"We enjoyed our stay over Christmas; the peaceful adult-only vibe was perfect. The lodges bed was super comfy and the hot tub a real highlight. Definitely coming back!"
Emma Clarke - Dec 2024
"Really enjoyed our time at Goddards Mead! The cottage was perfect, comfy and well-equipped. Well definitely return soon!"
Simon - Dec 2024
"We only stayed for a couple of nights, so we rated the value as a 4*. Honestly, a weeks stay wouldn't have been much more expensive, which seems like good value. The fixtures and fittings were really nice, but a few spots like the bathroom felt a bit awkwardly designed for real practicality. Still, we enjoyed it!"
David - Dec 2024
"As we were only there for two days, the value for money was scored as a 4*. This is because a week (7-days would have been only a little more, The fixtures and fittings were lovely, however there were some areas (i.e. bathroom) that did not appear to be well laid out for practical use."
Phil - Dec 2024
"Overall a beautiful place to go if youre looking for that country side break . Facilities are great, the staff very helpful. Ive been there now three years in a row and I plan on going there again ."
Paul - Nov 2024
"Recently refurbished lodge, very spacious clean & comfortable for a party of 2 with everything you could need. The little log burner certainly provided cosy warmth post hot tub use, though the central heating was sufficient too.The prosecco & chocolates as a welcome gift was a lovely touch."
Verified Guest - Oct 2024
"Weve visited several times now and its still a lovely escape. The lodges upgrade was a nice surprise, even if it wasnt necessary. The games room is a great touch and the peaceful vibe makes it perfect for unwinding. Well be back!"
Sam - Oct 2024
"The Pod was just perfect for us-super cosy and we honestly didn't feel like needing anything else."
Lisa - Aug 2024
"We had a fantastic stay at this lovely cottage! Its tucked away on a working farm, but feels super private and peaceful. The owners, Robert and Sharon, are genuinely lovely people. The place is really spacious and the kitchen and bathroom are well-equipped - everything you need. The bed was so comfy, we slept like logs. The garden is perfect for dogs, completely secluded, with nice furniture. Plenty of walking routes nearby and Thaxted has some cracking restaurants like The Star and The Maypole. Wed definitely recommend it!"
George - May 2024
"Smooth experience, straightforward and simple."
Oliver Green - May 2024
"Really impressed with the overall comfort and quality here."
Gareth - May 2024
"We spent our Christmas here and honestly, it was lovely. The lodge had everything we needed, especially for cooking and we really appreciated the little touches like milk, chocolates and fizz in the fridge-such a nice surprise! The hot tub was a highlight, particularly with the cover st and, as the weather was pretty terrible, but we managed to enjoy it anyway. The rules about being out of the hot tub by 11pm are fair and the staff come around to close it off, which was no hassle. The only downsides were the bathroom needing some TLC and no blinds in the bathroom or kitchen, which felt a bit odd. Overall, a peaceful spot wed happily recommend!"
Harriet - Jan 2024
"We recently stayed again at Longnor Wood and it was just as lovely as before. The lodges are spotless and well-equipped, making everything hassle-free. We appreciated the little touches like dog treats and prosecco-nice surprises! Visiting during Bonfire Night was perfect; no fireworks, just peace and quiet. Plus, the lack of light pollution meant we got to see the northern lights-an unexpected bonus! Were definitely planning to come back soon. Definitely recommend for a relaxing getaway!"
Jamie Carter - Nov 2023
"Really enjoyed our stay here! The lodge was well-equipped and comfortable and the peaceful surroundings made it a perfect getaway. Highly recommend!"
Alex - Nov 2023
"We really enjoyed our visit here, especially walking around the lovely fields with the dogs."
Esme Parker - Sep 2023
"We really enjoyed the place, especially walking around the fields with the dogs-such a lovely experience!"
Ellie - Jun 2023
"We had such a great time at this lodge! Its really spacious and kept us warm and cosy, plus the decor is lovely. Everything we needed was there, including a utility room with a washer and tumble dryer, which was handy. The deck was massive with a table, chairs and a hot tub we used every night - honestly, its huge! We got super lucky with the weather and enjoyed breakfast outside most mornings, watching squirrels and birds. We loved it so much, weve already booked for next year. Absolutely fab!"
Fiona - May 2023
"Really enjoyed our stay, will definitely come back again soon!"
Charlotte - Aug 2020
"We really enjoyed our stay at the lodge. Its perfect for couples, with plenty of space and everything we needed. The bed was comfy and the kitchen was well-equipped. The bathroom was a bit tight and the shower isnt the biggest, especially since theres no door-made showering a little tricky without getting the floor wet. Still, overall, a great place for a relaxing week away!"
Charlie - Aug 2020
"Lovely clean site"
Tracey - Aug 2022
"Fabulous for a get a way for a couple.Everything you could want and more."

"so relaxing in a beautiful location"
Lynn - Jul 2022
"Lovely relaxing 4 days. Beautiful surroundings and very peaceful. Loved seeing the wildlife too."
Sandra - Jul 2022
"What a fantastic stay. The site was immaculate, the sfaff were friendly and the caravan was perfect, the hot tub was a brilliant way to end the day exploring. We will definitely be back."
Lorna - Jul 2022
"Park is very good and well maintained."
EWAN - Jul 2022
"Lovely quiet site in a beautiful area. The lodge was well equipped and spacious. The site staff were accommodating and a housekeeper showed us around the lodge on arrival. There was a problem with the bed being made up as a double instead of 2 singles, but they sorted this out within 30 mins for us. The site loaned us a BBQ at no charge, which I thought was generous as it was gas powered and some cost would be incurred by them. There is a small shop on site in reception where you can get some essentials and ice cream, and there is an information point with lots of leaflets and DVDs. There are a few areas which could be improved. The ensuite shower in our lodge was dire - very little pressure. There was also a bit of a noise in the bedroom from either the boiler or water pipes on the wall behind the bed. Also the site should really consider providing free and unlimited wi-fi site wide or at least to the lodges that have paid a hefty price. We have stayed in numerous lodges (often in remote areas) over the years and it pretty much is the norm to have wifi and streaming/netflix in them now."
Kathryn - Jul 2022
"Fab holiday. Well equipped Lodge and extremely helpful staff"
Margaret - Jul 2022
"We had a great two weeks here at Longnor. The staff were really friendly, helpful and shared local information on arrival as well. The Caravan was fantastic - so nice to have more space in bedroom and loads of storage space. We spent most of the time walking and cycling in the local area and then came back to relax in the hot tub at the end of the day. A really quiet site which was just what we wanted."

Heights of Abraham - DE4 3PT
about 14 Miles
This unique attraction combines an array of activities.  If you have a look on their website there are some good video clips which give an even better idea of what this attraction is all about.  Some of the highlights include the Cable Car system which is actually Britain's first alpine style cable car system.  You are transported from the valley floor right up above where you can enjoy superb Dewent Valley Views.  You can also stroll around 60 acres of wooded hillside on foot to see an array of birds and wildlife.

Go Ape Cheshire - WA16 6RW
about 32 Miles
Out of all of the Go Ape! courses the one in Cheshire is the most spread out and it takes staff ten minutes to patrol the site on bike - which gives a good indication of the size of this place.  If you're looking for an adventurous and memorable day out then Go Ape is highly recommended.  Trek through the treetops, swing between the trees and enjoy zip wire rides all as part of your experience.  This attraction opens every day from the end of March to end October and is open on weekends in November.  Go Ape Cheshire is closed every Tuesday except school holidays.
