"We stayed at this place recently and honestly, the setting was lovely, really peaceful. The only downside was the surrounding area around our lodge was quite muddy, probably because the sites still developing. Parking was a bit of an issue too - it wasnt very close, so lugging bags back and forth was a bit of a pain! Sadly, we didnt get to enjoy the facilities like wed planned, which was a bit disappointing. Our daughter had an accident on the first night, so she couldnt use the pool or hot tub, which was a real shame. The staff and management, though, were fantastic - very helpful and caring after what happened. They really looked after us, which we appreciated. The main reason for our trip was to celebrate my birthday, but unfortunately, that didnt happen due to my daughters accident. The manager did offer us a free drink at the hotel bar, which was a nice gesture, even though we were too exhausted after a night at urgent care. Under better circumstances, it wouldve been a perfect break!"

"We stayed at this lodge recently and honestly, its perfect for a chill weekend. The hot tub was a lovely touch and the place felt really modern and spacious. Its not the place if youre after loads to do, but thats kind of the point - just to relax. A few downsides though: the cooking gear is pretty limited, just one tray, so we brought our own bits. Also, the outside lighting by the hot tub was a bit of a pain, had to use the indoor lights. Location isnt ideal if you want to explore, but theres a McDonald's, KFC and Starbucks about 15 mins away if you fancy a quick bite. All in all, a nice getaway spot!"

"Our first trip with the little one was quite special and overall, we really enjoyed it. The lodge itself was lovely, but honestly, a few small things couldve been better. The en-suite toilet wasnt flushing properly and the lamps in the bedrooms only worked sometimes, which was a bit frustrating. The only clock in the lodge was broken too. One thing we found a bit tricky was not knowing beforehand if WiFi was available-we didnt have it, so searching for local spots was a bit of a hassle. Still, we left feeling happy with our stay!"

"We stayed at a pet-friendly lodge recently and honestly, it was quite a mixed bag. First off, the staff really stood out - every single person we met was super friendly and helpful, which made check-in and check-out a breeze. The location was just what we were after: peaceful, secluded and perfect for relaxing away from the hustle. Plus, with no phone signal, the free WiFi was a lifesaver - decent speed and reliable throughout our stay.Now, onto some of the not-so-great bits. The lodge was meant for up to six, but the kitchen equipment was pretty limited for that many people. We had to buy extra dishes just to cook properly, which was a bit of a hassle. The doors definitely need some TLC - the front door squeaked loudly and wouldnt close properly without using the handle, which felt odd. The back porch door was a nightmare, jamming constantly and the lock looked like it was on its last legs, making us worried about whether it was secure enough. The knives were another let-down; many were blunt or had dints, making cooking a bit frustrating. The carpets showed a lot of stains, probably due to the pet-friendly policy, but a good deep clean wouldnt go amiss. Lastly, the beds werent the most comfortable; we could really feel the springs, which made sleeping a bit tricky.Overall, despite the few issues, we enjoyed our stay thanks to the lovely staff and the peaceful setting. Wouldnt mind returning, but some things could definitely do with an upgrade!"

"Honestly, we had a lovely stay here. The cottage is tucked away on a working farm, but it's surprisingly private and quiet. The owners, Robert and Sharon, are so friendly and welcoming. Inside, its really spacious with well-equipped kitchen and bathroom areas. The bed was super comfy, which was a bonus after long walks. The garden is perfect for dogs, totally secluded and nicely furnished. There are plenty of nearby walks and Thaxted has some great restaurants like The Star and The Maypole - wed definitely recommend this place!"

"We got a call around 2pm telling us the lodge was ready a bit earlier than expected, which was a nice surprise. Checking in was straightforward-signposted clearly and only took a few minutes. They handed us a key, a map and directions to the lodge. We also had to give our vehicle registration since the barrier uses ANPR and we paid a £50 deposit upfront. Getting to the lodge (129) was simple enough, though we couldnt park right outside and had to leave the car about 100 yards away. When unloading, I did pop the car outside the lodge temporarily before parking it properly. The lodge itself is nestled on a peaceful little lane, tucked away from prying eyes front and back, with neighbours on each side. The hot tub was on the opposite side of the decking and, honestly, wasnt as secluded as wed hoped-anyone walking past on the nearby path or road could see you. It didnt ruin the fun, but it was definitely something to keep in mind. The property looked just like the photos online-spotlessly clean, including the bedding and towels. It had a full-sized fridge freezer, plenty of utensils and a small welcome pack with essentials like a cloth, sponge, bin bag and a couple of dishwasher tablets. The central heating and electric fire in the lounge worked perfectly; the high/low boost unit was easy to control. The bedroom next to the entrance was the warmest, which was a bonus. My phone (O2) had no trouble with 4G, streaming movies was smooth and the TV had freeview plus a DVD player, which kept us entertained. Overall, wed definitely come back-great value and we really enjoyed the relaxing break!"

"We recently stayed at the Somersby Spa cabin and honestly, it was a pretty nice place to unwind. The place was modern and spotless, with a super comfy bed that made sleeping easy. The TV was a pleasant surprise too - it worked perfectly, even though some reviews mentioned issues with Netflix connection. The hot tub was definitely a highlight; we spent quite a bit of time relaxing in it. Its totally private and doesnt face any public paths, so no worries there. That said, there were a few little things that could be improved. The chemicals in the hot tub werent quite right - the smell was quite strong, which was a bit off-putting. Also, the provided dishwasher tablets were a bit pointless since theres no dishwasher and theres no washing-up liquid or sponge either, so we had to bring our own. Towels and toilet paper ran out sooner than expected for a four-day stay and there was no hand soap in the lodge, just a bar of soap, which seems a bit odd. I also burnt my hand in the kitchen sink because the water was way too hot without any warning sign. The bath water, on the other hand, was only tepid. Overall, we had a lovely weekend and despite those minor issues, wed recommend it. The price felt a bit steep given check-in at 4 pm and check-out at 9:30 am, but it didnt ruin our break. Would stay again!"

The only thing to note is that the cottage is right under Stansted's flight path, so theres quite a bit of aircraft noise. It didnt bother us much once we got used to it, but it might be an issue if you're sensitive to noise. Still, wed definitely go back!"
