Thanet Well Lodge Retreat Reviews

"Will definitely be revisiting."
Verified Guest - Nov 2023
"Quiet location for a family get together with a dog Location is peacefulThere is not much around to walk to but we did know this from the site information"
Verified Guest - Nov 2023
"Positives:Spacious and modern lodge.Great location and views of the northern mountains.Couples setup in our Elonby 1 lodge was excellent, the bathroom had 2 sinks and a rain shower with a separate roll top bath. Clean and comfortable Negatives:WiFi is so poor it is unusable, Given the mobile signal is patchy here, you'd think they would have routers in each lodge.Small 2 seater sofa, not very comfortable but ok for a short stay. No soap or shower gel in the bathroom. Overall, highly recommend and we would happily return."
Verified Guest - Nov 2023
"Enjoyed our break despite storm Agnes!!! Well located to visit Keswick Penrith Carlisle and the Lake District. Site is very tranquil but lacks some facilities I would expect on a luxury holiday. Shop very basic and no facilities on site. The staff were very good and helpful."
Verified Guest - Nov 2023
"Beautiful countryside and handy location just let down by tlc needed to what could be a lovely lodgeThere were splash marks that were either tea or coke on the skirting board and up the blind in the living area and the kitchen counter top still had crumbs on it as had the floor in the kitchen. The lodge itself was lovely to look at and had alot of potential to be amazing but needs some love. It had marks on the wall in the hall and the wallpaper in both bedrooms had a bit off it at the headboards. Outside on the patio there were lots of weeds growing between the patio stones again could be easily rectified. We have been to the sister site to this at Keswick reach a few times and the cleanliness was far superior. It's such a shame because we were expecting it to be of the same standard and it could be with a little tlc."

"First time staying in this lodge and it didn't disappoint. Very comfortable and everything you could possibly need for a lovely stay"
Sarah - Nov 2023
"The accomodation was well equipped and spotlessly clean - well done to the cleaning team. Hit tub was clean and chemicals checked each day. We had a great week."
Richard - Nov 2023
"Could have been a great lodge . But it lacked proper cleanliness"
O.C - Nov 2023
"Place was amazing, very spacious and warm and inviting. Very clean and the location was amazing, good views and easy access, could not ask for more."
Nicholas Diesel - Nov 2023
"Brilliant week away"
Margaret - Nov 2023
"We would most definitely return to this quiet little gem of a retreat and if you like star gazing and its a cloud free night, there is so little light pollution that the stars looked amazing from our hot tub. This lodge was perfect for our family and we had plenty of room to relax, eat and sleep for the whole weekend."
Lisa - Nov 2023
"Lovely clean and comfortable"
Linda - Nov 2023
"Very peaceful"
Harvey - Nov 2023
"Will be looking for some were new next year. Been going to Thanetwell for a long time (6+ week stays over 10 years). This year the state of the lodge we had was very disappointing, dirty, walls had questionable splash marks, bathrooms were no better, window blinds almost falling off there mounts when touched, bathroom tap tops turned around so you could not see the holes left behind were the levers were supposed to be. DVD player missing, and on complaining the supplied a broken old player, on complaining a 2nd time they supplied a old unit without a remote. Toaster did not work, they did replace that with a new toaster, toilets did not flush properly etc. etc. etc. All said we will be looking for somewhere else next year, shame it was a lovely tranquil place that's been let go to ruin by managment."
Gordon - Nov 2023
"Great holiday in a great lodge in a great location within the Lakes"
Edward - Nov 2023
"The lodge was warm and rooms were clean and well equipped. The bed was comfy and the bedrooms had lots of cupboard space. Great layout of the kitchen and lounge. Loved the surrounding countryside. The staff were friendly and helpful."
Carys - Nov 2023
"This is my third time staying here at Thanet Well. Beautiful and very quiet area with stunning surroundings. Unfortunately though there was nothing premier about the lodge we stayed in. It was old and worn and needs some TLC really. Broken bed and knackered mattress, mouldy areas in the en-suite shower enclosure, burn marks to the bedroom carpet, sockets hanging off the wall in the living area, dirty paintwork. The hot tub was a lovely addition which was checked by staff daily. We got this lodge at a good, reduced, late deal price, it didnt spoil our week away at all, after the initial disappointment at the lodge and we will certainly return to Thanet Well in the future, however not to this particular lodge and especially not at its full price."
Carol - Nov 2023
"Booked as a last minute get away for a few days, the most relaxing place to beVery clean, great value for money will definitely be booking again"
Caitlin - Nov 2023
"Very good lodges"
Barbara - Nov 2023
"The lodge is lovely but internet or mobile coverage is very poor. The hot tub cover needs to be fixed as its very difficult to lift it up"
ANA - Nov 2023
"We had a lovely time. Spending our days exploring the Lakes, dog in tow, and thoroughly enjoying the good weather, which was better than forecast. We learnt that the weather situation can change quickly from day to day. Keswick ended up being our favourite, especially Hope Park, as it is delightful and the dog loved being able to swim. However, Honister Pass was breathtaking and we wont forget that."
Sean - Oct 2023
"Nice lodge, lovely quiet site. Made friends with the local cat. It stalks in the grass, but it quite friendly, will be back."
Claire - Oct 2023
"Some damage from previous guest who simply didnt care"
Jane - Jul 2023
"Old and dated and dirty. Not sure I actually got what I paid for certainly didnt look like the picture. Wanted to cry when I got there our lodge was shabby with ripped wall paper and cobwebs down all the radiators. Park very cramped dont go expecting lots of green spaces and beautiful views."
Naomi - May 2023
"Nice Lodge, one of the older lodges on site but still nice.Slightly dated"
Chris - Jan 2023

