Driftwood Coastal Retreat Reviews

Emma - Nov 2024
The Lodge was perfectly placed for day trips, really comfy and well-equipped. The hot tub was a lifesaver on chilly, rainy nights since it’s partly undercover. The hamper was a lovely touchand the pub food was spot on. We visited in early November and noticed quite a few places, including the on-site pub, closed on Tuesdays, but overall, we had a great break.
Emma - Oct 2024
We had such a lovely stay! The lodge’s setting was truly stunning, surrounded by nature. The hot tub was a great way to relax after exploring. The welcome basket with fizz and a beer was a real nice touch. Honestly, we couldn’t fault anything about it.
Emma - Sep 2024
This place was lovely! The cottage is really clean and well-equipped, so we lacked nothing. Its position is perfect for beach strolls or exploring the nearby woods. We had a cracking holiday with Ernie, who absolutely adored all the walks around. Cheers!
Emma - Sep 2024
We loved the lodge’s cosy feel and privacy, plus its perfect spot right next to The Beagle Inn. The owner was super helpfuland it’s just a short walk to a lovely sandy beach. Dog-friendly places like this make holidays even better!

We had a lovely stay at this lodge! The place is beautifully decorated with modern, stylish furnitureand the beds were incredibly comfy. It’s super clean and well-maintained, which made us feel right at home. The owners really thought of everything, even leaving a welcome basket for us. The location is perfect - peaceful woodland views and birdlife, plus a short walk to the beach. The hot tub was a real highlight, especially in the evening. Definitely recommend the Steamboat Inn for food too!
Emma Carter - Aug 2024
The Driftwood Lodge was fantastic! Very well stockedand we loved the wildlife - squirrels, badgers, birds - made it really special for our family of four.
Emma - May 2024
We really enjoyed our stay at this lodge. The location is stunning and super peaceful, even though it’s on a complex, it felt private. The beds were comfyand we loved having different outdoor seating areas. Saw some badgers and foxes which was a real highlight. Scotland’s charm definitely kept us wanting more. We’ll be back, thanks!

We had a lovely stay at Driftwood Lodge. The place is really cosy and super comfortable, with everything we needed. The hot tub was a highlight - so relaxing and well kept. We enjoyed quick trips to nearby coastal villages for walks and some good pub food. The Deer Park Safari next door is definitely worth a visit and great value for money. Attractions Near Driftwood Coastal Retreat

Here are some of the activities and experiences you can enjoy on your visit to Driftwood Coastal Retreat. If you discover a worthy inclusion to this list on your hot tub break, please let us know and we'll add it so that other visitors can enjoy it too.
Castle Douglas - DG7 1TJ
about 9 Miles
We also recommend a visit to Castle Douglas and the Treasure Hunt Treasure Trails. These treasure hunts are great fun for the whole family and are an entertaining way to explore a new town or village. Children will enjoy solving the clues whilst learning about the history of the area. The walking trail is suitable for wheelchair users and those with pushchairs so no one is left out of the fun.
Mabie Farm Park - DG2 8EZ
about 11 Miles
Mabie Farm Park is a firm favourite. Ideal for families with younger children ,this family oriented farm park has lots of animals to meet and also offers Donkey Rides, Paddle Boats and Slides as well as Trampolines and Bouncy Castles. Kids can run around on the Soft Play Area while mum and dad relax in the Tea Room. There is also a Farm Shop onsite selling toys, gifts and fresh local produce including cakes and jams. Seasonal activities can also be enjoyed including a spookly tea and walk on Haloween. The Farm closes for the winter on October 31st.
Laggan Outdoor - DG7 3NQ
about 21 Miles

An outdoor activity center suitable for families. Featuring one of Europe's longest zip wires, jeep driving, grass sledging, archery, outdoor scooters. A mix of fun and adreneline rides and a lot more.

Lake District Wildlife Park - CA12 4RD
about 23 Miles
We love this day out in Cumbria where you're encouraged to "take a fresh look".  Some of the amazing animals you will get to see include the only Canadian Lynx in the UK and you will have the opportunity to help their Lynx Conservation Project.  The Asian Fishing Cat is also well worth a look - these cats are known for diving under the water and catching fish!  Other activities include fantastic flying displays and play areas for the little ones...
Tullie House Museum & Art Gallery - CA3 8TP
about 31 Miles
This is a museum and art gallery in one and will suit those looking for an educational and cultural day out.  You can explore the fantastic art collection including Fine Art, Decorative Art and Textiles.  If you love nature then this aspect of Tullie House will appeal. The museum holds large and important collections of zoological, botanical and geological material. And for lovers of history there is plenty to wet your appetite here. Tullie House collects a wide range of historic materials including objects, ephemera (printed material), photographs and associated information files.  We think this museum and art gallery are excellent value for money as well.
Ullswater Steamers - CA11 0US
about 38 Miles
This is an award winning Lake District attraction and they have been operating cruisers on Lake Ullswater for over 150 years.  There is no better way to explore the lakes than on water and you could even combine a cruise with a spectacular walk.  For great days out in this region then this attraction is highly recommended and will appeal to couples as well as families.  Corporate groups are also well catered for.
