Ashby Woulds Lodges and Spa Reviews

"The lodge was very nice. It was a 3 bedroom lodge each with its own bathroom. The man welcomed us and we were happy during our stay."
Michelle - Jun 2024
"Sofa needs replacing and main double door didn't lock"
Diane - Jun 2024
"Spacious, clean, fully equipped. There was nothing I needed that was not already supplied. Comfy bed and pillows, lots of towels and dressing gowns for use at the hot tub, which was ready to go on my arrival."
Allan - Jun 2024
"Quiet park with good lodges and hot tubs, spacious rooms and bedrooms with an ensuite and separate bathroom. Good size living area, kitchen and dining area, large patio doors (2 sets) opening onto a decked area with outdoor furniture."
Sara - Jun 2024
"The lodges need updating. They look really tired. On our last day we had to be out for 09:30 which is fine but the staff was outside our lodge emptying our hot tub right outside our window to the bedroom at about 8:30 when we where trying to get ready. Why can't they wait until we are gone, like everywhere else."
Jake - May 2024
"Absolutely lovely place with great facilities. The camp site is beautiful and very quiet. We had an issue with the hot tub not working and a guy came down within the hour to fix it. The rooms are really spacious and the place was very clean. They dont post the kitchen utensils online so we were very unsure of what to bring but its a fully equipped kitchen with everything you need from wine glasses to a siv, cheese grater and even place mats for the table. They provide washing up supplies, as well as supplies for a washing machine and dishwasher. Milk was provided in the fridge and tea and coffee. The only thing you will need to bring is toilet roll as we werent given full rolls and they didnt last long. Everything looked lovely and we had everything we needed, thoroughly enjoyed our weekend here."
Amber - May 2024
"Good overall"
Fred - May 2024
"After spending 4 days here, I absolutely fell on my feet with the weather! Every day was bright, beautiful sunshine, which made my stay extra special. Overall, I had a lovely, relaxing stay in beautiful countryside, seeing lots of wildlife, sunsets and peacefulness. The lodge itself ( Altham ) is in a wonderful spot, overlooking two fishing lakes and in the top corner. All day sunshine and not overlooked in most areas. Facilities were wonderful, the freestanding bath tub being my favourite as well as the bright pink chaise longe! However, I do think the lodge (now obviously a good few years old) needs tlc. There were more than a few things that need attention. There was a loose decking board just next to the steps which could have been lethal, no planting next to the lodge ( just bare soil ) which was disappointing and the lack of a gate which would have afforded much more privacy whilst in the hot tub ( which desperately needs replacing !! ) I do think as a seasoned lodge stayer, this is the oldest hot tub I've used. The jets were not great, barely bubbling and I couldn't get the light to work. The keypad very worn. The lid was ridiculously heavy for just a lone lady traveller for most of my stay and hose pipes just left strewn on the decking which was an obvious hazard and unnecessary. So, to be honest the hot tub wasn't used much as it just didnt feel as luxurious as it should. It was checked at strange times too, like mid afternoon one day which I've never experienced before. Going back to the tlc, please, please bin the pillows!!!! All 4 were like wafers, just absolutely past their best! Giving me neck ache despite using two! Other than that, the bed was comfy. Blinds need replacing too as one was broken whilst the other barely closed, so light streamed in early morning. The bathroom was wonderful, but the vanity unit was very tired and the laminate coming away. The kitchen was well equipped, clean but very smeary on the glass hob when I arrived. Pans etc were not great quality and again, tired. Bigger bowls were needed as eating cereal out of a dolls teaset bowl was ridiculous!! The mugs were also not all matching which is a shame.Maybe a speaker to link phones to, and a chrome cast TV would have made my stay better too. I think for this price point, mod cons should be available. There were so many beautiful walking routes to explore, a caf within a ten minute walk, co op 2mins drive away, everything is there for a wonderful stay but like I say, there were a few things that need attention with the lodge, that and the very late checkin time of 5pm and early 9.00am check out which makes me shy from the full 5 stars."

"A very nice lodge, with sufficient equipment for 6 guests & very clean & well maintained throughout. The addition of a hot tub was very welcome as we had good weather during our stay."
Elaine - May 2024

