Helsey Farm Cottages Reviews

"Comfort was too plush for our liking, sadly."
Emma Carter - Mar 2025
"Nice place overall, but we did notice cigarette butts left on the patio from before. Otherwise, lovely stay!"
Emma Roberts - Mar 2025
"We had a fantastic time here! The place is super well-equipped, making it really comfortable for our stay. Its a short drive to places like Gibraltar Point, Mablethorpe and Anderby Creek, which was perfect for day trips. After a long walk, relaxing in the hot tub was just what we needed. There are a couple of pubs nearby, but youd need to drive or cycle since there's no footpath all the way. We loved it and will be booking again!"
Emma - Mar 2025
"Wow, what a find! We booked this place without seeing any photos inside, just hoping for the best and it really paid off. The inside was absolutely lovely-spotlessly clean and newly refurbished, you could tell they put a lot of thought into it. There are two double bedrooms with en-suites, plus a third bedroom with bunk beds (bottom bunks a small double, tops a single) and a separate bathroom just for that room, which was handy. The real wow factor was the kitchen-its huge, super modern and really well-equipped, with plenty of space to cook and hang out. The island seats four and the open-plan living area was massive, with three comfy sofas and a big flatscreen TV. Bifold doors opened onto the patio, stretching the length of the room, which was lovely for sitting outside. There was also a separate dining and living room with a table for six, two sofas and another large TV-great if you want two separate chill zones. We were a family of six, with two other families and everyone loved it. Its only about ten minutes to the seaside and local shops and less than half an hour to Skegness or Ingoldmells if you fancy the busier spots. Were already planning to come back. I was tempted to leave a bad review to keep it quiet, but I couldnt bring myself to lie-honestly, its a brilliant place!"
Millie - Feb 2025
"Our Helsey Farm Cottages review: Really enjoyed our stay! The little touches like fresh milk and bread made it special. The sauna was fantastic. A lovely few days away, thanks a lot!"
Emma Roberts - Feb 2025
"We had a lovely stay at Helsey Farm. The sites stunning, super clean and the hot tub was definitely a highlight. Would recommend it!"
Emma - Jan 2025
"Really enjoyed our stay here! The peaceful vibe was just what we needed, plenty of space to chill or be together. Perfect!"
Emma - Jan 2025
"We had a lovely weekend here! The place is really spacious and peaceful, perfect for a quick escape. The Corn Store had everything we needed and the hot tub was a real treat! Definitely coming back."
Oliver - Nov 2024
"Overall, we had a great stay. The only small hiccup was no oven glove, which made handling hot dishes a bit tricky. Apart from that, everything else was spot on and brilliant!"
Mark - Nov 2024
"Lovely place, very peaceful with stunning views. Highly recommend."
Emma - Oct 2024
"Great spot, would come again"
Jamie - Oct 2024
"Weve stayed in quite a few lodges over the years, especially with Hoseasons and we always expect a certain standard, particularly with a Platinum-rated place. Having been loyal customers for about a decade, we know what to look for and honestly, this lodge didnt quite meet our expectations. Its a real shame because its in a lovely location with plenty to do around-lots of pubs, ice cream farms and even Gibraltar Nature Reserve just a short drive away. The size of the lodge is decent too, comfortably fitting up to six people and the big TV in the lounge is a nice touch, plus the WiFi was decent once wed gone through all the instructions and passwords (which took a bit of trial and error). The hot tub was pretty spacious and the USB ports in most sockets are a nice modern touch. But, blimey, the cleanliness and maintenance let it all down so badly. From the moment we arrived, it was obvious the place hadnt been cleaned properly in a long time. The outside was grubby-windows covered in dust and smudges, decking area in need of a proper scrub, cobwebs everywhere. Inside wasnt much better; the floors looked like they hadn't been hoovered or mopped, with dirt and crumbs still visible. The sofas were covered in crumbs, hairs and even what looked like finger and toe nails tucked between the cushions-thats just gross. The window handle on one of the windows was broken, so it wouldnt close or lock, which is a security concern. The lino flooring in the dining area was bubbling up and the table had chips and stains all around the edges, not what you expect from a Platinum lodge. The dining area was also pretty grim-crumbs, stains and the cutlery was dirty, needing a thorough wash before we could use it. The glasses and tumblers werent much better; close inspection revealed grime stuck in the handles. The grill in the kitchen was missing a bracket, so whenever we put anything on it, it just fell down-annoying and unsafe. The kettle was full of limescale and grime, so we had to give it a good scrub and boil it a few times before it was usable. Flies were everywhere-understandable in a farm setting, but the volume was over the top, especially given how much effort had been put into cleaning before our arrival. The oven glove was disgusting; food stains alone made us feel queasy. The laundry situation was a bit of a joke-only one washing tablet was provided for five of us over four days and no dishwasher tablets at all. Towels were also in short supply for the number of guests and length of stay. Some bedroom light switches didnt work and the lighting itself was too bright; there were no soft lamps or mood lighting, which wouldve helped. The en suite door was broken and wouldnt close, compromising privacy. The hot tub itself was tricky to operate and stayed at a fixed 35C, which is not warm enough for relaxing properly. Privacy on the decking was minimal-lodges are quite close together and the privacy glass near the hot tubs was pointless, as you could see right through.Overall, its a real shame because the location and the facilities have potential, but the level of neglect and cleanliness issues really spoilt the stay for us. Wed definitely recommend bringing your own cleaning supplies if you stay here and maybe management could do with a serious overhaul of their cleaning routines. Weve had better experiences in other Platinum lodges, so hopefully this gets sorted out soon!"
