Hambleton Lakeside Lodges Reviews

"Modern well kept lodges very clean and tidy"
Heather - Mar 2024
"We enjoyed our stay at lakeside vip lodges, lodges was well stocked everything you need for your stay. Lovely and clean . Ducks and swans visited every time we went out on decking ."
Verified Guest - Mar 2024
"Great lodges we'll equipped. Heating fantastic. Hot tub great."
Verified Guest - Mar 2024
"The lodge was clean, warm and very modern. We stayed in Lodge number 3. Ian greeted us on the day, and was around the site every day. Told us what's what. There are two lodges being made at the entrance but the noise did not bother us at all. Just usual knocking and drilling-usual working times of a day.. Stepping out onto the decking overlooking the lake with the swans and ducks was so peaceful. Our stay was 18th-22nd march. Not many guests there at this time but didnt bother us. Blackpool 25 mins in the car). Walking distance from lodge, to a pub (shovels), which is dog friendly and serves amazing home cooked food. The staff are lovely too. We walked to river wyre pub/restaurant and enjoyed drinks outside overlooking the river which was beautiful. Robes and slippers provided for the hot tub. Hot tub overlooking lake which was lovely upon dusk. I would 100% recommend this. No facilities on site, but we didn't need anything.. welcome pack for guests and pooch !"
Claire - Mar 2024
"Great comfortable lodge, great hot tub set at the right temperature (40). Has washing machine and dryer, not that we used it but generally items not seen. TV in every room. Pub within walking distance Sunday lunch was below standard maybe because of being mother's day and trying to do too much, but other food that came out looked reasonable. Kebab/pizza shop which is closer than the pub was excellent (best kebab I have had in 20+ years actually tasted of lamb!! lol) there's also a chippy n a Spar shop. The only minor niggles you could see into the lodge opposite from the lounge and the hot tub could do with a blind on the patio doors, there are blinds on all other windows so there is some privacy. There is a little noise from the nearby main road but not really noticeable when in the hot tub, a hedge has been planted around the park to reduce this but it's going to take ti e to grow. Kitchen could do with a jug an a wooden spoon, would definitely go back again."
Brian & Nicola - Mar 2024
"Brilliant & cosy cottage far enough out the way to be secluded but close enough to local amenities. Amazing hotub & bathroom with underfloor heating throughout tops it off. The owners, Rob & Sharon are wonderful! (And of course Bonnie) Will definitely be coming back again for longer ASAP!!"
Christopher - Apr 2024
"Beautiful cottage with hot tub and log burner. lovely hosts, peaceful, perfect for our mini break. Hope to return for longer soon!"
Emma - Apr 2024
"Really well equipped house, lovely and warm too which was so nice on a rainy December day! Bath was just lovely and a nice big shower! The property is under a flight path - this did not disturb us at all! Dont be put off! A great location for dogs who hate fireworks as it's in the middle of nowhere. Really beautiful, well converted property. Thank you! "
Phoebe - Apr 2024
"It was everything we wanted for our weekend away and we loved staying here. We'll definitely be back! Our pups absolutely loved the underfloor heating and had so much fun in the garden. In fact Luna came home with a strained tail and according to the vet it was because she was wagging it so much over the weekend!! Very happy pups and hoomans!"
Andrew - Apr 2024
"Lovely cottage. Great location for us. Away from the hustle and bustle. Great hot tub . Lovely helpful non intrusive owners. They have it just right!"
Simon - Apr 2024
"Absolutely loved how well maintained and equipped this cottage is. Plenty of dog walks right on the doorstep. Very friendly host, they were so efficient and communication was excellent. We enjoyed meeting the animals on the farm and the very curious pig penelope. Perfect escape for us and the doggos. Will definitely be back, brilliant value!! Highly recommend. "
Brooke - Apr 2024
"Beautiful property, spotlessly clean, well equipped and very comfortable, had a fabulous break, hot tub amazing x"
Libby - Apr 2024
"Very kind and considerate owners. Couldnt be better. Enormously helpful and extremely pleasant. Charming half-timbered cottage with a great strong shower, cosy kitchen & living room combination and very comfortable bed. Fantastic parking directly next to the rented cottage. Well heated and very charming, and spotlessly clean. Great walks across the fields to the local village of Thaxted and of course within easy travelling distance of the village, replete with half-timbered houses and windmill. "
James - Apr 2024
"We had a wonderful time in Goddard Mead. The cottage was very complete and there were walks on the doorstep. The welcome and stay was very warm. The owners are lovely people."
