Caistor Lakes Lodges Reviews

"The lodges were spotlessly clean and really lovely overall. We did have a bit of a hiccup with the hot tub on our last night - it needed refilling and just didnt heat up enough to enjoy. Still, overall a good stay!"
Sarah - Mar 2025
"We had a really lovely stay at this place. The setting is so peaceful and private, yet the owners are super friendly and on hand if you need anything. The hot tub was a real treat after a long day of cycling, definitely a highlight! The only thing to note is that the cottage is quite close to Stansteds flight path, so theres quite a bit of aircraft noise. It didnt bother us much once we got used to it, but if youre sensitive to noise, its something to consider. Overall, a great spot for a relaxing trip!"
Rajiv - Mar 2025
"The lodge was really lovely and spotless, super well thought out. Only thing missing was a place to hang or dry robes and towels after swimming or showering - seems quite common in holiday lets."
George - Dec 2024
"We had such a lovely weekend stay here, it really ticked all the boxes for us. The garden was perfect for the dogs and they couldnt get enough of the underfloor heating-it kept them cosy all weekend. Luna especially was wagging her tail nonstop, so much she hurt it! Definitely coming back, very happy pups and humans!"
Daniel - Nov 2024

Lucy H. - Sep 2024
"Comfortable stay, would recommend!"
Jamie - Aug 2024
"We absolutely loved this lodge! The facilities are top-notch, especially the hot tub. Fishing was fantastic!"
David - Aug 2024
"We recently stayed at this lovely lodge and honestly, its a pretty spot by the lake. The place is really peaceful, perfect if youre after some R&R. The lodge itself was spacious and very clean, which we appreciated. That said, it kinda felt a bit let down by some small things. For instance, theres no dishwasher, which feels a bit odd for a place calling itself luxury - washing up in the sink isnt quite what youd expect. Also, a little shop on-site selling basics and newspapers wouldve been handy, especially for those quick bits. Parking was a bit of a pain too; we had to trek up and down the steps multiple times to get to the carpark, which was a bit annoying. The park is mainly geared towards fishing and while all three lakes are accessible on foot, the surrounding area isnt really suited for walks or cycling - pavements end at the gate and its all uphill if you go right. We were lucky with the weather, but if it had rained, things mightve been different. The fishing was quite good in most lakes, though Arthurs pool was a bit quiet this visit, no bites at all, which was a shame since we could fish right from the deck. The Foundry was lively, plenty of action there. The sunken hot tub is a nice touch, easy to get in and out. The restaurant serves good quality food and we enjoyed a couple of meals there. Overall, its a beautiful lodge on a pretty lake, perfect for relaxing, but it would be even better if there was a bit more for those not into fishing. Wed definitely come back for some proper downtime!"
Charlie - Jul 2024
"Really enjoyed the peaceful vibe"
Amelia - Jun 2024
"The view over the fishing lake was so calming and the hot tub was just the cherry on top. Lovely stay!"
James - Mar 2024
"The lodge was super comfy and had a lovely smart TV everywhere. WiFis a bit dodgy, though."
Alex - Mar 2024
"Really enjoyed our stay, the lodge was super cosy and clean."
Clara - Mar 2024
"Very good service"
Sam - Dec 2023
"Great spot for fishing, we had a really good time!"
Chris - Nov 2023
"Really enjoyed the peaceful vibe"
Matt - Oct 2023
"We had a really lovely stay at this cosy spot. The location is stunning and very private, which we loved. The owners were super friendly and always available if we needed anything, but it never felt intrusive. The hot tub was a real highlight after a long day of cycling-so relaxing! Just a heads up, the cottage is right under Stansteds flight path, so theres quite a bit of aircraft noise. It took us a couple of hours to get used to it, but it didnt ruin our holiday at all. Would definitely recommend!"
Raj - Sep 2023
"Really enjoyed the stay, peaceful spot, fishing was top notch."
Tommy - Aug 2023
"We had an amazing stay! The location is stunning and the facilities are top-notch. The restaurant was a plus, delivering straight to our lodge. My partner enjoyed fishing from the deck and I couldnt get enough of the hot tub. Definitely coming back!"
Mark - Jul 2023
"We really enjoyed our stay at the lodge! The place was spotless and spacious, with a lovely big hottub that felt quite private. The scenery by the lake was stunning too. Only downside was the beds and sofas, which were a bit firm and the cabin lacked enough kitchenware for four of us. WiFi was a bit patchy, but overall, a lovely break!"
Alexis - Apr 2023
"We really enjoyed our stay at this cosy little lodge by the lake. The setting is absolutely lovely, perfect for relaxing walks and soaking up nature. The lodges are pretty close together, which means you might hear a bit of noise from neighbours, especially when folks are having lively chats or playing music on the decking, but its mostly other guests being a bit inconsiderate. Inside, the place was spotless and tidy, though we found the lounge a tad snug - not a big issue. The kitchen is quite basic, but its functional; we did wish there was a dishwasher since theres so much cupboard space and only four pieces of crockery and cutlery made cooking a bit tricky sometimes. The bedrooms and bathrooms are roomy, but the bathroom could do with a few more hooks or some extra hanging space for towels and robes. Still, wed happily return!"
Ellie - May 2022
"We had a lovely stay! The place is peaceful and clean, with a spacious private hot tub. The staff are genuinely friendly and helpful. Definitely recommend for a relaxing getaway!"
Harriet - Apr 2022
"We stayed at this lovely lodge recently and honestly, it had everything we needed. The hot tub was fantastic after a long day. Sure, its a bit pricey and there are quite a few rules to follow, but the full English breakfast was perfect. We tried ordering from The Ugly Duckling but no luck, probably due to reception being closed. All in all, a great stay!"
Rachel - Mar 2022
"Really enjoyed our experience, well be back again soon!"
Claire - Jul 2020
"Great spot, we prefer Grebe and Swan; Mallard feels a bit too public for us."
Michael - Aug 2019
"Great spot for chilling and catching some fish too!"
Alexandra - Jul 2019
"We really enjoyed our stay at Teal Lodge. The place was lovely and Caistor Lakes definitely lives up to its reputation. The only downside was the limited kitchenware - just four plates and bowls, plus five mugs, which felt a bit sparse. Still, we'd happily come back!"
Laura - Jul 2019
"Best holiday ever. Osprey Lodge is spotless. Staff are amazing. We will definitely be returning"
Elaine - Jul 2022
"We stayed in the kingfisher it was clean & well equipped, the only thing I will say is the hot tub needs to have a fence down the side where the footpath to make it abit more private."
Jane - Jul 2022
"The overall experience for us, was perfect, we found the location, the atmosphere and the setting just right. If you’re an angler and your main purpose for booking Caistor lakes is predominantly to carp fish, then this might not be the place for you as it’s no runs water. If however you have booked for a relaxing break With the added bonus of being set on a lake and the possibility of catching some stunning fish, then get booking. The lodges are faultless (we stayed in Shearwater on Arthur’s pool) there really wasn’t anything we could suggest needed changing. It really was Home from home with the additional of a beautiful hot tub. The food in the restaurant was 5* the chef really does deserve a pat on the back, yes there are sometimes delays and yes you do need to book. I always see this as a good sign and wouldn’t expect to turn up to a restaurant of this standard and find an available table. Staff were friendly and helpful, everything was explained to us on arrival and again we were warned that the restaurant gets busy and usually needed a booking. If I could suggest anything a little shop with the basics/fresh produce would be ideal."
Samantha - Jul 2022
"Absolutely wicked holiday from start to finish. Lodge 10* immaculate had a brilliant 2 weeks. Fishing excellent lost count of the amount of carp I caught would highly recommend this lodge. Sun is on the lodge all day. Hot tub a must"
David - Jul 2022
"I do think they need to do something with the weed in the lake in my opinion"
Ian - Jul 2022
"Clean and very relaxing"
Simon - Jul 2022
"Second time here, and to be honest gets better each time would recommend this holiday to anyone simply fantastic ... see you next year!!"
David - Jul 2022
"Lovely place would recommend"
Angela - Jun 2022
"Absolutely fantastic"
Ria - Jun 2022
"Great place to stay..beautiful location ?..staff so friendly & helpful?"
Caroline - Jun 2022
"Staff were so friendly and seemed genuinely happy to work there. Wanted peace and quiet which is exactly what we got. Pretty views from lodge, plenty of wildlife and very private hot tub areas, the location of lodges make it so you are not over looked. Only the mattress let it down, would have expected slightly better quality for such luxury accommodation. Enough equipment to cook, lovely rainfall shower and comfortable seating."

