Helsey Farm Cottages Reviews

"Definitely worth the money! Highly recommend it to anyone. Overall comfort was good, very spacious, a number of areas to sit and interact with others. The bed was standard, was not the most comfortable to sleep in. Everything was set up ready for when we got there, some areas were a bit dirty, and little spiders all nesting on the ceiling in the bathroom. However, nothing that stood out of the ordinary. We didn't have a WiFi code and tried phoning up but was no answer, luckily had 5g but sometimes didn't get signal."

"beds need replacing , needs internal decoration"

"Loved our stay, lots of room in the lodge two bathrooms bonus, clean comfortable living area and bedrooms plenty of storage and we loved the hot tub checked every day."

"Our Helsey Farm Cottages review: Lovley relaxing few days away, peaceful and quiet. We choose this break due to location and having a hot tub . It didnt disappoint. We had an issue with TV and WiFi this was sorted out promptly . The accommodation was lovely and clean .A couple of minors and possibly silly to some. . I wanted to iron a couple of bits . I did take an iron although one was provided but no ironing board . A cheese grater and tongues in the kitchen would have been helpful . Like I said a couple of minors . Highly recommend"

"Good location private hot tub Information sheet needs updating wrong phone numbers if you need help not enough cutlery only two of each same for plates and cups WiFi not working on our visit broken stool at breakfast bar guests need to be aware that if the main entrance door behind you you need the key to get back in the mattress was not the most comfortable"
David - Jul 2025
"The lodge was lovely and spacious with open plan and a wrap around decking (we had the hot tub option). There is a massive TV in the living room, with a smaller TV in the double bedroom. The TV is surrounded by shelving, with multi-coloured mood lighting. The kitchen has many utilities, and the lodge has everything you would expect to find at home. The double bed was comfortable enough, and the sofa was really comfortable. However, the bedroom didn't have black out curtains."
Tim - May 2025
"Hesley house is a beautiful place to stay for all the family. It was spotlessly clean and the beds extremely comfortable. It is definitely somewhere we will be staying again in the future."
Vicky - Apr 2025
"Wow, what a find! We booked this place without seeing any photos inside, just hoping for the best and it really paid off. The inside was absolutely lovely-spotlessly clean and newly refurbished, you could tell they put a lot of thought into it. There are two double bedrooms with en-suites, plus a third bedroom with bunk beds (bottom bunks a small double, tops a single) and a separate bathroom just for that room, which was handy. The real wow factor was the kitchen-its huge, super modern and really well-equipped, with plenty of space to cook and hang out. The island seats four and the open-plan living area was massive, with three comfy sofas and a big flatscreen TV. Bifold doors opened onto the patio, stretching the length of the room, which was lovely for sitting outside. There was also a separate dining and living room with a table for six, two sofas and another large TV-great if you want two separate chill zones. We were a family of six, with two other families and everyone loved it. Its only about ten minutes to the seaside and local shops and less than half an hour to Skegness or Ingoldmells if you fancy the busier spots. Were already planning to come back. I was tempted to leave a bad review to keep it quiet, but I couldnt bring myself to lie-honestly, its a brilliant place!"
Millie - Feb 2025
"What a gem!! There were no photo of the inside when we booked so we hoped for the best. It was lovely! 2 double bedrooms with en-suites, and a 3rd bedroom with bunk beds. (Bottom bunk was a small double, top bunk a single). There was a separate bathroom across the hall that the 3rd bedroom used solely. The most lovely and massive kitchen. Very modern and loads of space. Island with seating for 4. Open plan room where the kitchen was with a massive (and I mean massive!) open plan living area with 3 sofas and a large flatscreen tv. Bifold doors onto the patio that were the length on the room. In addition to this was a separate dining room/living room. Table for 6 people and 2 sofas and large flatscreen tv again. Perfect to have 2 living areas. Lovely and clean throughout and bathrooms were very modern. Clearly newly refurb inside the bungalow. We were 2 familys of 3 and we all loved it. 10 mins to the seaside and shops and less then half an hour from Skegness/Ingoldmells if you wanted more of the busier type of seaside. We will definatly be returning. I was tempted to leave a bad review on the hope no one would go and therefore leave it free for my family and friends! lol.. but alas I couldnt bring myself to lie. :0)"