Attractions Near Thanet Well Lodge Retreat

Here are some of the activities and experiences you can enjoy on your visit to Thanet Well Lodge Retreat. If you discover a worthy inclusion to this list on your hot tub break, please let us know and we'll add it so that other visitors can enjoy it too.
Lake District Wildlife Park - CA12 4RD
about 11 Miles
We love this day out in Cumbria where you're encouraged to "take a fresh look".  Some of the amazing animals you will get to see include the only Canadian Lynx in the UK and you will have the opportunity to help their Lynx Conservation Project.  The Asian Fishing Cat is also well worth a look - these cats are known for diving under the water and catching fish!  Other activities include fantastic flying displays and play areas for the little ones...
Ullswater Steamers - CA11 0US
about 11 Miles
This is an award winning Lake District attraction and they have been operating cruisers on Lake Ullswater for over 150 years.  There is no better way to explore the lakes than on water and you could even combine a cruise with a spectacular walk.  For great days out in this region then this attraction is highly recommended and will appeal to couples as well as families.  Corporate groups are also well catered for.
Tullie House Museum & Art Gallery - CA3 8TP
about 12 Miles
This is a museum and art gallery in one and will suit those looking for an educational and cultural day out.  You can explore the fantastic art collection including Fine Art, Decorative Art and Textiles.  If you love nature then this aspect of Tullie House will appeal. The museum holds large and important collections of zoological, botanical and geological material. And for lovers of history there is plenty to wet your appetite here. Tullie House collects a wide range of historic materials including objects, ephemera (printed material), photographs and associated information files.  We think this museum and art gallery are excellent value for money as well.
Rydal Mount & Gardens - LA22 9LU
about 17 Miles
Rydal Mount & Gardens are wonderfully situated between Lake Windermere and Rydal Water offering breathtaking scenery. The home of William Wordsworth from 1813 - 1850 the grand home is now lived in by the poets descendents but parts of the house and grounds are open to the public. Why not take a guided tour and see the rooms where many of the famous poems were written. The gardens are beautiful at all times of the year but in the summer offer a spectacular display of colour. There is also a gallery and a tearoom. Discounts are available for group bookings.
Mabie Farm Park - DG2 8EZ
about 35 Miles
Mabie Farm Park is a firm favourite. Ideal for families with younger children ,this family oriented farm park has lots of animals to meet and also offers Donkey Rides, Paddle Boats and Slides as well as Trampolines and Bouncy Castles. Kids can run around on the Soft Play Area while mum and dad relax in the Tea Room. There is also a Farm Shop onsite selling toys, gifts and fresh local produce including cakes and jams. Seasonal activities can also be enjoyed including a spookly tea and walk on Haloween. The Farm closes for the winter on October 31st.
Lakeland Wildlife Oasis - LA6 1JH
about 36 Miles
Located in the Milnthorpe area of Cumbria we love this local attraction.  With an eclectic mix of fascinating wildlife and hands on displays this centre is educational as well as fun.  You can wander around at leisure admiring the exhibits which range from chameleons to computers. Some of the most threatened species are kept at the park as part if international breeding programmes.  Check out their website for the latest opening times and admission costs which are great value for money.  There are discounts for pre-booked parties of 12 or more.
Kielder Water Bird of Prey Centre - NE48 1BT
about 36 Miles
Housing the most fascinating collection of Birds of Prey in the North East this centre is definitely worth a visit if you are staying in the Kielder Water area. Located in Falstone it's easy to get to and makes a great day out for both families and couples.  As well as seeing the amazing birds you can learn all about the captive breeding programme and the excellent work being done there.  Some of the highlights of the day might include watching a Falcon stoop down from the skies at over 100mph and admiring the grace of the Eagles, Kites and Hawks.
South Lakes Safari Zoo - LA12 0LU
about 38 Miles

This is an amazing Cumbria attraction well known locally as well as nationally for how close you can get to the animals.  Described as the most interactive animal park in Europe it's well worth a visit if you are staying in the area.  Open from April to end October some of the highlights are the tigers, penguins, bears, hippos and rhinos.  At 2pm during certain seasons it's feeding time so don't forget to plan your day around this so you can watch the animals enjoying their feed.  Look out for seasonal events such as Halloween Zoo Boo (free entry for kids in fancy dress) and The Magic of Christmas.