Annemieke - Apr 2024
"The owners Rob & Sharon, have gone to a great deal of work to sympathetically convert this historic building & we couldn't have had a warmer greeting from them both & of course Bonnie. Goddard's Mead has everything you need for a relaxing and comfortable stay. The location is in a great area of Essex and would recommend taking the time to wander around Thaxted and other villages/towns nearby to discover it's fascinating history & buildings. "
Carol - Apr 2024
"Such a lovely place to stay in a really beautiful, private location. The owners were really friendly and helpful, nearby if needed but without breaking that sense of privacy. The hot tub was perfect after a day of cycling! One thing to be aware of, the cottage is right under Stansted's flight path, and so there's a lot of aircraft noise. It only took us a couple of hours to get used to it and it didn't spoil our holiday at all, but something to be aware of if you're sensitive to noise. "
Inderjit - Apr 2024
"The lovely cottage is situated on a working farm, but is very private. The owners, Robert and Sharon, are delightful. The cottage is very spacious with good equipment in the kitchen and the bathroom. The bed is really comfortable. The garden is secluded; dog proof and with good furniture. There are numerous walks around. Thaxted has good restaurants. We liked The Star and The Maypole. The Swan and the Indian are not bad either. We thoroughly recommend this place. "
Richard - Apr 2024
"We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and Sharon and Robert were great hosts and made us feel very welcome. The accommodation had everything we needed and was clean, comfortable and secure for our dog Archie. The location was ideal too with plenty of walks to find and Thaxted and surrounding villages are lovely places to visit. We felt our batteries had certainly been recharged during our week and we enjoyed our relaxing break! "
Denise - Apr 2024
"Stayed here for a week from 15 to 22 July with our 2 mini daschund girls who thoroughly enjoyed there stay making new friends in the village of thaxted. The cottage is lovely especially the hot tub a bonus as it was the hottest days of the year so the water was coolled so it was more refreshing the hosts were very welcoming was nice to see there horses being taken to the fields each day you are on the flight path near stansted but I enjoyed watching the planes come in would definitely recommend "
Sharon - Apr 2024
"Lovely accommodation, very peaceful and relaxing and great for dogs as the garden is fully inclosed"
Fleur - Apr 2024
"Had such a lovely, relaxing break. Cottage was immaculate, equipped with everything you need and some lovely added extras too. Couldnt recommended more"
Antonia - Apr 2024
"Had a lovely weekend away staying here. Would love to come back later on in the year."
Rachel - Apr 2024
"Lovely friendly owners. Couldnt do enough when the power went down due to the storm. Very well equipped and clean. Very warm cottage. Our dog enjoyed the enclosed outside space and us the hot tub!"
Penny - Apr 2024
"Perfect venue for a quiet break away. Sharon and Robert have thought of everything to make your stay enjoyable and comfortable. Although this was our second visit it definitely will not be our last."
Georgina - Apr 2024
"Beautiful cottage in a lovely quiet location. Ideal to escape and relax. Hot tub was amazing and the cottage was immaculate with everything you needed. Lots of walks close by and within the village reach. Had such a wonderful time. Couldnt recommend enough."

This is an amazing Cumbria attraction well known locally as well as nationally for how close you can get to the animals.  Described as the most interactive animal park in Europe it's well worth a visit if you are staying in the area.  Open from April to end October some of the highlights are the tigers, penguins, bears, hippos and rhinos.  At 2pm during certain seasons it's feeding time so don't forget to plan your day around this so you can watch the animals enjoying their feed.  Look out for seasonal events such as Halloween Zoo Boo (free entry for kids in fancy dress) and The Magic of Christmas.
