enjoyed our stay!

I agree with one of the previous comments made that the cabin is looking a little tired BUT boy do they have great cleaners - the place was slick and span. I could not find a speck of dust! The bed clothes and towels were of excellent standard. There was everything you needed in terms of cooking facilities. The oven and microwave looked brand new. In our cabin there is no washing machine as stated on one of the websites but an adequate freezer. There is also a separate fridge.
The hot tub is fabulous and you are hidden from neighbours.
The welcome pack is a lovely touch and the owners think of everything.
There is a reception / shop on site. There is also a separate laundry room which I think is accessible to all?
You are right next to the railway line and the train passes through several times a day. The first morning I heard it but after then I must have slept like a log as never heard it again.
This was a return trip and it's great to see the work being carried out on the site. We will definitely be back to see how things look in due course.

Mandarin Plus lodge no.3 very cosy, well equipped, hot tub a great addition. Limited Sky tv channels but not the end of the world and no phone/internet signal. On site free wifi though at reception.

Lacked space to store non refrigerated food and an awning would have been nice to provide shelter over the hot tub when it rained as your face pelted with rain isn't a nice feeling. Previous reviews state not all the jets work in the hot tub but they do if you use the different dials around the edge.

Welcome pack of tea, coffee, sugar, bread, butter, cookies and pick & mix sweets was an excellent touch.

All in all warm, centrally heated cosy lodge and the little christmas tree was very sweet. Good facilities, nice and clean on arrival, great chill out base.

Despite being the most basic lodge, Mandarin was more than adequate for a short break for two. The living area was roomy and veranda was lovely to sit out on in good weather.
I was pleasantly surprised with level of cleanliness within the lodge; the carpets, linen, kitchen and bathroom well all pristine. The view from the veranda out onto the fishing pool was lovely to walk out to each morning.

Only one complaint about the Goldcrest lodge and that is the tv. Fantastic big 3D smart tv with standard digital reception(You don't get all the channels), but the satellite TV is in the bedroom on a small TV.
May I suggest that the satellite be attached to the big TV, I'm sure this would be appreciated by the guests.

We booked up quite late for a stay in a Mandarin plus chalet. From the moment we arrived we were made to feel very welcome including the very nice comfort pack of local goods. The site is very nicely set out, tranquil and peaceful. The chalet is really first class, impeccably clean and very well appointed throughout. If your wanting a good base camp from which to explore, book this place. The hot tub was a lovely touch. Excellent quality all around.

We stayed in Mandarin Lodge. Extremely comfortable and it had everything you could wish for in a holiday lodge.
Ample sized lounge with leather sofa's, a good sized television and dvd player, dining table and four chairs. The bedrooms are small but room aplenty for a couple. The bed was very comfortable and we both slept soundly.
The balcony was spacious with enough room for a table and chairs. A highlight was going out first thing in the morning to look at the antics of the ducks and black swans on the lake.

We had a fantastic mid week away with our 3 small children (aged 7,4 and 2) The lodge it’s self was fantastic lots of space and a very well stocked kitchen. We all enjoyed the site we used the play area and went fishing and enjoyed local walks. We hired a bike for our 7 year old and our younger 2 had taken scooters. The shop was well stocked and the staff were very helpful we left a child’s blanket behind and Ashley pools halpkey posted it back to us! All in all it was a lovely stay and we hope to visit again
Chris
If you want a nice relaxing break then this has to be on your list. All the staff were great and the Welcome Basket was a great surprise. On site there was a small shop which had the essentials you would need. So to sum up will definitely visit again at some point.