Oliver Green - Sep 2024
"Really enjoyed our stay, the lodge was spotless and had everything needed! Great place."
Emma Clarke - Aug 2024
"The house was lovely, with great facilities, but the photos dont quite do it justice. We had a really enjoyable stay overall!"
Emma Carter - Jul 2024
"The hot tub cover really needs a proper catch and a lid lifter would make things so much easier. Its a bit of a struggle doing it alone without those extras. Could do with some improvements."
Sam - Mar 2024
"We had a fantastic time at this charming little cottage. The hot tub was a real highlight and it was perfect for a cosy weekend away with our dog. Definitely coming back!"
Emma - Mar 2024
"We stayed at this lovely little cottage and it was just perfect for a relaxing getaway along the Lincolnshire coast. The decor is really tasteful, though wed maybe swap the sofa for something a bit more comfy. The hot tub was a real treat and arriving to free bread, jam and milk was a nice touch. Highly recommend!"
Emily - Mar 2024
"The lodge was spotless, well-equipped and in a great location. We really enjoyed our stay!"
Emma - Feb 2024
"Really enjoyed our stay, the lodge was cosy and the welcome pack was a lovely touch."
Emma Carter - Feb 2024
"We had such a lovely stay! The place was spotless and really welcoming. The hot tub was a highlight and the Christmas decorations inside and out made it special. Cant wait to return!"
Emma - Jan 2024
"We had a really lovely stay overall. The lodge was spotless and very comfortable, which we appreciated. The hot tub, unfortunately, was a bit of a letdown-it wasnt very warm, so we only managed a quick dip on Christmas morning. We did call for help, but it felt more like an emergency than it really was. Still, it didnt spoil our trip too much and we enjoyed the rest of our break despite that hiccup. Would definitely stay again!"
Emma Parker - Dec 2023
"We had a lovely stay at this place! The staff at reception were super friendly and made us feel welcome right away. The lodge itself was fantastic - loved the open plan design, the cosy mood lighting and the hot tub was a real highlight. Its location is perfect, just 10 minutes from Ingoldmells and 20 from Skegness, so exploring was easy. All in all, one of the nicest lodges we've stayed in. Thanks for a great experience, well definitely return!"
James - Nov 2023
"We had an amazing long weekend at the lodge. The views of the lake are simply stunning and its so peaceful there. The hot tub was perfect for relaxing after a day out. We loved visiting the local alpaca farm and donkey sanctuary. Plus, only a quick 15-minute drive to the beach-fab trip!"
Emma - Nov 2023
"We had a really good time overall. The shared spaces were spacious and perfect for relaxing. The hot tub was a lovely bonus, especially with those stunning lake views. A bit of a pain that the Wi-Fi didnt work for us - we probably shouldve called to ask. The smaller beds werent quite comfy enough for us adults over three nights and the signage could definitely be clearer to find the lodge easily. Still, a pretty decent stay!"