"Holiday overall enjoyable"
Verified Guest - Apr 2024
"What an amazing place! So tranquil and well maintained. The hot tub was a great addition and very private. The kitchen are very well equipped everything we could have asked for. We had an issue with the heating on the first morning and the staff were brilliant and sorted very quickly. Only negative I would have would be the early leave time as you need to be out by 9am but not the end of the world! We will definitely be visiting again."
Abi - Apr 2024
"What a great place and location Lodge was lovely just a shame you cannot use the hot tub until the next day after arrival not entirely sure why they empty the hot tub every time surely the chemicals used nowadays would be enough!! We all had a treatment by jasmine she was amazing best massage we have ever had definitely recommend thank you"
Verified Guest - Apr 2024
"Great place to stay. Spa room is fantastic, well worth the visit."
Verified Guest - Apr 2024
"We booked as a group of 4 and had the worse experience. On our first when used the bathroom which was around 10pm I got stuck in the en-suite bathroom as the lock wouldnt turn properly. We called the site number in the welcome pack only to be told I dont know what you want me to dot at this time of the night, I dont have anyone on siteI can understand that the situation was unfortunate but I was starting to have a panic attack at the thought of being stuck in there all night and when asked if she expected me to spend the night in a bathroom she could only answer with I dont know what I can do. We pressed her more to find a resolution so she said she would try and call someone. In the meantime, we tried to see if I could possibly climb out of the bathroom window but it was just too small so we called back many times to the site number for an update only to realise she had switched the phone off and we no longer had any contact with her. Fortunately after sometime I managed to unlock the door and we did message back as a courtesy but quite frankly we were disgusted with the lack of empathy for the situation, the total lack of communication and want to know why its deemed appropriate to turn off what should be an emergency contact because you just dont know what to do? No message was passed on to the lady at reception next day either, no one checked on us to see if I was ok?After speaking to a weekend who passed my details to a manager and we received a call from the owner directly who was rude and provided no apology. While speaking on the phone to us he did not seem that bothered and was rude when trying to speak to him he decided to hang up on us. We never heard anything back from him."
Mani - Apr 2024
"Clean lodge and very well equipped."
Verified Guest - Mar 2024
"Lovely welcome, heating had been put on ready for our arrival, hot tub was steaming hot so we could use straight away, tranquil setting over looking the river.Great location for some R&R"
Yvette - Feb 2024
"The holiday was beautiful needed a break and this place was the perfect spot. I would highly recommend. The children loved it as well."
Verified Guest - Feb 2024
"The lodge is really comfortable - well laid out and open planned. The hot tub was lovely and hot (although not ready the first night) and is completely surrounded and so private. The grounds are very peaceful and well laid out. The check in/out times were slightly disappointing: we couldn't check in until 5pm and had to be out by 9am. Also the taking of a £150 security deposit is unnerving especially as we noticed damage already there (we did inform staff who made a note of what we had found)."
Kelly - Feb 2024
"Great location, well equipped clean chalet with hot tub. Welcome pack. Would be happy to return. A couple of minor issues but generally all OK."
Floss - Feb 2024
"The lodge was better than expected, the pictures dont do this justice. The surroundings are beautiful and peaceful. The lodges cleanliness was better than expected, everything we could need and more. The welcome pack had everything we could need to know and more."
Danielle - Feb 2024
"Excellent great value will definitely stay again. Highly recommended"
Griffin Fallon - Feb 2024
"Had a lovely 2 night stay here had all the facilities we needed was impressed with the fact they had the full sky tv package in living room and bedroom for when we was relaxing before bed. My only criticism of the place is that you cant check in till 5pm and then have to be gone at 9am of day of leaving which made are stay extremely short and on first evening the hot tub wasnt very warm."
Nicole - Feb 2024
"We had a lovely week at the lodge, with a lovely massage at the start"
Verified Guest - Jan 2024
"Enjoyed the weekend break in the lodge. The hot tub is a nice extra."
Verified Guest - Jan 2024
"First off we would definitely visit again, but only if certain improvements were made. I have tried to list the positives and negatives below. Negatives: By far the biggest issue is the decking. I actually went through it next to the hot tub whilst in my swimshorts and nearly injured myself. The positive side was that after reporting it the onsite maintenance team who were very friendly came and made it safe straight away. Unfortunately the whole decking is in a bit of a sorry state and needs replacing. There were several unsafe areas that looked like they might collapse or could catch your feet because planks were raised. Other issues were that one of the sofas was completely knackered, the springs had gone so it was like sitting on the floor, and then the general fittings in the place needed a bit of a do over (the blind in one of the bathrooms for example was hanging off the wall and couldnt be adjusted up or down). Apart from the decking I would say they are all minor things though.Positives:The staff all seemed very friendly and the location is great, the views over the lake at the back were excellent. Its a relatively dark skies area so good for star gazing if you get a clear night. The hot tub was nice and toasty and cleaned daily, although a net to get rid of small bits of twig etc would have been nice. It wasn't warm until the following day after arrival and was emptied at about 8am on the day we left, so thats something to consider if on short stays. We stayed when it was freezing temperatures outside but the heating in the place was more than sufficient and kept us warm all week."

"Lovely lodge you could have been a million miles away so peaceful and quiet."
Tracy - Jul 2022
"Amazing pleace 100%"
Katarzyna - Jul 2022
"We had a lovely break the lodge was spotlessly clean lovely soft towels provided, plenty of wardrobe space in both rooms. The beds were comfy. Hot tub checked and cleaned each day. My only negative is the kitchen knives were very blunt so struggled to even slice a tomato but that's the only negative I could state we had a lovely time and would definitely go back again."
Kerry - Jul 2022
"My third time here and I absolutely love it!"
Verified Guest - Jun 2022

Kelly - Jun 2022
"Beautiful lodge in very peaceful setting. Nice walk along the lake/river. Hot tub was fab. Ian the staff was so helpful. A really lovely break."

"This is our second stay at Ashby woulds and we would stay again. The local area is nice with things to do- it’s close enough to town for takeaways or dinner out and the lodges are in a nice private gated park which made us feel safe. It’s very laid back and quiet and the hot tub is lovely!"
