Sherwood Castle Holiday Forest Reviews

"Master bedroom mattress have to be changed, it's very old and the springs not supporting the weight of your body"
Verified Guest - Apr 2024
"The only complaint we had was the mattress on the bed, it was too soft giving us both who are pensioners a sore back. This would not be an issue for most people but a little more comfort would be appreciated."
Verified Guest - Mar 2024
"The beds were too soft for my liking and some things were not cleaned properly before my stay. The lodge in whole has been very nice"
Kinga - Feb 2024
"We really enjoyed our stay, everything was clean and well kept. The kids enjoyed feeding the animals and exploring in the woods and playing in the parks. The swimming pool was a good size for private hire but sometimes the kids wanted a little longer than 30 minutes. Staff were really friendly and helpful."
Gemma - Feb 2024
"I came here a few years ago and it was lovely now it looks very tied the cabin was dirty not been cleaned properly dirty pots in the cupboard I had to clean the dishwasher before I could use it it was filthy. Bedding not the best so glad we took our own pillows. Someone with a dog must have stayed before us as there was clumps of dog hair on the floor. Which is a shame because we love where it is nice walks places to visit and nice pubs that do lovely meals. Hopefully will get better need to employ a good cleaning company."
Verified Guest - Jan 2024
"Cheap man's centre parks. It's OK, but hot water was hit and miss in the cabin. Cleaning could of been better, dishwasher had bits of food in from previous people who stayed there. Also the park bins were overflowing which brought the feel of rhe park down. Some nice parts were the pool which you could book per cabin so had it to yourself."
Verified Guest - Jan 2024
"We have been to this park for New Years, for the past 10 years. The kids love and feel free to go off and play and explore. Its a beautiful, convenient spot with friendly staff. I just wish that there were a few more updates such as heating in the pool, somewhere to grab a coffee/cake etc. on site while kids are playing."
Laurie - Jan 2024
"Cupboards and pans full of mice droppings."
Verified Guest - Jan 2024
"Lodge was full of cobwebs. Floor needed sweeping."
Verified Guest - Jan 2024
"Very dirty. arrived to chocolate spread over the bedroom walls blood spots on the bath dead flies throughout corners of bathroom absolutely filthy ripped flooring in the living area snell of urine in the main bedroom I didn't dare look at the mattress without a sheet onOverall this complex would be wonderfully if it was cleaner properly and maintained"
Verified Guest - Jan 2024
"Comfortable and enjoyable accommodation, I would of liked the option for bunk beds or 2 singles in a room. Kitchen facilities were good but basic. The shop on site didn't sell basics. More sweets and fizzy drinks. Would of liked to bread milk butter etc but didn't have any. Castle staff were very relaxed and flexible about booking activities."
Verified Guest - Jan 2024
"Really nice for the Christmas time, and a great walk through the forest for dogs as well with a nice lodge to get back to afterwards"
LEE - Jan 2024
"Perfect getaway for the festive period scenic walks, peace and quiet ,the staff were helpful and its just a shame they have nearly doubled the price for next year"
Verified Guest - Jan 2024
"Best quite clean and peaceful hoilday ,staff were helpful site clean, don't book if your after lots of noise activity shops bar on site ,this is why this place was perfect, all you could hear was trees blowing birds tooting, we are going to book again for the same cabin as soon as we can, lots of walks our dog had great time interesting things as you walk round the woods"
Kay - Dec 2023
"We had a lovely stay in lovely surroundings, and our doggy enjoyed the walks around the area, the accommodation was clean and the log burner came in handy, thanks for the welcome tray"
Sharon - Dec 2023
"lodge could of been cleaner, dust in corners and grouting near shower needs a good clean or redoing. strains on sofaneeds maybe some more lights to help get you to your cabin as it was dark."
Robert - Nov 2023
"Very dates. Broken and not as advertised. Nice also in the lodge"
Verified Guest - Nov 2023
"Great little site tucked away in a lovely surrounding"
Ben - Nov 2023
"We will not be returning!"
Kirsty - Nov 2023
"Not great. Just do a bit more looking around and find some where with better reviews. The staff were lovely but the site needs some attention."