Emma Carter - Nov 2023
"We recently stayed as a group of 8 and honestly, while the place was quite nice, it didnt quite hit the top of our list. There were a few small things that bugged us, but overall, we still enjoyed our trip. The first night, the electric switches tripped, leaving us in the dark and without a kettle - typical start to a holiday, right? It took a couple of phone calls and a couple of hours before someone finally came and opened the locked cupboard to fix the meter, which was a bit of a pain after a long drive. The large windows overlooking a caravan park werent ideal; it was peaceful enough but a tad overlooked. Some voile curtains or privacy films wouldve sorted that easily. The underfloor heating in one of the living rooms was out of action, which was a shame, especially if youre there in cooler weather. Seating was another thing - there wasnt enough in either lounge for us all to sit comfortably together, which wouldve been nice. The fridge was on the small side for a group of our size, so we had to be careful with storage. Beds that could be split into singles or doubles wouldve been a real bonus. But honestly, these are just tiny niggles. Nothing major, just some ideas for improvement. The electric issue was probably just bad luck and we still had a good time overall!"
Emma - Oct 2023
"We found the place really spacious and spotlessly clean, which was great. The only hiccup was the hot tub water turning a weird brown colour. We contacted reception like instructed, but they told us to wait until security was available later that evening. When we tried to reach security, the number was wrong and by then, reception had closed, so we couldnt use it that night. Bit of a shame!"
Emma Carter - Oct 2023

Attractions Near Helsey Farm Cottages

Here are some of the activities and experiences you can enjoy on your visit to Helsey Farm Cottages. If you discover a worthy inclusion to this list on your hot tub break, please let us know and we'll add it so that other visitors can enjoy it too.
Natureland Seal Sanctuary - PE25 1DB
about 6 Miles
Awarded the Lincolnshire Family Attraction of the Year award in recent years this fun day out is recommended. You can see seals and penguins, as well as other animals in the popular pets corner.  Feeding time for the seals and penguins is the real highlight of the day. Entertainment, education and conservation are the main aims of this attraction. Natureland's work with abandoned baby seals has become known worldwide and it's carefully researched rearing and treatment program is now used by many other rescue centres.
Rushmoor Country Park - GU10 1ET
about 13 Miles
Located in Louth in Lincolnshire this is an ideal attraction when you want to get out in the fresh air and explore. There are many animals to see including ponies and piglets which the little ones love.  There are also some amazing birds from hawks and falcons to owls.  Most aspects of this attraction are included in the admission cost and as well as wandering around you get to hold and feed the animals too.  A real highlight are the micro pigs which are just like real pigs but in miniature.  Fully grown they are around the size of a spaniel!  If you get hungry then you can take your own picnic to the picnic areas or head for the tea room selling delicious food and children's meals too.
Pleasure Island - DN35 0PL
about 24 Miles
Wow this is an amazing family theme park and you will probably need the full day to experience it all.  From thrilling rides to family shows, kids of all ages are catered for.  Some of the most popular rides include the Obliterator and The Pendulus, not forgetting the Hypoblaster.   Family shows are entertaining such as the African Acrobat Show which is back by popular demand.  Entrance tickets are good value and if you book online you will receive a discount. To save even more money if you live locally or are visiting the area for a few weeks you could buy a season ticket for around £50 which will allow you entry for the whole season.
The Jungle Zoo - NR31 9EY
about 24 Miles
Centred around a Tropical House in an amazing jungle like setting this is a really unique attraction that will appeal to families.  In the Cleethorpes area of Lincolnshire it's easy to get to and offers a fun yet educational experience.  Referred to as the number one attraction in the area highlights include capuchin monkeys, meerkats, ring tailed lemur and for the children African pygmy goats.  The tropical house features Red Eared and other Terrapins from North America and goldfish amongst other things.  We think The Jungle Zoo represents excellent value for money too.  We recommend a whole day to explore this attraction and ensure you get to see all of the animals resident there.
Bishops Boats Seal Trips - NR23 1RY
about 36 Miles
This is a really unique attraction running daily seal watching trips from the middle of March right through to the end of October.  The experienced skippers will lead you out on one of the traditional wooden boats where you will have the chance to see both common and grey seals.  If you love animals then this is one attraction not to be missed! They also do some boat trips combined with guides on dry land such as seal watching combined with a visit to Blakeney Point Nature Reserve, owned by the National Trust.  We think this attraction is excellent value for money as they keep their admission prices low.
Pensthorpe Nature Reserve & Gardens - NR21 0LN
about 37 Miles
if you and your family are interested in nature and wildlife then Pensthorpe Nature Reserve & Gardens is the perfect place for a day out. This beautiful area of national parkland is home to a huge range of common and rare birds from sparrows to Red Crowned Cranes and also has a red squirrel enclosure - part of a conservation programme and now home to a family of adorable squirrels. Other activities to enjoy at Pensthorpe include pond dipping and Landrover discovery tours. Pensthorpe also played host to BBC'S Springwatch in 2010.