"We had a really lovely stay at this place. The setting is stunning and private, perfect for a relaxing getaway. The owners were super friendly and always willing to help if we needed anything, but it still felt peaceful and secluded. The hot tub was a real highlight after a long day cycling - absolute bliss! Only thing is, the cottage is directly under Stansted's flight path, so there's quite a bit of aircraft noise. It took us a couple of hours to get used to it, but honestly, it didnt ruin our holiday at all. Definitely recommend!"
Rajiv - Feb 2025
"Really enjoyed the walk, the dogs loved it and the place had such a nice vibe! Definitely recommend."
Clara - Feb 2025
"The cottage was lovely, such a peaceful spot with a stunning setting. We really enjoyed the views of the horses and the surrounding farml and. The hosts were super friendly and made sure we had everything we needed. Its a perfect place for anyone wanting a quiet, relaxing getaway - definitely worth a visit!"
Amelia - Jan 2025
"Wanted a quiet break away and this place certainly delivered. Room to gather or space to relax on your own. Perfect."
Claire - Jan 2025
"We recently stayed at Goddard's Mead and it was a lovely experience. Rob and Sharon put so much effort into restoring this historic building and their warm welcome made us feel right at home - plus Bonnie was adorable! The location is perfect for exploring Essex, especially if you enjoy wandering around Thaxted and the nearby villages. Its a really peaceful spot, ideal for a relaxed getaway. Highly recommend for anyone looking to unwind and soak up some history."
Jane - Dec 2024
"We had a lovely weekend here! The place is really spacious and peaceful, perfect for a quick escape. The Corn Store had everything we needed and the hot tub was a real treat! Definitely coming back."
Oliver - Nov 2024
"Perfect for a weekend away spacious and peaceful. The corn store has everything you need for a short break very well equipped and the hot tub was fantastic."
Graham - Nov 2024
"Overall, we had a great stay. The only small hiccup was no oven glove, which made handling hot dishes a bit tricky. Apart from that, everything else was spot on and brilliant!"
Mark - Nov 2024
"one minor issues albeit at end of main holiday season, no oven glove which made getting stuff out of the oven a little more of a chore, everything else was absolutely brilliant"
Alan - Nov 2024
"Excellent facilities Spacious and modern Quiet Relaxing Beautiful lake view"
Jeannette - Oct 2024
"Great spot, would come again"
Jamie - Oct 2024
"Absolutely loved our time at Goddards Mead! The cottage was perfect, cosy and well-equipped. Cant wait to return again!"
George - May 2024
"We had a lovely stay at this cosy cottage on a working farm and it felt surprisingly private. The owners, Robert and Sharon, were super friendly and welcoming. The place is really spacious, with well-equipped kitchen and bathroom and the bed was super comfy - perfect for a good night's sleep! The garden is perfect for dogs, totally secluded and with nice furniture. Plenty of walks nearby and Thaxteds restaurants, especially The Star and The Maypole, are worth checking out. Wed definitely recommend it!"
Simon - Apr 2024
"The hot tub cover really needs a proper catch and a lid lifter would make things so much easier. Its a bit of a struggle doing it alone without those extras. Could do with some improvements."
Sam - Mar 2024
"Really enjoyed our stay here! The place was super peaceful, perfect for unwinding and very quiet."

Attractions Near Helsey Farm Cottages

Here are some of the activities and experiences you can enjoy on your visit to Helsey Farm Cottages. If you discover a worthy inclusion to this list on your hot tub break, please let us know and we'll add it so that other visitors can enjoy it too.
Natureland Seal Sanctuary - PE25 1DB
about 6 Miles
Awarded the Lincolnshire Family Attraction of the Year award in recent years this fun day out is recommended. You can see seals and penguins, as well as other animals in the popular pets corner.  Feeding time for the seals and penguins is the real highlight of the day. Entertainment, education and conservation are the main aims of this attraction. Natureland's work with abandoned baby seals has become known worldwide and it's carefully researched rearing and treatment program is now used by many other rescue centres.
Rushmoor Country Park - GU10 1ET
about 13 Miles
Located in Louth in Lincolnshire this is an ideal attraction when you want to get out in the fresh air and explore. There are many animals to see including ponies and piglets which the little ones love.  There are also some amazing birds from hawks and falcons to owls.  Most aspects of this attraction are included in the admission cost and as well as wandering around you get to hold and feed the animals too.  A real highlight are the micro pigs which are just like real pigs but in miniature.  Fully grown they are around the size of a spaniel!  If you get hungry then you can take your own picnic to the picnic areas or head for the tea room selling delicious food and children's meals too.
Pleasure Island - DN35 0PL
about 24 Miles
Wow this is an amazing family theme park and you will probably need the full day to experience it all.  From thrilling rides to family shows, kids of all ages are catered for.  Some of the most popular rides include the Obliterator and The Pendulus, not forgetting the Hypoblaster.   Family shows are entertaining such as the African Acrobat Show which is back by popular demand.  Entrance tickets are good value and if you book online you will receive a discount. To save even more money if you live locally or are visiting the area for a few weeks you could buy a season ticket for around £50 which will allow you entry for the whole season.
The Jungle Zoo - NR31 9EY
about 24 Miles
Centred around a Tropical House in an amazing jungle like setting this is a really unique attraction that will appeal to families.  In the Cleethorpes area of Lincolnshire it's easy to get to and offers a fun yet educational experience.  Referred to as the number one attraction in the area highlights include capuchin monkeys, meerkats, ring tailed lemur and for the children African pygmy goats.  The tropical house features Red Eared and other Terrapins from North America and goldfish amongst other things.  We think The Jungle Zoo represents excellent value for money too.  We recommend a whole day to explore this attraction and ensure you get to see all of the animals resident there.
Bishops Boats Seal Trips - NR23 1RY
about 36 Miles
This is a really unique attraction running daily seal watching trips from the middle of March right through to the end of October.  The experienced skippers will lead you out on one of the traditional wooden boats where you will have the chance to see both common and grey seals.  If you love animals then this is one attraction not to be missed! They also do some boat trips combined with guides on dry land such as seal watching combined with a visit to Blakeney Point Nature Reserve, owned by the National Trust.  We think this attraction is excellent value for money as they keep their admission prices low.
Pensthorpe Nature Reserve & Gardens - NR21 0LN
about 37 Miles
if you and your family are interested in nature and wildlife then Pensthorpe Nature Reserve & Gardens is the perfect place for a day out. This beautiful area of national parkland is home to a huge range of common and rare birds from sparrows to Red Crowned Cranes and also has a red squirrel enclosure - part of a conservation programme and now home to a family of adorable squirrels. Other activities to enjoy at Pensthorpe include pond dipping and Landrover discovery tours. Pensthorpe also played host to BBC'S Springwatch in 2010.
