About Herons Mead Lodges

These bespoke and elegant cottages, new for 2021, are part of Hoseason’s Daisy Door Collection. Situated in a lush green site in rural Orby, near Skegness, this park offers an idyllic and peaceful atmosphere which is perfect for a couple wanting a relaxing getaway in nature.

With the coast so close, the site is ideally located for easy access to the incredible beaches at Skegness and Mablethorpe. A holiday here is guaranteed to help you recharge your batteries, with the park boasting its status being one of the most tranquil settings along the Lincolnshire Coast.

On site there are eight acres of beautiful woodland to explore. Look out for the abundant wildlife in this diverse natural habitat, including rare birds and the occasional badger and fox. There are two well stocked fishing lakes for guests to try out some coarse fishing, where there are a range of species of fish, including carp and roach.

Down by the lake makes for a wonderfully serene spot for a picnic, where you can take in the lakeside views and watch the dragonfly flitting around. It’s not hard to see why the site was awarded the prestigious David Bellamy award for wildlife when seeing just how plentiful it is across the whole park. The park also prides itself on being an eco-friendly site, meaning they give back to nature and ensure that your visit has no negative impact on the wildlife which is so rich here.

The new cottages are the ideal accommodation for a couple wanting a high-end and tailored experience that is guaranteed to add a real luxurious aspect to their getaway. From the outside, it is clear how stunning these cottages are, and how they have been created with comfort and indulgence in mind. The interior is open plan and airy, where the living area and kitchen/dining area rolls into one.

The kitchen is fully equipped for all you need to cater for yourself. The bedroom has a generously spacious king-size double bed, and these will be ready for you on arrival. Outside, there is garden furniture available for some al fresco dining on a warm evening. Your own private hot tub is situated out at the back as well, which is ideal for a relaxing soak in the evening. There’s also a flatscreen TV with Freeview in the living area for a lazy day in front of a film.

The Lincolnshire Coast is conveniently accessible from the site, meaning there are some fantastic locations right on the doorstep that guests should make the time to visit. As well as a golden sandy beach, Mablethorpe is home to some incredible eateries, for brunch, lunch, and dinner. Explore the beach in a unique way via the famous Mablethorpe Sand Train. Skegness is only a 15-minute drive away from the park, and this thriving seaside town is a great place for an outing.

There’s an aquarium and seal sanctuary in which guests can see and learn about the fascinating marine life, and there’s an amusement park with lots of traditional beachside amusements and rides. The Lincolnshire Wolds are also near to the site, so more active holidaymakers can explore this beautifully vast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty via the various walking and hiking routes.

Herons Mead Lodges Reviews

"We loved the lodge! It was spotless and felt really fresh. The private spot was perfect, especially with the gated decking for the dogs. The welcome pack with treats was a lovely touch."
Emma - Mar 2025
"We recently stayed at Bloom Lodge and honestly, it was fantastic! The place was spotless, super cosy and had everything we needed for a relaxing break. The bathroom was huge with a lovely shower and the bedroom was comfy with plenty of wardrobe space. We loved the privacy and the stunning views from the balcony, especially with the hot tub - such a nice touch! The location is perfect, close enough to Skegness and Ingoldmells for days out. Were already looking forward to coming back to this gem of a spot. Absolutely loved it!"
Emma - Jan 2025
"So, weve been here before and thought wed give it another shot, but honestly, this trip didnt live up to our first visit. First off, we got a heads-up that the bar and restaurant would be closed during our stay because of some work. Not ideal, but we understood - things need fixing sometimes. The day we arrived, we got a call saying the lodge was ready and asking what time wed be arriving, which was pretty good service, I have to say. When we got there, we picked up our keys and were greeted by housekeeping, who asked if everything was okay. Honestly, how would we know? We hadnt even had a chance to look around yet! Once inside, we were greeted with a freezing cold lodge - turns out, the central heating wasnt working and there was no hot water either. Thankfully, that was sorted within a couple of hours. We decided to relax that evening in the hot tub, but there was a bit of a hiccup there. We couldnt get the sound system to work after trying several times. The next day, we went back to use it again and found it only lukewarm. We put the cover back on and waited, hoping itd warm up. We tried a few more times over the next few hours, but still no luck. Tried calling reception twice but got no answer, which was a bit frustrating. Eventually, we pressed some buttons on the hot tub and it started warming up - funny how that worked! We shouldnt have had to do that every time, especially since it worked fine during our first stay. On the bright side, the lodge was spotless and well prepared, which is why we came back in the first place. I did mention all this to reception when we left, hoping it gets sorted for future guests. Still, its a shame because we really wanted to enjoy our stay more, especially considering how great it was the first time around. Its just a shame about the little teething problems this time around."
Emily - Jan 2025
"We had a really lovely stay. The place was spotless and the facilities were top-notch. Definitely coming back and telling friends about it too!"
Oliver - Apr 2024
"Our Herons Mead Lodges review: We had a really lovely stay here. The peaceful surroundings and gorgeous views made it feel like a proper escape. The lodge was super well-equipped, basically like a home from home, although we did think a bigger frying pan would have been handy - the one provided was a bit on the small side. The welcome pack and little touches were a nice touch and we appreciated that its dog-friendly - our pup was made to feel just as welcome as we were. There were a couple of minor issues, like a broken glass left in a cupboard, but nothing that really affected our trip. Unfortunately, the hot tub wasnt ready until the next morning, even though wed been told it would be available by 8pm, so we missed out on that first evening, which was a shame since we only had a short stay. Wed definitely recommend dining at the on-site restaurant rather than bringing takeaways back - the chef seemed a bit overwhelmed and our food arrived cold, but the reviews for the place are still good overall. Out of season, Skegnesss front is lovely and perfect for exploring with dogs on the beach. Thanks again for a great break - wed love to come back!"
Sam - Mar 2024