Verified Guest - Nov 2023
"We stayed here for a couple of nights with my 9 year old niece who has additional needs. I had some misgivings when I booked because reviews were mixed, but I was extremely impressed. The cabin we stayed in was clean and had everything we needed. It was in a lovely quiet location and perfect for us. My niece loved the woods and the various play areas while the grownups enjoyed the peace and beautiful setting. Being able to book the swimming pool for our exclusive use was a real treat. This probably doesn't have all the facilities of some of the larger holiday parks in the area but for us that was perfect as it made for a more peaceful and relaxed break. The grounds were well maintained considering the woodland setting and although there was some maintenance work going on while we were there it wasn't disruptive at all Everyone we dealt with who worked there was extremely helpful and accommodating."
Maria - Nov 2023
"Was a lovely place nice and quiet and clean. Loved the swimming pool to ourselves. The only thing was maybe the sofas need an update and duvet cover in main bedroom could have been slightly larger. Apart from that it was a great stay we would visit again but maybe only a long weekend. As we thought a week was a little long with to teenagers."
Tracy - Nov 2023
"Having stayed at Sherwood Castle on a number of occasions we were looking forward to a relaxing holiday. Everything was amazing, except the beds were not the comfiest. I'm sure that when we've stayed before there was an ironing board and an iron in each cabin, and there was nothing. Also the kitchen utensils were very sparce. These are only minor irks, because we did have a fab time and wouldn't stop us from staying again (well, maybe the beds....)."
Verified Guest - Nov 2023
"Third visit to Sherwood Castle, I really like the site and location. Can see massive changes and improvements in this visit, hot tubs & saunas getting put in and cabins updated / painted, Im interested to see how it goes under the new ownership. The forest is lovely, the pool slots are a bit too limiting in 30 min slots but quite like the 2 cabin booking so suppose they have to give everyone chance to use it. Will be good having a dining place there, good luck. Plenty to do in the area so this is a great base. Locally its a real shame the ford has been closed off as that was a novelty."
Ibi - Nov 2023
"We had the most wonderful stay. Over and above what we expected. Excellent location, wonderful woodland wanders. Quiet and peaceful just as we hoped."
Verified Guest - Nov 2023
"Had a wonderful time away. Really enjoyed this place. It was myself, 14 year old boy and my dad. My 14 year old enjoyed all the sports that was available. The location is in the middle of where we wanted to visit within the area. The cabin was very homely and comfortable. The staff were very helpful and very welcoming. Thank you for a wonderful time"
Felicity - Nov 2023
"Lovely chilled out few days, location is superb with little parks dotted about in the woods. Kids really enjoyed having the pool to themselves as booked 30 minute slots. Will definitely be returning ?"
Wendy - Aug 2022
"Great little holiday park in nice surroundings. Lots of outdoors paths trails and parks. Lodge was generally ok. There was signs of damp and lack of high level cleaning (cob webs) in lodges and customer areas which could be improved."
Michael - Aug 2022
"Spent a long weekend here and totally enjoyed it. Would recommend"
Emma - Jul 2022
"This is our 4th time staying here and we love it! The lodges are quite basic but in a fantastic location."
Helen - Jul 2022
"The cabin was lovely and clean the cleanest I ever stayed in the location was good will go back next year"
Sharon - Jul 2022
"Nice place to stay for holidays."
Anzella - Jul 2022
"We really enjoyed our holiday at Sherwood castle and would recommend it to any young family. The site has great facilities including the pool and tennis courts although some of the outdoor activities has taken a beaten due to COVID. The lodges themselves are well acceptable for the price and I believe are due to be revamped over the next year. The site is centrally located with numerous towns and cities all within an hour's drive. Also Sherwood pines and the Sherwood forest visitor centre are less than 10 minutes away. The best part of Sherwood Castle is the staff. They are genuine nice people who have great knowledge of the area and help a lot. I would recommend this site."
Thomas - Jul 2022
"Lovely little holiday park with lots of activities for all of the family."
Hazel - Jul 2022
