When’s the best time to visit Aberfeldy?
May to September offers the best weather. The autumn colours in October can be spectacular but pack waterproofs. Winter visits mean you’ll have attractions to yourself – plus your hot tub feels even better when it’s frosty outside!
Do I need a car?
While there’s a limited bus service, a car gives you freedom to explore. Many lodges with hot tubs are outside town, so having wheels makes life easier.
What’s the food like?
The Fountain Bar does excellent pub grub. The Three Lemons offers fancier fare. The Breadalbane Bakery makes amazing pies – perfect for picnics.
Is Aberfeldy good for families?
Absolutely! Kids love Highland Safaris and the Birks walk. Many lodges with hot tubs are family-friendly, but check the rules – some have minimum age requirements for tub use.
What if it rains?
It’s Scotland – it might! The distillery tour is indoors. The Birks Cinema shows films daily. Or just enjoy your lodge’s hot tub – they’re brilliant in the rain. Trust me, sitting in bubbling water while raindrops fall around you is oddly satisfying.
Are the hot tub lodges private?
Most are. Look for “private hot tub” in listings. Some budget options might have shared facilities. Nothing worse than planning a romantic soak only to find the neighbours joining you. Awkward.
Can I bring my dog?
Many lodges welcome dogs, but check policies regarding hot tub use. Some places ban dogs from hot tub areas for hygiene reasons.
Is Aberfeldy expensive?
It’s cheaper than Edinburgh or the Highlands. A pint costs around £4.50. Most attractions are reasonably priced. Self-catering in your lodge saves cash on meals.