Emma - Jan 1970
"We booked one of the new lodges for a peaceful escape and it was just what we needed. The place is super quiet, perfect for relaxing and doing nothing much. All the facilities we wanted were in the lodge, which was handy. We also took a short drive to Loch, a lovely town with some nice eateries. Breakfast at The was fantastic and the staff were really friendly and helpful. Thanks for a great stay!"
Ellie - Jan 1970
"Really enjoyed it, didnt want to go!"
Emily - Jan 1970
"We stayed at Blossom 2 and honestly, it was lovely. The private Jacuzzi on the balcony was a real treat after a long day and the kitchens dishwasher made life so much easier. The shower in the bathroom was great and the king-size bed was super comfy-had a great sleep! Loved the little touches when we arrived, like the doggy welcome pack and the fizz bottles for us. Just a heads up, the welcome tray only has tea and coffee, so bring extra if you need more. Would definitely return!"
Oliver - Jan 1970
"Had a great break, lodge is fantastic, very clean and comfortable. A couple of minor issues, I tend not to drive when I am on holiday and the location was not on a bus route. Also the Hide cafe restaurant served excellent meals but was only open until 6pm on weekdays. Staff were all fantastic, nothing was any trouble for them and any issues resolved quickly"
Scott - Aug 2022

Attractions Near Herons Mead Lodges

Here are some of the activities and experiences you can enjoy on your visit to Herons Mead Lodges. If you discover a worthy inclusion to this list on your hot tub break, please let us know and we'll add it so that other visitors can enjoy it too.
Natureland Seal Sanctuary - PE25 1DB
about 4 Miles
Awarded the Lincolnshire Family Attraction of the Year award in recent years this fun day out is recommended. You can see seals and penguins, as well as other animals in the popular pets corner.  Feeding time for the seals and penguins is the real highlight of the day. Entertainment, education and conservation are the main aims of this attraction. Natureland's work with abandoned baby seals has become known worldwide and it's carefully researched rearing and treatment program is now used by many other rescue centres.
Rushmoor Country Park - GU10 1ET
about 17 Miles
Located in Louth in Lincolnshire this is an ideal attraction when you want to get out in the fresh air and explore. There are many animals to see including ponies and piglets which the little ones love.  There are also some amazing birds from hawks and falcons to owls.  Most aspects of this attraction are included in the admission cost and as well as wandering around you get to hold and feed the animals too.  A real highlight are the micro pigs which are just like real pigs but in miniature.  Fully grown they are around the size of a spaniel!  If you get hungry then you can take your own picnic to the picnic areas or head for the tea room selling delicious food and children's meals too.
Pleasure Island - DN35 0PL
about 28 Miles
Wow this is an amazing family theme park and you will probably need the full day to experience it all.  From thrilling rides to family shows, kids of all ages are catered for.  Some of the most popular rides include the Obliterator and The Pendulus, not forgetting the Hypoblaster.   Family shows are entertaining such as the African Acrobat Show which is back by popular demand.  Entrance tickets are good value and if you book online you will receive a discount. To save even more money if you live locally or are visiting the area for a few weeks you could buy a season ticket for around £50 which will allow you entry for the whole season.
The Jungle Zoo - NR31 9EY
about 29 Miles
Centred around a Tropical House in an amazing jungle like setting this is a really unique attraction that will appeal to families.  In the Cleethorpes area of Lincolnshire it's easy to get to and offers a fun yet educational experience.  Referred to as the number one attraction in the area highlights include capuchin monkeys, meerkats, ring tailed lemur and for the children African pygmy goats.  The tropical house features Red Eared and other Terrapins from North America and goldfish amongst other things.  We think The Jungle Zoo represents excellent value for money too.  We recommend a whole day to explore this attraction and ensure you get to see all of the animals resident there.
Bishops Boats Seal Trips - NR23 1RY
about 34 Miles
This is a really unique attraction running daily seal watching trips from the middle of March right through to the end of October.  The experienced skippers will lead you out on one of the traditional wooden boats where you will have the chance to see both common and grey seals.  If you love animals then this is one attraction not to be missed! They also do some boat trips combined with guides on dry land such as seal watching combined with a visit to Blakeney Point Nature Reserve, owned by the National Trust.  We think this attraction is excellent value for money as they keep their admission prices low.
Pensthorpe Nature Reserve & Gardens - NR21 0LN
about 35 Miles
if you and your family are interested in nature and wildlife then Pensthorpe Nature Reserve & Gardens is the perfect place for a day out. This beautiful area of national parkland is home to a huge range of common and rare birds from sparrows to Red Crowned Cranes and also has a red squirrel enclosure - part of a conservation programme and now home to a family of adorable squirrels. Other activities to enjoy at Pensthorpe include pond dipping and Landrover discovery tours. Pensthorpe also played host to BBC'S Springwatch in 2010.