The Jungle Zoo - NR31 9EY
about 12 Miles
Centred around a Tropical House in an amazing jungle like setting this is a really unique attraction that will appeal to families.  In the Cleethorpes area of Lincolnshire it's easy to get to and offers a fun yet educational experience.  Referred to as the number one attraction in the area highlights include capuchin monkeys, meerkats, ring tailed lemur and for the children African pygmy goats.  The tropical house features Red Eared and other Terrapins from North America and goldfish amongst other things.  We think The Jungle Zoo represents excellent value for money too.  We recommend a whole day to explore this attraction and ensure you get to see all of the animals resident there.

Wow this is an amazing family theme park and you will probably need the full day to experience it all.  From thrilling rides to family shows, kids of all ages are catered for.  Some of the most popular rides include the Obliterator and The Pendulus, not forgetting the Hypoblaster.   Family shows are entertaining such as the African Acrobat Show which is back by popular demand.  Entrance tickets are good value and if you book online you will receive a discount. To save even more money if you live locally or are visiting the area for a few weeks you could buy a season ticket for around £50 which will allow you entry for the whole season.

The Deep is also home to the world's largest exhibition, featuring weird animals from the depths combined with slime! Educational talks and events take place daily so visitors can learn about the conservation projects which the centre is involved in. There is also a fantastic restaurant over looking some of the displays and a souvenir shop. Family tickets are priced at just £32.00.
Rushmoor Country Park - GU10 1ET

Located in Louth in Lincolnshire this is an ideal attraction when you want to get out in the fresh air and explore. There are many animals to see including ponies and piglets which the little ones love.  There are also some amazing birds from hawks and falcons to owls.  Most aspects of this attraction are included in the admission cost and as well as wandering around you get to hold and feed the animals too.  A real highlight are the micro pigs which are just like real pigs but in miniature.  Fully grown they are around the size of a spaniel!  If you get hungry then you can take your own picnic to the picnic areas or head for the tea room selling delicious food and children's meals too.
Madhyamaka Meditation Centre - LL21 9NG
about 34 Miles
Madhyamaka Meditation Centre  a unique and very special centre in the Yorkshire moors offering amazing meditation experiences for experts and novices. The beautiful setting really ads to the experience and the gorgeous grounds are abundant with wildlife including Squirrels, Deer and Birds including Red Kites. You can see seals and penguins, as well as other animals in the popular pets corner.  Feeding time for the seals and penguins is the real highlight of the day. Entertainment, education and conservation are the main aims of this attraction. Natureland's work with abandoned baby seals has become known worldwide and it's carefully researched rearing and treatment program is now used by many other rescue centres.
