Dartmoor River Retreat Reviews

Emma - Oct 2024
We really enjoyed our stay here! The place looks exactly like the photosand the layout is super practical. The quality is top-notch, though we found the mattress a bit firm for our liking. The hot tub and sauna were straightforward to operate and added a nice touch to our break. Being so close to Sue’s pub was a real bonus-great food and a lively atmosphere, yet you don’t hear a thing from inside the pod. Sue and her team were lovely, making us feel right at home. Overall, a fantastic escape that we’d definitely recommend! We’ll be back for sure.
James - Sep 2024
We had a lovely time staying here. The lodge was spotless and had everything we needed, plus the hot tub was a real treat! The welcome hamper was a thoughtful touch, saved us from rushing out after a long journey. Sue was fantastic, always ready to help with any questions. The on-site pub was friendlyand the food was top-notch. Thanks for a great stay!
James - Sep 2024
We had a lovely time at Dartmoor River Retreat! Big thanks to Sue and her team for making everything so comfy. The location is fab, right next to the river and close to a pub with great food and a really warm vibe. The hot tub was just what we needed after a long day out exploring. Honestly, we’d definitely recommend this place if you’re after a cosy escape in Devon’s beautiful countryside. We’ll be back for sure!
Emma - Jul 2024
Really enjoyed our stay, the cottage was cosy and thoughtfully arranged.
Alex - May 2024
We had an absolutely lovely stay at this charming Pod nestled in the South Devon countryside. From the moment we arrived, we were shown around and given all the tips, especially how to light the wood-fired hot tub - which was such a treat! The sauna was a real highlightand the hamper with breakfast essentials was super handy. The nearby pub had a great vibe with a varied menu; the food was cooked perfectly, generous portionsand really tasty. We’d definitely come back!
Alex Harper - May 2024
We really enjoyed our stay here! The peaceful spot with just two pods was perfect for relaxing. Plenty of local attractions to exploreand it’s great that dogs are welcome. The pub had a good menu and friendly staff too.
Emma - Apr 2024
We really enjoyed our stay! The site is just a short drive to local shops but still feels secluded and peaceful. The river nearby is lovely for a strolland it’s perfect for our dog since it’s all enclosed. Super tidy everywhereand it honestly felt like a cosy home from home. Great find!
Tom - Feb 2024

Emma Collins - May 2023
We had a lovely, peaceful weekend here. The place was spotless and had everything we needed. The hot tub was fantastic but watch the temperature! Owners were really friendly and the pub just down the road was perfect for a pint.
Emma - Mar 2023
We had a lovely stay here! The location is really convenientand the host was super friendly and welcoming. Parking was straightforward, which is always a plus. The cottage itself is well-kept and feels secure, perfect for a relaxing break. We appreciated the welcome pack-eggs, bacon, milk, a beerand prosecco-such nice touches. Only small thing was the dog hair, which we cleaned up with a broom and wipes, but might be tricky for other owners. Overall, a great find and we’ll be recommending it!
James - Feb 2023
The place has such a welcoming vibe, lovely foodand we’ll definitely return soon!
Jess - Feb 2023

Emily - Apr 2022
Honestly, this place really hit the spot for us. The pod was cosy and thoughtfully stocked, making it super comfortable. We loved unwinding in the wood-fired hot tub-such a luxury! The setting by the river on Dartmoor’s edge was so peaceful, it felt like a retreat. It’s a perfect base for exploring the coast from Dartmouth to Brixham. Sue, the owner, was lovely-warm and helpful without being overbearing. Definitely recommend, we’ll be coming back!
Emma - Apr 2022
We stayed here for three nights in April and honestly, we’d come back in a heartbeat. The location by the river is stunning and the place itself is super cosy and spotless. Our dog loved having so much space to run around in the garden. The owners were really friendly and helpful; they even lent us a long lead when we forgot ours. The hot tub was great once we got it going. It’s a perfect spot, close to the coast, Dartmoorand right next to a pub for all the essentials.
Emma - Jan 2022
