"Excellent as always only one small issue, robes are no longer available in the lodge's, as returning customers we were not aware of this and did not bring any with us for the hot tub. We will know when we return."

"Overall the lodge was excellent. Would be even better with a larger fridge/freezer, in our opinion a Must, also a washing machine. There is plenty of room to accommodate these items.The outlook with be better one the other lodges have been erected, not looking at a building site."
"Had a wonderful stay at herons mead, staff were lovely and great information wise before and during our stay. Along with great fishing if you like that sort of thing hubby and son loved.. there is a great cafe which sells lovely food and great drink selection too. We stayed in a beautiful log cabin which was very spacious and had beautiful decor. We had a few gripes which we have fed back they are minor (tiny fridge/freezer and table to small, no hot tub clean or maintenance during our stay) which could have made our stay perfect. Im sure they will address these small but important gripes. Thanks again to the lovely staff. Highly recommend."
"Our Herons Mead Woodside Lodges review: We really enjoyed our stay at the lodge! The fenced area was a lifesaver for our dog to run around freely. The place was spotless and had all the essentials. Only thing wed suggest is more washing up liquid and dishwasher tablets for a week-long visit. Otherwise, great experience!"
"We recently booked into the new oak lodges at Herons Mead, which had just opened in 2024. Honestly, the place was super comfy and well-equipped with everything you'd expect, including a hot tub and a private garden - perfect for relaxing. The setting is lovely, surrounded by fields and its pretty peaceful, which we really appreciated. The site itself has all the essentials and the on-site restaurant serves some nice quality food. The fishing lakes are a bonus and it's a good spot if you're planning to explore the coast or local attractions.That said, there are a couple of niggles. Water pressure at Oak Lodge 2 was pretty low, making showers a bit of a chore - a real letdown for a brand-new lodge. Also, the twin patio doors leading out to the steps and hot tub dont have any blinds or curtains, which seems odd since the garden is private. Maybe they think its unnecessary, but itd be a nice touch. The stone driveway isnt the best for prams or pushchairs, especially with a 7-month-old in tow. Plus, if more lodges are built, its a bit of a walk to the lakes or restaurant with all your kit.The fishing included in the stay was great, but we did get a bit conflicting info from staff about it, so clearer communication would help. Overall though, were happy we chose Herons Mead and would definitely come back. Its a solid base for exploring the coast and local sights!"

A seaside theme park near Skegness with rides, live shows, mini golf, bowling and a big market.
Fantasy Island is a resort theme park at Ingoldmells on the Lincolnshire coast, close to Skegness and a short walk from the beach. Rides are split into three wristband levels, Discovery and Adventurer for thrill seekers and Little Explorer for younger children, with height restrictions applying. Outdoor rides sit alongside an indoor entertainment complex in a steel pyramid.
Tip: Check the park is open before you go, as it closes between seasons. Wristbands can be pre-booked online or bought on arrival, and the right one depends on your height.

Explore the ruined birthplace of the future Henry IV, built in 1220 without a keep.
Bolingbroke Castle is a ruined castle in Old Bolingbroke, Lincolnshire. It was founded in 1220 by Ranulf, Earl of Chester, shortly after he returned from the Fifth Crusade. It is one of the earliest castles designed and built without a keep, relying instead on thick walls, five D-shaped towers and a twin-towered gatehouse.
Tip: Look for the lower walls and the ground floors of the towers, which are the main surviving parts to see.

A grade I listed Gothic cathedral with medieval stained glass, themed tours and a hands-on Discovery Centre for families.
Lincoln Cathedral is a Church of England cathedral and a working place of worship, consecrated in the 11th century. The building is grade I listed and has Gothic architecture from several periods, including two large rose windows, the Dean's Eye and the Bishop's Eye. The Victorian writer John Ruskin rated it highly among British buildings.
Tip: The cathedral is a living church, so some areas can close for services or events. Check the visit page for current restrictions before you travel.

A 15th-century red-brick tower with seven storeys to explore and views over the Lincolnshire countryside.
Tattershall Castle is a National Trust property built in the 15th century by Ralph Cromwell, Treasurer of England. The Great Tower is an imposing red-brick keep with seven storeys, including the Parlour, Great Hall, Audience Chamber and Private Chamber. Some of the huge medieval fireplaces were once ripped out for sale abroad before being tracked down and returned.
Tip: The tower has 149 steps and no lift, and the grounds have deep gravel, so wear sensible shoes. Dogs on leads can go in most places but not inside the Great Tower, except assistance dogs.

A Norman castle in Lincoln's Cathedral Quarter with a Victorian prison, wall views and a Magna Carta.
Lincoln Castle was built by William the Conqueror in the late 11th century on the site of a Roman fortress. It is unusual for having two mottes, and it stayed in use as a prison and court for centuries. It sits in the heart of Lincoln's historic Cathedral Quarter.
Tip: Call the Customer Service Centre on 01522 782019 before you go to check which parts are open and which Magna Carta documents are on display.
